    A Long-Awaited Trip to Yufuin

    About 30 years ago, I traveled across Kyushu on a tight schedule. During that trip, I visited Beppu and Yufuin and was deeply impressed by the Onsen and the vast mountain scenery, which brought me back this time. Souan is a charming Ryokan. The interior design and furnishings create a calming atmosphere, and the view of the lush green Mount Yufu from the window is truly soothing. The meals, made with local ingredients, were very satisfying. Additionally, I was deeply impressed by the courteous service of the staff. I learned that this Ryokan has a history of 57 years, which is considered relatively short in Yufuin—quite surprising! The entire Ryokan is thoughtfully designed to create a cohesive and pleasant space. In recent years, Yufuin has seen an increase in foreign visitors to the point where it almost feels like it's not Japan anymore; however, within this Ryokan, I didn’t feel that way at all.     Yufuin Onsen Souan Kosumosu - Stay on 5/20

    Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The seasoning was not too strong, and they kindly accommodated by excluding ingredients I dislike, which was greatly appreciated.

    Completely satisfied and deeply relaxed.

    We were satisfied with the Onsen, service, meals, and room. We enjoyed the Onsen multiple times, had delicious food, and felt rejuvenated. This is a truly relaxing accommodation. We would love to stay here again.

    Conveniently located Ryokan for sightseeing.

    It was a bit pricey due to staying during Golden Week, but I was very satisfied. The accommodation is close to Lake Kinrin, located in the downtown area, and there is a Snoopy shop right in front, which was great.

    Stayed here for my first visit to Yufuin!

    We stayed in Yufuin for the first time to celebrate my partner's birthday. Based on reviews, we booked a detached room with a private open-air bath for 2 nights. From check-in, the staff's hospitality was excellent and left a wonderful impression! For the first night, we chose breakfast only, and for the second night, both dinner and breakfast were included. The meals were served in private rooms where we could relax and enjoy delicious food. We had ordered a birthday cake, and along with it, received a small gift from the hotel as well. Breakfast was prepared with different menus on both days. The open-air bath in our room initially seemed smaller than expected; hence on both nights, we enjoyed the private baths (no reservation required) and public baths instead—they were mostly available and absolutely fantastic! On our last day, we used our room’s open-air bath—it turned out to be spacious once inside! We regretted not using it from day one! It might have been the warmest among all baths too. Thanks to all of your amazing hospitality, our first trip to Oita became an unforgettable memory. Thank you so much! The location was also perfect—close enough for strolling around Lake Kinrin or enjoying local street food. We would love to stay here again when visiting Yufuin next time!

    We stayed at the mai...

    We stayed at the main building, Sakurasou, as a group of six. The spacious area with its stunning interior extending from the lobby was truly satisfying. Our plan included breakfast, which we enjoyed in a private and spacious room; it was exceptionally delicious. The staff's discreet and calm service was also highly commendable. As a suggestion, since we were a large group, having double sinks would have been appreciated. The closet felt slightly small, so placing pipe hangers in the storage room with a full-length mirror would make it even better.

    I had a great time.

    I always stay in Yufuin at the beginning of the year at highly-rated onsen ryokan across the whole country. This time, Yufuin Onsen Sanke was fully booked, so I visited for the first time. I thought the quality of the food and onsen was excellent and comparable to Sanke, but there were three points I would like to be considered. 1. There was only one room key (inconvenient when men and women go to the bath or go out). 2. Although we stayed with four people this time, the hotel only provided three cans of beer. It would be better to prepare enough for the number of people, even if it is for a fee. 3. Considering that we bathe multiple times, I would like the room's bath towels to be prepared in a more generous quantity. 以上、
