    The customer service is excellent!

    The variety of baths was excellent, and the staff's customer service was outstanding. It seems like regular consulting is in place. This is a place I want to visit again, and I will! Please offer affordable Plans on IKYU.com.

    Enjoyed the history of Hagi and Choshu to the fullest.

    We visited Hagi as a couple to see Shokasonjuku Academy and Meirinkan. The sea urchin hot pot was a dish we tried for the first time, and it was absolutely delicious. We apologize for not being able to finish the dessert. The Onsen had various types, was spacious, and provided great relaxation. However, there were no water stations in any of the Onsen areas, which we hope can be improved. Additionally, if I may add one more suggestion, the bath towels in the Room were quite stiff, which was a bit disappointing. Other than that, everything was perfect. Thank you very much!

    This was my first ti...

    This was my first time staying here. The accommodation has a luxurious feel and is very clean. I was soothed by the scent of sandalwood in the facility as I checked in. I used both the large public bath and the private bath, and both had a wonderful atmosphere. Perhaps I was lucky with the timing of my stay, but it felt like having exclusive access to both baths, making this an exceptional accommodation. The most impressive aspect for me was the food—both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious with a variety of dishes. Unlike typical Onsen accommodations that often serve pre-made side dishes or ready-made meals, every dish here—from small plates to main courses—was handmade with warmth and care. Having stayed at many accommodations before, this place definitely ranks in my personal top three for its outstanding cuisine. From the warm welcome upon arrival to the thoughtful send-off at departure, everything about their hospitality was excellent. The souvenir shop even had a more extensive selection than Ube Airport! Overall, this is such an amazing accommodation that makes you want to return again and again. I'll be visiting from Tokyo again soon! Thank you very much!

    This is the place to stay in Hagi! The staff's service is excellent.

    The room was assigned randomly, but it was clean and pleasant. The only downside was the toilet in the room. If only the toilet bowl had been replaced with a new one, it would have matched the room's atmosphere better, and even the old layout wouldn't have been an issue. The staff's service was exceptional—truly outstanding. Among all the Hotels and Ryokans I've stayed at recently, this one stands out as number one by far. Dinner was delicious; however, I ordered additional meat, which felt overpriced for what it offered—I realized later that I didn't need to order it. Breakfast the next morning was amazing—the best I've had in recent times! Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my stay here. Highly recommended if you're visiting Hagi!

    First Ryokan Experience

    The hospitality upon arrival was excellent! It completely took away the fatigue from the long journey!! Having a buffet option for dinner would make it even better... I look forward to staying here again!!

    The bath was excellent.

    I chose this accommodation for my first trip to Yamaguchi Prefecture. The room was newly renovated, very clean, and comfortable. The bath was spacious and allowed for a relaxing experience, which was great. However, the dining experience and serving service were quite disappointing... While the staff wore masks (which is good), their voices were so quiet that I couldn't hear what they were saying at all. Additionally, they cleared dishes while explaining the food, without making eye contact with guests—it didn't feel like proper service for a course meal. As for the food itself, unfortunately, it wasn't very tasty either. The accommodation cost about 26,000 yen per person but left me feeling a bit disappointed overall. I believe improving the service would make this place much better! On a positive note, I was very happy when an elderly staff member enthusiastically waved goodbye to us in the parking lot as we left.

    One of the best in Hagi.

    I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay, and the meals were significantly different each night, making it enjoyable. Although it is a bit far from the city center, you can call the Hotel for a pick-up service. The Onsen offers various types of baths, ensuring you never get bored. The staff's service was excellent, allowing me to enjoy my stay with peace of mind.

    Highly satisfied.

    We stayed at this accommodation to celebrate a special occasion. We were deeply moved by the kind gesture of upgrading our room during check-in. The hotel was impeccably clean, with a great sense of cleanliness, and the staff's service was excellent, making our stay completely pleasant and comfortable. The meals exceeded expectations with a wide variety of dishes available. Additional dishes could also be ordered, allowing us to enjoy local cuisine thoroughly. The bath area was spacious with numerous tubs, providing a relaxing experience. Choosing this hotel turned out to be an excellent decision. We would love to stay here again in the future!

    Staff with a deep love for the local area

    Stayed for one night with dinner included. Overall, the staff were very polite and provided kind and attentive service. However, during dinner, the slightly older woman in charge of serving was somewhat rude and unpleasant in her manner (details omitted, but she came across as overly assertive and high-handed). The baths offered a variety of options, making it enjoyable without getting bored. The male shuttle service driver was very talkative and introduced various attractions of Hagi along the way, which was helpful for sightseeing. However, not having a clock in the room felt a bit inconvenient.

    There are many baths...

    There are many baths to enjoy. The sashimi was fresh and the most delicious. The simmered sea bream head lacked freshness and had little meat, so it was not very good. Alcoholic beverages are a bit pricey. Wi-Fi connectivity is not very good. As for Room cleaning, the TV stand was dusty, which surprised me. Breakfast was all delicious.

    First Trip to Yamaguchi

    It was my first time exploring the streets of Hagi, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Blessed with good weather, I had a pleasant walk around the town. The Onsen at the Hotel was relaxing, and watching the sunset from my Room brought me peace. Unfortunately, I couldn't try the additional fugu sashimi as it was sold out—this is my only regret. I used the round-trip bus service, which was convenient. Thank you to the staff for their warm and attentive service. I truly appreciate your hospitality!

    Accommodation you'd definitely want to use again

    Great value accommodation with two meals included. Despite expecting a small room, we were pleasantly surprised with a superior-class Western-style room, which was very satisfying. For three people, we anticipated an extra bed but instead found three spacious beds! Dinner was served course by course rather than all at once, and the taste was excellent. The numerous open-air baths were enjoyable to explore and very satisfying. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, making it hard not to overeat. The staff provided attentive service, making this stay truly delightful! Highly recommended accommodation if you're visiting Hagi.

    The Onsen is amazing!

    We stayed with my spouse and sister-in-law. We booked a "Room at the hotel's discretion," so we were excited to see what kind of room we would get, but it turned out to be a standard Japanese-style room. Although the facilities were a bit old, everything was clean, and the onsen with various themed rooms was especially enjoyable and wonderful. Since it operated on a rotation system, we visited both at night and in the morning. We relaxed while gazing at the illuminated garden at night and soaking in the clear morning air. I regret not buying more souvenirs as I thought I could find them elsewhere but couldn't later on. The hotel's selection of items is excellent (I even considered returning to shop before leaving Hagi, but I believe the shop's hours were only until checkout). I also wanted to try the footbath at the observatory, so I definitely plan to visit again. Thank you very much!

    It was a new experience.

    A hotel that maintains quality with humility and sincerity. The all-you-can-enjoy fugu dishes and onsen are exceptional! The onsen, designed like a corridor, and the delicious fugu dishes were simply the best! The staff were warm and kind, without being overly formal, which I personally appreciated. The onsen is exceptionally clean, far beyond what you would expect from a typical accommodation with an onsen. Walking around and enjoying standing baths was truly amazing. I felt refreshed by the tranquility of this place. Without a doubt, this is an outstanding hotel.

    It was a relaxing experience.

    I chose the "Room" option, and I was delighted to be assigned a twin room on the 4th floor. The heartfelt hospitality and meals were wonderful. The bath was also relaxing, with an atmospheric open-air bath where I could enjoy mountain views and listen to birdsong. Thank you very much!

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    This was my first stay at the accommodation, and despite it being during a holiday, I was able to relax and enjoy my time.     Questioning Hospitality

    The front desk and bath reception staff provide excellent and pleasant service. However, the quality of service from the dining staff is disappointing. The meal progression is chaotic for each guest, and explanations about the dishes are inadequate. Some staff let their kimono sleeves dangle over the food, touch dishes with their fingers, or even have their fingers come into contact with the food—this level of service is unacceptable. I would like to believe this only applies to a few staff members, but it’s especially disappointing given how great the service is in other departments.

    Onsen, meals, and service are excellent.

    The meals were excellent. The Nagomi Kaiseki included tender simmered abalone, fresh and sweet sashimi, and everything served was delicious. Additionally, the staff provided attentive service with perfect timing, making it a wonderful dining experience. The Onsen had various baths to enjoy, allowing for a relaxing and enjoyable time. It’s a great accommodation, and I would love to visit again when I come to Hagi!

    We visited as a couple. Having previously been used by our children several times, we decided to visit ourselves. This was our second stay, and the Onsen was absolutely perfect—100 points! As for the food, knowing its high quality from our first visit, we requested dishes centered around fugu sashimi this time. The volume and freshness were outstanding, surpassing anything we've had at restaurants before. The additional abalone grilled on the spot was also 100 points. It seems that the same high level of quality has been maintained as when we previously ordered fugu sashimi-focused dishes. We look forward to visiting again and hope to try new creations in the future!

    Staying at Hagi Honjin for the first time was an exciting experience, and it exceeded my expectations, leaving me completely satisfied. Everything, from cleanliness to service and cuisine, was perfect, providing relaxation for both body and mind. The Onsen was especially amazing—I enjoyed it three times! The water quality and changing rooms were always clean, making each visit incredibly comfortable. The luxurious Fugu course dinner and the kids' meal were filling and delightful. Breakfast was also extravagant with dishes like fried Fugu and Ikura rice bowls; it was the best among all accommodations I’ve stayed at so far. The staff's hospitality was impeccable, and I am determined to stay here again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

    Onsen is highly recommended.

    This was my second stay. Last time, I stayed in a Japanese-style room that felt a bit dated, but this time I chose the Deluxe Twin Room, which was very clean and comfortable. The staff who greeted us were cheerful, and the front desk team was polite and attentive. For dinner, we added extra "Mafugu" sashimi (additional charge) to our Torafugu Kaiseki meal for a comparison tasting. "Mafugu" seems to be a specialty of Yamaguchi Prefecture, and we thoroughly enjoyed the fugu dishes. However, while delicious, the portion size might feel slightly insufficient for those with larger appetites. Breakfast quality has improved since my last visit with an abundance of Yamaguchi specialties on offer—I was very satisfied! The freshly fried fugu cutlets were especially delicious. The in-room bath is just a standard unit bath; I highly recommend using the large public baths instead. There are many open-air baths where you can relax and fully enjoy the onsen experience—though it closes at 11 PM, which felt slightly rushed for me. One note: there are quite a lot of group guests here. The breakfast buffet runs from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM (last entry at 8:30 AM), but it gets extremely crowded during this short window—it's best to arrive right when it opens at 7:00 AM if possible! I could see efforts by the accommodation to enhance guest satisfaction through initiatives like introducing welcome drinks and improving breakfast menus—it truly reflects their commitment to upgrading services from a customer perspective!

    It was a satisfying property.

    I stayed at the Property with a plan that included Onsen sourced directly from the spring. Although they say the spring water is heated and free-flowing, please dilute it with cold water as it is set to a high temperature. I was surprised as this was my first time experiencing an Onsen with added water. The meals were of appropriate portions, focusing on quality ingredients, and I enjoyed a comfortable time with a great view from the Room. I've also stayed at another Property in the same area where His Majesty the Emperor has stayed, but I prefer Hagi Honjin for their service, meals, and Facility. In every aspect, I would recommend this place. If given another opportunity, I'd love to have a Multiple Night Stay here next time.

    Good Stays

    The view was outstanding. The staff were always smiling and kind, the meals were enjoyable and delicious, the bath was spacious and comfortable, and the Facility was more than sufficient for us. Since there is no score between 4 and 5, I assigned a score for convenience. I think it would be 4.5 if possible, as there were some areas and people that were not top-notch in each field.

    Great satisfaction

    We used the property for a family trip during the New Year holidays. It was a wonderful trip! The phone support for confirming the reservation in advance was excellent. When we informed them that we would be visiting by car, they provided us with the latest weather conditions. We were worried about ice, but we arrived safely. They also uploaded freezing information on their Instagram stories, showing that they really care about their guests! There are many baths to enjoy. The meals, made with fresh seafood, were very satisfying! The server provided very elegant service and was very attentive. The breakfast buffet also had a wide variety! I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity. The corner suite room on the top floor was the best!
