    We can confidently recommend the East Wing!

    We stayed in the East Wing as a family of four (two adults and two infants). When we arrived at the Hotel, we were thrilled—kids included—by the beauty of the sea and the building. The ocean view from our Room also made us feel like we were truly on an extraordinary trip. Both the Room and the facilities were very well cleaned, and the staff’s hospitality struck just the right balance: never overbearing, yet never cold. We were so impressed with the entire Hotel that we asked about extending our stay right after check-in. Although it was likely a busy check-in time, our call connected immediately, they kindly agreed without any hassle, and thanks to their consideration we were able to enjoy a Multiple Night Stay in the same Room. At some foreign-owned Hotels in Tokyo I’ve sometimes felt that service can be overly friendly relative to the price, which left me slightly uncomfortable. Here, despite being great value, the staff used very polite language and carried themselves professionally, making our stay genuinely pleasant. (I hardly saw any non-Japanese staff; my impression was that most were Japanese. I also saw several Japanese housekeeping staff.) If I had to mention one disappointment: perhaps because it was peak season, there seemed to be many student-aged restaurant staff members; their voices were so quiet I couldn’t hear them well, and some explanations were incorrect. However, a supervisor/full-time staff member provided accurate guidance right away, so any doubts were quickly resolved. Since information about facilities is already available on the Hotel website, I’ll omit those details. We visited on a weekday in late summer vacation season and didn’t notice any overly boisterous children or adults; guests were calm overall. It’s easy to see why there are so many repeat visitors—this is an excellent Hotel. We would like to stay in the East Wing again next time.

    A Hotel the Whole Family Can Enjoy Across Three Generations

    We stayed as three generations with a toddler and an elementary school child. The Room was spacious and comfortable. We arrived early, so the grandchildren enjoyed the pool until check-in while I relaxed in the hot stone spa. It was great that bath towels, towels, and even bathrobes were available throughout the property. All of the meals were delicious, and I was especially impressed by the seafood ochazuke at breakfast. My grandchildren were thrilled and said they want to come again next year.

    Beyond your expectations!

    I fell in love at first sight with the Hotel’s exterior photo on IKYU and had always wanted to visit someday. That wish finally came true, and this was my first stay. First, I was overwhelmed by the breathtaking ocean view from the main entrance of the East Wing and the refreshing breeze flowing through. The interior is also immaculate, with a clean white-based design that truly feels like a beach resort. The Room was spacious enough for two. Above all, the vast ocean view from the terrace, the pine grove of Niji-no-Matsubara, and the pleasant sea breeze were incredible. Sitting in one of the provided chairs with a beer in hand, I felt so relaxed that I completely lost track of time. During our travel on the first day, we decided we wanted to have dinner at the Hotel and contacted them. We were told it was already fully booked with Reservations, but they kindly adjusted things for a later time, and we enjoyed an elegant kaiseki meal at their Japanese restaurant. There were also many thoughtful extras beyond what’s standard—such as a welcome cake and ice pops after bathing. In addition to amenities, we even received small cute drawstring pouches and shopping bags for each day of our stay—our satisfaction level was truly maxed out. The breakfast buffet and large public bath were both excellent; we could relax so much that it made us want to “stay all summer.” This is slightly different from feedback about the Hotel itself, but we drove back and forth several times between central Karatsu near the station area and the Hotel, and everywhere felt connected to water—it’s such a calm, genuinely wonderful place. It left a strong impression when our taxi driver arranged by the Hotel said, “I really love my hometown Karatsu!” As a couple born and raised in Osaka without a hometown to return to for visits like that, we honestly felt envious. Next time, we’d love to stay as long as our schedule allows. Thank you very much!

    It was the perfect holiday.

    Every summer vacation, we stay at this seaside Hotel. The Rooms in the East Wing and the amenities are truly wonderful, and we always look forward to them. One small disappointment was that last year there was a bottle of water by the sink in the bathroom, but this time it wasn’t provided. Also, the staff’s service was excellent. In the morning, when my child and I were swimming in the sea, I’m not sure if it was a staff member or a volunteer, but someone was carefully picking up litter on the beach. It was wonderful. Thanks to that, there wasn’t any trash at all on the beach in front of the Hotel, and we could swim comfortably. We’ll be back again next year. We hope it will be even more upgraded—haha.

    Overall, it was clea...

    Overall, it was clean and nice, but I felt the Accommodation price was high. The amenities weren’t particularly impressive, and since many Hotels these days offer things like a drink bar, I don’t think I would have stayed if there hadn’t been a pool. The pool and the Room itself were very clean and comfortable. I was expecting dinner to be a bit more delicious, but it was average. Because the price is high, I don’t think I’ll stay again.

    We had a wonderful stay.

    When I stayed before, I felt the meals had changed a bit after it became part of Chateraise, so I hadn’t visited for a while. This time, after a long break, I stayed again and found the buffet back to its former variety—everything was delicious. With a rooftop pool, outdoor pool, and indoor pool—and the beach right in front—the kids were thrilled. On the Onsen floor, there was also plenty of Chateraise ice cream available, which they really enjoyed. It’s a Hotel with excellent family-friendly facilities, and we’d love to stay again.

    Views, facilities, and service beyond expectations

    We booked the East Wing for the first time for a beach trip. The scenery is so stunning that our family couldn’t help saying, “Is this Hawaii?” Everywhere you look is picture-perfect. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. There were plenty of staff members, and they responded quickly. The Room was excellent, the Facility was great, and the after-bath ice cream and welcome cake were pure bliss. We’re truly grateful that this place exists. Since it’s a large property with a lot of walking, we’d love to come every year as long as we’re able to get around comfortably.

    I’m a returning guest.

    I stayed in the West Wing about 10 years ago, and this time I was looking forward to staying in the East Wing. The building, meals, and Room were just as I expected. I would like to stay again if I have the opportunity. Thank you very much.

    It was a clean Hotel.

    I stayed in the East Wing, and the Hotel entrance was breathtaking—the high ceiling and wide-open ocean view were truly impressive. It really felt like a resort. The building is unified in white and looked very clean and beautiful. The Room was stylish, right down to the wallpaper in the restroom. They even provided a bag for going to the spa, which made things very comfortable. The only disappointment was that the women’s large public bath had only a mist sauna. Many men still seem to assume women prefer mist saunas, but these days more women actually prefer dry saunas. With mist, many people don’t use it, so it felt like a shame to have sauna space that wasn’t being enjoyed. I would have enjoyed it much more if it had been dry.

    Welcome back!

    I visited for the first time in several years. I don’t think there was a new wing back then. Maybe the baths have been renovated too—the large public bath was wonderful! The location is great, and if it were closer, I’d love to stay here often. Thanks to the courteous support from all the staff, I had a great trip. I’m sorry for the trouble in the parking lot, and thank you for your help.

    I’d love to stay here again.

    I stayed here with four friends on a girls’ trip. Unfortunately, it rained, but the attentive service and delicious meals were very relaxing. They carried our suitcases to the Room, which was a big help. My friends also said it was a great Hotel and praised it highly. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    That’s disappointing...

    As I felt when I stayed last year, the service from the front desk staff and the dining venue staff is not very good. My mother is undergoing medical treatment, and this time I booked a club floor stay and used the club lounge so she could refresh. The club lounge staff were very pleasant. Regarding breakfast, because of my mother’s situation, I asked to consult about seating. That was refused, and at the breakfast venue a staff member gave me an unpleasant look—it was awful. This trip was planned so my mother could enjoy herself, but it left me feeling upset, to the point that I even thought we shouldn’t have stayed here. I have used many Hotel club lounges before, but this one was by far the worst in terms of what it offered. It was extremely disappointing. I don’t want to stay on a lounge-included Plan again. Given that you charge a considerable Accommodation fee, I think you should make improvements.

    I was disappointed with dinner.

    I chose this Hotel because it had highly rated Reviews, but I ended up wondering why. With a typhoon approaching, I called in advance because I was worried, but the response was not very helpful. After arriving, I told the front desk that the purpose of our trip was squid and that we wanted to start at the morning market and then have Yobuko squid again for lunch before heading home the next evening, but they offered almost no advice on how to get around or any recommendations. Even if things were not running as usual due to the rain, I felt their attitude toward guests who made the effort to come was unkind. In the end, since we had a Reservation with dinner included, we couldn’t go to the morning market and ate breakfast at the Hotel instead. However, even though I added breakfast the night before, we were charged exactly the same price as walk-in guests. When I asked whether this was the price for a two-meal stay, they replied curtly: “No. We can make it cheaper, but originally it was dinner only.” The property is new and our Room was comfortable. However, when it rains you can’t really use the outdoor bath because there is no roof. Also, dust and grime had built up on the metal latticework above, and when it rained everything washed down into the bath water—it felt unhygienic. Perhaps because no one was using it (or because there was a temperature display), even though there didn’t seem to be any drop in temperature, water wasn’t flowing from the spout and it remained still water. Circulation/heating/adding water may be unavoidable depending on facilities, but having it stopped entirely was disappointing. I also looked forward to using the spa’s hot stone sauna area (ganbanyoku), but perhaps by chance—because men and women share it—someone seemed either intoxicated or snoring so loudly with heavy breathing that I felt uneasy in such a small space and couldn’t relax at all, so I left quickly. The well-reviewed ice cream service ran from 9:00 to 23:00, so I couldn’t have any. I would have liked some after my morning bath. As for dinner—the part I looked forward to most—squid was available and we could eat it. This is minor detail-wise, but since each portion’s squid size differed greatly between us، they should have been more consistent; otherwise it feels awkward. When I mentioned it، they only said “that’s two portions.” In my case my friend shared theirs with me. And Saga beef was terrible. It was supposed to be loin، but almost all fat—I couldn’t eat it at all۔ It didn’t feel like “Saga beef” so much as fat with just a tiny bit of pink fiber attached۔ Nothing else at dinner stood out as delicious either۔ Overall، while our Room itself was good، with food like this，I don’t think what we paid matched what we received at all۔

    Relax and unwind with views of the beach and pine grove.

    We had a wonderful time—thank you. First, the guest room on the 7th floor of the West Wing had an amazing view. The spacious room also made it easy to relax. We chose the buffet for both dinner and breakfast, and it was among the best we’ve ever had. The desserts were also authentic and delicious. This is an Accommodation we would definitely like to visit again.

    Excellent!

    A trip for four adults. We stayed in the East Wing only. From the entrance, our excitement went up. The East Wing is new, and the Room was spacious—great. Not a buffet for breakfast or dinner; for dinner we went to the in-house restaurant called Shofu. Every dish that came out was delicious. The spa, hot stone sauna, and infinity bath were amazing. There were plenty of towels and bathrobes as well. One thing I noticed... The yukata loungewear is cute, but the other set of loungewear felt like something from a health spa, and it just didn’t suit us... That was the only disappointment. Still, it was truly a great Hotel. We live in Kansai, and we recommend it to everyone. I hope you’ll continue to maintain this level of quality. Thank you very much for this stay.

    It was very comfortable.

    We stayed here as five sisters. We first stayed last year, and the food, bath, and guest room were all very comfortable, so this was our second visit. If I could make one request, there were only two chairs in the living room, so we would have liked five.

    A Hotel You'll Want to Return To

    As on my previous stay, I had Club Lounge access with the Luxury Twin. The view is great, the Room is spacious, and the lighting is pleasantly bright. I was happy to find a good selection of ReFa products, and L’OCCITANE amenities were a lovely touch. Housekeeping was thorough, and I was able to enjoy a comfortable, quiet time. The Club Lounge food isn’t exceptionally outstanding, but because it’s not crowded, being able to dine in peace is the best part. Alcohol can be enjoyed without hesitation. The roast beef was especially delicious. Breakfast is a buffet with many guests, so even though I considered having dinner at the buffet as well, I chose the club for its calm atmosphere. I wonder what the dinner buffet is like… It might be nice if the Club Lounge offered a bit more of the buffet-style dishes too. Next time, I’m not sure whether to book another Luxury Twin with club access… It’s a tough choice. I was able to enjoy an escape from everyday life and felt truly refreshed.

    We were extremely satisfied!

    We stayed in the East Wing. The lobby, Room, spa—everything was spotless! Our Room had an ocean view with a wonderful, relaxing outlook. The view from the 8th-floor pool was amazing as well! We also loved the Chateraise welcome cake and ice cream, and it was great that the drinks in the refrigerator were free. We’d love to stay again.

    The spa in the East Wing is well worth experiencing.

    I wasn’t used to bathing in a swimsuit, so on the first day I used the 2nd-floor bath and steam sauna. With the ocean right in front of me, it felt wonderfully open and relaxing. My husband went to the rooftop thermal bath first and urged me to try it, so at 5:30 a.m. on the second morning I went up in my swimsuit. The water was pleasantly cooler, making it easy to unwind, and the ocean view from the rooftop was stunning—an excellent experience. I didn’t have time to try the Roman-style sauna or stone spa on the 2nd floor, so I’d love to take my time and enjoy them next visit.

    A Karatsu Onsen resort where one night wasn’t enough

    We stayed as a family of three (two adults and one elementary-school child) for one night during a 12-night trip around Kyushu. ●Location About an hour’s drive from Fukuoka. This Hotel is in the Niji-no-Matsubara area, close to Karatsu Castle, and sits along Karatsu Bay. ●Guest Room Most rooms are likely ocean-view. The East Wing, where we stayed, feels relatively new and features a white-based interior with soft pink accents, giving it a slightly wedding-venue-like elegance. From the balcony, Karatsu Bay spreads out right in front of you—an exceptionally open and airy room. ●Shared Facilities Exclusive to East Wing guests: a heated pool, swimsuit sauna, panoramic heated spa (swimwear required), fitness facilities, and more. Honestly, the shared facilities are so satisfying that it feels like the East Wing could be its own separate brand. The panoramic heated spa in particular has stunning views and is the kind of space that makes you want to take photos. There are also three different saunas with varying temperatures and concepts, making them easy to enjoy even for sauna beginners. Every Facility was comfortable—we found ourselves wanting to stay for hours. ●Dinner This depends on your Plan, but we had a Japanese course meal at the Japanese restaurant in the West Wing. It felt like classic traditional Japanese cuisine overall, but the live squid sashimi was outstanding—truly worthy of Karatsu. ●Breakfast Buffet at the restaurant on the first floor of the East Wing. From variety and local ingredients to live cooking stations, kid-friendly options, and even how beautifully everything was presented—it was an exceptionally well-executed buffet that felt like a model example. The layout and seating were also excellent and very comfortable. We also noticed carts provided for elderly guests to carry their food—something we hadn’t seen before—and appreciated that thoughtful touch. ●Overall Satisfaction Perhaps because they don’t heavily promote themselves to inbound travelers, most guests seemed to be Japanese. Considering the value relative to the Accommodation Fee, this felt like an excellent-value Hotel. We only stayed one night this time, but with such strong shared facilities and plenty of dining options on-site, it seems easy to enjoy 2–3 nights without getting bored. In summer an outdoor pool opens as well—and if you step right off the property you’re directly connected to a beach—so we’d love to return in summer next time.

    It was absolutely amazing.

    I stayed with my daughter. The Room was so cute, and the hair dryer was a ReFa—she was thrilled. The pool also had a stunning view and felt wonderful. The food was excellent too, and I’d love to stay again. Thank you.

    I’d definitely love to stay here again!

    This was my first visit to Karatsu, and I stayed at this Hotel. The location, Room, breakfast—everything was wonderful, and I was completely satisfied. The staff were all kind and attentive. During my 3-day, 2-night stay, I felt refreshed both physically and mentally. I would definitely like to stay again! Thank you very much for your warm hospitality.

    Family Trip

    We stayed in the East Wing as a group of three. We really enjoyed the Onsen, sauna, and pool. The hot stone spa warmed us through to the core, so we slept soundly at night. The beds were excellent. A friend who usually can’t sleep on their back said, “I slept well on my back,” and the third bed was also very comfortable. We were surprised at how spacious the Room was. Even with our suitcases open, there was still plenty of space. All drinks—including beer—were free, so we enjoyed them after bathing. Unfortunately, we couldn’t have the complimentary one ice cream per person because we came out of the Onsen after business hours had ended. What a shame—next time we’ll be more mindful of the time. We would like to stay again. For meals, we chose a Plan with breakfast buffet only. There was a wide variety, and we enjoyed it.
