    This is my second time.

    We had a very relaxing stay again this time. We are very satisfied with the thoughtful hospitality of the staff. It is a wonderful Accommodation. We would love to stay here again.

    Celebrating My Husband’s Birthday

    This was my first visit. Since it was for a birthday celebration, I splurged and made a Reservation for what seemed to be the best Room with a private Onsen. I was really looking forward to the in-Room Onsen, but the water was far too hot—at times the thermometer showed 60°C. When I turned off the hot spring tap to let it cool and checked later, the water level had dropped to about half. I didn’t want to add cold water because I thought it would dilute the spring source, but when I refilled it, it was still too hot to use. It was very disappointing. In that case, I should have booked one of the more affordable Rooms instead. Also, at dinner, the bonito in the amuse had a very strong fishy smell. Still, I truly appreciated your kind birthday celebration for me.

    The bath and meals are excellent.

    Set slightly above the coast and facing the national highway, it’s an outstanding location. The view of Sagami Bay and Oshima from the open-air bath is wonderful. The Onsen has an abundant flow, with just the right water quality and temperature for a truly relaxing soak. Dinner was Japanese-style French cuisine; each dish made careful use of local ingredients and was thoughtfully prepared—everything was excellent. Within the course, seafood included spiny lobster, and there were several meat options; I chose Izu roast pork. I took about two hours to enjoy it at a leisurely pace and finished every bite. The reception, dining, and other staff were very pleasant and attentive. This Accommodation is very good overall, but one drawback is the very long staircase up and down to the large public bath—understandable given the building’s layout.

    We were very satisfied with the warm hospitality at this Onsen Accommodation!

    Check-in was a relaxing experience in the lounge, where we were seated comfortably while the staff explained the complimentary hospitality services and helped us choose and make Reservations for dinner and breakfast. We started with afternoon tea—pancakes and soft-serve ice cream—which immediately set an elegant mood. After enjoying the Onsen, we visited the post-bath lounge for beer and ice pops, then before dinner there were drinks and alcohol served on the terrace or in the lobby. In the evening, there were sweets and nightcaps as well. We also appreciated the Shuttle Service to Kuroneiwa Bath. It’s only about a 5-minute walk, but since it’s uphill, it was very helpful. As a public open-air bath by the sea, it was amazing—the powerful sound of waves crashing against the rocks and the openness of the ocean view were unforgettable. Most impressive of all was dinner at teppanyaki. We enjoyed watching everything cooked right in front of us while chatting with the chef. This trip was also to celebrate our wedding anniversary, so we received wine service, special dishes, and photos—making it a truly memorable stay. It really lived up to its reputation as an Accommodation known for celebrations (Kissho Caren).

    Enhanced hospitality

    My first Onsen trip of the year. When I returned to this Accommodation—where I stay every year—for the first time in six months, they had introduced a new hospitality experience called “Terrace Night.” You can enjoy hot drinks on the terrace after dinner, but I skipped it this time because I didn’t want to get chilled after bathing. I’ll look forward to it next time. Last time, my stay coincided with Respect for the Aged Day, so there were many families and dinner felt a bit unsettled. This time, I was able to relax and enjoy a quieter atmosphere. The cherry blossoms by Aomi’s open-air bath were in full bloom, and soaking while viewing them was wonderful.

    (Shiawase) True to its name, an Accommodation for celebrations.

    After check-in, the first treat was afternoon tea: freshly baked pancakes and ice cream served on one plate. Because the weather was poor that day, we enjoyed aperitif time in the lobby rather than the courtyard—the second treat was sparkling wine. For our first bath, we visited the large public bath “Wagetsu.” Even though it was raining, we relaxed while looking out at cherry blossoms and Sagami Bay from the open-air bath. The post-bath beer and tokoroten service was a thoughtful touch. Dinner was a French kaiseki course called “A Journey of Sagami Bay.” The amuse-bouche—steamed oysters, consommé jelly, cauliflower mousse, yuzu purée, and squid—showcased the chef’s creativity. For sashimi, we had blackthroat seaperch, tuna, and red sea bream with freshly grated Amagi wasabi. Next came a complimentary firefly squid dish (pork pâté), followed by grilled spiny lobster with mayonnaise (and grilled fish head). Just when we thought that was the fish course, a generous sautéed spiny lobster (fish) arrived with impact. After an octopus (fish) salad interlude came the main course. I chose roasted Amagi venison leg with a sweet berry sauce; its rich lean meat really delivered that game flavor. My partner had roasted Kuroge Wagyu rib with Madeira sauce—excellent balance of fat and lean meat, perfectly cooked as well. For rice you can choose crab zosui or steamed white rice with red miso soup; I didn’t hesitate to pick the crab zosui (it was so good I asked for seconds). Bread is also served before the meal—be careful not to eat too much bread. Dessert included a seasonal cherry blossom roll cake, finishing with siphon coffee—or so we thought: staff brought out a birthday cake and celebration ball decoration for us all to sing along to Happy Birthday. Pure happiness! At 8:30 p.m., night sweets time offered macarons and financiers alongside whisky, brandy, and shochu—but after such a filling dinner we could only look before retreating early. Our third treat ended up being a pass. Before breakfast we headed to another large public bath, “Hekikai.” Going early meant it was empty, so I enjoyed all three open-air baths on my own. This bathhouse felt even better—and there was tokoroten service again in the morning too. Breakfast was a Japanese set meal: small dishes of natto fermented soybeans; simmered Wagyu in sweet soy; Nanko ume pickled plum; simmered kombu; and nori seaweed. The sashimi item was minced horse mackerel (namero). The steamed dish was furofuki daikon topped with nori-thickened sauce; grilled items were dried fatty horse mackerel and mirin-dried mackerel. Then came rolled omelet and salad plus shirasu rice porridge, followed by steamed white rice with miso soup and pickles after that sequence finished up at last dessert then Izu guri tea brought this trip to an end

    I was very satisfied!

    The Room, bath, and service were all perfect. The meals were delicious as well. Dinner was great, but the omelet and French toast at breakfast were exceptional—I’d love to have them again.\nThe library corner in the lobby had a great selection, and I enjoyed reading on the sofa for a while with the complimentary drinks and snacks.\nAll of the staff were kind, and thanks to their wonderful hospitality, I was able to truly relax. I would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much!

    It was very good.

    Dinner was teppanyaki, and it was included as a complimentary service. The performance was great as well. They also provided a special service for our anniversary, which made us very happy.

    A fulfilling 2-day, 1-night stay

    This is our sixth celebratory trip. We travel throughout the whole country, and this Accommodation has become our go-to choice for anniversaries. From the teppanyaki to the heartfelt hospitality, we could always feel their care and once again enjoyed a truly comfortable stay.

    An Accommodation that the whole family will be delighted with.

    We stayed for one night on my son’s 18th birthday. After we arrived, we had pancakes first, and the sweet dessert was just what we needed after a long drive. For dinner, we chose teppanyaki. The chef was friendly and a great conversationalist, and even picked up from our conversation that my husband has foods he doesn’t like—then kindly changed the sauce for him. We truly appreciated the thoughtful attention to detail. The food was delicious as well. Because it was my son’s birthday, they celebrated with a cake, spiny lobster, and a kusudama ball drop, which made him very happy. My only regret is that the kusudama opened suddenly from behind us with “Happy Birthday,” and I wish I had filmed it... The open-air bath was so, so wonderful—I went in many times. After bathing, we enjoyed tokoroten and ice cream, had drinks on the terrace too, and there were so many services that made our stay really fun. We chose Japanese breakfast; the dashimaki tamago was incredibly delicious! A staff member also offered to take photos for us, which we really appreciated since it’s rare to get all of us in one picture. They also took photos during the kusudama celebration at dinner time and gave us printed copies—such a lovely touch. There were four of us as a family, and everyone was very satisfied—we were already talking about coming back before we even left. One small disappointment: when another guest checked out before us, two staff members saw them off outside by their car, but for us it ended at the front desk. Still, overall we were extremely satisfied. It truly lives up to its name as an Accommodation for celebrations, and I plan to recommend it to friends around me.

    Wedding Anniversary

    We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Kissho again this year. Last year we stayed at Kisshotei, and this year at CAREN. The thoughtful touches—such as the mizuhiki chopstick rests, a celebratory sparkling toast, and a commemorative photo—always warm our hearts. Dinner was teppanyaki for the first time, and everything was outstanding: venison served with fresh hon-wasabi, elegantly sweet beef, and exquisite sashimi. We also enjoyed lively conversation with the chef and had a wonderful time. Breakfast was delicious item by item, and we ended up having several bowls of rice from the morning. The entire property was spotless everywhere, and the bath in our Room was spacious as well. We were able to relax fully and enjoy a truly wonderful stay. We have been visiting Kitagawa Onsen for many years, but Kissho is the best. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Wishing everyone continued good health.

    Ocean-view natural hot spring bath with free-flowing water direct from the source

    During the January three-day weekend, strong winds across the whole country made ferry operations uncertain, so we changed our plans at short notice and stayed nearby. Even though it was last-minute, we were able to make a Reservation at an Accommodation where we could soak in an Onsen while looking out at the sea. The interior was lovely as well, with stained-glass lighting and charming Taisho-modern decor. As this was an anniversary trip, they prepared a beautifully presented celebration plate with festive touches. We were truly happy and felt warmly welcomed—thank you very much. The next day, we stopped by Ito for the first time in a while and visited retro spots, including Tokaikan, which was once used as a film location. We also got to ride the new Saphir Odoriko train. The ease of access from central Tokyo is another part of what makes traveling in Izu so appealing.

    I was satisfied again this time.

    Thank you, as always, for your wonderful service. We enjoyed everything from the pancakes to the night bar in the lobby. The teppanyaki cuisine was excellent as ever. We also received a complimentary full bottle of wine as a Diamond benefit and enjoyed it very much. The Facility and Room are starting to feel a bit dated, but the quality of the Onsen makes you forget all about that. The amenities were well stocked, and my wife was very pleased. We look forward to staying with you again.

    It was a wonderful Ryokan for the price.

    I think this is a wonderful long-established Ryokan, with welcome sweets and more. The female staff member at the front desk felt a bit businesslike, which concerned me slightly, but the service from the staff during meals (the proprietress?) was excellent. If you add more Rooms with beds, I think even more elderly guests will come. The meals are outstanding. I hope the Tsuruya Main Building reopens soon.

    The Ryokan was spacious and relaxing. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with generous portions. The staff were all courteous, and their friendly yet respectful manner was very pleasant. This is now one of the Ryokan I would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    The Room gets very dry.

    I stayed in winter, but the air purifier’s humidifier didn’t work at all even when set to humidify. When I checked, the tank was empty and I had to fill it myself. Even after adding water and running it, it still didn’t humidify, so I ended up wetting several towels to add moisture. The open-air bath and the view from the scenic open-air bath were amazing, but that was the one thing that bothered me.

    A Cozy Accommodation

    When the staff escorted us to our Room, they told us the timing of the “Moon Road,” which made it easy to plan our schedule, including when to bathe. Thanks to that, we were able to see it beautifully. There are many repeat guests, and I felt this is an Accommodation that has been loved for a long time. Tea service is available throughout the property, so everything felt stress-free. We borrowed a book in the lounge and brought coffee back to our Room, then relaxed while gazing at the sea. It’s a great Accommodation for a quiet stay-in getaway. We didn’t have anything to celebrate this time, but other guests were breaking open celebration balls and having photos taken—it looked like fun. I’d love to visit again if I have the chance.

    The building and the...

    The building and the Room feel a bit dated in places. The open-air bath is relaxing if you don’t overlap with other guests. For the lounge service (alcohol), it’s too cold to stay outside in midwinter even with a heater. Given the price, I would like it to feel a bit more upscale. The meals were average.

    Sunrise View from the Panorama Bath

    I reserved a room with an onsen and a scenic view, hoping to relax in comfort. It was the perfect choice—on the next morning, I enjoyed watching the sunrise while soaking in the onsen in my room, spending a leisurely and luxurious time. For dinner, I chose teppanyaki. The portions were generous, and I also enjoyed the chef's performance. Unexpectedly, they celebrated our wedding anniversary and served complimentary wine during our meal; their thoughtful gestures were truly impressive. At departure, staff members kindly took photos for us at the lobby and main entrance, making our stay pleasant until the very end. Everyone was kind, especially the shuttle service driver who left a lasting impression with his kindness. The library had many books of interest; next time, I hope to spend some relaxing moments there with a book in hand. Thank you very much!

    Well-maintained

    It had been a while since my last visit. The building and Facility show some age, but they were well-maintained. The meals were pleasant and delicious. I used the spa, and both the service and treatment provided a wonderful experience. I would like to stay here again if I have the chance.

    We stayed as a couple in Room 503 Byakudan. It was a wonderful accommodation that provided relaxation and healing. Thank you very much. The room was well-equipped with amenities and beverages, making it comfortable. The private open-air bath had the perfect temperature, size, and view, which we thoroughly enjoyed. However, since our room was on the 5th floor, the restaurant building's roof slightly obstructed the view; next time, we would like to stay on a higher floor. The large public bath and outdoor baths were also excellent and comfortable. The massage service at the post-bath lounge along with tokoroten jelly and ice cream were delightful touches; however, the stairs leading to the large public bath might be challenging for elderly guests. We were impressed by the pancake, tea, and soft-serve ice cream service prepared right in front of us upon arrival. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying in terms of taste and portion size. Having stayed at several renowned accommodations before, this is definitely one we would love to visit again if given another opportunity!

    We chose this accommodation to stay at Kitagawa Onsen. Since it is known as a "celebration accommodation," we decided to celebrate my mother's 77th birthday here. The celebration was grand, and my mother was overjoyed. It was a truly delightful time. There were enjoyable services like pancakes and drinks at the aperitif terrace, making the stay entertaining without any dull moments. The onsen, including the open-air bath, was very satisfying as well. However, since it was the year-end season with many guests, meal service took longer than expected... But considering that we could just return to our room after dinner, it wasn't much of an issue. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay!

    Exceptional hospitality!

    As a returning guest, I always enjoy the variety of services offered, from check-in to afternoon tea and alcoholic beverages, as well as the Onsen. The hot wine in winter was absolutely delicious. The champagne, cake, and photo service for our anniversary were greatly appreciated. It was a very satisfying stay with excellent value for money.

    A place I would love to visit again.

    It was a perfect choice, even though I picked this Hotel by chance. The Hotel itself is not very large, but the food was delicious, the service was heartfelt and attentive, and every detail was well-considered. I was thoroughly satisfied. The view from the Onsen of the moonlit path on the sea at night and the sunlit path at sunrise were breathtakingly beautiful and moving. Highly recommended!

    This is my second st...

    This is my second stay. The teppanyaki I had last time was delicious, so I chose teppanyaki again this time. I stayed in a room with an open-air bath and enjoyed relaxing with multiple baths. The pancake and drink service made me feel like I got great value. The 2:00 PM check-in and 11:00 AM check-out are rare and very convenient. This is one of the accommodations I would love to stay at again.

    One of the attractio...

    One of the attractions is the time you can enjoy at the Hotel, such as afternoon tea and evening sweets. Dinner was French with a Japanese fusion touch, allowing us to savor various seafood dishes with just the right portion size. It was delightful to have unlimited refills of delicious bread. The Room with an Onsen was excellent, allowing for a relaxing bath anytime. Although the public bath is not very large, it offers stunning views of Oshima Island and the sea in the distance. There are two baths that alternate use; however, one outdoor bath felt slightly small, so I would rate it 4 out of 5. The staff were all attentive and dedicated to ensuring guests' comfort, making our stay pleasant and enjoyable. Their thoughtful gestures during meals or at checkout—like offering to take photos or engaging at just the right moments—were truly appreciated.
