I was surprised to be told it was my 25th stay.
Thank you for your kind hospitality once again. We thoroughly enjoyed Chef Hashimoto's French cuisine. After check-out, we safely arrived at our destination exactly 5 minutes early.

Simply the best.
Simply outstanding. It’s rare to find an accommodation where every detail is so meticulously attended to without any compromise. The live piano performances during tea time and dinner are lightly arranged in a cheerful manner, greatly enhancing the atmosphere. However, live performances are not held daily, and the performers vary, so enjoying one depends on your luck. The dinner appetizers are particularly creative, featuring a surprisingly melt-in-your-mouth quiche and uniquely flavorful shiitake mushrooms unlike anything you've tasted before. As expected from a dessert café, the variety of teas and desserts is truly impressive. While it’s not an accommodation you can stay at casually due to its price point, it feels worth every penny for what you receive. I would love to stay here again!

Thank you as always. This time, we visited when it got a bit warmer. We were able to enjoy the fireplace just in time. Recently, staying here and having breakfast has become one of our main purposes. The exhibition on the designation as an Important Cultural Property was also very interesting. Thank you very much.

A Place of Relaxation
"Welcome back!" greeted with a warm smile, I enjoyed a relaxing and leisurely stay. On the first night, I had beef stew and cake at the café. On the second night, I dined on French cuisine at Le Chêne. The main dish of Nanatani duck was exquisite, and it was my first time trying Miyama venison and Kyotango wild boar—both were absolutely delicious. Since I don't drink alcohol, I opted for non-alcoholic pairings that perfectly complemented the dishes, enhancing their flavors even more. I’ve truly fallen in love with game meat cuisine. No matter which season you visit, you can always enjoy a wonderfully soothing experience. This time, I relaxed by watching the flames of the fireplace. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Chourakukan!

A Hotel Where You Can Experience the Meiji Era's Perception of the West
As described, both the exterior and interior reflect what people of the time might have admired. Additionally, the modern hospitality is more than satisfactory. This time, we enjoyed a cozy stay with the fireplace lit. No matter how many times you visit, you can spend your time here without any issues or complaints. On a side note, unlike other luxury Hotels, not hearing loud foreign languages might also contribute to a comfortable stay.

The Long-Awaited Fireplace
This was my second stay. I completed the reservation last year, hoping to relax by the fireplace during summer. I truly appreciate the extraordinary experience provided. The thoughtful attention from all the staff is unmatched. Thank you for your hospitality.

Luxurious feeling
This was my first stay. As a privilege for guests, there was a room tour of normally private areas such as the Onari-no-Ma, and we received a detailed explanation. The room was spacious with a fireplace, providing an indulgent atmosphere. We dined out, so when we returned, the fireplace was lit and it was lovely. From the window, you could see the drooping cherry blossoms of Maruyama Park right below; during cherry blossom season they are illuminated and must be spectacular. The room where we had breakfast was also wonderful; the initial vegetable juice was exquisite and I even had seconds of orange juice. Breakfast served on white Meissen tableware featured carefully selected ingredients that felt top-notch in every way. I would like to visit again in another season.

You will be served game cuisine.
There were several contacts from the Hotel, but I was not informed about the menu. On the night of my stay, I was surprised to see a game dish menu (two dishes of deer and boar). The seasoning was strong, giving the impression that they were expecting drink sales.

Not only is the main building designated as an Important Cultural Property of the country, but the hospitality of the staff is simply outstanding. Due to my work, I stay at various hotels, but it's rare to find a hotel where the staff treats guests with such care and affection. The staff guided us to see a Japanese-style room at the top of the main building, and we were told that in spring, you can get a panoramic view of Maruyama Park's cherry blossoms. I immediately made a reservation for when they are expected to be in full bloom. In other words, I am confident that I can expect another wonderful stay next time. Many people have given it full marks on IKYU's Review section, and while I was skeptical thinking "Is it really true?"... it was indeed true. I'm already looking forward to my next stay.

A place to relax and unwind
This hotel, which could be classified as a Small Luxury Hotel, has such a history that the main building is designated as an Important Cultural Property of the country. When staying here, you can also tour the Japanese-style rooms on the third floor and above of the main building, allowing you to feel the beauty of the architectural style of that time. The staff members, while handling multiple roles individually, responded to each request with care, making time feel as if it passed slowly. Additionally, the fireplace available from December to March was so warm that it seemed to last forever, and the crackling sound in the quiet of the night made me forget the everyday hustle. It is a hotel I definitely want to visit again.

I think I mostly understood, so it seems like it will go better next time. Be careful as the conversation might get lengthy. I stayed next to an important cultural property, but it's fine that the cultural property cannot be seen from the Room window.

The best stay
During my long-term overseas business trip, I stayed at Chourakukan (Chourakukan) after a long wait. I have stayed at various luxury hotels, but Chourakukan (Chourakukan) is a truly exceptional hotel that stands out from the rest. The time spent at the café in the main building, which is a nationally important cultural property, and the amenities such as pajamas, bathrobes, and skincare sets from Chidoriya (Chidoriya) are all carefully selected with heartfelt consideration, providing true relaxation. The wonderful dinner and breakfast are also must-try delicacies that you should experience at least once. Lastly, the most noteworthy aspect is the heartfelt hospitality of the staff. It is genuine, sincere service from the heart. If you come to Kyoto, you should definitely stay at Chourakukan (Chourakukan) at least once. Satisfaction and relaxation from the heart await you. I have already made reservations for March, April, and June to experience the different seasons. Finally, thank you to everyone at Chourakukan (Chourakukan) for another wonderful stay.

The atmosphere is filled with Christmas spirit.
I was able to stay at the classic Hotel I had always dreamed of. After checking in, I first viewed the usually private Onari Room and other rooms of the guesthouse with explanations from the staff. I was impressed by the grandeur of the tobacco king. All the staff here provided perfect hospitality and first-class manners, making my stay truly comfortable. I am sincerely grateful. I also had the limited-time Napoleon pie at the café, which was so delicious, including the sauce, that it was a shame it was only available for eat-in. The entire Hotel was filled with a Christmas atmosphere, and with the enjoyment of the fireplace in the Room, this time of year might be the best to visit. The breakfast served in the guest room was also wonderful, with each dish carefully presented. I leisurely enjoyed it over an hour and a half. Dinner was classical French, so it was modest in flamboyance, but the ingredients were reliable. It was a memorable Christmas stay.

A wonderful accommodation.
I previously visited for afternoon tea and always wanted to stay here. The accommodation is in a new building with retro-style rooms featuring fireplaces, yet the facilities are modern and comfortable. Having the fireplace lit was a delightful touch. With only a few rooms, the small team of staff managed various tasks such as guiding guests to their rooms, providing facility tours, and serving at the restaurant. All staff members were professional and provided excellent service. Guests can enjoy services like facility tours, access to an observation floor, and tea in the tearoom—all of which were highly enjoyable. I stayed until just before check-out time and even enjoyed tea after checking out. For meals, I only had breakfast which included fresh orange juice, salad, bread with jam, an omelet, homemade sausage, yogurt with fruit, and tea—all deliciously prepared for a leisurely dining experience.

I think it's a good idea to use it for stays.
The attentive care made it a pleasant stay, as if I had visited many times before. Since it was November, I thought I wouldn't be able to experience the fireplace, but they lit it for us as it had recently gotten colder, and the crackling sound of the burning wood was soothing. Also, the underfloor heating was helpful as it didn't make my throat sore. The facility tour of Chourakukan is not only enjoyable but also educational, so I recommend experiencing it when you stay. I think it's a good idea to go to Kyoto not just for sightseeing, but to stay at Chourakukan.

Relaxing Stays
A very warm Stays that listens to our requests with care through greetings, farewells, and phone calls the day before. While some places have machines for check-in and payment, here the front desk staff listens to all requests and responds accordingly. It is a Stays that leaves nothing to be desired. The food is also delicious. The location is excellent, and we were able to walk to Kiyomizu-dera for a morning stroll. The view is also great. I would like to use it again.

The hotel I had long...
The hotel I had long admired. There was a vacancy, so I visited. Although I arrived later than planned, I was warmly welcomed. Check-in was at the Madilabar. The grandeur was overwhelming. After receiving a tour of the property, I felt it was an even more wonderful building. The room is quite comfortable. The bathroom is user-friendly, and when sitting on the sofa, you can see the greenery outside. The amenities are from Jidoriya, and the scent is soothing. The towels are fluffy. They are the softest towels I've ever had in a hotel. I chose a French dinner, even though I was alone. I requested a smaller portion and wine pairing. I was satisfied with the local and seasonal ingredients. Some other guests were wearing kimonos, which I felt matched the atmosphere. Since I had an early departure in the morning, I chose the breakfast menu yesterday. I requested fewer eggs for the omelet, and the beautiful browning impressed me. Other guests praised the staff for their "polite language." Indeed, what makes this hotel an even more wonderful space is the staff's courteous service and demeanor. It was unfortunate that I couldn't relax this time, but I would like to stay leisurely next time.

I want to make it my regular Stays in Kyoto.
I made a reservation because I liked the atmosphere of the building and wanted to stay, but from the moment I arrived, the staff's response was excellent. Perhaps because there are only six guest rooms, all the staff provided attentive service until checkout, allowing me to stay without any stress. Not only the main building but also the construction of the accommodation wing was lovely. The price was somewhat high for me, so I reserved the most affordable room, but next time I would like to stay in a room where I can enjoy the view from the bathroom. Since the fireplace is lit from the cold days of December, January or February would be nice. There is a lounge on the 4th floor of the accommodation wing that only guests can use, so it might be best if you can choose a room on the 4th floor. Breakfast is from 8 o'clock, so it's best to plan a leisurely morning. I like croissants, but the blueberry jam was so delicious that I ended up having toast as well. The cigar chocolates sold at the hotel's shop were very delicious. I would like to visit again.

Perfect score after a long time
Just one word: amazing. There's nothing more to say. While Kyoto is filled with many so-called luxury hotels, this one stands out. Foreign-owned expensive hotels are indeed good, but they don't target Japanese guests, so they aren't worth the price. If I were to recommend a genuine property in Kyoto that will satisfy you, it would undoubtedly be Tawaraya or Chourakukan. You'll understand their excellence once you stay there.

On your birthday.
Having had a wonderful stay last time, I made an early reservation this time to coincide with my birthday (as it would be more economical) and was looking forward to visiting. On the day of my stay, it was pouring rain, and when I informed them that I would be arriving earlier than planned, they confirmed that the room was ready and accommodated me graciously. I was guided to my room for a relaxed check-in instead of the lounge, allowing me to complete the procedures comfortably. Dinner was a delightful French cuisine that pleased both the eyes and the palate, and it turned out to be a private dinner just for us, making it a memorable birthday stay. For breakfast, I was looking forward to the freshly squeezed tomato juice, soup, and salad, which were delicious. I was savoring them slowly, and when the dining time ended, I felt sorry that I had to take the fruits and yogurt to my room, but the staff showed no displeasure, reaffirming their hospitality. Each staff member responds with such care that it makes me want to visit again. I would love to find another opportunity to visit. Thank you very much.
