    An auberge with the scent of Hokkaido

    1-minute walk from the bus stop. Free drinks from 3:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A convenience shop open 24 hours. Well-stocked amenities. Premium coffee you can grind yourself. An open-air bath in your Room plus a free private reservable open-air bath. A varied dinner and breakfast, plus an extra dish from the head chef. Ingredients sourced from Hokkaido. Wonderful hospitality from the staff. It was an outstanding Accommodation with some touches that reminded us of traveling in Hokkaido.

    Enjoy the refreshing breeze from the north!

    This was our second stay. Just like last time, it was a wonderful experience. From the welcome tea to dinner and breakfast, we were able to enjoy Hokkaido ingredients throughout, and it was one delight after another. The optional filefish sashimi was excellent, and we were also served several off-menu items—each one outstanding with beautifully flavorful dashi. We could really feel the sense of the season, so we’d love to visit again in summer or autumn as well. It rained that day so we couldn’t use the private bath, but we still had more than enough to enjoy with the Onsen in our Room and the massage chair. If I had to mention a few negatives: at dinner, the timing for taking drink orders wasn’t great. Even though we ordered a pairing, the dishes kept coming before the drinks arrived—I would have liked them to ask a bit earlier. Also, although it may be unavoidable depending on the season, there were many mosquitoes and they were very bothersome. The frogs were also quite loud at night and it was hard to sleep. After check-in, there was also a huge spider in the corner of our Room; we dealt with it using insect spray, but I’m not sure how long it had been there. We would like to stay again if given the chance, and hope these points can be improved even slightly. Thank you very much for your hospitality this time.

    The service was frie...

    The service was friendly and excellent from check-in to check-out. Meals were served at just the right times to match our pace, so we had a very enjoyable time. It was a bit disappointing that the Room layout felt slightly inconvenient and that the indoor bath was smaller than expected. Overall, it offered great value for money and was a good Accommodation.

    I was deeply impressed by the meals on my previous visit and had been hoping to return—at last, I was able to. The food was delicious. It was also lightly seasoned, which felt healthy. Regarding the pre-arrival call: I received it while at work, so I asked that you call me back. However, I never heard from you afterward. Even though I arrived first on the day, I couldn’t secure a Reservation for the private bath that day and had to book it for the next morning. That said, after dinner a staff member informed me of a cancellation, and I was able to use it at night, which I truly appreciated. I was also looking forward to the private bath in the morning because I was told, “Please go ahead as is,” but for some reason another guest’s Reservation was added and mine was canceled. I wasn’t informed until breakfast time. I would have appreciated a quick confirmation. In fact, smoke from the neighboring smoking Room constantly drifted into the open-air bath on the balcony, making it unusable. This was very disappointing. I would like the balcony to be non-smoking. Also, it would be helpful for both guests and staff if you could provide written notes with bathing and meal times. Given that this is not an inexpensive stay—and after finally being able to visit—it was truly disappointing that cigarette smoke prevented me from using the bath.

    Excellent food and wonderful staff

    Although it’s described as a “Japanese auberge,” it wasn’t overly traditional; rather, it felt like creative cuisine rooted in Japanese flavors. The many elaborate dishes and the inventive combinations of ingredients truly impressed me. The staff were also excellent—guiding us around the property and explaining the Room with pleasant, smiling service. During the meal, their explanations of each dish were smooth and clear, which I found admirable. The Room did feel a bit dated in places, but I was able to relax and spend time comfortably. There was a set that allowed me to grind coffee beans myself, which made me excited and I used it right away. The selection of amenities was also plentiful. However, it was disappointing that the coffee set and many amenities around the sink were lined up in a very small space, making them difficult to use. (I think they don’t all need to be left out in plain sight—if some were stored under the sink, for example, and during the Room explanation guests were told “Amenities are stored here,” people could take only what they need and keep the sink area tidy. The coffee set was also packed into an extremely tight spot, so I felt some adjustments might be needed—such as changing where it’s placed or using a slightly smaller TV.) Still, this is an Accommodation where I definitely want to return for the chef’s料理 again—and next time I’d like to bring my son and his wife as well. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    The entrance area is...

    The entrance area is new and nice, but the guest room felt old and had stains in many places, which was a bit unpleasant. There were also steps here and there in the room, and I was slightly worried about tripping on the way to the bathroom at night. The only saving grace was that the food was delicious.

    I felt truly refreshed and at ease.

    Thank you for the warm hospitality at this wonderful, serene Hotel, where we enjoyed the Onsen and delicious meals. The meal featured a spring-inspired menu with beautiful presentation and performance, and we thoroughly enjoyed kaiseki cuisine that delighted all five senses. The refined service from all the staff and the helpful sightseeing information for the next day were greatly appreciated.

    We stayed here as a couple to celebrate my birthday. Our top priority when choosing an Accommodation is the food, followed by a comfortable environment and Room.     A place you’ll want to visit in every season

    I stayed here for the first time last autumn. The meals were so good that I came back again this time. The food featured a beautifully seasonal spring menu, and I was very satisfied again. The kelp-and-bonito broth that impressed me last time was served properly again this time! The bath also seemed cloudier than last time, and it was excellent. Since the hot spring source is natural, I guess the level of cloudiness varies from day to day. Please let me visit again around the time the summer menu starts.

    For the first time in seven years

    Since it first opened 15 years ago, we have stayed here several times, and this time we returned for the first time in seven years due to COVID and other circumstances. While some facilities show the passage of time over those 15 years, the moss in the garden has only become more beautiful—it was so lovely it made us forget about the rain. What truly defines this Accommodation, though, is Chef Suzuki’s cuisine (I hear you have become the manager—congratulations). You could say we came just for that. Simply delicious. That said, this time the final sweets felt a little underwhelming. The quality of the water in the open-air bath in our Room was as wonderful as ever, but it was very disappointing that the indoor bath was no longer an Onsen. Is that due to changes in Hakone’s overall hot-spring supply? The staff were perfect—100 out of 100! To M., who took care of us during our meal: your service made everything taste twice as good. Thank you. My wife also said, “This is still our place in Hakone.” With her seal of approval, we will be back again. Thank you once again.

    This Accommodation offers a relaxing and enjoyable stay, with both the Onsen and meals providing comfort.

    We visited by the hiking bus from Odawara. As the area around Yumoto gets crowded, if you plan to take the bus, it’s best to allow plenty of time both going and returning. From welcome to farewell, the staff were consistently courteous and left a great impression. I also appreciated being able to check in directly in our Room, as well as the hospitality of drinks and sweets in the Room lounge. Both the open-air bath in the Room and the private open-air bath are outdoors, so it may feel cold in midwinter. The Room had bathrobes, so moving from the indoor bath to the balcony wasn’t too inconvenient, but I would have appreciated having them for the private bath as well. Since it was allergy season, I also wished there had been tissues. Personally, I was very happy they provided comfortable samue loungewear and sleepwear—essential for relaxing. All amenities were provided, so we could stay with minimal luggage. The meals were wonderful; both dinner and breakfast featured delicious rice cooked in a traditional pot, which truly impressed me. The dishes were beautiful to look at, generally lightly seasoned to highlight each ingredient with flavorful dashi broth, and everything was explained carefully—so we could take our time savoring each course. The dashi chazuke served midway was very tasty, but since rice is served again at the end, something lighter might have been enough. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious; however, at both dinner and breakfast, it was very disappointing that the black tea served at the end was extremely weak and only lukewarm. I love tea and had been looking forward to enjoying it with dessert, but it didn’t match the quality of the cuisine—so I had hot tea in the lounge before leaving. Other than that one point, this is an outstanding Accommodation with almost nothing to criticize. I was also happy with the souvenir included as an IKYU Diamond member benefit.

    The Ultimate Relaxing Retreat

    Once again, it was a truly relaxing stay in every way. We will visit again in a different season. To the Head Chef, We have stayed at many Accommodations in Hakone and Izu, and we believe this was the best cuisine of them all. The creativity, flavor, and presentation were outstanding, and we were impressed by every ingredient. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

    Everything was excellent!

    The French-inspired kaiseki cuisine, made with carefully selected ingredients from Hokkaido, was exceptional and truly outstanding. In addition, the Room was stylish, and the private open-air bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water was amazing—I fully enjoyed the milky hot springs of Sengokuhara. I plan to make this my regular Accommodation for future Hakone trips!

    Maintain top-tier quality

    I was a little anxious about visiting again after a long time, but that feeling disappeared the moment I was welcomed. The Accommodation has a calm atmosphere and first-class furnishings throughout, and I was satisfied with everything—from the in-room Onsen to the meals and the staff’s service. The hot stone sauna left me with a light, refreshing sweat and warmed me to the core, offering an Onsen indulgence different from bathing—absolutely wonderful. This is one of the Accommodations I’d love to return to.

    The service is excellent.

    From arrival to departure, the service left a very positive impression. Perhaps because there is ample space between Rooms, I couldn’t hear any noise from other Rooms and was able to spend my time quietly. Overall, I was satisfied with the meals as well. In particular, the main dish—Japanese beef with celeriac purée and a raspberry sauce—was well balanced and made me want to eat it again. That said, the Room felt somewhat dated, and I’m not sure how to feel about the tatami making noise every time you walk on it. Also, I noticed HARNN amenities in the souvenir shop—a brand I’ve purchased at a department store before—so I expected to be able to use them while relaxing in the in-room bath. However, they were not provided in either the in-room bath or the private bath; having them only in the shared corridor restroom feels far too stingy. Although there are two baths in the Room, it also seemed like no hot water had been drawn for one of them—perhaps as a cost-saving measure. Compared with previous Reviews, I can’t deny that there were several changes that felt like downgrades. Since we stayed on a good-value Plan this time, it’s hard for me to be overly critical—but if you ask whether I would return at full price, honestly… I’m not sure.

    Unchanging hospitality, always.

    This was our first stay since last September. Once again, we were impressed and delighted by the seasonal cuisine. Next time, we look forward to visiting in spring to enjoy spring ingredients. If you are considering making a Reservation for the first time, we highly recommend staying here. You will definitely want to come back. Hakone in winter is also wonderfully atmospheric.

    Overall satisfied

    This was my second visit. All the staff were kind and made me feel very welcome. The Room shows its age, but it was thoroughly cleaned and I had no inconveniences at all—very relaxing. The Onsen was excellent, and I enjoyed soaking many times at a leisurely pace. You can tell everything is prepared with great care. That said, I’d like to see a bit more effort with the sashimi. The celery sauce served with the meat dish was very delicious. Personally, I preferred the autumn menu overall. The miso soup at breakfast tasted like it had neither dashi nor miso flavor, but everything else was tasty. Having visited in autumn and winter, I’ll be back to enjoy the spring dishes.

    The food was delicious.

    I don’t usually write a Review, but I’m posting this because my stay left me feeling disappointed. Various things happened during our stay, but the last straw was at check-out. One staff member followed behind our family as we were leaving, but made no move to help with our luggage… (they did help when we arrived). They just watched us load the car. They must have seen frost on the windshield too, yet said nothing… Only after a while—when we went to ask for hot water—did they finally pick up a bucket near the entrance (even though it was already set out there!). Was it really that hard to simply say, “Shall I bring you some hot water?” and prepare it for us? We had been looking forward to this Accommodation because of the milky-white Onsen… It’s such a shame. The food was delicious, but we still left feeling disappointed.

    A relaxing Accommodation

    Two days before our stay, we received a phone call informing us that there would be construction next to our Room and that there would be noise for several hours during our stay. We were told it could also be heard from the open-air bath in the Room, which made us uneasy. When I said I wanted to discuss it briefly with my family and would call back, they replied that another Room where the noise could not be heard was available and we could move. At first, we were told to just put up with it, so I was disappointed with the response, and it dampened my mood a little for a trip I had been looking forward to. The Room and Facility were wonderful, and we were able to relax in the underground bath. There were many dishes and they were carefully prepared, but the flavors were not particularly memorable. The rice variety was different at dinner and breakfast, and both were very delicious. Thank you.

    We stayed here at the end of the year.

    We took an Onsen trip as a family of four for the first time in a while. It’s quite a compact Accommodation, but we could really feel the staff working together as a team to provide great service, and we had a comfortable stay. The meals were of a very high standard and well worth the price. Alcoholic drinks, including wine, were priced on the higher side for the selection, so it would be even better if they were a bit more affordable.

    Perfect for a relaxing stay.

    We stayed as a couple. The Room was divided into a Japanese-style room, dining area, and Western-style bedroom, allowing both of us to enjoy our stay comfortably. What we particularly liked was the bath on the floor below, with excellent water quality and temperature. They offered two types of beer—Super Dry and Yebisu—and local Hakone sake (Junmai Ginjo), which could be enjoyed by floating a bucket in the hot water—a delightful touch. After bathing, we relaxed in massage chairs or read books borrowed from the library, enjoying blissful moments. The library and complimentary drinks in the refrigerator were great features, as well as free-flowing draft beer (two types), wine, plum wine, whiskey/highball available at the lobby lounge—a signature service of Noguchi Kanko. We chose this Ryokan because of its reputation for excellent cuisine. While the presentation and creativity were outstanding, the taste did not leave a lasting impression; however, the freshly cooked Fukkurinko rice was exceptionally delicious. The building was clean with beautiful decor. Although it lacked traditional hospitality from seasoned Ryokan hosts or attendants, we appreciated its modern operation led by young staff members.

    Highly Satisfied

    This was my first visit, and I was completely satisfied with everything. Regarding the meals, not only were they delicious, but their presentation was also delightful. I found myself eagerly anticipating how the next dish would appear and ended up finishing everything. As for the Onsen, the cloudy water with a hint of sulfur aroma was perfect in temperature, and I couldn't resist soaking multiple times. For the spa treatment, I had a facial which was handled very professionally. I even fell asleep during the session, and my skin felt amazing from the next day onward. The staff were kind and attentive to every detail, leaving a great impression on me. This time it was just my husband and me visiting, but next time I'd love to come with our child who loves food!

    I stayed with my parents, and the creatively prepared dishes were incredibly delicious, especially the ones with broth, which were outstanding. I would love to visit again. One point to mention is that the slippers used inside the Ryokan were a bit slippery, which made my elderly parents feel slightly uneasy.

    I stayed here for the first time on a special day. I was able to give the flower gift successfully, and the surprise was a success. Thank you so much. Normally, I don't feel like staying at the same accommodation again, but I was completely satisfied with the food, onsen, room atmosphere, and service. I would love to stay here again.

    A relaxing accommodation with only 10 rooms

    The welcome at the parking lot and guidance to the room were pleasant and precise. Noticing that I removed my cast when getting out of the car, they kindly brought a high chair, understanding that sitting on the floor in a Japanese-style room might be difficult for me. This was incredibly helpful as I had just undergone surgery. The private open-air bath in the guest room was already filled with water at an ideal temperature. There were plenty of drinks, including coffee to grind with a coffee mill, stocked in the refrigerator for free use. For clothing, there were three options: yukata, sleepwear, and loungewear. An overcoat was also provided. The room consisted of two spaces: a bedroom and a Japanese-style tatami area, making it comfortable and quiet enough to enjoy restful sleep until morning. When I found that the geta sandals provided for indoor use were slightly small and hard to walk in, I asked staff about it when we met in the lobby; they immediately replaced them on-site. Such thoughtful gestures from staff could be seen throughout our stay. The dining area is designed as private rooms where you rarely encounter other guests—perhaps this is why there’s even a 15-minute time difference between seatings. Meals featured dishes highlighting seasonal flavors from Hokkaido and Shizuoka served on beautiful plates that enhanced not only taste but also visual enjoyment. For dessert selection among six options allowed us to choose three kinds; they brought them generously arranged on an afternoon tea stand! Even though we felt full by then—we couldn’t resist trying more! Breakfast was also served privately with delicious main dishes alongside many side dishes—and freshly cooked rice from an iron pot tasted so good we ended up eating more than expected! From arrival until farewell upon checkout—it truly felt wonderful staying here; leaving made us feel grateful yet eager already planning another visit next season!     The meals are excellent.

    I stayed for one night. The dinner was absolutely delicious. Starting with the appetizer, I enjoyed kombu dashi poured over bonito flakes right in front of me, making it even more flavorful. I couldn't find any words other than "delicious." All the dishes that followed were equally amazing. Among all the Ryokans I've stayed at, this was my favorite. When the menu changes to the spring selection, I would love to visit again. Please let me enjoy your wonderful cuisine once more! Thank you in advance!

    Satisfaction guaranteed for all.

    The room, cuisine, and service level at "Bourou NOGUCHI Noboribetsu" by Noguchi Kanko in Hokkaido, where I stayed previously, were exceptionally high. As expected from another accommodation by Noguchi Kanko, this stay was equally outstanding. Being an auberge, the quality of the cuisine was excellent with carefully crafted dishes and top-notch presentation. The meals were absolutely delicious. The private open-air onsen in the room with natural hot spring water was wonderful and helped relieve travel fatigue. The dining service was particularly exceptional and made the experience even more enjoyable.
