The quality of the hot spring water was exceptional.
I tried visiting for a day-trip Onsen twice but it was too crowded both times, so this time I finally managed to secure a one-night stay. The bath in my Room was the best I’ve ever experienced at any Accommodation. My muscles weren’t in great shape, but they recovered significantly after just one night. It was still late summer, but the Onsen heat seemed very strong and the Room floor was pleasantly warm. The staff were so considerate that I almost felt bad for the trouble. In winter, this would be especially appreciated. The only disappointment was that there was just one vending machine for cold drinks after bathing, so I couldn’t get what I wanted, and there were no ice cream or other frozen treats for sale. Next time, I’d like to try a Multiple Night Stay and fully enjoy the sulfur-rich waters.

I think this is a well-balanced and good Accommodation.
The rolled omelet served at breakfast was exquisite.

The Onsen is amazing!
We stayed for two nights in a Room with an open-air bath. The weather wasn’t great, but we were able to enjoy the bath many times because of that. The food was also delicious. Thank you very much.

I was able to relax and rest well.
The property was quiet, and I was able to relax very comfortably. The Onsen was also a milky white sulfur spring, and it felt like it would be good for the body. It was a Hotel that made me want to visit again.

A Highly Satisfying One-Night, Two-Day Stay
We have stayed at this Hotel 3–4 times through IKYU. This time, we visited to celebrate our 51st wedding anniversary. The Hotel even prepared a celebratory cake for us. Though we are an elderly couple, we were truly touched. Thank you very much.

The Ultimate Winter Retreat
Because there was still snow in January, we were able to enjoy an open-air bath while viewing the snow. We were satisfied with everything: the welcome service, the kaiseki dinner, and the breakfast buffet. The Facility itself is enjoyable, but please note that nearby cafés and shops were closed during the winter season.

I was able to unwind and recover from a year’s worth of fatigue.
As we did last year, my spouse and I enjoyed the Onsen and delicious cuisine at the end of the year. Not only were all the staff wonderfully thoughtful, but we were able to refresh both mind and body in the milky-white Onsen that warmed us to the core. The open-air bath while watching the snow was amazing. The dinner course was seasoned perfectly for us. The breakfast buffet went so well with rice that we ended up eating far too much. This is an Accommodation that makes us want to return. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

The meals and the Onsen were great.
The Onsen has pleasantly cloudy water, and the scent lingers even after you return home. The meals were delicious, and the breakfast buffet was quite good as well. The service was polite and attentive.

An Accommodation You Won’t Want to Leave
We stayed for two nights over the three-day weekend in November. In Oku-Nikko, the temperature drops to around -1.2°C in the mornings and evenings, so it gets very cold, but inside the Accommodation there was underfloor heating in some areas and heaters placed throughout, so we were able to stay comfortable. The Room was also very warm... I brought Heattech and fluffy loungewear, and regretted it as soon as I walked in. Everyone at the front desk and on the housekeeping team greeted us with smiles and treated us courteously, which was truly relaxing. These days some Ryokan have international staff, but here everyone was Japanese, which also made us feel at ease. The Room was a Japanese-Western style room. In addition to a sofa, chairs, and a bed area, there was a spacious tatami free space of about 6 tatami mats—perfect for stretching or lying down. Above all, the baths were amazing. The sulfur scent throughout the Ryokan tells you how rich the water is. After bathing, my skin felt moisturized without needing lotion or cream. We would love to visit again next year. Oku-Nikko where this Hotel is located—and nearby Lake Chuzenji—doesn’t have many dining or leisure options, so trekking around Senjogahara or Lake Chuzenji is recommended. For those who go trekking, the Accommodation can prepare a paid lunch. Next year I’ll bring trekking shoes and come again. Thank you so much to all of the staff for your wonderful care. It will only get colder from here—please take care and keep up the great work.

We were soothed by the warm hospitality.
This was my first stay here, recommended by an acquaintance who lives in Tochigi. The staff welcomed me warmly, and I had a truly happy time. Overall, I was very satisfied. At check-in, we were served a welcome drink (hot tea) and zenzai, which felt refreshingly unique. Personally, I was especially happy about the zenzai. The Hotel itself is small with not many Rooms, so it never felt noisy. I could relax without really noticing other guests around me. The Room was also new and clean. For dinner, I chose a Plan that included Nikko beef teppanyaki, but the Nikko beef was a bit disappointing. It was quite fatty overall, and I felt even about two-thirds of the portion size would have been enough. The palm-sized piece of meat was cut into six pieces, but it wasn’t tender enough to bite through easily—so I thought smaller bite-sized pieces (about half that size) would be better. Also, both the large public bath and the Room gave me the impression that cleanliness around the sinks and wet areas could be improved a bit more. In the public bath area, some surfaces felt slippery; mineral buildup on the mirrors made it hard to see myself even after splashing hot water on them; and some faucets and drains looked darkened or stained. Since this is a sulfur hot spring, I wondered if corrosion might cause metal to darken—so there may be stains that are not easy to remove—but wet-area cleanliness strongly affects overall impressions, so I would appreciate more thorough cleaning and maintenance. Some of the hair dryers provided also had loose necks that made them unstable; others had weak airflow or only blew lukewarm air (while some did blow hot air when I tried another one). It would be great if they could be maintained or replaced as needed.

In search of a late-autumn hot spring.
I stayed here when visiting Nikko during the autumn foliage season and Mt. Nantai just before it closed for the season. Even in Yumoto, there was a faint scent of sulfur in the air, but as soon as you enter the Accommodation, you notice it right away. One unexpected touch was taking off your shoes at the entrance and going barefoot indoors. When I was shown to my Room, it truly felt like Oku-Nikko. In addition to air conditioning, there was also a kerosene heater, so it was warm—and I could even catch that nostalgic kerosene scent. The Room is compact but clean and comfortable. Combined with the kerosene smell, it somehow gave me a nostalgic feeling, like being back at my parents’ home. Dinner was a Japanese kaiseki course; it felt somewhat familiar in terms of menu composition. There were some local items, but considering the price, it seemed reasonable overall. Breakfast was buffet-style, and it wasn’t crowded, so I could enjoy it at a relaxed pace. The main purpose of this stay was the Onsen. Milky-white water with a sulfur aroma—this is THE Onsen experience. The temperature was just right, and I ended up soaking for quite a while. The morning after my stay brought snow: enjoying an open-air bath while admiring autumn leaves lightly dusted with snow from early morning onward felt especially atmospheric—an indulgent moment where you can truly sense nature and the changing seasons. A comfortable Accommodation with excellent hot springs not far from central Tokyo. I’ll be back again.

Walking barefoot ins...
Walking barefoot inside the accommodation was uncomfortable. Could slippers have been provided? My feet felt cold in areas without floor heating. It was also disappointing that the refrigerator in the guest room only had water. It would have been nice to have more drink options, even for a fee. Regarding the bath, the mirror at the shower station was covered with water stains and could not function as a mirror at all. Is proper cleaning being done? The faucet area of the sink in the dressing room had turned green, which made it feel far from clean and bothered me. Lastly, about the food: while the portion size was just right, I found it slightly lacking in content and noticed that most dishes were served cold for some reason. The staff's hospitality was excellent, which made these issues all the more disappointing. Thank you very much.

Simply the best!
This is my third stay this year. For me, this is the finest accommodation! I have visited various accommodations in different regions, but I truly love the atmosphere and ambiance of Mori no Hotel. Nestled deep in nature, with serene and crisp mountain air and pristine water. The staff's calm, kind yet discreet and elegant service. And the onsen! Enjoying the open-air bath while fully feeling the signs of autumn was delightful. The meals were all delicious—perhaps a bit less quantity would be perfect. The pear dessert was a unique and exquisite treat for me. All these elements blend together to create Mori no Hotel's refined, tranquil presence that feels detached from worldly concerns, providing me with true relaxation. Truly, this is my finest accommodation!

The natural hot spring water was exceptional.
The sulfur hot spring was truly relaxing. Since I visited on a weekday, the bath was not crowded, and I could unwind in the open-air bath, relieving my fatigue. I had reserved a single room with a note about boiler noise, which worried me, but I was guided to a spacious twin room and had a very comfortable stay. For dinner, I appreciated the thoughtful seating arrangement that allowed solo travelers to dine without concern for others. The meal was served at the perfect timing and was delicious. The Nikko beef could have been more flavorful, and I think improving the quality, even with smaller portions, would be ideal. Breakfast offered a variety of side dishes for rice, and the freshly cooked rolled omelet was delightful. After checking out, I enjoyed a hike from half a lap around Lake Yunoko to Yudaki Falls and down to Senjogahara. I didn’t encounter any bears and felt refreshed. I’d love to visit again during the season of crabapple blossoms or primulas. There were some areas where the facility's age and cleanliness were noticeable, which I hope will be improved, such as the stained sofas on the sacred tree terrace and the dirt and water clogging in the women’s restroom at the bathhouse. Overall, it was a satisfying accommodation.

Used after a long time.
We stayed at the accommodation after a long time, as my husband wanted to relax nearby. There were many new staff members, but the atmosphere inside the facility remained the same, giving me a sense of comfort like returning to my hometown. Having stayed at various accommodations, I always thought that the meals at Mori no Hotel were delicious. After a long time, I had their food again and it was just as delicious as I remembered. I would love to stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality.

A Hotel for Relaxation Amidst Abundant Nature
The Forest Hotel is a serene retreat nestled in the woods along Lake Yunoko in Oku-Nikko. Its location is truly unparalleled, making it an ideal summer getaway to escape the intense heat of the city. At dawn, birds chirp melodiously, and the lush greenery outside large glass windows soothes your eyes. Early mornings invite you to take a leisurely stroll around the lakeside, where breathtaking views from the bridge over the narrow stream flowing from the lake to Yudaki Falls leave an indelible impression. After returning from your lakeside walk, relax in our open-air bath and enjoy a delicious breakfast. Dinner features carefully selected ingredients for a delightful culinary experience. The staff provides attentive yet unobtrusive service, ensuring your comfort throughout your stay. It’s a rejuvenating haven for both body and soul.

A peaceful accommodation to escape from everyday life.
Excellent service and meals, very satisfying. The Room felt a bit old but was clean and very nice. The private open-air bath in the Room is among the top-ranked ones I've experienced so far. I would love to stay again if I have the chance.

An open-air bath you'll want to enjoy again and again
The open-air Onsen was spacious and comfortable, allowing for long soaks without feeling lightheaded. Towels were conveniently provided at the Onsen entrance, making it easy to enjoy multiple visits. The milky white natural hot spring water offered a relaxing experience. Remarkably, my knee pain that had persisted for months eased the day after hiking. Dinner featured a variety of small portions, which even my elderly mother could finish with ease. The breakfast included fluffy rolled omelets and an array of yuba dishes, leaving us very satisfied. The Facility was clean and well-equipped, ensuring a comfortable stay without inconvenience. Upon arrival in the rain, we appreciated being greeted with towels; however, as our socks were wet and we checked in barefoot on cold lounge flooring, we wished to be shown to our Room more quickly instead of going through lengthy explanations about the Facility. While it was reassuring that wet shoes would be dried with newspaper instead of using a hairdryer, they remained damp when returned at checkout due to insufficient drying time. This left us wearing cold shoes on departure—a disappointing end as we had assumed they were stored in a drying room given the snowy region. Although some staff members provided excellent service, overall energy among employees seemed lacking. Despite this minor disappointment, I look forward to revisiting that wonderful open-air Onsen someday—hopefully during warm and sunny weather next time. Thank you very much!

Onsen is excellent.
The quality of the Onsen was excellent. Dinner was delicious and carefully prepared. Breakfast, however, was a standard buffet and felt below its price value. The Room was clean, and we were guided to a Room with a calming view. The bath, Room, and scenery are outstanding at this Hotel. However, perhaps because it is a Hotel rather than a high-class Ryokan, the service felt less personal.

Nikko Sightseeing
I stayed at the accommodation during my visit to Nikko. First of all, the onsen was absolutely amazing. It must be packed with rich onsen minerals—both the aroma and the mineral deposits were incredible! There was also a sauna, which helped me relax a lot! The meals were like traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine, and I enjoyed every dish. The shabu-shabu with Nikko beef was especially delicious. I also spent time swaying in a hammock and taking naps... It was such a relaxing experience, and I left completely satisfied. Thank you very much!

Thank you for taking care of us during the heavy snow.
Thank you very much for your assistance during the heavy snowfall the other day. After checking out, due to our own mistake, we lost our means of transportation from the Hotel, but you allowed us to rest in the lobby until we could make arrangements and even served us coffee. We are grateful for your concern about our situation and for taking care of us for such a long time. Thank you very much; we were very satisfied with both the meals and the bath, and we will definitely return.

The private open-air bath in the room is wonderful!
Due to the severe cold wave, we arrived just before dinner amidst heavy snowfall. We felt relieved by the smiles and kindness of the staff and headed to our room first. The smell of sulfur, a milky white Onsen that could easily fit four people, and the snowy landscape falling quietly beyond. Both my spouse and I forgot our fatigue and were extremely excited. We quickly changed into our yukata and headed to the dining area. The welcome drink included a choice of draft beer, and the course meal featuring local ingredients was served at just the right pace. We also ordered a sake tasting set, and the portion was just right for us, who eat small amounts, but it might be a bit less for those who eat normally. The dining area wasn't the trendy private room style, but the seating was arranged with enough space between neighbors, so we weren't bothered by others around us. After dinner, we returned to our room, rested a bit, and then headed to the much-anticipated private open-air bath. It was a bit hot, so we diluted it with water, but it was truly a great bath. We've stayed in several rooms with private open-air baths, and this one ranks in the top two. The room was also well-designed, with a bedroom, a living room with a sofa and TV, a sunroom-style wooden floor with a relaxation chair (a massage chair would have been even better), a washroom, and a shower booth leading to the terrace open-air bath, making it a comfortable room to relax in. We used the private open-air bath twice at night and twice in the morning, and it was really hard to part with this bath. Additionally, lotion was provided for after the bath, and the cups were chilled in the refrigerator along with a pot of water, which was a nice touch. My husband went to the large bath in the morning, but he returned to the room's open-air bath because the outdoor bath was lukewarm and the sauna wasn't operating, despite the good setting. The breakfast buffet seemed to have a lot of variety, but when we put it on our plates, it didn't feel like there were that many options. However, there was a service where they handed out freshly cooked rolled omelets right in front of us, and the small sandwiches we nibbled on with coffee after finishing our Japanese-style meal were just the right size, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely meal. The Hotel seems to have been around for some years, but it is kept very clean, the hospitality is excellent, and we liked that it had underfloor heating instead of slippers. We would love to visit again to enjoy that private open-air bath. Thank you very much.

Just Right + (Plus) Stays
The standard of "just right" varies from person to person, but for me, it's "just right" when the price is not too high nor too low to cause concern, the Room's amenities are not too luxurious to make me nervous but are clean and "just right," and the amenities are not too many and "just right." The meal portions are not too large, and the menu consists of familiar creative dishes that are "just right." Furthermore, the journey by local bus from Nikko Station offers ever-changing views from the window, making it "very good," the proximity from the bus stop to the Hotel is "very good," the warm and delicious sweet red bean soup served at check-in is "very good," being able to use both samue and yukata is "very good," and the morning coffee available in the lobby is served with the cup pre-warmed, which is "very good." In conclusion, my impression was "just right + (plus)." The only slightly disappointing aspect was that the breakfast buffet was crowded and not very relaxing, but that's understandable during the busy season. Thank you for the warm hospitality. It has become my favorite Hotel!

I felt very healed.
Every New Year, it is a tradition for our family to stay at an onsen ryokan, and this year we stayed one night at the Okunikko Mori no Hotel, which we had wanted to visit for a long time. Although we have visited Okunikko Yumoto many times for day-trip onsens and walks around Yudaki and Yunoko, this was our first time staying overnight. The pure white Yunoko was beautiful as always. The hotel's onsen, service, and food were all excellent. It is a property we would like to visit again during the autumn foliage or summer season.

Open-air bath with a view of the snow, it's the best!
After finishing work at the end of the year, I visited on a whim to relieve my fatigue. My wife's wish was to take an open-air bath while watching the snow. Just as the year-end cold wave arrived, a lot of snow fell, and we were able to enjoy the ideal bath. The kaiseki dinner offered a variety of flavors, and I couldn't help but have a second serving of rice at the breakfast buffet. The next morning was clear, and the coffee while watching the dazzling morning sun reflecting off the snow elevated my mood beyond the ordinary. The staff's thoughtfulness was wonderful, and it was a property I would like to visit again.

Excellent!!!
The other day, we departed from Kawasaki, which was warm and had nice weather. When we arrived at Yumoto Onsen, it was completely white! Our new car, known for its speed, couldn't move forward (lol), so we backed into the public parking lot. The hotel staff and a passerby helped push us, and we were finally able to check in. Thank you very much. This place feels like a completely different world, away from the hustle and bustle. Perhaps because of that, all the staff exude a very calm and refined hospitality, comparable to the renowned hotels in the city, or perhaps even closer to the atmosphere of a classic hotel. The meals were delicate and delicious, and the Onsen made my skin smooth! I am seriously considering a long stay. I've stayed at various places, but this was truly top-level!! Thank you to everyone at the Hotel and for the connection through the IKYU site.

I was able to relax comfortably.
The first surprise upon arriving at the Stays was the comfort of walking around the entire Property in socks, as there were no slippers. In the natural wood lounge, the floor heating contributed to the warmth felt by both eyes and feet. We stayed in a Japanese-Western Room, which had a comfortable layout and large windows offering views of the trees, making it a relaxing space. The Room wear included both a yukata and a samue, allowing us to go to the dining area in an untangled yukata, which was a pleasant experience. There was an incident where the temperature adjustment of the women's open-air Onsen was not well managed, and it was almost like water when we entered! However, the staff seemed to have addressed it promptly, and the next morning it was warm and enjoyable, along with the indoor bath. The reason for giving the Facility a four-star rating is that the smell from the smoking room near the lobby occasionally leaked out (possibly because guests were entering and exiting), and when using the restaurant, the restroom was not immediately found, so we used the one near the large bath. It seemed that Onsen water was mixed with the tap water at the washbasin, which caused my jewelry to discolor instantly. Although it was my oversight, I thought it would have been nice to have a warning sign. Other than that, there were delightful services such as being able to have coffee in the lounge in the morning, and all the staff were polite and pleasant. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, and we had a wonderful time, leaving us very satisfied. Unfortunately, we missed the autumn leaves, but the yellow-colored larch trees were very beautiful. We took a walk along Lake Yunoko from the Stays, saw Yudaki Falls, and circled the lakeside, which took just over an hour, allowing us to fully enjoy the beautiful nature between breakfast and checkout. We definitely want to come again.

We visited as a family. The underfloor heating kept the interior warm and comfortable. The meals were plentiful, with beautiful dishes, each thoughtfully prepared and very delicious. The breakfast buffet was also tasty, and I ended up eating too much. The service of making omelets was excellent. We didn't encounter many people, so we could enjoy the bath at a leisurely pace. I would love to visit again.

It is a hotel where you can spend comfortably.
At this hotel, guests are required to take off their shoes at the entrance and walk inside with socks (or barefoot). Although I found it unusual, the corridors are covered with tatami mats, and the wooden floors are heated, so it never felt cold and was very comfortable. Additionally, the dinner featured creative dishes that I had never tasted at other restaurants, and it was very delicious. The disappointing aspect was that the temperature of the water in the women's open-air bath dropped too low, so my wife couldn't enjoy the open-air bath that night. The men's large bath also had a slightly low indoor temperature, making it cold while washing the body, so I hope that can be improved. However, I would like to stay again when visiting Oku-Nikko.
