    First Visit

    Thank you very much for allowing us to spend such a relaxing time the other day. We traveled to Hokkaido to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, and stayed here for our third night. Thanks to your many thoughtful gestures and warm hospitality, we had an absolutely wonderful time. We were truly surprised and delighted by the gift: you took photos of us and presented them with a message on a shikishi board. We have it displayed at home now. We also appreciated the complimentary champagne toast at dinner from the head chef, and the celebratory glutinous rice dish at breakfast. Everything was delicious—the kaiseki cuisine as well as the additional orders: crab, whelk, sweet shrimp, and uni sushi. It was a feast of wonderful flavors. The Onsen water had a silky texture, and I went to soak several times a day. Unfortunately it was cloudy when viewing from the open-air bath, but listening to the sound of the waves while soaking in water that left my skin so smooth was incredibly soothing. There were also four kinds of beer available after bathing, along with so many other complimentary services that I can’t list them all. Time flew by during our stay, and as we headed on to Hakodate next, we kept thinking that one night wasn’t enough. The tarako we had at breakfast was so delicious that we bought some to take home. It will be arriving soon by courier service, and I’m looking forward to enjoying it. Thank you very much.

    Hotel with an Ocean View

    The views are wonderful, and the bath water leaves your skin silky smooth—just amazing. There is also an all-you-can-drink option during certain hours with wine, alcohol, and craft beer, but it was disappointing that only paper cups were provided. I was looking forward to dinner, but it ended up being a letdown. I would prefer the dishes to be served individually for each guest, as it was hard to serve myself.

    We stayed here for a...

    We stayed here for a special anniversary. Luckily, we had great weather and could see a beautiful horizon from our Room. We enjoyed the lounge beer and other offerings, but we missed a few due to timing, so we’d be happy if the lounge hours could be a bit longer. We were also very pleased to feel your thoughtful attention to detail during meals and throughout our stay. There were some senior staff members as well, and everyone seemed energetic and genuinely happy—we found ourselves cheering you on. Thank you for explaining the dishes (haha). Poko, the resident dog, was calm and adorable. The two of us decided we’ll come back again for a relaxing visit. Thank you very much!

    This was my first time staying at Furukawa. Like other Furukawa locations, it really has that distinctive Furukawa feel. The ocean view from the lounge was beautiful, and it was great that we could step out onto the deck and enjoy a foot bath. There were many thoughtful services, such as soft drinks and wine tastings. It felt like a place where you could truly relax even for two or three nights. As for meals, dinner was a course meal, and breakfast was served as a set, with unlimited drinks, bread, cod roe, natto, nori seaweed, and miso soup. At dinner they explained each dish one by one, but there was also a double-sided menu sheet... The menu presentation felt a bit too pushy, so I couldn’t really take in all the explanations. lol At this Hotel, the open-air bath right in front of the sea was very satisfying. The baths were excellent. There were plenty of massage chairs as well. And the ReFa hair dryer made drying quick and easy.

    We are very satisfied.

    I always stay here with my pet. The meals were also very delicious. I love the honey tea in the lounge at night. The resident Pyrenean Mountain Dog is well-behaved and adorable.

    Highly satisfied!

    Even after a 32-hour flight, it was a place I’d gladly return to. My only regret is that I didn’t book a Multiple Night Stay. The Onsen water was incredibly soothing, and the views were outstanding. The seafood was truly exceptional—I felt it was the freshest I’ve ever had. There were many delightful services and small surprises throughout the property, including food and drinks, which made our stay especially enjoyable. I would love to stay here again.

    Wonderful

    I chose this place based on the Reviews, and it was just as wonderful as everyone said. The service is truly outstanding. I loved the tastings of craft beer, sake, and wine—it was exciting. The sherbet after the bath was also a lovely touch and made me feel so happy. When we arrived, there were Onsen manju and mochi as well, which immediately lifted my mood. There are so many complimentary services that I felt rushed trying to enjoy them all. The Onsen water is silky-smooth and amazing. The sea is right nearby, which really adds to the vacation feeling. The famous dog was a bit shy, but when it came time to take a photo, it stayed perfectly still and posed—truly a star. They also had ReFa hair dryers and shower heads, a great variety of bath towels, and even an iris bath that let us feel the season—I kept being impressed by everything. The staff were polite and kind, and I definitely want to come back again.

    I was able to relax for the first time in a while.

    I stayed here with a friend. We knew there was no TV, so we relaxed by watching the ocean and spending time in the lounge. My friend, who has stayed here many times, was a little disappointed with the sashimi selection this time. Still, we will stay again. Thank you very much.

    Stay with Your Dog

    We stayed with our dog. Right in front of us was the ocean, and dinner came with a spectacular view along with plenty of seasonal dishes and drinks. Everything was delicious—we were pleasantly surprised. We were able to see the sunrise at 4:50 a.m. The Room was spacious and relaxing. A very satisfying Hotel.

    Onsen

    The Onsen and the open-air bath were excellent. However, the air purifier in the room was dusty, and the C indicator light stayed on, which was disappointing. Perhaps because guests stay for long periods, there were some areas where cleaning did not seem thorough, which was also disappointing. The meals were not particularly impressive either. It was also disappointing that the lounge beer tasting was not available after 7:00 PM and was only offered from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

    Fully satisfied!

    Moon-viewing from the open-air bath was amazing! The in-room audio system was fantastic! The staff’s send-off moved us to the very end!!! We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and all the local specialties! The late-night snack and drinks pairings were just right! Smoked potato chips were incredible! We don’t really need a TV, but we did want to watch the news. We were able to spend a relaxing, unhurried time for the first time in a while! Five stars!

    Satisfied.

    The stay was satisfactory, but I feel the quality of the meals has declined compared to before. The Shiraoi beef was served as shabu-shabu with only one slice per person. If it is too expensive, perhaps consider using meat from other production areas.

    Is the staff insufficient?

    The bath and meals were as wonderful as ever. However, it was disappointing that staff were hard to find when needed, and their response was slow. Lounge seating (which is supposed to be self-service) was left unattended for a long time. Each staff member seemed to be working hard, but it felt like there might not be enough personnel to handle everything efficiently.

    Open-air bath, meals, and service - all highly satisfying.

    This trip to Hokkaido was all about staying at Furukawa. The open-air bath, meals, and service were all absolutely satisfying. Especially the view of the sea while lying down in the open-air bath was breathtaking. The water had a silky texture and was just the right temperature. The craft beer after bathing, as well as the morning tomato juice and orange juice service, were also very satisfying. The only downside was that the bed and bedding setup felt like that of a Business Hotel, which was a bit disappointing.

    I was able to relax both my mind and body.

    We stayed with two poodles and three adults. The room was spacious, quiet, and equipped with a good audio system, allowing the dogs to quickly settle in and enjoy a calm stay. The view from the outdoor bath was amazing, and since it wasn’t crowded, we could relax fully. The sashimi at dinner was delicious. All the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Although it was cloudy and we couldn’t see the starry sky or sunrise, it was still a wonderful accommodation that we would love to visit again. Thank you!

    I had a great night's sleep.

    A vast ocean stretches out before you, offering a serene and peaceful stay. If you request a morning call for sunrise, it will only be made if the weather allows for a clear view of the sunrise—otherwise, you can continue sleeping. You can enjoy the beautiful sunrise through large windows, and even from the bath. Next time, I’d love to watch it from the open-air bath. The meals are delicious and perfectly portioned, even for women with smaller appetites. This accommodation offers exceptional hospitality and was perfect for me as I wanted to enjoy the scenery and read in peace. There aren’t many tourist spots nearby, so this is highly recommended for those who want to relax or are looking for quiet accommodation.

    Accommodation with Stunning Views

    I stayed here 6 years ago and had a wonderful experience, so I decided to visit again after a long time. The breathtaking view of the vast ocean from the room and the large public bath is among the best I've seen in any accommodation I've stayed at. Without a TV in the room, I was able to relax and fully enjoy the scenery. The room was equipped with amenities like a massage chair, chargers, and complimentary drinks, providing every comfort imaginable. The variety of beverages and light snacks offered throughout the day added to my enjoyment during my stay. The onsen was at an ideal temperature with excellent water quality, so I soaked multiple times. At night, I enjoyed views of city lights or starlit skies; in the morning, watching seagulls flying around created truly soothing moments. The private baths were also well-maintained with fresh towels provided each time for comfortable use. Meals featured an abundance of Hokkaido ingredients; even items not listed on the menu like smoked delicacies or salted seafood were served—everything was absolutely satisfying! Breakfast portions were so generous that it was hard to finish everything offered. While there were some variations in staff service quality, overall they were friendly and engaging—I had enjoyable conversations with many of them during my stay. Although Hokkaido tends to have many foreign tour groups these days, Furukawa primarily caters to Japanese guests which made for a more peaceful atmosphere. One disappointment was during departure when staff seemed preoccupied assisting other guests; there wasn’t anyone available to help load luggage or offer farewell greetings as we left—it felt unfortunate not being able to exchange goodbyes properly due only having one staff member present at that moment.

    The bath is nice, but...

    The location and meals were good, but the service was disappointing. During the meal, staff did not come even when called, so I had to stand up and call them myself. There is a lack of communication between the restaurant and front desk. Notes for hotel staff were left in a place visible to guests. The way of speaking was unprofessional and did not meet the quality expected at a hotel level.

    It was a bit disappointing.

    As mentioned in many reviews, the food was meticulously prepared, visually appealing, and delicious. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches like smoked octopus and maitake tempura that were not on the menu. However, there are a few points we would like to mention: During our meal, other guests at nearby tables were so lively that it was difficult to hear our own conversation. If a group of men reserves with a certain number of people, perhaps seating arrangements could be more considerate. Another point is regarding the room slippers; I visited with my elderly but active parents, and they felt that the slippers were slippery inside when worn. The hospitality was very warm and welcoming; however, during heavy rain and wind, there was a moment when someone with limited mobility left at the same time as us. While umbrellas were provided for them, we felt it would have been better if they had been escorted to their car directly. The lower score reflects our expectations because we hope to visit again in the future!

    It was too different from the last time.

    During my previous stay, I had a wonderful experience, which is why I decided to visit again. However, I was shocked by the significant decline in the quality of the food. The staff, accommodation facilities, and onsen were excellent as always and maintained their high standards. However, regarding the food quality, it was truly disappointing. The flavors were not enjoyable, and even the ingredients seemed subpar. While I appreciate the effort put into preparing the meals, most of it was left uneaten. Even considering rising costs, shouldn't seasoning remain unaffected? Aside from the food issue, this is an excellent accommodation overall. However, it feels like a hotel that has lost its charm due to this unfortunate aspect.

    This is an excellent accommodation to stay at without considering cost performance.

    I stayed in early August, and the view of Kojohama right in front of the room was breathtaking. The accommodation offered entertainment features such as a footbath on the terrace and a fish sauce hut where you could sample products. Additionally, snacks and herbal teas were available, making an early check-in enjoyable. The meals were rich with local ingredients, providing a high level of satisfaction. The onsen allowed for ocean views while bathing, offering different scenery at night and in the morning—creating unforgettable memories. The moonlit sea at night was especially stunning and unforgettable. However, considering the facility's age and accessibility, the pricing felt slightly ambitious. While it's understandable that guest rooms are old, enhancing value by ensuring spotless shelves or similar improvements could make it an accommodation worth revisiting if prices cannot be adjusted.

    Hokkaido Trip

    A lounge overlooking the Pacific Ocean, craft beer or special juices enjoyed on the outdoor terrace, homemade smoked delicacies – everything was truly exceptional. Both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious. Above all, the open-air bath with a view of the Pacific Ocean was simply amazing. The heartfelt hospitality from all the staff deeply touched us and provided great relaxation for both body and mind. We will definitely visit again when we come to Hokkaido next time. Thank you to all the staff!

    The view is great, but...

    I stayed alone. The view was nice, but the food was not particularly impressive, which was disappointing. Additionally, a couple next to me seemed to be regulars and were talking loudly with the chef, which was quite bothersome. They were boasting about coming every year from afar just for the chef's dishes. There seem to be more travelers these days who lack consideration for others. I came alone hoping for a quiet and relaxing stay, but it was ruined. The Facility is also old and lacks a sense of cleanliness. The staff's service quality varies; some even failed to greet guests properly when leaving as the bus arrived during check-out time.

    An accommodation that is more modest than expected.

    Based on the concept of "forgetting the everyday," there are no TVs in the rooms, so after sunset when the sea view disappears, there isn't much to do in the Room. The lobby, while functional, lacks the luxurious resort feel and is more like a standard lobby. The overall atmosphere, including the building, feels older and gives off the vibe of a modest countryside Hotel. The meals are served in a restaurant with a Japanese ambiance, but aside from the sashimi, the courses are Western-style and lack a stylish presentation. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it fell short of expectations and left no lasting impression, especially considering the price, which felt a bit underwhelming. The bed, however, was extremely comfortable. This Hotel may not be suitable for those seeking a stylish resort experience.
