    Wonderful hospitality.

The hospitality was outstanding. From check-in to check-out, the staff were consistently attentive. Especially at checkout, they even wiped the car windows. It had rained the night before, so the windows may have been dirty, but this was the first time anyone has ever done that for me—I was truly impressed. Both the quality and quantity of the meals were very satisfying. Dinner featured a duck hot pot as the main dish, along with plenty of extras such as sashimi and Kasumi crab (benizuwai crab). Everything was delicious. If I had to mention anything, it would be that the Ryokan’s bath is small and it’s a bit away from the center of town. Personally, I enjoyed walking around while exploring and visiting different public baths, and they also said they could drive guests there upon request. As for the small bath at the Ryokan, I think it works well if you make use of the public baths too while still enjoying what’s available on-site. I would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much for everything.

This is an Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

Although it is a little away from the main Onsen district, this Accommodation had a quiet, secluded feel that made for a truly relaxing stay. The front entrance and exterior felt a bit plain, but once inside, the calm, refined lobby and lounge space opened up and immediately lifted my spirits. The view of the Japanese garden from the Room was wonderful, and dinner served in the Room was delicious—best of all, it was very generous in portion size. Both the roast beef and sashimi were cut thick as well. The beer, sake, and coffee service in the lounge was another welcome highlight. Above all, every staff member was polite and attentive while keeping a comfortable sense of distance, which I really appreciated. Since this stay was in summer, I would love to return again in a different season.

    Accommodation

This was my first stay at Tokiwa Bekkan. The hospitality and service were so attentive it almost felt like “isn’t this too much?”—I was truly grateful. I have tattoos, so I don’t often consider visiting Onsen areas, but Kinosaki Onsen (including Tokiwa Bekkan) is tattoo-friendly, so next time I’d like to stay at Tokiwa Bekkan again and enjoy visiting the public bathhouses. Thank you again.

We stayed here to celebrate my mother’s birthday, and thanks to the wonderful hospitality, it was truly a great trip! Everything was spotless, the bath was very relaxing, and everyone’s thoughtful care was exceptional—we would love to stay again. Thank you very much for such a wonderful experience.

    Recommended Kinosaki Onsen

I’ve visited Kinosaki Onsen many times during crab season and in the hot summer, but I also recommend coming at this time of year. The Ryokan we stayed at this time was outstanding—great food and service, and the charming atmosphere throughout the property was truly relaxing for both body and mind. I’d love to visit again if I have the chance.

Anyway, I was truly impressed by the warm smiles and kind, courteous manner of the room staff. The price was relatively affordable, and the room was clean—I was very satisfied.

Thank you for your warm hospitality.

Although it is far from the station, you can get there by the loop bus. It was drizzling a little, but they came out to welcome us, and we were able to enter very comfortably. The service might be the best in Kinosaki. We could have our meals in the Room and relax without worrying about others, but the taste was average. The clear soup had no flavor, so both my mother and I left it. The portions were sufficient. The most disappointing part was the futon and pillow. I was tired so I could sleep, but my neck felt stiff the next morning. If you ask whether I would like to come again, I'm not sure.

There is a lounge with unlimited alcoholic drinks.

It felt like staying at a classic Showa-era Ryokan. The lounge offering unlimited drinks, including beer and other alcoholic beverages, was a nice touch. Considering the accommodation cost, it offers great value for money. Since meals were served in the room and futons were used, an air purifier would have been appreciated. However, the young staff member was very polite in handling the futon setup and removal. The meals were not visually extravagant but tasted good overall. That said, some parts of the sukiyaki meat and the Tajima beef mini steak ordered as an option were slightly tough. Breakfast was simple without being luxurious but tasted fine as well. Unlike usual Onsen experiences where your body stays warm for a long time after bathing, this time it didn’t have that effect. Payment was requested to be made in the room; however, with card payments, they took my card away to process it elsewhere. It would feel more secure if they brought a card reader to process payments on-site or allowed payment at the front desk instead. The availability of chairs with legs for rent was very helpful!

A long-awaited trip to Kinosaki Onsen

I stayed at Tokiwa Bekkan with my daughter for a two-person trip after her wedding at the end of the year. When I called in advance, the hostess kindly informed me about the weather and confirmed that snow tires were necessary. We arrived a little early, but the Ryokan staff welcomed us right away. Since it was such a beautiful day, they recommended visiting the nearby ropeway, so we headed out immediately. The Ryokan is located slightly away from the bustling Onsen town but is close to a ropeway and one of six Sotoyu (public baths) called Kounoyu (originally there are seven, but one was closed). As we enjoy strolling, we walked to Yanagi-yu before dinner despite it being a bit farther away. The water was slightly hot, and we finished in about 30 minutes. Upon returning to the Ryokan, dinner was served promptly—a luxurious crab feast! My daughter even joked that she might turn into a crab by tomorrow because of how much crab there was! It featured tag-certified crabs that were incredibly delicious—the best we've ever had. The staff provided attentive service throughout our stay. After dinner, we visited another Sotoyu bath and then enjoyed an indoor bath back at the Ryokan before relaxing with drinks in their lounge—a truly indulgent experience. Our room was very clean and offered views of their garden through its window. We spent peaceful moments gazing outside and enjoying our time together. Spending such precious moments with my daughter at Tokiwa Bekkan has become an unforgettable memory for us both. I am so glad we chose this place for our trip. Next time, I hope to visit again with my entire family!

It was the best trip ever!

It is a bit away from the main area, but we were able to spend a quiet and relaxing time. The free alcohol in the lounge was a nice touch! Since meals were served in the Room, I could enjoy a leisurely conversation with my mother without worrying about others. The staff's hospitality was excellent.

    A charmingly analog accommodation

Thank you for your hospitality during the New Year. Since it wasn't my first time in Kinosaki, I didn't mind being a bit far from the public baths, but for first-time visitors, accommodations closer to the station might be more enjoyable. Although I arrived before check-in time, I was surprised by the warm welcome from many staff members upon arrival. Throughout my stay—when going out, returning, and even at check-out—I received attentive service from numerous staff members. Additionally, after returning from the public bath on a snowy day when my shoes were soaked through due to heavy snow since the previous day, they kindly dried them by check-out time. I truly appreciated this thoughtful gesture. The meals did not feature particularly luxurious ingredients aside from crab but were carefully prepared and beautifully crafted dishes. The servers appeared to be foreign staff who worked earnestly and left a positive impression on me. While Wi-Fi was available, it barely connected depending on the location. The room was thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained; combined with excellent customer service, it showcased impressive manpower. It felt like an authentic traditional ryokan in a good way!

Visit Kinosaki Onsen to Enjoy Crab

This time, the main purpose was crab. In the past, I stayed at guesthouses and Ryokans to enjoy crab, but since the baths were not Onsen, I felt a lack of satisfaction. So, I chose an Onsen Ryokan and made a reservation at Tokiwa. Since I kept the Accommodation Fee low, the satisfaction with the food was average. Upgrading would have been better, but it was difficult due to budget constraints. The service was excellent. From arrival to entering the Room and even during checkout, there were no delays as there were plenty of staff who responded promptly. The changing area in the bath was frequently inspected and cleaned. Meals were served in our Room by a friendly attendant who responded quickly and efficiently. It was great to enjoy crab at this Accommodation Fee; however, if your main purpose is crab, upgrading your meal plan might be worth considering. The lounge where you can have a drink after bathing is also nice. We stayed on December 5th this time, and what surprised us most was the view of the garden from our Room. Normally around this time every year it would be earlier for autumn leaves; however, we enjoyed beautiful foliage this year instead! The garden's maintenance was impeccable which allowed us to fully appreciate autumn leaf viewing!

    No repeat visits, perhaps.

Negative Points: - Too far from the public bath. - Cannot go outside in the cold even with a down jacket. - The birthday plate costs 300 yen but is too plain, just a small decoration. - Upgraded the meal, but it was too much to eat even half of it. Would have preferred upgrading the Room for the same price—regretful and felt like a loss. - The open-air bath was too lukewarm. Positive Points: - Lounge. - Hospitality. - Garden (though not accessible).

    We had a wonderful time.

We arrived in the morning, and they kindly stored our car and luggage, allowing us to enjoy activities like taking the ropeway and exploring the town before check-in time. After checking in, we were attended by a dedicated staff member throughout our stay, letting us experience the traditional atmosphere of a Ryokan. After dinner, there was a shuttle service provided by the Ryokan's car to the town center, where we enjoyed visiting public baths. The room was a Japanese-style room with an oil heater, offering a quiet and comfortable space for rest at night. Thanks to this wonderful experience, we had an enjoyable trip.

    It was a great accommodation.

The check-in and check-out process, as well as breakfast and dinner, being completed in the Room was very convenient. While the building itself felt slightly old and I was concerned about the cold, there was a De'Longhi heater in the Room and lap blankets available in the café space, making it comfortable. The view of the courtyard from the Room was fantastic. The carefully prepared meals were also very delicious.

It was an accommodation that warmed both the heart and body.

We stayed for a multiple night stay with my wife. From the warm welcome to the farewell, all the staff treated us kindly. The indoor bath was not very large but well-maintained, and since the number of guests was limited, we could enjoy it almost privately and truly relax. The meals were completely different for dinner and breakfast, and both quality and quantity were more than satisfying (though the portions might have been a bit too much for us older folks). There was also a shuttle service to the outdoor baths, allowing us to complete visits to all six baths. Although it is slightly away from the town center, we found it perfect for spending time quietly without any inconvenience. If our sons ever plan a family trip to Kinosaki, I would definitely recommend Tokiwa Annex.

All rooms offer a view of the Japanese garden, and with a limited number of rooms, it is an accommodation where you can enjoy a quiet stay. As we knew in advance that our arrival time would be later than originally planned, we informed them of the change beforehand. Despite the rain, they kindly waited for us outside upon our arrival, and we felt their warm hospitality. It is an accommodation we would love to visit again.

    A hospitality-focused accommodation.

On October 9th, arrived by car around 3 PM at the entrance. Greeted by about three staff members. Unloaded luggage and handed over the car. Check-in and check-out were conducted in the room with the assigned staff. Stayed in a Japanese-style room on the first floor facing the courtyard. The courtyard was well-maintained, with fragrant orange osmanthus in full bloom, creating a traditional Japanese atmosphere. Unfortunately, the room's TV was too small and hard to watch. Did not visit the public Onsen outside but was fully satisfied with the Ryokan's large communal bath. The bath was conveniently close to the room. The indoor bath was not very spacious but sufficient, while the outdoor bath was small. The large bath was also conveniently located near the lobby and lounge. Enjoyed complimentary beer and coffee in the lounge while waiting. Meals were served in the room, reminiscent of the experience at Haiya in Awara Onsen. Dinner was a kaiseki course, with excellent quality, quantity, service, and explanations. Breakfast was also satisfying. The smoking room was only spacious enough for two people, which felt a bit cramped. Upon departure, many staff members came to see us off. This is truly an accommodation that offers hospitality at every moment.

I had a quiet and peaceful stay.

The building is indeed old, but it is meticulously maintained, giving it a charming and tasteful atmosphere (especially the room windows). Additionally, meals are served in the room. The quality and quantity of the food were perfectly balanced, leaving a positive impression. It’s a short walk from the Onsen town, but that makes it quieter. The indoor bath is slightly small but peaceful, clean, and relaxing. This was especially appreciated since the outdoor bath was very crowded.

    Excellent!

Excellent! This is the perfect word to describe it. If you work in the hospitality industry, you should visit at least once. Just one point: A foreign staff member served us, and while they were clearly doing their best, the explanation of the dishes was somewhat lacking. It's a minor issue, but as I was looking forward to enjoying the food, it was a bit disappointing.

    Relaxing Accommodation

Located a bit away from Kinosaki Onsen town, shuttle service was provided for visiting the public Onsen. The building had an aged feel but was clean and full of charm. The bath was small, but since there seemed to be few users (many rooms have private open-air baths), I could enjoy a relaxing soak without others around.

    Had a relaxing time!

I stayed here in my 20s based on a travel agent's recommendation and had such a great experience that I decided to stay again with my daughter. The calm atmosphere and excellent service from the accommodation staff allowed us to relax completely. While we also visited the public baths, I highly recommend the ryokan's own bath as well. The meals were plentiful and absolutely satisfying!

It was my first solo trip to Kinosaki, and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. The beautiful Japanese garden, visible through the historic and charming window frames, was stunning. The food was absolutely delicious and exceeded my expectations. The crab season must be even more amazing! I hope to visit again someday.

The building is old but has a charming atmosphere, allowing for a relaxing stay. The staff were very kind and made the experience comfortable. However, regarding the water provided in the Room's refrigerator, considering current times, bottled water might be more suitable than a pitcher.

    Japanese Hospitality

Even though I made the reservation the day before, dinner was prepared for me. It was duck hot pot, and the portion was incredible, accompanied by sashimi and roast beef. It was delightful to enjoy a meal in my own tatami room after a long time, and the cheerful gestures of the staff were wonderful. They also assisted with parking my car and all the staff saw me off. I fully enjoyed the traditional hospitality of a Ryokan.

    60th Birthday Celebration

We visited to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. Our reservation was for a 3:00 PM check-in and an 6:00 PM dinner, but we got significantly delayed after taking a wrong turn on the way. The staff kindly called us and reassured us to drive safely, which put us at ease. We arrived just in time for the 6:00 PM dinner, and despite our delay, we were warmly welcomed without any unpleasant expressions from the staff. The attendant who assisted us appeared to be from overseas but was very professional and pleasant, making our experience even more enjoyable. The dinner was delicious, and my mother was delighted with her special celebration meal. Having dinner served in our room allowed us to relax as a family in private, creating a special atmosphere that we truly appreciated. Our room had the comforting scent of tatami mats and was spacious with a beautiful view of the garden through the window. At the lounge, another staff member impressed us by remembering both our room number and faces when assisting us promptly during an issue—it left such a positive impression! Although we didn’t have time to explore other baths outside of the Ryokan, we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in its Onsen facilities instead. The selection of colorful yukata with beautiful patterns added charm; wearing them while strolling through Kinosaki’s streets would surely be delightful. We hope to visit again when returning to Kinosaki!
