    Memorable Cuisine

After six years of longing to return for the delicious cuisine, I finally had the chance to revisit. I was delighted to find that the memorable stone-grilled squid and sesame soup from six years ago were still being served. The breakfast portions might feel generous for some, but every dish is carefully prepared with selected ingredients, reflecting a commitment to quality without compromise. The staff were warm and welcoming, making my brief stay after work a truly pleasant experience. Thank you for a wonderful time!

    This time, I decided...

This time, I decided to visit a wonderful accommodation for relaxation as I unexpectedly got some time off. However, being a popular accommodation, I could only stay for one night. Nevertheless, I was delighted by the exquisite seasonal cuisine and felt truly comforted by the attentive hospitality of the staff. When feeling tired, I believe visiting this accommodation is the best remedy.

It was a very wonderful Room.

Every year, we enjoy a Multiple Night Stay at your Accommodation. This time, we stayed in the suite room "Zensou" for the first time. It was very functional and comfortable in every aspect, for which we are truly grateful. The panoramic view allowed us to enjoy the Naruto Bridge from the best position. The two luxurious baths were also a delightful experience. With its high level of hospitality and satisfaction, this Accommodation is highly recommended to anyone. We look forward to staying with you again in the future.

    The pride of Tokushima.

Delight in the flavors, beauty, and joy shared with our guests—a true essence of Awa cuisine. The Ridge wine and local sake were exceptional, creating a moment of pure bliss. At Banri-so, only accommodation guests can experience this exclusive feast. The heartfelt smiles of the staff brought comfort, leaving me deeply impressed by the philosophy behind this wonderful place. Thank you so much!

    Prime Location

We stayed here for the first time as a family. The room was spacious, clean, and offered a stunning view of the Naruto Bridge. The amenities were excellent, including a Bulgari set with shampoo, conditioner, body cream, soap, and perfume in a pouch for women to take home—my daughter was thrilled! The onsen in the room featured both an indoor bath and a semi-open-air bath with a jacuzzi. Both baths were available 24 hours, allowing us to relax while enjoying the breathtaking views from the onsen. The semi-open-air bath had screens installed to keep out insects, which made it even more comfortable! Meals were traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine made with plenty of local ingredients; every dish was delicious and left us completely satisfied. A raccoon dog even visited our terrace at night—it was quite amusing! Both my son and daughter were very happy with our stay. This is definitely an accommodation we’d love to visit again. Thank you so much!

    Cleanliness and Hospitality

The hospitality is nearly perfect. The room is clean and well-maintained. The private bath has a chic design unlike anything I've seen before. The shower room includes a rain shower and is well-arranged. Although I am accustomed to luxury hotels and ryokans, I must say this bath is exceptional. You can sense the designer's excellent taste. Points that could be improved: 1. No turndown service 2. Insufficient number of bath towels 3. It would be nice to have two soaps—one for the sink and one for the bath 4. The intercom is small and difficult to use This was my first stay for the Awa Odori festival, but I would love to visit again!

You can also enjoy Western cuisine.

During our previous visit to Tokushima for a grave visit, we stayed at this accommodation and enjoyed a combination of Western and Japanese cuisine, which left us very satisfied. This time, we decided to try Western cuisine with Japanese-style accommodation after another grave visit. The Western cuisine was just as excellent as the Japanese one. As the title suggests, it’s a delightful dilemma! We might alternate between the two from now on. Another highlight of this stay was being able to see the Milky Way clearly due to good weather. Alongside it, we spotted Cygnus spreading its wings and even saw all stars of the Big Dipper shining brightly in their ladle formation. In town, light pollution limits stargazing opportunities, so being able to admire such twinkling stars was truly delightful. Although my partner had a minor fall at the breakfast area, thankfully there were no serious injuries. We deeply appreciate the staff's concern and assistance during that time. Reflecting on it now, having sturdy handrails in such areas would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to staying here again in the future—thank you for your hospitality! (Unfortunately, I couldn’t capture photos of those beautiful night skies despite trying; my apologies.)

    Thank you to our staff.

This stay was our first since March, planned to celebrate my sister's birthday. We were warmly welcomed by the usual staff and celebrated with a welcome champagne. Dinner was a full-course meal at the familiar California Table. We are especially grateful for the surprise during dessert. Having stayed here more than ten times, this time we skipped breakfast for the first time and instead enjoyed another full-course lunch at California Table, which was absolutely satisfying. The chef's wonderful lunch delighted both my sister and her husband as well. We truly appreciate the staff's thoughtful care and smiles, always asking us, "When will you visit next?" Thank you so much!

    This is a wonderful accommodation.

We visited Naruto City for our 40th wedding anniversary, a place we had long wanted to see. Our Room was perched on a mountain in the forest, offering a wonderful view of the Onaruto Bridge and the sea. The shared bath was a clean, easy-to-use spa with free-flowing Onsen water. When I went in, no one else was there, so I could soak and relax on my own. Our Room also had a cypress bath and a jacuzzi, so we could warm up even early in the morning or late at night and truly unwind. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the kaiseki restaurant, where we were served an outstanding selection of delicious dishes made with fresh local ingredients. Thanks to the attentive service and thoughtful care from both the Hotel staff and the kaiseki restaurant team, it became an unforgettable trip. There were still more places we wanted to visit but ran out of time; when we return, we would definitely like to stay at this Hotel again. Thank you very much.

    Living in Tokushima,...

Living in Tokushima, I never realized such a luxurious and thoughtful space was so close by—it truly felt like a hidden gem. I chose this Hotel to celebrate a birthday with delicious food. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a complimentary welcome drink, setting the tone for an elegant experience. The coffee in the Room was freshly ground by hand and tasted so good that I found myself having multiple cups. The amenities in the Room were neatly arranged and well-stocked, making our stay even more enjoyable. The Room also featured wooden accessories like phone stand speakers and small scissors that could be purchased as souvenirs at the front desk. I particularly loved the tiny scissors (as I'm somewhat of a scissor enthusiast) and decided to buy one as a keepsake. Although it drizzled during our stay, it added to the charm of the atmosphere—rainy days can be quite beautiful too. The view from our window stretched far into the distance without being overly bright or glaring, making cloudy or rainy weather surprisingly pleasant. Before dinner, we took a stroll along nearby walking paths where azaleas were blooming beautifully this season. There were also rows of grand cherry blossom trees that must look stunning when they bloom pink in spring. Dinner was an extraordinary experience that delighted all five senses—visually stunning with incredible aromas, flavors, textures, and perfect balance from every angle. We paired Japanese sake with our meal upon recommendation but couldn't resist trying Ridge wine at the end despite not usually drinking wine—it was refreshingly crisp and delightful! Time flew by as we enjoyed ourselves; before we knew it, two hours had passed—a rare treat for such leisurely dining. I’m already looking forward to visiting again in autumn! While I debated taking photos during my stay to capture these moments forever—I ultimately decided against using my phone much because I wanted to disconnect from daily life completely—but now slightly regret not photographing those beautiful dishes! Thankfully though one staff member kindly offered assistance capturing some memories during dinner which meant so much given how nervous social interactions make me sometimes feel! The staff at Ridge Hotel exceeded expectations—they struck just right balance between providing detailed explanations about meals while maintaining relaxed natural conversations ensuring no disruption occurred within serene dining ambiance created overall leaving us feeling fully immersed throughout entire evening spent there! Thank you very much for such unforgettable hospitality!

    The Luxury of Doing Nothing

I have been using this accommodation for nearly 10 years. During that time, the Japanese-style building was renamed "Banrian," a plan allowing access to an adjacent Western-style restaurant was introduced, a heliport was built, and the rooms were renovated. However, the greatest charm—"the luxury of doing nothing"—remains unchanged. The tranquility of being within a national park fills every corner of the facility, and mornings are accompanied by birdsong. Given its scale and price range, it is rare to encounter other guests during your stay. Of course, the cuisine and wine that inspired the hotel's name are exceptional as well. The Japanese meals feature abundant local seafood and vegetables sourced from this area since its initial development as a resort by Nankai Electric Railway. These ingredients would typically be sent to Tsukiji Market but are instead brought here directly. When ownership transferred from Nankai to Otsuka Group, the hotel was renamed after Otsuka's CA winery and wine brand. The wine I had this time was among the best in recent years. As I’ve grown older, I find heavier wines harder to enjoy and often stick with Pinot Noir; however, Ridge’s wine combines all elements necessary for high-quality wine while remaining gentle on both body and wallet—a perfect match for Japanese cuisine. Highly recommended for those who struggle to carve out even one minute of peace in their daily lives!

    Breathtaking views, truly breathtaking!

A two-person trip with a friend. We stayed for 2 nights in a Wakana Room. The view from the room was perfect, and above all, we were deeply impressed by the hospitality of the staff. We visited the Otsuka Museum of Art over two days, and with the shuttle service provided by the hotel, it was truly door-to-door convenience. The meals were thoughtfully prepared to ensure variety, allowing us to fully enjoy them without getting bored. Absolutely! This is a hotel we will definitely revisit.

    Wonderful!

The hospitality was exceptional! From check-in to check-out, every service exceeded expectations. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The view was stunning, allowing us to relax while admiring Awaji Island and the Naruto Bridge. The amenities were also well-prepared. While the private bath in the room was pleasant, the Onsen in the large public bath provided ultimate relaxation and an amazing experience. The meals were outstanding! We were transported to an on-site restaurant in a luxurious shuttle service, which elevated our mood even further. The dishes made with local ingredients and excellent service left us completely satisfied. We would love to visit again!

    Great value for the price.

I made a Reservation for a Hotel where I could feel the atmosphere of Setouchi. To be honest, given the location in Tokushima (no offense!), I didn't have high expectations for the meals. However, the chef skillfully prepared fresh local ingredients, and every course from start to finish was delightful, fully showcasing the charm of Tokushima's produce. The dining experience alone is worth traveling from afar. Of course, the Hotel's location was also wonderful, with morning bird songs and views of lush green islands in the distance. Thank you for providing such an enjoyable travel experience!

    The Best Memories

I gave this as a gift to my parents. They said the service, food, and facility were all excellent and outstanding. I forgot to mention that my father avoids eating seaweed, but the staff noticed and accommodated him, which deeply moved my parents. They said it became an unforgettable memory for them.

A gourmet accommodation representing not just Tokushima but all of Shikoku.

Stayed on Friday, February 7, 2025. The meals and the view from the accommodation were outstanding. The dining experience was unique, with a shuttle service provided by car from the front desk to Banri-so (a traditional restaurant), which added a special touch. The dishes, centered around local ingredients, were excellent, and the clam miso soup served at breakfast was particularly exceptional in both quality and quantity. Additionally, the explanation of the dishes by an experienced male staff member was remarkable. The view from the room was also stunning; in the morning, I could see whirlpools in the distance. However, as it was February and quite chilly outside, I couldn't stay long but would love to visit again during another season. The onsen was located on the second floor of a specialized facility. While it felt ordinary overall, having it almost entirely to myself made for a pleasant experience. Lastly, amenities were provided by Bulgari with an invitation to take them home as souvenirs of my trip—so I did!

    We stayed at Hotel R...

We stayed at Hotel Ridge from March 10th to 12th for two nights in the Wakana Room. The room's environment, facilities, and amenities were all excellent. We enjoyed two breakfasts and two dinners, all of which were outstanding in terms of quality, quantity, and presentation. We would especially like to express our gratitude to Mr. Hironori Wakahara, the Front & Dining Manager who served us during meals. His friendly demeanor and exceptional service left a lasting impression on us. Additionally, we had lunch at the hotel's Western restaurant "California Table," where both the service and food quality were excellent. The public onsen is small but offers high-quality water. If there is one point of criticism, it would be that despite having a spacious bathroom, there was no basket or container for used towels, which was slightly inconvenient. It would be helpful if the hotel provided a laundry basket. Also worth noting is that while the bathtub in our room used regular tap water rather than natural onsen water; having an authentic onsen bath in-room would make this hotel perfect. Overall, our stay at Hotel Ridge was highly enjoyable. Having stayed at over 60 ryokans across Japan nationwide as a couple, Hotel Ridge undoubtedly ranks among our best experiences!

    Exceptional cleanliness and hospitality.

The staff lived up to their reputation for being kind and attentive, making our stay relaxing and comfortable. The spa had excellent water quality at a pleasantly warm temperature. Although slightly small, it operates on a rotation system, and with fewer guest rooms, we could enjoy it almost privately. Both the bathroom and changing room were impeccably clean. We chose the basic Japanese-style meal Plan for dinner. The seafood dishes like sashimi were fresh and thoughtfully prepared; however, we found the seasoning of some simmered dishes a bit strong for our taste. The meat dish—a single slice of filet katsu sandwich—was delicious but left us wanting more. On the other hand, breakfast was so lavish that it felt like another dinner course! It took us an hour and a half to finish everything with delight. The only disappointment was the signature large clam miso soup; while abundant in clams, they were small in size and lacked flavor depth.

    Enjoy Solo Time

I wanted to relax alone, so I took a different route this time. I traveled by Shinkansen to Shin-Kobe, then took a highway bus from Shin-Kobe to Kosoku-Naruto. Although it took longer than flying, I enjoyed the scenery and felt like I was on a journey. I requested Shuttle Service and checked into a Western-style Room with high ceilings and a spacious terrace. The welcome drink was homemade plum wine soda prepared by the head chef. While gazing at the rainy Onaruto Bridge, I felt completely relaxed. The room amenities included POLA products with cleansing items for one night’s stay, as well as both standard shampoo and Bvlgari options. The Dyson hairdryer with strong airflow was much appreciated. The refrigerator was stocked with beer, water, Pocari Sweat, etc., while green tea and black tea came in six varieties each; coffee could be enjoyed either freshly ground or via drip packs—everything you need is provided without inconvenience. The large communal bath also had cleansing products and amenities available; the body soap made from local Tokushima yuzu was particularly delightful and convenient for simplifying travel preparations—a big plus! Meals were served in Banri-soh, an exquisite traditional Japanese house accessible via Shuttle Service by car—a short ride that allowed enjoyable conversations with staff members along the way. The main reason for visiting this Accommodation is experiencing seasonal beauty through its cuisine paired perfectly with tableware—delicious dishes that bring joy from the heart! Both dinner and breakfast offered artistic presentations so flavorful that even when full, you couldn’t resist eating more! Overlooking Onaruto Bridge while savoring exceptional meals crafted by top chefs combined with warm yet professional hospitality makes this Accommodation truly special. It’s incredibly comfortable here—a place where solo travelers can fully enjoy their stay to the fullest extent possible!

    Unparalleled

I have visited several times, and each time I am able to experience the seasons through sight, taste, and aroma. The delicious meals that make me involuntarily voice my delight are undoubtedly a result of the chef's exceptional creativity. The staff provide impeccable service with just the right balance of attentiveness and discretion. This accommodation offers a one-of-a-kind view of the Naruto Bridge, paired with a beautifully designed traditional Japanese dining space—truly rare to find. Despite having such outstanding facilities, the warmth and friendliness of the staff shine through in their hospitality without compromising professionalism, creating an incredibly comfortable atmosphere. With such exquisite meals, relaxing ambiance, and peace of mind during every visit, this is truly an unparalleled accommodation. Whenever I have disappointing experiences elsewhere, I always think back to this place as my top recommendation!

    Excellent

I have always wanted to visit, and this time my wish came true. The service, cuisine, rooms, and amenities were all high-level at this wonderful property. The hotel is located within a national park on a hill with an ocean view. You can see the Naruto Strait and Awaji Island, as well as the sunrise. The Great Naruto Bridge illuminated by the dawn was very beautiful. The room was stylish, and the sofa was comfortable to sit on. Gazing at the sea from the deck brought peace to my heart. At night, the stars were incredibly beautiful too. The scenery visible through the window inside felt like a landscape painting and was very pleasant. The cuisine allowed us to feel the seasons; it was delicious with elegant tableware that made early spring spread in our mouths naturally bringing smiles to our faces. Breakfast had many dishes available which were all tasty. We also enjoyed shabu-shabu of Naruto's spring wakame which filled us up. Shuttle service to dining venues used luxury cars providing utmost comfort. Though compactly built Onsen SPA building maintained cleanliness allowing for comfortable stay experience. Staff provided attentive care actively engaging sharing local recommendations or pairing drinks enhancing delightful stay experience overall making it recommendable across ages regardless gender demographics alike! I plan on saving money again so I can return someday soon! Thank you very much!

The cuisine was out of this world!

This time, I stayed at Hotel Ridge with a plan featuring the chef's special "Exquisite Japanese Kaiseki" in connection with the Otsuka Museum of Art. The meal we had at Banri-so (Ryotei) was extraordinary for a Ryokan dining experience. The breakfast, in particular, was amazing. Even the pickles were delicious. Thank you very much. I didn't have enough time at the museum either, so I definitely want to visit again.

A Property overflowing with hospitality, offering the best in everything.

I visited before and loved it so much that I decided to return as a treat before giving birth. As expected, everything about the Room, meals, scenery, bath, and hospitality was exceptional! The Room was simple yet sophisticated and very comfortable, and above all, it was wonderful to relax while gazing at the Naruto Strait. The meals we had at Banri-so, both dinner and breakfast, were absolutely fantastic. This time, however, we encountered an unexpected issue when our rental car got a flat tire as we were about to head home. Having never experienced such a situation before, we were flustered about how to handle it. The Hotel staff arranged for a tow truck and tire replacement, allowing us to return home safely. Their quick response and thoughtfulness were truly remarkable, and we are deeply grateful to the Hotel staff. Despite the trouble, it turned into a wonderful memory. Once things settle down with parenting, I would love to visit again.

It was a supreme Hotel stay experience.

I used the service after reading very good reviews to celebrate my partner's birthday. In line with the birthday celebration, they arranged a special vehicle for the shuttle service to the airport and accommodated our requests to create a surprise, providing very attentive service. The cuisine we were looking forward to exceeded our expectations, with not only the depth and taste of Japanese cuisine but also creative presentations and arrangements, which made her very happy. I believe the decision to unify the experience with Japanese cuisine and a Japanese-style room, after consulting in advance, was successful. Since they select ingredients according to the season, I would like to use the service again if the opportunity arises. The reason I rated the hospitality and service as 4 is that I personally felt there was room for improvement in the check-in and check-out process, but I don't think it's a major issue.

Thank you for the wonderful time.

The annual year-end trip. The destination was decided to be Tokushima Prefecture, and I stayed at a property I had been curious about for some time. With the courteous response from the front desk, I moved to a lovely room. A luxurious time to relax while watching the Naruto Bridge. The meal, of course, and the pairing with the wine I was looking forward to, along with skillful conversation, warmed my heart. It was truly a wonderful stay that healed my busy days, and I thought I would like to visit again.

As always, this is an impressive Hotel.

In June and December, you will be impressed by the unchanging comfort and will want to come back to "Hotel Ridge." This time, it was a room with Japanese decor. From the room's bathroom, you can see the Seto Sea, and it was a pleasant moment. The meals, cleanliness, well-maintained plants, and customer service... I am always impressed, and I will visit again. Best regards to all the staff.
