We had a wonderful time on our family trip.

My wife, our first-grade daughter, and I stayed for 3 nights and 4 days during the New Year holidays. Overall, we had a satisfying four-day stay. The staff were pleasant and made us feel relaxed throughout our time there. However, it did feel like there were slightly too few staff members. There were lines at check-in, and it didn’t feel like a place where you could casually ask for sightseeing advice. The meals weren’t particularly unique, but the seafood was truly delicious. There were also after-meal sweets and soft-serve ice cream, which was great for our child. That said, the restaurant aisles felt a bit narrow. When it got crowded, it felt quite congested. The Facility feels dated, but we had no major complaints. Our Room was spacious, and since the building isn’t high-rise, elevator wait times were short, which was nice. There were always two lifeguards on duty so we could enjoy the pool safely, but because the changing rooms for the Onsen and the pool are separate (and not connected), it was a bit of a hassle to change clothes once after swimming before going into the Onsen. Also, towel replacements such as bath towels in the Room weren’t provided unless we requested them, so it would have been better if we could use them with a bit more flexibility.

    Do not expect meals.

This was our fourth stay as a three-generation family. The Room and pool felt truly resort-like, and we were able to relax. Our second-grade grandchild really enjoyed the pool. However, the dining seems to be getting worse each time. Because our group was large, we were seated right next to the buffet food, with people constantly passing by throughout the meal, making it feel crowded and chaotic. Every time, we end up in the very middle of it all, surrounded by dust, and we can hardly have a conversation during dinner. The lighting is also dim (it feels like temporary add-on lighting). A major disappointment.

Accommodation Under a Sky Full of Stars

We stayed in a cottage with our pet. The coastline view from this Hotel was stunning, and the cottage was surrounded by nature—an ideal setting for our dog. The breakfast and dinner buffets offered a great variety, and we thoroughly enjoyed fresh seafood. Although the main building is a bit of a walk from the cottage, strolling under a sky full of stars (it felt like the Milky Way) made it truly special.

I stayed here during my summer vacation.

We stayed here after our annual summer beach trip. It was our first stay in about 20 years. The Facility is old, but it has been well maintained. Having a heated pool and an observatory is especially valuable. The food was delicious. The Onsen was also great. Best of all, the staff were very kind and helpful. I think it’s perfect for families with children. Thank you very much.

    Summer Resort

We used the round-trip shuttle bus from Kashikojima. Everyone at the front desk and in the dining area was kind, which made our stay very pleasant. There was a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. In the playroom, we could enjoy board games and table tennis, so our grandchildren didn’t get bored while waiting for the return bus. Both the building and the Facility felt a bit old, but it gave us the impression that everything was thoroughly cleaned. The nearby sea at Jirokuro Coast is famous for its beautiful waters. Next time, I’d like to invite friends and enjoy a relaxing resort trip here. There were many clouds, so we couldn’t see the stars or moon clearly during nighttime stargazing. I’ll look forward to that next time as well.

Perfect for a summer vacation with kids

Spend the day enjoying the pool or the beach, then at night look through Tenmonkan’s large telescope, and unwind in the Onsen—there’s plenty to enjoy. The meals were excellent, with very fresh ingredients and great flavor, and the desserts were also plentiful, including fruit, ice cream, cake, and Japanese sweets.

    Very good

Although it’s a cottage, you can also enjoy dining, bathing, and the pool at the Hotel, and we felt it offered great value. From the cottage, we could hear birds and insects and really feel surrounded by nature. After a short walk, Ago Bay opened up before us, with the scent of the shore in the air—it truly felt like being by the sea as well. In the heat of summer, we were able to stay cool during the day in the indoor pool. The outdoor pool overlooks Ago Bay. It’s shallow for swimming, so it may be better suited for children. All of the staff were kind and very pleasant. Both kids and adults were completely satisfied!

    We stayed in the cot...

We stayed in the cottage with two dogs and a family of four, and it was very nice. Although there were a few areas that felt a bit old, we had a very comfortable stay. Thank you very much.

    Because it was raini...

Because it was raining, we were disappointed that we couldn’t enjoy the spectacular views of Ago Bay. However, the Hotel cruise still operated even in the rain, so we joined. We were the only guests that day, so it felt like a private charter—we had a wonderful time listening to the captain’s stories and asking questions. It was also disappointing that the observatory we were looking forward to was closed due to the weather. Although we were told the Hotel building was crowded, it was hardly noisy at all. The guest room and hallways, large public bath, and restaurant were all quiet, and everything was easy to use smoothly. Above all, every member of the Hotel staff was kind and attentive, which made our stay very comfortable. We’d love to visit again when it’s sunny. Thank you very much.

    This time we stayed ...

This time we stayed for one night, but we really wish we had stayed two—we regret it. A few years ago, we stayed for two nights with our son’s family and were very satisfied, so this time we made a Reservation for just one night as a couple. The food was delicious, and the Room was spacious, so we could relax and enjoy our stay. The bath is a bit far from the Room, so we only used it once, but it was very relaxing and we were extremely satisfied. We may visit again soon.

Relax and unwind on our spacious grounds.

“Dog-Friendly Stay” According to the weather forecast, it was supposed to turn rainy from the evening, so we arrived just after 1:00 p.m. hoping to let our dog play as much as possible. We enjoyed a walk for over an hour around the spacious grounds (the pier area and cottage area). As the cottage was ready, we were kindly allowed to check in at 2:30 p.m. It was spotlessly cleaned down to every detail, and as a result we were able to spend two very pleasant days. Not only was the cottage wonderful, but the vast grounds were also well cared for and maintained, and we could really feel the staff’s efforts. Our dog still wasn’t done playing and ended up “battling” mountain crabs in the nearby stream. The nature here is untouched, making it feel like a true escape from everyday life. After feeding our dog in the evening, my spouse and I enjoyed a relaxing soak in the spacious natural Onsen bath, followed by dinner at the buffet with an excellent variety of dishes. We found ourselves saying that it had that same gentle flavor we always enjoy at The Westin Miyako Kyoto—there were Japanese, Western, and Chinese options, even yakisoba for kids—and we definitely ate too much. The meals were kind even for an older couple like us; they left both body and mind feeling refreshed. The next morning we ate heartily again—forgetting our age—but it didn’t feel heavy at all; truly delicious. The rain from yesterday had stopped as well, and after breakfast our dog went back for another round with those “mountain crabs.” Over these two days, we felt we received high-quality hospitality throughout. Cottage life allowed us to relax completely. This time we stayed at a great rate as well, and we would love to return again soon. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    Take your time.

This was my first time staying here. I was amazed by the natural Onsen. To be honest, when I made the Reservation, I didn’t know I would be able to use an Onsen. It was a very pleasant surprise. The water felt light and refreshing, and it was extremely relaxing. I also got to try stargazing for the first time in my life. Unfortunately, it was cloudy so we could only see it for a moment, but I did get to see Saturn. It was a valuable experience. I didn’t use the dinner service, but I did enjoy the breakfast buffet. I was very satisfied with the selection and quality. The sunset view was wonderful. Considering all of this, I think the Accommodation Fee is very reasonable. If I had one request, it would be better upkeep around the Hotel building and a bit more attention to exterior maintenance—it would have made the stay even better. Also, there are no convenience stores or shops nearby, so it’s best to check in advance before you go. Overall, it’s a Hotel where you can truly relax, and I’d like to stay again.

It was our first trip traveling with our dog.

We stayed in a dog cottage. It was our first trip with our dog, so we were nervous, but because it was a cottage-style Accommodation and surrounded by nature, we were able to stay without too much stress. We also appreciated having an environment where we could take our dog for walks. Also, there was a LOVOT near the front desk and it was adorable. The basic dog amenities such as a crate and pet bowls were provided. We brought extra items like pet sheets and diapers, but it helped that our luggage didn’t become too bulky. However, there was only one tissue box in the Room (at the vanity), and it would have been more convenient to have one at the sink as well. If possible, I’d like you to place one by the sink too. Also, since there was only one bath towel and one face towel per person, considering that we needed to bring towels to the large public bath, I wished there had been an additional small towel. The Facility had a slightly old-fashioned feel, but everything was carefully cleaned. The staff were all wonderful, and we had a comfortable stay from start to finish. We planned to have breakfast on the terrace with our dog, but that morning there were strong cold winds and it wasn’t possible to eat outside, so we canceled at short notice. We felt bad because you had already set up the table for us, but you handled it kindly without any displeasure—thank you very much. Overall, we were extremely satisfied. We would definitely like to stay here again when visiting Ise-Shima!

    Shima’s Hidden Retreat

We stayed here at the end of Golden Week with our 4-year-old grandchild. The building is a bit old, but both the interior and the garden were well maintained and very pleasant, a calm, relaxing place that felt like a private retreat. We came mainly for the heated pool, and we were able to use it for two days—our grandchild was thrilled. Also, Aqua the LOVOT in the entrance was adorable and soothing. We’d love to stay again in peak summer.

    Dinner was excellent and plentiful.

This was my first stay, traveling by car with my dog. I expected the staff to take my car key, but instead I drove to the cottage located on the Hotel grounds. There was no guidance about the restaurant for dinner, but even on the day we were able to use the buffet. We enjoyed the Onsen and walking around the spacious grounds with our dog.

    Unusually unpleasant.

In short, while the Facilities and surroundings are great, the overall experience was very disappointing. First, everything from arrival went smoothly. I arrived around 4 p.m. and really enjoyed taking a walk nearby—the air was quiet and pleasant. The pool area was calm with no noise, and it did feel like a proper resort. The Room also had a great view and felt open and spacious, which I was happy with. The observatory was cloudy so we couldn’t see the stars, but it was peaceful, and the staff’s explanation was polite. Up to this point, it was honestly very good. However, what ruined everything was the large public bath. When I went around 10 p.m., there was a group of more than 20 people—seemingly new employees—who all entered at once into a relatively small bath area. It became completely packed with loud chatter; I’ve never seen an open-air bath like that in my life. There’s nothing wrong with group guests themselves, but with that many people they should either make it private or clearly inform guests in advance that “this time slot will be used by a group.” I came expecting to bathe normally and only realized what was happening after I had already undressed—there was no easy way to turn back. That was truly unpleasant. If I had known beforehand, I could have chosen to go at a different time; not allowing for that is a serious issue. There was also an unpleasant incident at breakfast. After I dropped a small piece of omelet and moved it aside, an older guest who came later demanded to know “What is this?” Being criticized by a stranger during breakfast at a Hotel where you’re supposed to relax is simply uncomfortable. Even though plenty of staff were present, I wish they had noticed quickly and handled it. It may seem minor, but when these breakdowns in personal space add up, the atmosphere becomes uncomfortable all at once. Overall, despite the excellent Facilities and location, there wasn’t enough consideration in operations or control of shared spaces—I didn’t feel the resort experience worked as intended. As a result, this became my worst memory among all the Hotels and Ryokan I’ve stayed at before—and that made me sad.

    The surrounding area is excellent.

Perched on a hill overlooking Ago Bay, we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing two-night stay. Meals were served buffet-style with local ingredients, and the sashimi was especially delicious. However, the dinner and breakfast menus were almost the same on the second day. Areas for improvement are the pet cottage amenities and supplies. Since there were no outdoor slippers, we had to wear shoes to the Onsen. There were no paw-wiping towels or wet wipes for pets, so you need to bring your own towels. The indoor slippers were made of vinyl and had an unpleasant odor. Are these the same ones used in the Hotel building as well? The biggest inconvenience was that we couldn’t park in front of the cottage and had to walk from the parking lot. Fortunately it didn’t rain, so we could walk to the Hotel building, but without Shuttle Service this would be difficult in bad weather or for older guests. Because both the setting and meals are excellent, I think it’s a good Facility if you stay in the Hotel building.

We had a relaxing family stay at the cottage!

The cottage looks stylish from the outside, and inside it felt clean and well maintained. I think our dog was happy too, wandering around the house. In the cottage area, we could hear Japanese bush warblers singing and woodpeckers tapping on the trees—it really felt like spring, and we had a very peaceful time. We would love to stay again.

Great value for money and very satisfying.

I’ve stayed here many times. The Facility is a bit dated, but considering the price for one night with two meals, I’m very satisfied. It seemed fully booked, but it felt like they were limiting the number of rooms in use due to staff shortages. As a result, it wasn’t crowded and I had a stress-free stay. I’d like to visit again. As advice for those considering a Reservation: there are quite a few families, so it may not be ideal if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing stay.

    Calm and relaxing atmosphere

The parking lot is underground, so it's convenient even on rainy days. The interior is quiet and has a calm atmosphere. Meals are very average—neither particularly good nor bad. Each floor has a water dispenser, allowing you to drink as much as you like without creating plastic bottle waste. At night, there is an observatory tour available. The view from the walking paths on the premises was stunning. The only downside is that the bath is located far away.

    Scenery

It was my first time in Kashikojima. The view from the Hotel was amazing, and the buffet dinner, which I had been worried about, seemed to be arranged by group type and age, making it very comfortable. The interior of the Hotel was spacious, and everything from parking guidance to check-in went smoothly. I would love to stay here again if I have the chance.

    Satisfied.

I stayed here with my daughter's family during the New Year. The Facility is old, but we had a great time. The meals were delicious and very satisfying. We even met a raccoon on our way to the bath, making it a wonderful start to 2026!

The Room was good, but it lacked a sense of luxury.

Stayed at the top-floor Aqua Vista on New Year's Eve. The room was spacious and bright, with four beds comfortably arranged, and the view of Ago Bay from the room was stunning. However, the hotel's service overall felt unrefined and not up to luxury hotel standards. If categorized on IKYU.com, it might need a "casual" label. The front desk staff were mostly older men who lacked energy or friendliness in their guidance; we had to push our luggage cart ourselves to the room. Perhaps due to the year-end crowd, the Onsen changing rooms were not well-cleaned, with hair scattered around—so much so that I felt uncomfortable and washed my feet again in our private bathroom afterward. That said, the Onsen jacuzzi was powerful and refreshing but could benefit from more frequent cleaning. The meals resembled those of a standard hotel buffet; while there was plenty of seafood available, other dishes lacked quality. A male staff member who brought us drinks was cheerful, but overall there wasn’t much of a festive New Year’s atmosphere in either food or ambiance. The natural surroundings near the hotel—such as coastal views and green walking paths—were wonderful. Visiting during a warmer season on a weekday for casual nature walks might be more enjoyable without high expectations for luxury service or dining experiences. With amenities like a game corner and planetarium available, this level of casualness might actually suit families with children or younger guests looking for an easygoing stay better than those seeking sophistication or exclusivity.

    Perfect for a relaxing trip!

I wanted to relax and enjoy the Onsen, so I spent a lot of time at the Hotel. The scenery was beautiful, the complimentary coffee was delicious, and there was even a shop, making it a truly relaxing stay. The guest room had a small balcony where I could step outside to feel the sea breeze and stargaze. Unlike many hotels where windows barely open for safety reasons, this one offered a sense of openness which I appreciated. The Onsen didn’t have much of a view from the outdoor bath, but having an open-air bath itself was nice. The meals were varied with plenty of options; it seemed like more effort was put into the dinner buffet than other meals. Unfortunately, due to supply issues with certain alcohol brands, canned chuhai wasn’t available in vending machines. While beer is available, if you prefer chuhai drinks, I recommend purchasing them near the station beforehand. Personally, I found the bed too firm for my liking and couldn’t sleep well—having thin memory foam mattress toppers available for rent would be great! Because of this issue with comfort during sleep, I’m giving one less star. The area around the Hotel is also nice for strolling around—it’s perfect for a relaxing trip overall. Thank you very much for this experience!

I stayed at the Pet ...

I stayed at the Pet Cottage. The interior Room was cleaner and better than the exterior appearance, but there were two disappointing points. One was that the air conditioner vent in the mezzanine Room had mold on its blades. The other was that I borrowed a humidifier, but its interior was very dirty, so I decided not to use it and instead used a wet bath towel as a substitute for humidification. Despite these two issues, the meals, bath, and being able to see Saturn at the observatory were very enjoyable.

Stay at the cottage with 2 dogs for 2 nights.

Stayed for 2 nights at a cottage where dogs are welcome. It was early autumn, so there were no bothersome insects, and we had a comfortable stay. The meals were delicious, but the menu was almost the same for both nights, which was slightly disappointing. While the cottage showed its age, it was well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. However, the distance to the Hotel's Facility and parking lot made it challenging to move with children and two dogs in the rain. Allowing parking next to the cottage or providing carts could solve this issue.

    Unfortunately...

Located in the innermost part of Shima, the natural environment is truly exceptional. The bath is also wonderful, though it is extremely far from the Room. However, the meals are disappointing. Most of the dishes lack a handmade feel and seem to be just taken out of a bag and placed in containers. While there may be various circumstances, it would be appreciated if the supplier could be changed or the budget slightly increased to provide better value for guests. I had a Multiple Night Stay, but on the second day, I lost my appetite!
