    A hospitality-filled accommodation.

    The service was excellent. I was very satisfied with the email communication, phone support, and assistance on the day. The Room was renovated and comfortable. I enjoyed fresh seafood, which was very delicious. Additionally, you arranged fireworks for us, allowing us to have a wonderful time. I would like to visit again during crab season next time. Thank you in advance for your hospitality then!

    Stay in the Shaka Room

    We visited by car from Kyoto City. Regarding dinner, we initially wanted to order the Live Squid Sashimi Plan, but since the availability of squid could not be guaranteed, we switched to the Summer Special Plan and decided to add live squid as an option if available. Unfortunately, there was no live squid on the day of our visit, which was very disappointing as it is a rare treat for us. We heard that it has been difficult to catch squid recently. If this is a rare occurrence, it might be better not to offer it as a plan but only list it as an optional item instead. Additionally, since raw shellfish was included in the Summer Special Plan and I am not fond of raw shellfish, I informed them in advance and they agreed to substitute other dishes for me. However, when the meal was served, there was no explanation about which dishes had been substituted or what they were replaced with. As for the tofu served with the pike conger hot pot (Hamo Shabu-shabu), both my wife and I noticed an odd taste immediately upon eating it. It seemed slightly spoiled in both smell and flavor. We informed a staff member right away; shortly after that, the head chef came over personally and apologized sincerely after tasting it himself. This incident dampened our mood during what should have been an enjoyable dinner experience. The absence of live squid may have contributed further disappointment; other dishes felt rather ordinary overall—some even served on resin tableware instead of more refined options like ceramic or porcelain plates. One dish featuring simmered beef with eggplant & green peppers lacked proper seasoning altogether—it simply wasn’t tasty at all. At checkout time next morning—a female assistant manager(?) apologized briefly regarding last night’s issues—but ideally speaking—I believe either General Manager alongside Head Chef themselves ought’ve come directly into rooms apologizing properly during stay itself—or least met guests face-to-face while checking out! Lastly—given how significant mishaps occurred concerning meals provided—it’d seem fair compensating guests somehow whether partial refunds offered—or alternative gestures extended showing goodwill towards resolving grievances raised amicably! While accommodations themselves—including baths/services rendered otherwise satisfactory—the dining experience left much room improvement ultimately leaving bittersweet impression behind overall!

    A Vacation for Couples

    I stayed for one night on June 10th and 11th. I had visited about three years ago before the renovation. This time, I decided to stay after learning about the renovation on IKYU. The open-air bath has become significantly larger compared to before, and I was very satisfied. I remembered enjoying fresh oysters during my previous visit, and this time, the steamed oysters were also very delicious. However, some of the other dishes were a bit too strongly flavored for our taste, which was slightly disappointing. I would love to visit again if I have another opportunity. Thank you very much!

    It was a very lovely accommodation.

    I didn't know there was such a wonderful accommodation in Kumihama. The room had two Onsen baths, an indoor bath and an open-air bath, both with cloudy hot spring water that I enjoyed multiple times. The water was excellent. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were just the right amount and very delicious. I never encountered other guests during my stay, making it very comfortable. However, one disappointment was that although it was advertised as an ocean-view room, the sea could not be seen from the room's bath... While I could see the sea over the hedge, there was a road in front which might have been necessary to ensure privacy for the bath area. Also, if I may indulge in luxury wishes—it would have been nice if the hairdryer were a high-end model like RiFa. It was an accommodation that left me completely satisfied after a long time. I would love to visit again! Thank you so much!

    I was healed by indulging in Onsen.

    This was our second stay following last year. The Onsen in the room is a true luxury, with both an indoor and outdoor bath. Additionally, there is a large public bath, making it perfect for Onsen lovers. The room was new and comfortable, allowing us to relax fully. Meals were served in the room at a good pace, which we appreciated. The food was delicious and very filling. One concern during breakfast was the way dishes were explained—our server opened the lids of my husband's dishes to explain them and then closed them again (repeating this for three covered items). While I understand that it might have been done because the staff member, who seemed to be from abroad, found it easier to show rather than explain verbally in Japanese, I felt uncomfortable as these are items already served to guests. If needed, guests can open their own lids for explanations. That said, the staff member's smile and effort left a positive impression. Another suggestion would be adding hooks around the bathroom area in the room for hanging yukata robes or towels—it would also be convenient if hooks were available near the outdoor bath. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay! We also enjoyed the free drinks available in the lobby. We will definitely return again!

    I usually stay at accommodations of the same or higher rank 5 to 7 times a year, but here are some points I found questionable or disappointing. These are purely personal impressions: - The dinner drink menu was a single laminated sheet, which gave off a casual pub-like vibe. - There was an additional charge for setting up extra bedding (3,300 yen per set), which was a first-time experience for me. - I requested to have the leftover mixed rice from dinner made into rice balls, but this request was declined (in my experience, many places have kindly accommodated such requests for late-night snacks). The facility is small in size and allowed for relaxation even during Golden Week; however, these issues stood out to me. I don't think I'll be revisiting.

    Renovated

    The review is a bit late, but we revisited in March after a little over a year. This accommodation is always relaxing, and this time the room had been renovated. The newly placed sofa was very comfortable, and my mother, who has knee issues, was delighted. Dinner was as delicious as ever—we thoroughly enjoyed the crab. Breakfast was also satisfying. I wish to visit more often, but with the limited number of rooms available, it’s challenging to make reservations for weekends. With the renovation, the toilet and washroom were combined into one space; I found it slightly inconvenient and would like to aim for a different room next time. Thank you very much! Looking forward to staying again!

    I was satisfied.

    The friendly hospitality of the hostess and the sincere service of the staff were excellent. The meals, especially the crab, were outstanding, and breakfast was truly delicious. The quality of the Onsen water was amazing, and both the open-air bath and indoor bath in the Room were fantastic. I would love to visit again.

    Third visit, enjoyed crab dishes and refreshed in the bath.

    I stayed in the Jizo Room this time. The crab dishes for dinner exceeded my expectations, and I even forgot to take photos. The special request for raw Mosa shrimp was kindly accommodated, and it was sweet and delicious. The dried flounder served at breakfast had its bones removed, making it easy to enjoy. The room's bath featured natural hot spring water at just the right temperature, allowing me to relax and refresh myself fully.

    It was comfortable.

    This was my second stay. The property has been renovated, and both the bath and room were very comfortable. I really appreciated the shuttle service to the station, which is quite a distance away. Regarding meals, considering the price, the crab might not have had a tag, but it was delicious with ample portions that left me satisfied. However, there were two minor disappointments worth mentioning. Firstly, there was no accessory tray around the desk as you would typically find in hotels; since earrings and such are small items, it was slightly inconvenient not having a place to put them after taking them off. Secondly, due to an incoming cold wave and snowfall making it very cold, going for meals or to the large public bath without something like a haori (traditional Japanese coat) made it extremely chilly. Even if providing haori is difficult, having something like a shawl or any kind of wrap would be beneficial as even short distances are hard to walk in zori sandals with stairs where running isn't possible either. Nonetheless, neither of these points significantly affected my overall evaluation; I had an overall very comfortable stay at this property.

    You can enjoy Onsen, crab dishes, and a relaxing time.

    I have used this Property many times, and each time I visit, they prepare something new for me. The deliciousness of the crab dishes enjoyed during the winter season is exceptional, and the onsen with natural hot spring water warms you to the core. In recent years, guest rooms have been renovated, and this time a sauna has been installed in the large public bath. (It used to be a space for stone saunas before?) The hospitality of the proprietress and staff is always kind and seems to prioritize allowing guests to relax. From check-in to check-out, it is a place where you can spend leisurely time away from everyday life. Other guests also seem to love this Property. You can feel that everyone is considerate of each other so as not to disturb the atmosphere.

    A Birthday Trip for My Husband

    I had the pleasure of staying at Ippeian once before for my husband's birthday trip, and the delicious food, wonderful hospitality, and comfortable atmosphere made for a truly enjoyable experience. So, we decided to visit again for my husband's birthday trip this time as well! Last time, I was so happy when they wrote "Happy Birthday" on a plate, so I mentioned that it would be nice if they could do something similar on the dessert this time. To my surprise, the proprietress gifted us a bottle of sake, which made me so happy. I apologize if I was being too forward ( ; ; ) Thank you so much. Now that our second child has been born and started crawling, I was reminded of how comfortable our stay was last time when our eldest son had just started crawling. I had high expectations for the Room, and it exceeded them! The Room had been renovated, making it even more spacious with a lovely hinoki wood scent. The dining area was also larger than before, which was a pleasant surprise. Thank you for preparing a futon for our child as well. The bath was very relaxing. However, the faucet was the type where you press it and water comes out for a few seconds, like in a public bath, which made it a bit challenging to bathe the children. I think a regular faucet would be more convenient. That said, the overall experience was so wonderful that I would love to visit again. The crab was absolutely delicious.     It was very good!

    The meal was a light crab course, but it was still very filling. My husband said he doesn't want to see crab for a while. It was very delicious. The Room and Onsen were also great. My whole body became smooth. More than anything, I was impressed by the hospitality of the Property staff. This is a Property I want to make an annual tradition.

    Very satisfying Stays.

    This was my second stay. I thought it was a good property four years ago, but this time the room was renovated and it became an even more wonderful stay. I relaxed in both the outdoor and indoor onsen. The open-air bath with a roof in the snow was the best. The Vietnamese staff who took care of our meals was very friendly and polite. Thank you very much. I chose a weekday value course that uses frozen crab with the onsen as the main focus, but the sashimi and grilled crab were so delicious that I couldn't believe they were frozen. How can they defrost it like that?? It was a very satisfying property. However, the shower had a lever and stopped immediately, which was a bit inconvenient, and when going to the bathroom through the toilet space (the toilet space is very clean, so I don't mind passing through it), the toilet lid opened each time, so I thought it could be a little less sensitive. Both are not really issues, just minor points. It's a property I would like to stay at again.

    The cuisine is exceptional!

    I chose this Stays to enjoy crab and Onsen. The meal was so plentiful that I couldn't finish it, and I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious crab. The private dining room was separated by just one sliding door from the next person, and the sound and voices were completely audible, so it didn't feel like the private room I had imagined. There was coffee, lychee juice, and wine in the lobby, but the lychee juice was empty for two days, and since there were only seven groups of guests, I don't think it would run out overnight even if they replenished it, so I was disappointed that no staff seemed to be checking the contents. The open-air bath in the Room had black fine debris floating in the water, possibly from the wooden bottom, and when I sat in the bathtub, my bottom got dirty... A lot of brown debris stuck to my body, and when I wiped it with a towel, the towel got stained brown. This was also disappointing. The Room was divided into a bedroom and a living room? by a corridor, and I thought it would be more comfortable if they were connected. I guess it's unavoidable due to the structure. Also, it was written that they would take a commemorative photo for those who wanted it, but they never asked if I wanted it or not. Since it's listed as a Plan of the Property, shouldn't they ask if you want it or not? It's a shame because the food was so good, but I felt a bit disappointed.

Last time, due to my husband's sudden illness, we couldn't enjoy the crab dinner, but this time we were able to visit in perfect health. We were able to fully enjoy the crab we were looking forward to this time, and we are satisfied. However, my impression from last time is that last year's crab was tastier... It might be due to the difference in the Plan, so it's just a gut feeling... But we were quite satisfied. Thank you very much. The breakfast was luxurious with a variety of dishes, and the dried flounder was thick and delicious. As for the bath, perhaps because there were few people using the large public bath, I was able to use it alone and take my time. Of course, I was also able to relax in the Room's bath, spending time that I can't experience at home. After all, the Room also has a natural Onsen, so it's luxurious.     I was able to relax very much.

    I was able to relax very much. The food was extremely delicious, the view from the Room was excellent, and I enjoyed the open-air bath several times. The staff were kind and courteous, and they saw us off while having various conversations until the end. Thank you very much. The Room was also clean, and the amenities were really good. It would have been easier to do makeup if the lighting in the washroom space was a bit brighter, and it would have been nice to have softer tissues instead of paper towels.

    So close!!

    I believe the quality of the meals, facilities, and hot spring water is top-notch. However, the behavior of the proprietress and staff was at the lowest level for the hospitality industry. Specifically, when we were departing, it was raining heavily, so I pleaded with the proprietress to sell me one of the vinyl umbrellas (there were about 10) at the entrance of the property. However, she refused, saying, "We don't do that!" Normally, even without being asked by the guest, a level of service where the staff would say, "Please feel free to take a vinyl umbrella," is expected. Additionally, there were other instances of unfriendly staff and shortened meal times, which made guests uncomfortable. Since everything else is at an appropriate level, the proprietress and all the staff should review the basic aspects of hospitality and the spirit of service. This is a typical example of a "Ryokan with a grand structure but lacking human interaction." I hope for serious reflection! In conclusion, it is very unfortunate, but I cannot recommend this property to my travel-loving friends.

    I chose this property to enjoy crab, and I was very satisfied with not only the crab but also the onsen. The only slight inconvenience was that the open-air bath, toilet, and washroom are connected, making it a bit inconvenient when someone is using one of them.     This was my first vi...

    This was my first visit. I checked in at 3 PM because I wanted to enjoy the room and the bath. There were free drinks at the front desk, and I could enjoy some delicious wine with light snacks. I stayed in the Amida room, where I could enjoy a leisurely in-room dining experience. Since it was recently renovated, the dining area, living room, bedroom, and bath were all very spacious and clean. The bath had two options, an indoor bath and an open-air bath, both of which were flowing onsen that warmed my body, and the warmth continued even after getting out of the bath. The meal was a crab course, including sashimi, grilled, boiled, crab hot pot, and rice porridge, which was so satisfying that I couldn't finish it all. (I took the boiled crab home with me.) As I was leaving, the proprietress told me that squid dishes are recommended in the summer, so I would like to come back in the summer. I am truly grateful for the heartfelt hospitality from the proprietress, who waved us off, and all the staff.

    There are no drawbacks. A good impression from the staff's welcome. The Room was newly renovated and the Facility was excellent. The salty spring quality of both the room bath and the large public bath is extremely pleasant, and the temperature is mild enough for a long soak. The crab-filled dinner was too much to finish, and I barely managed to reach the rice porridge. It was delicious! Breakfast was also just the right amount and the entire meal was stylish. The hostess waved until she was out of sight, and I left with a warm feeling. Thank you very much for having us.

    Starting from the ar...

    Starting from the arrival by car, the renovated guest rooms, the open-air bath attached to the Room, the high-concentration indoor bath, perfect amenities, and the highly satisfying dinner and breakfast, everything was perfect. However, I felt there was room for improvement regarding meals in the private room. Although it was a private room, the partition without soundproofing made the voices from the next seat clearly audible, and since the content was particularly unpleasant, my partner and I were a bit disheartened. Since everything else was perfect, I think it would be more comfortable if there were options like upgrading to have meals in the Room.

    Looking forward to the cuisine.

    With only 7 rooms, the accommodation offered a relaxing and peaceful stay. The onsen was incredibly soothing, helping to relieve all the daily stress. Before leaving, we were shown other rooms, each with its own unique charm, which got us excited about choosing a different room for our next visit. During dinner, a lovely Vietnamese staff member dressed beautifully in a kimono provided attentive service, which made the experience very satisfying. However, when we requested to have the final rice dish turned into onigiri for a late-night snack, they kindly checked but returned apologetically saying we would need to make it ourselves. The rice was then served in a bowl with mixed ingredients and wrapped in plastic film. The food this time was less salty compared to our previous visit but could still use some improvement in flavor. Lastly, it was disappointing not to receive the complimentary drink included as part of the Diamond Member benefits—though admittedly we should have asked about it ourselves.

    I had a very pleasant stay.

    We stayed in a spacious room for two and had a wonderful experience. The room had just been renovated, and the pleasant scent of fresh tatami was delightful. The walls seemed to be made with diatomaceous earth, making the air in the room feel very refreshing! There was a dining area right next door, and although I thought it looked rather plain when I saw photos on the site before making the reservation, it turned out to be exactly as expected—a clean "dining hall" where we enjoyed our meals (laughs). Since it was a large room, perhaps adding even one piece of artwork could enhance its atmosphere. The separate dining area seems to have an "inn" ambiance, so I felt that rooms offering in-room dining could also benefit from some added decor to make them even more charming. As for the meals, we were extremely satisfied with their presentation, taste, and portion size. This matched perfectly with what other guests mentioned in their reviews. The open-air bath was designed thoughtfully to prevent insects from floating on the water, allowing us to enjoy it comfortably. Additionally, I loved the fireplace outside near the lobby—it was so relaxing at night sitting by its side while listening to ocean sounds under its warm glow. Lastly but most importantly, all staff members provided heartfelt hospitality that made this trip truly rejuvenating for both body and mind. We would love to visit again!
