    Perfect for families

    The food was absolutely delicious! All the staff were kind, and we had a very comfortable stay. Course meals are still a bit difficult with kids, but this is perfect for families who want great food. The Onsen was also amazing. It’s a clean, relaxing Hotel that I wholeheartedly recommend to families with children. If I had to mention one thing, it’s a shame there weren’t many souvenirs for sale (at first, I didn’t even realize they were being sold). If the souvenir shop were better stocked, we definitely would have bought a lot.

    A Return Visit: Wonderful Sunsets and Warm Hospitality

    I returned for a second stay after last year. At check-in, I was welcomed with a warm smile and the words, “Welcome back.” This is a Hotel that makes me want to come again next year. The meals are truly delicious, featuring local Yakushima ingredients as well as specialties from across Kyushu. *Note (Report): This is not directly related to the Hotel staff, but around sunset a yoga instructor was teaching on the terrace. I believe they were privately hired by a guest (they were also exchanging payment on the terrace). Hearing loud instructions like “Inhale and exhale” on that 360° terrace at sunset was a bit disappointing... I hope I won’t run into this situation next time. (This is not a complaint about the Hotel staff—just for your information.)

    First time in Yakushima, second night

    My friend and I stayed for one night and two days. When we arrived at the front desk to check in, an insect flew toward us and I let out a small scream, but the woman at reception smiled and said, “I’ve lived on Yakushima for a long time, but you never really get used to the insects,” which put me at ease and was very comforting. The lobby was spacious and clean, and the Room was also extremely clean with an amazing ocean view. Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner; in particular, the Margherita pizza and mushroom risotto made to order by the chef were delicious. The bath also had a luxurious ocean view, and the silky-smooth water soaked into my body after all the trekking. This time we stayed only one night, but I’d love to come back and stay a bit longer next time.

    The view from the Onsen Suite is among the best in Japan.

    My fourth trip to Yakushima. Since this will be my last for a while, I originally planned to splurge on three nights at Sankara Hotel. However, after casually watching Luna Yamamoto’s YouTube video, I immediately made a Reservation for the Samana Hotel Onsen Suite and requested the same Room. The stay turned out exactly as I had imagined. In fact, I stayed at Samana Hotel in mountain-side Rooms last year and the year before. With a high-quality buffet and a relaxing Onsen, you can time it right and enjoy a very satisfying stay at a reasonable price. This time it was more expensive, but it was truly a wonderful experience. For me, the spectacular view from this Room is on par with Kai Kirishima. As always, the food was delicious, and the open kitchen uses an excellent system. I feel refreshed. Thank you very much.

    Is the property managed by a Japanese person?

    Meals were buffet-style, but the selection was limited and not suitable for older guests. The quality of the alcohol was also poor. There were no newspapers in the lounge, which felt unusual compared to Japan.

    I was planning to visit Yakushima with friends from Shanghai, but I was injured and couldn’t go. The Hotel staff helped us a lot by adjusting our Accommodation Plan and arranging a sightseeing taxi. My friends were all very satisfied and returned to Shanghai. Thank you very much for everything.

    Perfect if you want to relax and unwind on Yakushima!

    During the day, you can take in views of both the sea and the mountains. At night, there is an open area where you can gaze at the stars. An exceptionally blessed location. From the Room, you can see Mt. Mocchomudake and the blue ocean, and truly feel the power of nature. A wonderful Room that makes you want to stay here forever. Meals are buffet-style, but with a calm atmosphere, and I appreciated that they also brought freshly prepared dishes to us. The interior design also felt very thoughtfully done. (Perhaps many pieces are from a famous furniture maker in Osaka—luxurious!) The Onsen water is wonderfully silky and thick—like soaking in toner—such a pleasant surprise. And it was great to be able to see a breathtaking sunset view as well. This is a Hotel I would love to stay at again when I want to spend slow, relaxing time on Yakushima Island.

    This is my second time.

    I visited again because the woman who assisted me last time was wonderful, but she wasn’t there this time… The Hotel meals and the Onsen were as satisfying as ever, but it felt like the quality of service had dropped a bit.

    I came for the amazi...

    I came for the amazing views and, to be honest, didn’t expect much after hearing the meals were buffet-style. However, the main dishes were prepared in a live kitchen and brought to our table freshly cooked. The portions were small, so we could try many different items, and we were very satisfied. The staff were also very kind. We happened to stay on a day when there was a morning stretching program, and it felt wonderful to stretch under a clear blue sky with the ocean right in front of us.

    Relaxing time

    I had a relaxing four-night stay. There is an Onsen, the food was delicious, and the staff were kind, making my stay very comfortable. I would love to stay here again when I visit Yakushima. Thank you very much.

    We stayed as a family of three with my husband and our preschool-aged daughter. We made the Reservation for our daughter without bedding, but you provided loungewear suitable for her age. It also seemed that you adjusted the bed placement to help prevent her from falling. Thank you for your thoughtful attention to detail. We had a wonderful stay and would love to return during whale season.

    Before our stay, they emailed to confirm whether we needed a trekking tour or boxed lunches, which made it easy to share details in advance and everything went smoothly. The Room was clean and the food was delicious. Everything at the buffet was great, and since it wasn’t a set course it was easy to adjust; the sashimi and the live-kitchen meat dishes were especially tasty! The pajamas came as separate top and bottom pieces and were comfortable to wear, and it was nice that plenty of towels were provided. The Room with an Onsen was expensive, but it was wonderful for relaxing after trekking or in the morning the next day—it really helped relieve fatigue. All of the staff were kind and spoke to us warmly; everyone we met was lovely. There is no Shuttle Service to the airport, and it’s a remote location, but if you’re renting a car for sightseeing, this Accommodation is highly recommended!

    My first trip to Yakushima was amazing.

    I wasn’t sure how to plan my first visit to Yakushima, but thanks to the advice I received in advance, it became a meaningful 3-day, 2-night trip. The Hotel is just the right size, and the staff’s attentiveness was exceptional—everything I saw throughout my stay felt pleasant and comfortable. Being able to enjoy an Onsen on the island and the breathtaking view from my Room—one you could watch forever without getting tired of it—made it even more special. The only regret is that there were so many dining options that I couldn’t try them all. I stayed solo this time, but I believe this is a valuable Accommodation where everyone—from solo travelers to three-generation family trips—can spend time comfortably. Thank you so much to all the staff.

    It became a wonderful memory!

    It was our first trip to Yakushima as a mother and child. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed, and every staff member treated us with kindness. They provided detailed guidance on maps and even offered to take a photo of the three of us when it was difficult to do so ourselves. The winter constellations visible from the square in front of the Hotel were truly stunning—thank you to the staff who shared this information and lent us binoculars. We enjoyed one dinner and two breakfasts, all featuring an excellent variety of seafood dishes. The live kitchen risotto and French toast were absolutely delicious! My children were thrilled and said they want to come back again! We created wonderful memories in Yakushima together as a family. Thank you very much!

    The hotel is located...

    The hotel is located at the tip of a cape, offering stunning views and a full panorama of the horizon. The quality of the Onsen is excellent and highly recommended. The rooms have been beautifully renovated; while they may not have the luxurious feel of its sister hotel, Sankara, they are relatively affordable and provide a comfortable space. Dinner and breakfast are served buffet-style and were thoroughly enjoyable. The only downside is that there is no restaurant available for lunch.

    The staff's hospitality was excellent, and the buffet menu offered great variety over three days, earning a five-star satisfaction rating. The mildly alkaline Onsen was outstanding.

    I want to visit this Hotel again!!

    We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful experience. ● Room The room was more spacious than expected, very clean, and comfortable to use. The amenity pouch was also adorable. ● Food As mentioned in the reviews, the food was incredibly delicious, and we ended up eating too much (laughs). ● Onsen The onsen had a silky texture that soothed our bodies after trekking. Above all, the staff were kind and made our stay very pleasant. Although it’s a bit far from the airport, there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel entrance, which was convenient. This time I visited with friends, but since the hotel was so great, I’d love to come back with my family next time!

    Absolutely amazing.

    The most memorable part of my trip to Yakushima was staying at this hotel. The staff's impression and hospitality were outstanding, and even the children were impressed. The room we stayed in was excellent, with large windows offering breathtaking views of Mt. Mocchomu, the sea, as well as the sunrise and sunset. The facilities such as the restaurant and onsen were also fantastic, and I would love to stay here again. If I know anyone planning a trip to Yakushima, I will definitely recommend this accommodation.

    Ultimate Relaxation

    Stayed at this accommodation on the last day of my long-awaited trip to Yakushima. As mentioned in the reviews, the staff welcomed us with bright smiles and excellent hospitality. The mountain-side room had a stunning view, which was very satisfying! The food at the restaurant was delicious, though I felt there were fewer fruit options. Since it’s a bit far from Jomon Sugi for an early morning visit, we chose to stay here on our final day. It was disappointing not to find a souvenir corner.

    A highly satisfying Hotel.

    Drawn by the advertisement copy "Above the Sea, Below the Mountain," I made a Reservation. I thought I would be satisfied as long as the view and bath were good, but everything exceeded my expectations—spectacular views, Onsen, cuisine, hospitality, room comfort—all contributed to an incredibly satisfying Yakushima stay. This Hotel's warmth and care truly rejuvenated my tired body and mind after trekking. I look forward to staying here again on my next visit to Yakushima. Thank you very much!

    Stayed for 2 nights.

    The room was not spacious, but it was clean and functional. The staff were friendly and their greetings were pleasant. The food was delicious, and the live kitchen was a nice touch. The Onsen water was excellent, leaving my skin feeling smooth and hydrated. Although it is far from the airport, I thought its location with both the sea and mountains nearby was great.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    First time in Yakushima, stayed for 3 nights in an Onsen suite. As many reviews mentioned, I thought it was a great Hotel. The facilities, including the quality of the Onsen, were well-maintained down to the smallest details and very satisfying. However, for a room costing over 50,000 yen per night, the lounge and refrigerator drink options felt slightly lacking and it was disappointing that there was no sauna. The staff were absolutely wonderful—truly exceptional. Their smiles alone make me want to return again. To H-san who assisted us at the restaurant during your short-term work there: just like your name suggests a vibrant flower blooming under the summer sun, your smile gave us so much energy after our tiring trek. My wife also said she hopes we can meet you again next year if possible. Although it was our first time in Yakushima and we had some concerns due to our age, this place turned out to be far more amazing than we imagined. We will visit again next year. Thank you very much!

    Exceptional Hospitality

    Stayed for 2 nights for the Jomon Sugi tour. Last year, everything was canceled due to a typhoon, so this year was a chance to make up for it. Fortunately, the weather was perfect, and I enjoyed the breathtaking starry sky and sunrise the next morning. The Hotel staff were all friendly and welcoming, the restaurant's food was delicious, and the menu on the second day had some delightful variations. Exceptional hospitality! Thank you!

    I traveled alone, but the staff were incredibly warm and hospitable. The Onsen at Onoaida was smooth and wonderful, and the sound of the waves from the open-air bath and the view from the deck terrace were truly refreshing. Thank you very much. The Hotel was clean and serene, with rooms and amenities that felt just right for me. I was pleasantly surprised to find facilities like a washing area for trekking shoes. Meals were served buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner, with a wide variety of live kitchen options that changed daily. By utilizing the salad bar, ordering pasta or main dishes from the kitchen, and enjoying an array of desserts, it felt like having a full-course meal experience. Perhaps I overate because I found myself exhausted on my first day of trekking! However, I managed to complete my planned routes to Taikoiwa in Shiratani Unsuikyo on one day and Jomon Sugi on another day. What started as sightseeing turned into serious hiking—staring intently at my feet while battling through challenging paths made it feel like a journey against myself! Unfortunately, I didn’t have much energy left to fully enjoy Yakushima’s picturesque atmosphere with its babbling streams or chirping birds as seen in photo books. By the time I returned home, though physically tired from muscle fatigue, I felt recharged by Yakushima’s relaxed pace of life and by the warmth of your staff—I am truly grateful for this experience. While families may not frequently use this Hotel as much as solo travelers do, it would be nice if there were more exhibits in your library or displays featuring creative art pieces by local pottery artists. Additionally, since many visitors spend time under Yakushima's strong sunlight during their trip here—a facial mask included among amenities might be appreciated! This is definitely a Hotel I'd recommend to solo travelers!

    We confidently recommend this Hotel.

    Overall, this was an excellent hotel. We stayed in a mountain-side room as we were not particular about having an ocean view, and the scenery exceeded our expectations—it was a great choice. Since we could enjoy the ocean view during meals, it felt like a bonus. The room accommodated three of us comfortably, and even the extra bed was spacious and provided the best sleep we've had compared to other hotels where we've used extra beds before. The room size was sufficient, with well-prepared towels and amenities that made our stay comfortable. We chose a breakfast-included plan for this trip but canceled breakfast on the day of our Jomon Cedar trekking tour. Instead, they kindly prepared both breakfast and lunch bento boxes for us. We also had dinner at the hotel every night except for the first evening, including their bento boxes—all of which were delicious. My son especially loved the live kitchen experience and looked forward to it every time. For our family with a growing teenager, we found everything—from food quality to staff service—exceptional and felt it offered great value for money. The staff were all kind and demonstrated high levels of hospitality throughout our stay. They greeted us warmly whenever we passed by reception and responded promptly to pre-arrival email inquiries, making us feel secure during our visit. The onsen was fantastic as well; it helped relieve fatigue after trekking—a must-have facility for those planning similar activities. Lastly, there is one minor point that disappointed me: I noticed someone bringing a stroller into the changing area once, which surprised me slightly since it's an area where people walk barefooted. The baby in question seemed to be resting in a crib nearby; therefore, I thought leaving the stroller outside would have been more appropriate. While this might seem overly sensitive on my part, I did find it concerning given hygiene considerations in such spaces without constant staff supervision at entrances—it left me feeling slightly let down about this aspect alone.

    Both the sea and the mountains are amazing.

    Stayed on the third night of a 4-day trip to Yakushima. Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed by the location. I had booked an ocean-view room without much thought, simply because it was a seaside hotel, but for a moment, I regretted not choosing a mountain-view room. The majestic and beautiful Mt. Mocchomu stood right in front of the hotel. (In the end, I was completely satisfied with my ocean-view room thanks to its large windows offering stunning sea views and breathtaking sunsets—no regrets at all.) Dinner was buffet-style with a carefully selected variety of dishes that were all incredibly delicious. Many dishes were prepared at live cooking stations, including roast beef, roast pork, shabu-shabu, several types of pizza and pasta—all freshly made and delightful. The open-air onsen overlooking the sea was absolutely amazing as well. It felt like my body melted away from all the fatigue after trekking. This quiet and relaxing hotel had an unpretentious charm and was truly wonderful. I definitely want to visit again!

    We had a very comfor...

    We had a very comfortable stay as a family of three. The meals were excellent, with both dinner and breakfast served buffet-style, offering everything from high-end restaurant-quality dishes to local ingredients.     Truly a wonderful Hotel

    Stayed for 3 nights with my elementary school daughter in the latter half of Obon. As many have already mentioned, it was truly a wonderful accommodation. We arrived during the welcome shaved ice service period, which immediately lifted our spirits. The room was a standard ocean-view room, spacious enough for two travelers. We were blessed with 4 days of good weather, enjoying views of the blue sky, sea, and lighthouse during the day and even spotting the Milky Way at night. Initially booked a breakfast-only plan but added dinner on the first day after discovering how delicious the buffet was. After hiking, we didn’t feel like going out again and ended up adding more dinners to our stay. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent with plenty of options at the live kitchen as well. The onsen included an open-air bath with stunning views and beautifying waters that were simply amazing. Lastly (and I think this is most important), every staff member was kind, attentive, and made our stay very pleasant. I would definitely choose this accommodation again when visiting Yakushima!

    The whole family will be delighted!

    We arrived at the Hotel at 6 PM after participating in the Jomon Cedar trekking tour. It was such a nice Hotel that I wished we could have checked in around 3 PM to relax. We stayed as a family of four, and everything—guest room, meals, and bath—was excellent. Everyone was very satisfied. The dinner buffet was especially delightful, with delicious roast beef and oysters. The all-you-can-drink alcohol menu allowed us to enjoy plenty of refills at a reasonable price. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much!
