    Moderately satisfied

    Although this Hotel is famous throughout the whole country, its reputation seems to outweigh the actual experience. The conger eel dish was not properly deboned. I hope the dining service will live up to its name.

    It was great!

    We stayed as three generations. We could really feel the staff’s attentive care and consideration. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent—we enjoyed them very much. The Onsen was also great. We had hoped to eat sea bream that our grandchild caught in the fish pond, but it wasn’t possible on either of the two days.

    Hotel New Awaji

    It was simply amazing!! I’ve stayed at many large Ryokan, and I was delighted to enjoy both the scenic-view baths and a variety of hot springs. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, with more food than we could finish. Everything was truly delicious—thank you very much. The building had a classic, long-established feel, but the staff’s hospitality was outstanding. We stayed with our child and had a great time without ever getting bored, thanks to the pool, fishing, arcade, and play area. It made us want to come back again if we get the chance. We debated among several Accommodations on Awaji Island (including sister properties), but we’re congratulating ourselves for making a great choice with Hotel New Awaji.

    The Room was very nice.

    The Room was clean, which was great. The in-room bath was very relaxing. It was disappointing to find a large spider web in the corner of the in-room bath. We had requested tuna for the children’s meal in advance, but were told on the day that tuna could not be delivered, which was disappointing. We tried Kowari fishing but didn’t catch anything, which was disappointing. Also, due to an issue with the fishing rod, we had to go back and forth to the lobby many times, which was inconvenient. Overall, the Room was excellent.

    We enjoyed our stay.

    The kids loved the pool slide and went down it again and again. We really appreciated that it’s available at night as well. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. There were many different types of baths, and it was great to see the sunrise. We also tried fishing, but it was too windy to catch anything. We’d love to visit again.

    Fully satisfied with both the Onsen and the cuisine.

    I’ve been a repeat guest for over 20 years. The interior has been renovated, and even in the 12-tatami Room at Yume Daichi, four adults were able to spend time comfortably. The view from the bath was outstanding, and thanks to the sunrise time 안내 provided, I was able to take beautiful photos of the sunrise while walking along the corridor. The morning bath at Tenku no Shizuku was truly spectacular, with bands of light gradually shimmering and stretching out. The quality of the dinner was even better than during my previous stay, and the portions were perfectly planned. I enjoyed everything right through to dessert. I also appreciated the service of turning the leftover octopus rice into rice balls. At breakfast, they kindly suggested a cart for carrying trays out of consideration for my elderly mother. From those who delivered in-room meals to all staff members, I was extremely satisfied with their attentive service. This is an Accommodation I’d like to visit every year.

    This was my second stay, but…

    I stayed here once before and had a great experience, so I booked again, but this time it felt just okay. Most things were excellent, but there were occasional lapses in attention to detail, which was a little disappointing. That said, I still think it’s a Facility with great value for money, and I’d stay again if the opportunity arises. Thank you.

    Very satisfied

    The food, Facility, and staff were all excellent. In particular, the attendant who looked after us was wonderful—she had a lovely smile, was cheerful and efficient, and timed the meals perfectly. My mother, who traveled with me, said “I’m so glad it was you,” and gave her a firm handshake when we said goodbye. It reminded me again that the best travel memories are created by the thoughtful care of outstanding staff. This is a Hotel I’d love to visit again. If I could mention just one thing: I would have preferred the large public bath to be a little cooler.

    We were truly able to relax!

    We chose this Room as a couple because we wanted to relax and take it easy. The open-air bath in the guest Room was wonderful—we could unwind while looking out at the ocean, watching the sunrise and the sky gradually darken at night. Meals were served in the Room as well, so we could enjoy dining together with an ocean view. It was a truly calming stay.

    Always updated

    I stay here a few times a year, and while many Hotels have seen their amenities and services decline recently, I was delighted to find that the amenities were even better than last time, and the mattress pad under the futon had been upgraded to a higher-quality one. The attendant who looked after us on this visit was also wonderful—always smiling and attentive to every detail. Thank you very much.

    温泉旅大好き家族。

    Everything is wonderful, not just the Onsen.

    We stayed as a family of three (all adults). First of all, all the staff were wonderful in their respective roles. They were efficient, and their smiles were truly pleasant. We are a family that loves travel and Onsen, and we have visited many Onsen, but I think the baths here are the best we’ve ever experienced! Not only the water, but also the views and Facility were outstanding, and our whole family felt completely relaxed. The meals were delicious both at breakfast and dinner, and we were very satisfied. My husband and I said we’d love to come again in autumn. Our trip to Awaji Island was so enjoyable thanks to everyone at the Hotel. Our goal is to visit again within this year. We look forward to seeing you then.

    Always satisfied every time!

    Once again, Sora no Niwa was wonderful! It helped me unwind from everyday fatigue, and I was able to relax at a leisurely pace. All the staff and attendants work very hard, and everyone is extremely courteous and kind. I would like to visit once more this year, in winter. I could really feel the thoughtful effort put into the menu so it never becomes repetitive—it’s truly excellent. Thank you very much. This time there were more small children than usual, and they were quite noisy in the lounge, which was a bit disappointing. The sound also carried into the Room more and more, so that was the only thing that concerned me.

    Wonderful!

    Every staff member we encountered throughout the Accommodation was very kind, and their smiles were wonderful. The female staff member who prepared our in-room meal was also exceptionally attentive and courteous, and my elderly father was truly grateful. The staff at the Onsen even served us kuromame tea and kindly reminded us to stay hydrated before bathing since it has been getting warmer. Overall, it was an Accommodation with outstanding hospitality. We would love to visit again.

    A highly satisfying Accommodation!

    Everyone in Kansai seems to know this Hotel! (I’m from Kanto) is what I’d heard by word of mouth. Apparently, the TV commercial is very famous. Everything was extremely satisfying—the Room, dinner served in the Room, the Onsen, and even the shop. Breakfast offered so many dishes we couldn’t finish them all, and even my picky family was completely satisfied and full. We would definitely like to visit again next year.

    Highly satisfied

    Overall, it was a very satisfying stay. The dishes were delicious and showed real creativity. They kindly prepared the ingredients in a way suitable for seniors, so my 92-year-old mother had an amazing appetite. However, as with all New Awaji Group properties, it’s a shame that the breakfast bread (for me personally) isn’t very good—or rather, there isn’t any bread I like. I’d love to see baguettes added to the lineup. In any case, this group is becoming our regular Accommodation. I’m also impressed by the doormen who make you feel truly welcome from the moment you arrive at the entrance. I’ll make another Reservation again soon.

    They were very kind to us.

    We stayed here for a family trip. This was our second visit. My mother requires nursing care, so we borrowed a wheelchair during our stay. Unfortunately, it rained, but all the staff welcomed us with umbrellas even though they got soaked, and they also pushed my mother in her wheelchair—I truly appreciated it. At the breakfast buffet as well, they kindly told us that we could change seats if needed, and I was touched by their thoughtfulness. I don’t know how many more times I’ll be able to take my mother on trips, but I’m sure I’ll bring her here again. The Ryokan and the staff were perfect!! We couldn’t go sightseeing because of the heavy rain, but our time at the Ryokan was so wonderful that I’m glad we came. It turned into a very satisfying trip. Thank you again.

    Celebrating my mother’s 88th birthday

    We stayed here to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday. When making the Reservation, we were able to request a yellow celebratory vest and a celebration cake, and both my mother and everyone celebrating with her had a wonderful day. We enjoyed in-Room dining; my mother seemed very pleased, and the staff member in charge served everything carefully. She was cheerful, which made our stay very comfortable. The meal was delicious and generous in portion—we were extremely satisfied. Also, thank you for the 88th-birthday gift from the Hotel. If I could mention just one thing that would make it even better, I would be happy if draft beer were available by the glass. The Room had a great view as well, and we were very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    Everything was wonderful.

    Both of our daughters are married now, so we visited as a couple’s trip. The entrance wasn’t very large, so at first I thought that was just how Hotel New Awaji was, but the service afterward, the guest room, the Facility, the Onsen, and dinner were all wonderful. Even paying a reasonable price, we were more than satisfied. The only disappointment was that there were many clouds and we couldn’t see the sunrise rising from the Onsen. Dinner was Japanese-Western fusion cuisine. The portions were ample, and every dish was high quality and truly delicious. In the evening I went for a run to Sumoto Castle; the view from Sumoto Castle was also excellent, and it was a different kind of enjoyment than going by car. The attendant kindly showed me the way as well, which really helped. We would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    Because it’s an Accommodation I truly love

    I stay at this Accommodation once or twice a year. This time, a young attendant took care of us. Perhaps she was overwhelmed with serving, but when clearing the meal, items like the chopstick sleeve were left on the table. It was disappointing not to receive the usual pleasant service. I also think the amenities should be improved, and unless drinks in the refrigerator are made complimentary as well, it may feel like you’re falling behind the times. The meals were delicious as always, and breakfast in particular never disappoints. Usually an attendant sees us off at check-out, but this time there was no send-off either, which felt a bit lonely. Because I love this Accommodation, I hope things will be improved next year and would like to visit again.

    The Onsen was great.

    This was our first stay on Awaji Island. We chose a higher-grade Room with a private open-air bath. The water temperature was just right. The Room was also very spacious and comfortable. Both breakfast and dinner were served in the Room. The food was delicious, but the portions were so generous that we couldn’t finish everything. They made rice balls from the sea bream rice for us, and we enjoyed them later as a late-night snack. The seasoning was light, which suited us perfectly, so it was truly delicious. Our in-room attendant was kind and attentive, making our stay very comfortable. The staff who welcomed us and the lobby staff were equally kind and attentive, with wonderful smiles. Since the sea is right in front of the property, it seems you can also go fishing. It looks like they can even cook the fish you catch.

    40th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

    We stayed here as a couple to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Hotel New Awaji is a well-known Accommodation in the Kansai area, and Villa Rakuen features a semi-open-air bath in every Room. Both dinner and breakfast are served in the Room, so for us—an older, tired couple—it was truly effortless and we were able to enjoy a luxurious, relaxing time. When we mentioned during casual conversation with our attendant on the day of arrival that we were here for our 40th anniversary, the Hotel kindly gave us a commemorative gift the next day. The entire Hotel staff are clearly well trained so that their hospitality comes through naturally, making guests feel they want to return. What especially stayed with me was our attendant’s greeting right after we arrived: “A connection has been made between New Awaji and you.”

    The Room, the Onsen, and the staff at the Facility all exceeded our expectations before our stay, and we were extremely satisfied. The ingredients, quality, and portions of the meals were excellent, and the dining area was a semi-private room that ensured privacy. The seasoning was also superb, and we enjoyed every dish.

    Satisfied

    This was my second stay. All of the large public baths were clean, well maintained, and had great views. However, there was a swallow’s nest at the terraced rice field bath, and I was a bit concerned about droppings falling into the tub. The meals were very delicious and I was completely satisfied. The attendant who looked after us was also very polite and pleasant. The Room was nice, but the bathroom fixtures felt a little dated. Still, I am very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    We visited during Golden Week. We really appreciated having both breakfast and dinner served in our Room. The meals were excellent, with fresh fish dishes and meat dishes, allowing us to fully enjoy the blessings of Awaji Island. The staff member in charge of our Room was very refined, which made our stay even better. One thing we noticed was that because the villa Room is on a middle level of the building, we could hear children’s footsteps from the floor above, which was disappointing. We wished it had been on an upper floor.

    Your First Visit to New Awaji

    I’ve stayed with the New Awaji Group about four times before, but this was my first time at the original New Awaji in Sumoto. The Villa Rakuen Room with an open-air Onsen bath was spacious and comfortable, and we could enjoy meals in the Room. I’ve used Hotels on the west side of Awaji Island and in Kagawa Prefecture, but the original is great as well. There are also connected group Hotels nearby, so I’ll stay around this area again next time.

    The staff in the guest rooms and dining area were great, but...

    The guestroom and dining staff were great, but it was disappointing that the cleaning staff (possibly foreign nationals?) we passed in the hallways didn’t acknowledge us at all, even when we walked right by them. Also, it’s a shame checkout isn’t until 11:00 a.m., as we could have relaxed a bit more after breakfast.

    Villa, Ocean Room

    My spouse and I, who enjoy traveling once every two or three months, are posting a Review for the first time in a while. I had known about this Hotel since childhood through TV commercials, so the name was well known to me. This was our first trip to Awaji Island, and we stayed for one night. The Room was spacious and thoroughly cleaned in every corner, and we were welcomed comfortably. The meals felt traditional, but we were very satisfied with the taste. The view from the Onsen was also outstanding, allowing us to relax—it made for a wonderful overnight stay. My wife and I have been talking about traveling again in autumn, so we look forward to visiting again. Next time, we plan to stay in the Star Room.
