    I had a Multiple Night Stay, and I was deeply impressed by the exceptional consideration given to us. The hospitality, meals, hot springs, room, facilities & amenities, souvenir shop, and parking staff's attentiveness... Compared to other notable Stays in Kanto, Hakone, Nikko, etc., there were no noticeable drawbacks. From start to finish, everything was flawless, and I am glad I chose Shinsen for my first visit to Aso and Takachiho Gorge. The shabu-shabu was among the top 3 beef shabu-shabu dishes of my life.

    It was excellent!

    Everything from the Room size, amenities, open-air bath, meals in the morning and evening, to the service was excellent. The Shuttle Service to the night kagura was also provided, and the hospitality was impeccable and impressive. The Takachiho beef was incredibly delicious. I definitely want to visit again someday.

    A traditional Ryokan with a venerable history located in Takachiho, where the gods dwell.

    Stayed for our 40th wedding anniversary. The room was on the second floor of the main building. It had one double bed, a living room, and a Japanese-style room. The bath was a cypress bath. It was wonderful to have the same person take care of us throughout our stay. They came to call us to meals in our room. There were also Vietnamese staff and a Taiwanese trainee. The proprietress frequently checked in on us and even took a photo of us when we left. We were surprised to see a calligraphy piece by Taiwanese fan Lee Teng-hui (Ri Touki) in the private dining room for dinner. The meals were carefully prepared and gentle on the body. Breakfast was served in a separate Japanese-style room. The service was impeccable. It is suitable for older guests, but the stairs might be a bit steep. Unfortunately, the bathroom and dressing area were narrow compared to the size of the room, a typical old construction style. In future renovations, it would be more attractive if the water area were expanded, even at the expense of the Japanese-style room, to allow for a more relaxing stay. Also, the toilet paper was set directly above the controller, making it difficult to operate. The shower was also a bit shabby, not fitting for a luxury Ryokan. These issues can be easily improved, so we hope they will be addressed.
