    Thank you very much.

    Everything was taken care of, and we truly appreciated your hospitality. Every dish was outstanding, and the timing of each course was perfect. In particular, after enjoying the Takachiho beef, the tempura that followed surprised me—I thought I was too full to eat it, but one bite changed my mind. It was wonderfully crisp, not greasy at all, and pleasantly light. It was the best tempura I’ve ever had. Our room attendant was from overseas, and there were moments when Japanese was a little hard to understand, but they did their very best to look after us. Thank you very much.

    We had a comfortable stay.

    We had a truly relaxing stay. We had planned our sightseeing itinerary in advance, and when we shared it with the staff, they adjusted our breakfast time, arranged taxis, and even prepared our Room to match our schedule. Thanks to that, we could return to the Room between outings to take a bath and change clothes—making it feel like we were relaxing at home. The person who looked after us interacted with us at just the right distance—always attentive without being intrusive—and respected our time. They quietly observed what we needed and responded naturally, which made us realize what genuine hospitality really is. The meals were also outstanding. With every dish, we could feel the care and thought put into preparing it for the guest. Everything was delicious, and we finished every bite. The tableware was charming as well—each piece unique—and beautifully paired with the food. The Room was the perfect size for two of us. Since this trip focused on sightseeing, we chose a Room with a hinoki bath rather than an open-air bath, and it was wonderfully soothing. Drink refills and towel replacements were handled thoroughly, and they even prepared sweet potatoes as a late-night snack—we enjoyed them very much. The message that came with them also felt warm and thoughtful. We were impressed by all the small touches as well—the Shuttle Service to night kagura performances, plus cushions and shoe bags thoughtfully provided. After seeing the CDs and books in the Room, we decided that next time we’d like to stay not only for sightseeing but also to spend an entire day relaxing in the Accommodation. Thank you for providing such a comfortable space and time. It was truly a wonderful Accommodation—one that makes us want to return right away. That said… I hope it doesn’t become too hard to get a Reservation (laugh).

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    My wife and I stayed here during our trip to Miyazaki, and we were very satisfied with the hospitality, which exceeded our expectations. My wife, who usually stays at fairly high-end Accommodations, rarely says this, but she praised it as one of her top 10 stays ever. We were able to relax and truly enjoyed our time here. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    Beyond expectations

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary, and it was a wonderful stay that far exceeded our expectations. All of the staff were smiling throughout and supported us wholeheartedly, which made our stay truly memorable. There were younger staff members as well as staff from overseas, and we could tell that everyone was very well trained. The Facility was comfortable, with thoughtful attention to even the smallest details. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, with care evident in every detail. The tableware was especially beautiful, making the experience enjoyable not only for the taste but also for the presentation. It became the best wedding anniversary. Thank you very much.

    This is a place you’ll want to come back to again and again.

    This is my fourth stay here this year. The food is great, the amenities are very convenient, and it still retains the traditional atmosphere of a hot spring ryokan. Dinner was delicious. Breakfast was also very plentiful.

    Simply wonderful!

    The warm hospitality of all the staff, everyone’s kind conversation and smiles, a pleasant Room kept impeccably clean down to every detail, a full cypress bath, and delicious meals that made me happy with every bite.     We could hear the beautiful song of a Japanese bush warbler!

    This was our first stay, on a couples’ trip. While there were a few minor points, overall we were satisfied. Thank you very much. With hopes for continued improvement, I’d like to share a few brief comments. - When we arrived at the parking lot, several male staff members assisted us. This may be part of your unique service, but as we were not used to it, it actually made us feel a bit nervous. - Although it was just the two of us, we were shown to a dining room suited for 7–8 people. Being alone in such a spacious room also felt slightly unfamiliar. - After check-in, we learned that the Onsen was not natural spring water, which was a little disappointing (due to my lack of research—my responsibility). That said, even if it wasn’t natural spring water, the bath itself was high quality above all else; and the garden view from the in-room bath was wonderful, so I could bathe in great comfort. I also took another bath the next morning; at that time, a Japanese bush warbler perched on an osmanthus tree and sang beautifully—it truly moved me. - The meals were generally delicious. Both the spiny lobster and Takachiho beef at dinner were excellent. The hyuganatsu jelly also suited my taste. For breakfast, the recommended tamago kake gohan (rice with egg) was outstanding; however, I think it would have been even better if the soup bowl had been wooden. Unfortunately, the rolled omelet did not suit my taste. - The staff member in charge of hospitality was wonderful. Right after check-in they prepared delicious matcha for us. - We appreciated that drinks in the refrigerator were complimentary. The sweet potato snack delivered at night was also delicious. Those are some small details I wanted to mention; overall we found great comfort in your wonderful location near Takachiho Gorge and your beautiful garden. We also felt your thoughtfulness when Okami saw us off. Thank you very much again.

    It was very comfortable.

    Stay at Takachiho Accommodation. Welcomed upon arrival by car, passing through a beautiful garden to the entrance. Check-in was done in the room with warm hospitality. Enjoyed matcha and sweets upon arrival. Went out for a boat reservation at Takachiho Gorge. Dinner was served in a lovely private room, offering a relaxing experience. Every dish was delicious, including domestic caviar and Takachiho beef fillet steak, which were truly exquisite. The pacing of the meal service was just right. Requested bath towels as pillow substitutes, which were kindly provided without hesitation. While having dinner, used towels in the room were replaced seamlessly with fresh ones—soft and fluffy towels that felt great to use! Breakfast was also delightful and satisfying in every way!

    It was an amazing experience, and I can't wait to visit again!

    From the moment you step into the Ryokan, your heart begins to unwind. The environment is built in harmony and tranquility, with guest rooms designed for ultimate relaxation and attention to detail. Thanks to underfloor heating, moving around indoors was extremely comfortable despite the cold weather. Both dinner and breakfast were exquisite. From lobster to beef and a selection of wines, everything was carefully prepared and served in a serene dining atmosphere. The staff are kind and always willing to assist. It was particularly memorable when they replaced our towels after using the private Onsen during dinner time. The Onsen in the guest room is exceptional, offering a relaxing bath while enjoying views of the garden. Time passed quickly as we enjoyed peaceful moments throughout our stay. From start to finish, it was an experience filled with joy. We look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you for such a wonderful time!

    It was excellent.

    The staff's attentive service made our stay very pleasant. The dinner, including caviar, Ise lobster sashimi, and Takachiho beef, was absolutely delicious. Breakfast offered a variety of small portions, which was perfect for us. We were especially impressed by the personalized touch with the chopsticks at dinner and the amenities like UCHINO pajamas and skincare products. It would have been nice to have an option for a samue outfit instead of just yukata during dinner. Thank you very much for your hospitality during our stay.

    It was excellent.

    The staff's hospitality was absolutely outstanding! The younger staff members were not only charming but also impressively professional in their work.     It was the best accommodation.

    I have stayed at various accommodations before, but this was the first time I experienced such thorough service. The replenishment of amenities like bath towels was done multiple times a day instead of just once, and the complimentary late-night snacks and sweets were incredibly abundant. They even suggested menu changes for meals during a multiple night stay, allowing us to choose—truly exceptional service. The room was clean, and although I expected some insect issues being deep in the mountains, I didn’t encounter any indoors and felt completely at ease. If I have the chance to visit again, I will definitely return!

    Completely satisfied

    The cleanliness of the room, the thoughtful presentation of meals, the comfort of the private bath, and the hospitality of the staff all provided a high level of satisfaction. This is an accommodation I would definitely like to visit again. As a Japanese person, I hope to cherish and preserve this ryokan culture.

    The service, room atmosphere, and meals were all excellent.

    The hospitality provided by the attendant was exceptional. Their demeanor in traditional kimono, choice of words, and polite service were truly impressive. I regret not being able to express my gratitude before leaving. The recommended chicken nanban was also incredibly delicious. The room was spacious and allowed for a relaxing stay. Of course, it was impeccably clean, making our time there very comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were extremely delicious. Dinner had a great balance, and the domestic caviar stood out with its perfect saltiness—a delightful start to the meal. Later, we learned from a local guide that only this ryokan and perhaps one other in Takachiho serve domestic caviar, making it quite rare. For breakfast, as we are used to buffet-style meals, we looked forward to the thoughtfully served dishes here. The morning meal was well-balanced and every dish from side items to rice was delightful. Although Takachiho is quite far away and not easy to visit frequently, this accommodation is definitely worth returning to again someday. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Thank you very much.

    Staying here was truly a wonderful experience. The hospitality was exceptional, allowing me to relax completely. I usually have trouble sleeping with a different pillow, but the well-prepared environment helped me sleep soundly through the night. The meals were all incredibly delicious, especially the rice!     The most luxurious R...

    The most luxurious Ryokan in Takachiho, with high standards in every aspect. The Facility could be improved by adding a mirror in the shower room of the bath area. The Room was spacious and comfortable, but having more trash bins would have been convenient. Communication with foreign staff was slightly challenging, which was a bit disappointing. Other than that, I was very satisfied.

    This is my second stay.

    This was my second stay, following last year. The meals are delicious, and I can feel the hospitality in every detail. The breeze is pleasant, and although the location is not very convenient for transportation, it’s an accommodation that makes me want to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Simply amazing.

    I have stayed at many famous ryokans before, but Shinsen was undoubtedly the best ryokan. The hospitality is top-notch. It is an accommodation I definitely want to visit again.

    There is nothing imp...

    There is nothing impressive. It was the worst cost-performance Ryokan I have ever stayed at. The Room and Facility are too small for the price. I was told it was a cypress bath, but it was just a wooden bath without the scent of cypress.

    The rates are premium.

    Each room is a standalone unit with a garden and an open-air bath. The rooms are not very spacious. We had high expectations for the meals, but they were standard dishes commonly served at any Ryokan, lacking uniqueness and failing to impress. The portions were also small. If asked whether I would stay again, my answer would be NO. The score significantly drops due to the meals.

    Excellent hospitality

    Everything was wonderful, and we are filled with gratitude for your heartfelt hospitality. During dinner, our grandchild fell asleep, and you kindly prepared a futon for us, which was a great help. Additionally, you provided a chair for my husband with leg issues during the Takachiho Kagura performance and even offered Shuttle Service, which was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!

I was deeply moved by the exceptionally attentive and courteous service and hospitality, which reminded me of the importance of such care that I had almost forgotten. I truly appreciate the thoughtful gestures and subtle attentions to detail that we might not have even noticed. On top of that, when I carelessly left my mobile phone behind after checking out and was in trouble, not only did you assist me over the phone, but you even went so far as to personally deliver it to my destination (perhaps you inferred it from your conversation with the Okami-san).     The staff are all reliable, and it is a good traditional Stays. The landlady also greeted us. The food was delicious, and we were really grateful to be taken to Takachiho Gorge on our way back. There is no large public bath as it is not an Onsen area. That's the only thing.

    Relaxing Room and delicious food. It was the best.

    It was my second visit in two years. The Room, Onsen, and food were excellent. Especially the food, with its rich dashi flavor and fried dishes, was outstanding. Personally, the volume of the roast steak was quite large, so I would have been even happier if it was a smaller portion with less fatty parts. Other than that, everything was perfectly delicious. It was the first time I truly enjoyed ozoni. The service was also courteous and made me happy. Since my wife is not fond of strong coffee, it would have been nice to have mild or drip coffee among the amenities. I hope to visit again.

    Exceeded expectations by far!

    To be honest, even though it was a long-established Ryokan in Kyushu, I didn't have high expectations, but it was truly wonderful. I stayed in the villa building, and the room was spacious and easy to use. The shower room had both a head shower and a hand shower, and it was equipped to detect the shower water temperature in advance. It was quite impressive. The amenities were BVLGARI, and the towels were from Imabari, with a sufficient number provided. There was also a turndown service, which is still not widely available in Ryokans, so I was delighted when I returned from Kagura. I had made a reservation for the Kagura in advance, and when I mentioned it at check-in, they provided a shuttle service and prepared chairs, cushions, and shoe storage for us. On the way back, the driver came inside the Kagura venue to collect the chairs and kindly informed us that he would be waiting downstairs. I believe true hospitality is when you receive the service you want without having to ask for it, and in that sense, all the staff were truly wonderful.

    I had a Multiple Night Stay, and I was deeply impressed by the exceptional consideration given to us. The hospitality, meals, hot springs, room, facilities & amenities, souvenir shop, and parking staff's attentiveness... Compared to other notable Stays in Kanto, Hakone, Nikko, etc., there were no noticeable drawbacks. From start to finish, everything was flawless, and I am glad I chose Shinsen for my first visit to Aso and Takachiho Gorge. The shabu-shabu was among the top 3 beef shabu-shabu dishes of my life.
