    Cozy and Comfortable Space

    Everything was excellent! Thank you so much!! - The round-trip shuttle service from Sendai Station was great (I could drink since I didn’t have to drive). - Having a fitness facility in the ryokan is amazing; it’s nice to exercise casually (shoe rentals available). - The open-air bath in the large public bath had three temperature options, allowing me to enjoy my preferred onsen temperature. - There is a private open-air bath, but it wasn’t very convenient as there’s no washing area. - From the appetizer to sashimi, everything was perfectly delicious!!! However, the grilled dish and hors d'oeuvres were somewhat bland; I think offering just one grilled dish would be better (the quality seemed lower after enjoying such great sashimi). - Unlimited drinks in the refrigerator were fantastic (sparkling wine included as a diamond benefit). - They also suggested walking courses, allowing for a relaxing yet active stay. It was such a wonderful accommodation that I’ll definitely visit again!

    We stayed here on a suddenly cold day and had a wonderful experience. We requested to celebrate a family occasion, and the staff kindly accommodated us, making our stay very pleasant.     I had a relaxing stay.

    I stayed for 2 nights. The overall design of the accommodation was elegant, allowing me to relax fully. The open-air bath was excellent. Both breakfast and dinner showcased the chef's hospitality, and the freshly cooked white rice was particularly exquisite. The staff were warm and welcoming with their genuine hospitality. Highly recommended accommodation. Thank you for your care during my stay.

    The snowy scenery is amazing!

    I had avoided traveling in midwinter due to traffic conditions, but I decided to make the trip because Chikusenso offers a Shuttle Service from Sendai Station. During my stay, it snowed, unexpectedly wrapping everything in a silver world, which stirred my travel emotions. The Room was a deluxe twin, so it was ordinary, but the open-air bath in the women's large bath was wonderful. I enjoyed a snow-view bath, and during meals, I savored delicious Sendai beef while gazing at the snow on the trees, experiencing an unparalleled moment. The staff with "romance gray" (an outdated term?) hair were warm and welcoming, and I felt they were indispensable. One regret was not being able to explore the vast grounds, and I hope to visit again in a different season.

    Disappointing Stay

    The Review was high, so I decided to use the Property, and the hardware aspect is excellent, as it has been certified by LHW. While many of the staff are full of hospitality, the restaurant was the only disappointment. I was looking forward to it, but it was the first time I had a stay that lingered even after returning home due to unpleasant incidents occurring daily. Below are the incidents that happened at the restaurant. 1. Although I received an apology from the person in charge on the morning of C/O, despite writing a comment at the time of Reservation and confirming over the phone, there was no allergy response. 2. The Pinot Noir from the free drink Plan on the first night was not tasty, and since the main dish on the second day was steak, I requested a glass of wine (Chilean/Cabernet Sauvignon) even if it was paid, but it was so deteriorated that it was noticeable just by the aroma. Is there no sommelier or alcohol expert on staff? When providing glass wine, they serve it without tasting and checking the deterioration status. This is unthinkable for a Property of this level. 3. Despite being a solo traveler, there was no consideration for seating during dinner. On the second night, even though it wasn't full, I was assigned a seat near a group of 5-6 people. It was the first time I had to leave my seat. 4. At a small luxury Hotel on a weekday that is not a busy period, with only two choices for meal times, they don't even know who (which room guest) is sitting where, and they speak to you in English from behind. 5. The wrong menu was placed at the seat, and it seemed to be the menu for the upgraded Plan, but the oldest person who spoke to me in English crossed out the menu name with a pen, saying this menu is not available today. The Japanese kaiseki was ordinary, and it might impress inbound guests, but there was no special feeling, and nothing was outstandingly delicious. Breakfast was better. Especially the tempura was surprising, as it was a platter like a tempura set meal (2 shrimps, sweet potato, maitake, whiting, etc.) rather than tempura of rare local ingredients. The wine level is low, and in the case of the free drink Plan, even if the main dish is meat, there is only Pinot Noir as a choice for red, so I cannot recommend the free drink Plan of the selectable Stays Plan to those who want to pair red wine with meat. I think the marriage of food and alcohol is very important, but I felt that this Property does not place emphasis on that point.

    A property where you can understand the reason for good reviews.

    I stayed for one night. [Location] It takes an hour by bus from Sendai Station, which is long, but it allowed for a quiet stay. It has the image of a hidden retreat deep in the forest. [Service] Most of the staff were experienced men. Men were more prominent than women. I was surprised by the high level of hospitality from everyone. The chef's dedication to dinner was amazing and wonderful. I enjoyed a lot of delicious food! As expected of a good Stays. There was a magician at the bar, and I saw magic for the first time. [Room Wear] I appreciated having two sets of room wear and yukata per person. Also, not having to bring towels was convenient. [Customer Base] The impression is that there are many older guests. It's calm and you can spend time quietly. It seems that overseas guests also use it! It seems to be 100% foreign-owned. [Facility] The door was a bit difficult to open and close. When I closed the door, the hallway sliding door? was shaking...! Be careful of static electricity as it happens every time! There are removal sheets posted in various places. [Extras] I thought women might be pleased if there were lotion, toner, and cleansing products in the room. (You have to go to the bathroom to do makeup in the morning) Also, since the private bath could lead to heat shock, having a heater would be more reassuring! The effects and benefits of the bath were listed in small print, so I thought it would be more enjoyable for everyone if they were displayed larger! Perhaps it was during cleaning, but after checking in, the container for the humidifier's water was left in the bathroom, and there was still water in the bucket. It seemed like there was supposed to be a coffee maker, but it wasn't there, so it would be appreciated if it could be prepared in advance! Given the price, I was a bit concerned about these small details. There is no shop, but since the portion sizes are large, I don't think you'll get hungry. I received a croissant and a red bean paste bread as a late-night snack after dinner. I couldn't finish them and took them home. The drinks in the refrigerator are free (2 bottles of water, beer, orange juice, oolong tea, etc.) Additional orders are charged. There are no convenience stores around, so I brought snacks, but I was too full to eat them. The souvenir shop had one traditional craft item and something like rice crackers for sale in the corner! They seem like good snacks. I want to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Perfect customer service

    This time, we stayed with three people including a child. We often stay at places where meals cost more than 30,000 to 40,000 yen per meal and accommodations cost more than 200,000 yen per night, but even compared to those, we were impressed by the warm hospitality. The staff's response to our child's needs due to our own mistakes and the delicious meals made us say we would like to stay again. We look forward to staying again.

    Thank you for your hospitality. It was my first stay in a while, but I truly had a comfortable time. The space, onsen, and meals were all excellent, but above all, thanks to the staff, it was a great way to end the year. I will visit again.

    Thank you for the wonderful time.

    The review was good, and there was a free shuttle service from the station to the ryokan, so I decided to stay here. It was truly the best. Since it was a weekday, there were few guests, and the bath was almost like a private one. Both the open-air bath and the indoor bath were perfect. The food was delicious, and the staff's service was impeccable. The only disappointment was the poor condition of the room key. I promised to revisit with the friend I went with. I would like to use it again on a weekday and enjoy the nearly private bath.

    I stayed in the Presidential Suite. The view from the magnificent Room, where you can feel the late autumn season, was wonderful. In the private open-air bath, the wind would blow fallen leaves into the Onsen, allowing me to directly feel the change of seasons, which was delightful. I would love to visit in each season: spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

    Used for a wedding anniversary.

    The atmosphere, service, and meals at the Stays were all very satisfying for both my wife and me. We were able to relax and enjoy the Onsen, savor delicious meals, and have a wonderful time. Also, the starry sky from the rooftop space on the 5th floor was amazing, and we were able to see many stars that we haven't seen in a long time, which is not possible in the city.

    I was completely satisfied with everything.

    It was a property I had always wanted to visit. We were provided with a shuttle service from Sendai Station, which took about an hour, and upon arrival, we were greeted by an experienced gentleman. I was overwhelmed from the start. This continued throughout the property, and I was even moved by the service, which maintained a perfect distance without being overbearing. All the dishes were delicious, although they might have been a bit too much for the elderly ladies. I was also impressed by the numerous wonderful dishes. It was a property worth traveling a long distance for, and I would like to visit again. Thank you for taking care of us.

    We stayed for 2 nights in 2 rooms. Everything was excellent – the ambiance, the Shuttle Service, the Onsen, the view, the meals, and the hospitality. It has been a long time since we felt this satisfied. The teppanyaki prepared by Chef N was beyond the concept of traditional teppanyaki, incorporating creative elements that made it exquisite. It was so delicious that even now, just thinking about it makes me hungry and eager to have it again. I highly recommend it. As for the service staff, I did notice that many of them were older, and I initially wondered how that would be. However, what I learned was that in this era, rather than simply increasing foreign staff or hiring Gen Z workers, having older gentlemen who work earnestly and diligently was incredibly impressive and admirable. In the midst of an aging society, employing refined senior staff in the service industry not only provides a sense of security but also demonstrates wisdom. It goes without saying that this approach felt very forward-thinking. Chikusenso, you are truly ahead of the curve. It was the best experience. Next time, I will bring my employees and family along! Thank you for two wonderful days.

    The best Property!

    I had a luxurious three days, feeling both my eyes and ears healed by the bamboo grove and the murmuring of the river within the vast grounds. The warm and attentive hospitality and service of the staff, the meals and tableware, the Room, and the bath were all truly wonderful. Especially, the staff's perfectly balanced hospitality was the best among all the Properties I have stayed at so far. As we used the Property for a gathering of siblings, including some over 90 years old, the steps in the large public bath and the height of the bath in the Cypress Suite were a bit inconvenient. However, overall, this was the best Property I have ever stayed at. I would love to visit again!

    Celebrating with my husband and daughter, reminiscing about my hometown.

    My husband celebrated his 90th birthday, and my daughter her 60th, making this year a special one for both of them. After visiting my husband's hometown and paying respects at the family temple, we enjoyed a scenic drive through the autumn foliage of Zao and spent a blissful time at the long-awaited Property "Chikusenso," relaxing in the Onsen and savoring delicious and luxurious meals. The staff were all kind, well-mannered, and impeccably trained, which truly reflected the excellence of their education.

    It exceeded expectations.

    I didn't research in detail beforehand, but I felt that both the hardware and software were of the highest quality. In particular, the staff, mainly composed of experienced middle-aged men, demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism, from their smart responses to their thoughtful attentiveness. If I were to take a more critical perspective, I might say that this could be a period where they are prioritizing customer satisfaction over profitability to build a loyal customer base. That said, I felt the value exceeded the price. I sincerely hope they can maintain this high standard for a long time to come.

    I had a relaxing time.

    We were looking for a calm Property where our family could escape from the daily grind, and we found Takesensou. Instead of choosing a nearby Onsen Property (like Hakone), we wanted to fully enjoy the travel experience, and it turned out to be exactly what we hoped for. Our family was able to refresh and relax together. The meals, Onsen, hospitality, and the cleanliness of the Room were all absolutely satisfying, allowing us to spend a leisurely time. The food and tableware were wonderful, but as a family with small appetites, we felt truly sorry for leaving some of the beautifully prepared dishes, which is our only regret. Our daughter, who is very particular about sweets, declared both the welcome sweets and the Room snacks to be "too delicious!" and enjoyed them all to herself. The bread we received as a late-night snack was also very tasty. We would love to visit again to heal our tired bodies.

    There is a Shuttle Service bus from Sendai Station.

    Zao offers a round-trip Shuttle Service from Sendai Station, which was very convenient. The Property was excellent, including the meals, the Room, and the staff's hospitality. It was delightful to be able to reserve a private bath for free. The large public bath, especially the open-air bath surrounded by trees, was wonderful. On Saturdays, we enjoyed wine and Zao cheese while listening to a piano performance, which was also a great experience. However, there are quite a few steps, so it might be challenging for those with significant mobility issues or wheelchair users. Highly recommended for those who want to relax and unwind.

    At the Property of Your Dreams

    I finally had the chance to stay at the long-awaited Chikusenso. From the warm welcome to the heartfelt farewell, I was deeply moved by the kind and attentive service. In today's increasingly digitalized society, the staff's genuine kindness, occasional humor, and authentic hospitality reminded me of the true essence of service. I was truly touched by the warmth of their hospitality. Not only did I feel healed, but it also inspired me to adopt such thoughtfulness and attitude in my own life. The Facility had some inconveniences due to steps, but I felt it aligned with the Property's concept of valuing both people and nature. However, the meals were too large in portion, which isn't very kind to my stomach at my age, as I'm mindful of my weight (laughs). Other than that, there were no issues at all. It was a Property I would love to visit again to recharge my energy whenever I feel down.

    The best in a long time

    I travel around Japan every month throughout the year, and this was the first top-class Stays I've visited in a while. The service, meals, and Facility were all first-class. I would like to visit again someday, perhaps during the autumn leaves season.

    It was a bit disappointing.

    Although there is a sense of aging, the hardware is decent, the onsen quality is good, and the bedding is clean, making it difficult to evaluate. I was looking forward to dinner due to the good reviews, but found the taste to be ordinary. Most of the staff are of a certain age, and as an elderly person myself, the serving during dinner and the atmosphere felt like a high-end nursing facility, which was a bit chilly. They are polite and hardworking, but we couldn't feel the extraordinary experience we seek in a trip, which was disappointing. The welcome sweets seemed cheap and unsophisticated for this class. At least, if they are packaged snacks, shouldn't there be one for each person? Breakfast seemed better compared to dinner. Overall, I was surprised by the staff, as aside from a slightly younger woman, it felt like a silver human resource dispatch, which left a strong impression of the hotel.

    Last time, I stayed with my mother and aunt, and we were very satisfied with the atmosphere and service of the Stays. This time, I stayed with my mother and four sisters. Everyone was very satisfied with the atmosphere of the Stays, the open-air Onsen, the charming family bath, the Room, the meals, and the service. They were talking about wanting to stay again.
