    Large Public Bath and Restrooms

Our trip to Onjuku, Chiba had to be canceled at the last minute due to a collapse on the Sotobo Line, so we were relieved to be able to secure a stay here! As expected, the meals were beautifully presented and of a very high standard—my second son, who runs a food and beverage business, was impressed as well. The kids’ dinner plate came in a wooden box styled like an elegant display shelf; since my grandchild is a girl, she felt like a princess and was absolutely delighted. Even though she usually eats small portions, she happily enjoyed her meal at a great pace, which made us very happy too. The service was also top-notch, and we were satisfied with everything. The scenery—the sound of the waves and the sky—and the Hotel’s location all met our expectations. I did wish there was a large public bath, but the private bath “Kaoru,” where my son and granddaughter could bathe together, may have been their last chance given that she is 8 years old—so it became a wonderful memory for both of them. If I had one request, I feel there are far fewer restrooms outside the Room compared with other hotels. It would be even better if there were restrooms on each floor in addition to those in the Rooms! Overall, it was an experience that naturally makes us want to return. Thank you very much.

    Long-cherished Kaoru

Whenever I visited Izu or Atami, I passed by this Hotel a few times. Each time, I thought it looked wonderful and wanted to stay here someday. This time, to celebrate my companion’s birthday, we finally stayed at Kaoru Hotel, which we had been hoping to visit. The welcome on arrival and the welcome drinks were truly lovely. The Room was also amazing—having an open-air bath, and being able to use the private baths made it a perfect one-night stay! Perhaps because it was during the Obon holiday period, it felt a bit pricey, but I believe it was well worth it. Thank you as well for helping with the birthday surprise. I would definitely like to stay again! It would have been nice if there were any discounts we could use next time.

    This Accommodation l...

This Accommodation let us fully enjoy both the sea and the Onsen. The sound of the waves heard from the tatami Room was truly, truly soothing—it was a Room that made us want to keep watching and listening forever, and to stay longer. From arrival to departure, every staff member was kind and attentive. We were able to enjoy the meals, drinks, and even late-night ramen. There wasn’t a single thing to complain about—this is a place we absolutely want to visit again. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

    Excellent.

From check-in to check-out, this Hotel was filled with exceptional hospitality. Below you is the sea, and the constant sound of the waves is truly soothing. Dinner comes with such a generous boat platter that you may wonder if you can finish it—naturally, the drinks go down easily. The Hotel does not have a large public bath, but it offers private open-air baths and an in-room Onsen bath, both with sweeping ocean views. Nearby there is a large roadside station with everything you could want—meals, souvenirs, and sightseeing cruises. (We went twice.) One concern: there were two or three large spiders on the ceiling of the room’s balcony. If those were taken care of, it would be perfect. Even so, it’s a Hotel I would like to visit again.

Truly oceanfront—no exaggeration. A highly recommended Hotel.

A Hotel that stands out along Izu’s familiar Route 135. It feels like it’s near the far end of Ito. About a 25-minute walk from Ito Station (I walked back). They also cover the taxi fare if you take a taxi, which is a great service for solo travelers who prefer public transportation. The building and Rooms show their age in places, but everything is impeccably clean. The single elevator was so slow and awkward that I still remember an elderly man getting his hand caught in it. The Room consists of a Japanese-style room with a double bed, a Western-style room with a sofa, and the highlight: an oceanfront open-air bath on the balcony. Some places advertise an oceanfront open-air bath but it isn’t an Onsen, or the angle ruins the view. Here, the view was perfect, and the Shigaraki-ware tub was substantial enough for two people—very satisfying. There’s also a button to add heated water and even a lid for the tub, so I imagine it can be enjoyed even in winter. The meals were somewhat disappointing: dried appetizers; seasoning that tasted like something pre-made you’ve had elsewhere; sashimi portions that were too small; grilled and fried items I wished were served hot enough to risk burning my mouth; and sea bass about “seigo” size with little fat. Having dessert provided in a take-home style so you can eat it in your Room felt like an excellent system for those who drink alcohol. Breakfast was also slightly dry, though the dried horse mackerel was served warmed, nicely fatty, and delicious. The staff’s hospitality was wonderful. They kept just the right distance while greeting properly—it felt very pleasant. That said, there was too much explanation: twice—at check-in and again when being shown to the Room—the scripted parts felt overly long. I found myself thinking they should just leave written instructions on the desk instead. Personally, my favorite part was the private sauna. Unlike private large baths that don’t require Reservation—where you can’t enter at your preferred time and things can feel tense—this one is paid-only, which made it much more enjoyable for me. JPY 3,000 per session (one hour) will probably divide opinions (mostly negative), but I used it once at sunset—and liked it so much that as soon as I stepped out of the sauna I went to make another Reservation for the next morning. You get to enjoy this Hotel’s signature oceanfront view all to yourself—the same scenery as their private large bath—while sitting in the sauna. Of course there’s also a cold plunge pool plus chairs and a table provided. While the food disappointed me somewhat, overall this is a very good Hotel—and one I’d like to visit again.

    Family Trip

I stayed here for the first time after reading the Accommodation reviews. The hospitality and service were excellent. The views were great, and there were various Facilities that kept things interesting, so I was able to fully enjoy my Hotel stay. The ramen at night was very delicious. I would like to stay here again.

    5-Month-Delayed Wedding Anniversary

I had made a Reservation for our 39th wedding anniversary in February, but I became unwell and had to Cancel the Reservation. When I let them know, they still prepared an anniversary plate for us, and the photo meant so much to me. The service was attentive down to the smallest details, and the food was absolutely delicious. The ocean view from the Room and the open-air bath was wonderful, and with great weather it was perfect.

    Relax with a welcome drink.

Within minutes of our arrival, we were served a welcome drink—and the beer was excellent. The sausages on the side, along with muffins and greens, were a thoughtful touch. The location is outstanding, and we were able to relax while gazing at the stars in the night sky and the ships floating on the sea from the open-air bath attached to our Room.

Mind Clear complete! I fully enjoyed an exceptional luxury solo stay.

“The moment I opened the door, I was already in a world of blue.” Those words describe it perfectly—Kaze no Kaori UMI in Izu boasts an unbeatable location. My mind, hardened by everyday hustle, slowly unraveled with the sea breeze and soothing hot springs… truly the ultimate adults-only hideaway. Let me share the highlights that made my solo stay so unforgettable. ■ Unobstructed panoramic views all to yourself The panorama of Sagami Bay from the open-air bath in my Room was simply breathtaking. As you sink into the tub, it feels as if you’re melting into the horizon. Soaking your feet while sipping sparkling wine and taking in that view is pure freedom—beyond words. ■ A dream all-inclusive stay with nothing to carry From the moment you check in, it’s nonstop hospitality. Free-flow drinks during bar time, a special late-night ramen service, and even doctor fish and massage chairs—all included at no extra charge. No need to think about your wallet or the time—just enjoy every moment at your own pace. ■ Cuisine for all five senses—and deep relaxation The dishes made with Izu’s abundant local ingredients were beautiful to look at and outstanding in flavor. At night, wrapped in gentle music, I rested comfortably and truly felt that “doing nothing” is the greatest luxury of all. At checkout, I honestly didn’t want to leave. This is an Accommodation I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who wants to pause their busy routine and treat themselves to the ultimate rewarding solo getaway.

An Accommodation Dedicated to Exceptional Hospitality

I’ve never seen hospitality taken this far—clearly shaped by listening closely to guests’ feedback and requests. From the service to the Room amenities, everything is incredibly thoughtful, even down to finding chilled beer glasses in the refrigerator. The late-night ramen comes in two flavors (salt and soy sauce), and I was amazed by the attention to detail of having both a hair dryer and a hair iron in the in-room washroom! (LOL)

    I was satisfied.

We stayed starting the day before the typhoon arrived, and since there were few guests, it was very quiet. All the staff were polite and kind. The private bath was spacious, clean, and had a great view. The typhoon lasted until morning, and I imagine it must have been difficult for the staff to come in, but their service was excellent. It’s an Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

Without using the private family bath

We booked because the property has private family baths, offers an all-inclusive plan, and had good Reviews. The meals and the drinks served during meals were great. However, the problem was the baths. There are two private family baths, and the rule is 30 minutes, but this time limit is not enforced. You can check availability from your Room, but when you go to the bath it is often occupied. There are chairs in front of the bath, and people wait there for it to become available. In the end, you have to wait there or you won’t get in. Because of this repeated situation, it overlapped with meal times, and we couldn’t use the bath at all. I’m fed up with such a careless system. Why isn’t there a proper time-slot system for each Room? And isn’t it uncomfortable to come out while someone is waiting right outside? I don’t understand. I will never go again.

We were satisfied with both the view and the food.

About the Room The ocean-facing Room had an absolutely wonderful, wide-open view of the sea. About the Meals The dinner portions were just right for us. If there had been any more, we wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the late-night noodles (lol). The vegetables and fish were fresh, and the unusual clear soy sauce (from Kumamoto) was a fun surprise. We were especially impressed that the staff member who served us was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and cooking methods. What Was Disappointing 1) Swallow droppings A swallow had built a nest in the corner of the left-side balcony, and the sandals placed underneath were turned white with droppings. It wasn’t pleasant. 2) In-room open-air bath There is an open-air bath on the right-side balcony with a fantastic open view toward the sea. However, because it is so open to the ocean-facing veranda, stepping over into a bathtub set at a higher position felt quite uncomfortable. Even a simple privacy screen would have helped. 3) You may not be able to use the private open-air baths Shouldn’t it be clearly stated that it can be difficult to get into the popular scenic-view open-air baths? It was very much first-come, first-served and extremely competitive. Even though we tried many times, we couldn’t use the scenic-view bath we were most looking forward to. The vacancy status can be checked in the system, but you can’t reserve it. 4) Unpleasant response from staff Since we couldn’t get into one of those scenic-view baths, we used only once an adjacent “Ne-yu” bath that happened to be available. The water was lukewarm, so when we called reception to ask how to adjust it, a female staff member came up and—while we stood there shivering with only bath towels wrapped around us—immediately put a thermometer into the tub and told us it was set to its designated temperature. She then continued explaining why she couldn’t adjust it further; only after we said again that we were shivering did she suggest extending the shower hose and adding hot water into the tub as a solution. If that was all that could be done, I felt she could have told us on our initial call without making us feel cold and embarrassed. Because she measured first before explaining anything else, it felt as if she was implying that we were at fault for not being satisfied with what they consider their standard temperature—and I started doubting how trustworthy their Review ratings for service really are. I’ve written quite a lot here; as shown in some photos I uploaded as well, this Ryokan has many wonderful points overall—but unfortunately it didn’t quite suit us, which is disappointing.

    It was a pleasant trip.

We stayed here to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. This Hotel left a great impression thanks to the staff’s attentive and kind service. We often check in late after sightseeing, but here I recommend checking in early, enjoying a welcome drink while taking in the view, and relaxing in the foot bath. The private open-air bath was crowded at certain times, but we were able to use it three times. Sunrise and sunset are especially recommended. The Room was clean and spacious, and the sound of the waves from outside was incredibly soothing. Dinner was a Japanese kaiseki course that paired well with alcohol. Since my wife has allergies, we informed them in advance, and they carefully explained the modified dishes. After dinner, they prepared a surprise cake for our 30th anniversary, took photos for us, and even gave us printed photos at checkout. It was a memorable trip that felt comfortable from start to finish. We will stay again next time.

The Hotel’s Facility, the staff’s hospitality, and the food were all excellent. The assorted sashimi platter we ordered separately at dinner was luxurious and generously portioned. If possible, I think we could have finished everything if there had been a stove for shabu-shabu, etc. Thank you for taking care of us. Thank you very much.

A Ryokan offering English support and accommodations for dietary intolerances, where you can enjoy a stress-free escape from everyday life.

Their attentive support from welcome to farewell was truly helpful. I also really appreciated them covering the taxi fare for me. Since one taxi driver insisted that a refund would only be possible with cash payment, I think clearer guidance on that point would have made it easier to get here without confusion. They were also very accommodating regarding foods I can’t handle, such as spicy dishes and lactose.

    More than satisfied beyond expectations

It was my first time in Izu in decades. Amid some anxiety, I’m glad I found this Hotel. The staff were all wonderful, and perhaps because there are only a few Rooms, the service was attentive throughout. The meals weren’t perfect, but they were delicious—especially the sashimi at dinner and the sea bream shabu-shabu at breakfast. In any case, this is the first time I’ve stayed at a Hotel with such great value for money.

I’d love to stay here again next year.

The ocean is right in front of you!! Since our Room faced east, we woke up early and fully enjoyed a bath while watching the sunrise. It was a little disappointing that the bathtub was for one person, so I couldn’t bathe with my wife, but... The meals were delicious too. We chose the Standard Plan, and we were satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. The dried fish was especially tasty—I’d love to come again.

    Because it’s described as luxurious.

Many staff members interact only at a minimal level. The meals are not appealing. The private reservable bath is good. The indoor bath smells musty and moldy. If you claim to be luxurious, you could go a bit further. With the rain and sea breeze, the car ended up covered in salt.

Everything you could possibly need is taken care of.

Four classmates and I stayed here. With the all-inclusive plan, we could fully enjoy ourselves without worrying about the cost of drinks. We also tried karaoke for the first time in ages, and it got so lively that we ended up extending our time since there happened to be no next Reservation. It’s an ideal Accommodation for anniversaries or reunion-style events. However, one issue: part of the Room smelled like cigarette smoke—possibly from the air conditioning or absorbed into the wallpaper—and that was unpleasant. We assumed it was fully booked, so we stayed as is, but it was a bit hard to tolerate.

Unfortunately, we were not blessed with clear weather.

Thank you for taking care of us. Last time it rained, and this time it was cloudy and rainy as well, but I was able to enjoy the footbath with my grandchild. My husband, who is recovering from illness, was also impressed by the baths, and he ate more than usual at dinner, which made me happy too. Now I understand why the top floor is so popular—everyone was constantly coming and going between taking a bath and grabbing juice or snacks (laugh). Since there were four of us, the trash can filled up quickly, so it would have been nice to have an extra plastic bag available. The baths can feel like a competition to get in, but being able to go empty-handed is the best! We could also eat the late-night ramen in our Room, and it tasted great. There was a notice posted in the elevator as well. Last time I wrote in my Review that things closed too early; maybe it wasn’t just me, but it seemed like this had been addressed. My husband walks slowly too, and without knowing anything about it he said right away, “This closes early.” Next time we’ll try again on the top floor—this time with our eldest daughter as well. Thank you very much.

    Perfect for an adults-only getaway!

This was my long-awaited trip to Izu and a stay at an Accommodation I had always wanted to visit, and I was finally able to go this time. We chose this Accommodation for an adults-only getaway to relax and fully enjoy the stay, with an open-air bath in the Room and kaiseki cuisine. The staff were also kind and helpful, always with a smile. A spring storm brought strong wind and rain, so we couldn’t enjoy the beautiful views, but we were very satisfied with both the Room and the meals. The ramen served during bar time was delicious, and we also tried our hand at senryu poetry and received a souvenir. I wrote a letter to my future self one year from now as well, making it a truly memorable trip. Next time, I hope to visit when the weather is nice.

    We had a relaxing stay.

Unfortunately, due to the weather, we couldn’t enjoy the view we had hoped for, but we were able to relax and take our time. The furnishings looked a bit dated, but everything was well cleaned and properly maintained. Amenities were well stocked. There was also a good variety of clothing available, which was appreciated. The private bath seemed very popular, so it was difficult to use. I wish there had been an option to make a Reservation. The open-air bath in the Room was meant for one person, but I would have been happier if it were a bit larger. We chose the standard meal plan, but it felt a little lacking. Even with the standard option, I would have liked it to feel more satisfying. With the all-inclusive plan, drinks were plentiful. During bar time it was full and we had to wait. Service after being seated was also slow, and unusually for me, I found myself getting a bit irritated. Since meals are always an important part of our stay, our overall impression ended up being somewhat underwhelming.

    Birthday Celebration

We stayed to celebrate his 60th birthday. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, but unfortunately it rained, so we relaxed at the Hotel. We appreciated the calm atmosphere overall, without any hustle and bustle. At dinner, we were truly grateful that you brought out the cake you had prepared even though we were past the scheduled time. We enjoyed it late at night, and afterward stayed up late while soaking in the private rooftop bath. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

I stayed here before and had such a wonderful time that I came back after a long while. Both MORI and Andar Resort were very comfortable, and if they were closer, I’d visit even more often. The meals were excellent as well. Unfortunately, the private Onsen was always in use whenever I checked, so I couldn’t get in. I’ll be back again.

This was my first stay, and the service was extremely courteous with thoughtful attention to detail. The food was wonderful—the oyster miso hot pot brought back fond memories, and the sashimi was very fresh! Everything was delicious, and we finished it all. There was also a wide selection of drinks. The late-night ramen and many other touches really showed a guest-first approach throughout. The spa treatment was also careful and very pleasant. If there is one disappointment, it’s that the open-air bath in the Room is small. Other than that, we were completely satisfied. I’ve added this place to my list of places I’d like to visit again, and I look forward to returning. This is an Accommodation I would recommend to friends as well.

The meals exceeded our expectations—this was a wonderful Accommodation.

My mother and I have been traveling together to many places, and this was our first time here. We chose it for the first of our two nights in Ito. When we arrived, the long, narrow building surprised us—it looked like an apartment complex—but there were so many things to enjoy for guests that time flew by. The staff were wonderful. Our Room also had an Onsen, and both the water quality and temperature were excellent. And the meals—truly outstanding. Dinner didn’t feature any particularly expensive ingredients, but everything was delicious, and once you tasted it you could tell the ingredients had been carefully selected. I was genuinely moved. Breakfast also came with exceptional hospitality. Above all, the dried horse mackerel—an astonishing top-tier quality. After visiting Kanazawa and Kyoto, we stayed at this Ryokan next and wondered how it would compare, but it became a fun and delicious trip that made Ito unforgettable. Thank you very much to everyone. We will visit again, and we’ll also come to your forest location as well.

    We had a wonderful time.

We stayed during my wife’s birthday month. The staff’s hospitality was wonderful, and we had an amazing time. In our top-floor Room, the complimentary alcohol, snacks, and Häagen-Dazs were truly plentiful. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. They also provided a birthday plate service and took photos for us. When we checked out the next day, we received the photos, which became a great memory of our trip. The late-night soba was excellent, and with the Plan that included free alcohol it was even better. The Room also had an open-air bath and a massage chair, so we could relax without worrying about others. It was especially nice to soak in the open-air bath in the morning while looking out at the sea. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    ONSENLOVE

    A highly hospitable accommodation!

This was our first stay, and it was an Accommodation that truly lived up to its high Reviews. While the building is undeniably old, we enjoyed it to the fullest from arrival until departure the next morning. Everything was provided, and we were very satisfied! For reference, I’d like to share just two points that stood out. Regarding the private bath with a reclining tub: when we used it after dinner, both my husband and I became itchy all over. Even if it is a circulation system, I think the condition of the tub should be checked regularly. The lighting in the in-room bath is far too dim. Since there is no washing area at the open-air bath in the guest room, we used it instead, but it was so dark that we disliked the gloomy atmosphere. Other than these two points, everything was perfect. The staff were very attentive, and you can tell it’s run by a small but highly capable team. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to this area. Thank you very much.
