    You did your best.

Cons - The food had a great reputation, but some dishes were served cold, which was disappointing. - The Facility visible from the window looked worn out, and it felt like they may not have the resources to address it. - The customer survey title “Dear Valued Guest” felt like an unusual phrasing for Japanese guests. Pros - The training of the international staff was excellent; they were friendly and wonderful. - The Room had iced water prepared, and the kettle was filled with hot water. - The Shuttle Service was flexible and accommodating, which I appreciated. This Hotel shows real determination—renovating an old Ryokan in a declining Hakone-Yumoto area and doing its best. It isn’t perfect, but their hospitality definitely came through. It’s not particularly great value for money, but if I stay in Yumoto again, I would consider it as one of the options.

    A pleasant Accommodation.

No matter how many times we visit, this Accommodation is always a pleasure. The meals are delicious, and the open-air bath in the Room is spacious, allowing us to relax at our leisure. We would love to stay again.

    It was wonderful.

The staff’s attentive care was exceptional above all else. We truly appreciated how kindly they supported our elderly parents. As reputed, each dish was delicious, and we were able to enjoy the season with both our eyes and our palate. Thank you very much.

    Accommodation with an Open-Air Bath

The meals were excellent. Since a pregnant guest was with us, we asked if raw items could be replaced with other dishes, and you kindly accommodated our request—thank you. However, the Room shower would not get hot, so we were unable to take a shower. That was the only disappointment.

It was a very lovely Room.

We stayed in a Room with a private Onsen. It was a good size and comfortable to spend time in. The meals weren’t quite to my taste, but the Room was great.

Above all, it’s the dining experience.

This was our first time staying here. I visited with my wife and her parents. Since there were many things we couldn’t tell from the website, we were a bit worried, but from the moment we arrived, everything—from the staff’s service to the Room—had a wonderful atmosphere. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. The view was great, and the bath was generously sized, so we were very satisfied. Above all, the meals were excellent. It was creative Japanese cuisine, full of the chef’s ideas. It felt like a bit more food than usual, but thanks to the beautiful presentation and changing flavors, we finished everything. This time felt like an in-between season. Next time, I’d love to visit during autumn foliage season. A highly recommended Accommodation.

Reused for the first time in about 10 years.

We wanted to enjoy the open-air bath in our Room, and since we had more time, we stayed again as a family for the first time in 10 years. We were satisfied with the bath, the meals, and the service. Although Yumoto town was crowded during the holiday period, the Accommodation was quiet, so we could relax in peace. The Room and Facilities also seemed newer than before. We would like to stay again someday.

    It was very good.

It was my first stay in a while. Thank you for upgrading our Room. The Room was clean and well maintained, and we had a comfortable stay. However, the sliding door in the Room and the closet door were slightly misaligned, which bothered me a little. Both dinner and breakfast were generous portions, but the seasoning wasn’t too strong, so we were able to finish everything. We enjoyed the meals very much.

    Quiet Accommodation

We were able to relax and enjoy a peaceful stay as a family. In addition to the large public bath, we also used the private open-air bath; it had a great view, and we could soak comfortably while feeling the breeze. The meals were delicious, and we were surprised by how generous the children’s menu for our grandchild was.

    The meals were absolutely delicious.

I didn’t have much time before making the Reservation, so I couldn’t review all the details, but the service was excellent and the staff were very kind. It was a very satisfying trip. My Reservation was for a Plan with an open-air bath and two meals included. The meals were kaiseki-style, with an impressive number of dishes. The ingredients were fresh and everything was delicious. That said, because there were so many dishes, each portion wasn’t very large—but I still got full partway through. I felt that about 2/3 of the meal would be just right for men, and about 1/2 for women. I ended up leaving a little food behind and felt bad about it. The Room had an open-air bath; the view was great, and the open-air bath on the spacious balcony was extremely comfortable. The Room itself was also fairly large, so I could relax comfortably. The only disappointing points were these three: - There was no charging cable in the Room (maybe one could be borrowed if requested at the front desk?). - There was no ice pail (ice). When I contacted the front desk, I was told I could get ice on the 2nd floor of another building (my Room was on the 9th floor), so I went to pick it up. Since it’s quite a distance to go again after running out of ice—especially after having a few drinks—I wish there had been an ice pail in the Room or an ice machine nearby. - There is no EV charger in the parking lot. Even a 200V outlet would allow charging, so it was disappointing that such a new Accommodation doesn’t have any charging facilities. That’s all.

Improvements to the bathroom are needed.

It’s disappointing that there is no shower chair for guests with disabilities in the bath area. Also, it would be helpful to place a small chair by the open-air bath for sitting.

    I relaxed in the Onsen.

It was very quiet, and I was able to relax and take my time. The Onsen, the large public bath, and the open-air bath in the Room all warmed me up, left my skin smooth, and soothed my everyday fatigue. The meals were also delicious. I felt the staff were highly professional as well. I would like to visit again. Thank you for your hospitality.

The meals are highly satisfying in both quantity and quality.

I stayed during the January holiday. Although there is a slope from Hakone-Yumoto Station, it is within walking distance. Check-in at 3 PM was smooth, and I was guided to my room. I stayed in a room with an open-air bath on the 7th floor of Kaze no Kan. The onsen was available at all times, and I could enjoy the view from the room, making it a very satisfying stay. The meals were plentiful, allowing you to enjoy both meat and fish at the same time, so even men with big appetites will feel full. Both the dining area and large public bath are located in Kaze no Kan building, making it convenient to move around. I did not notice any odors inside the facility as mentioned in other reviews. The staff were all polite and attentive, allowing me to spend a pleasant time. It’s close to the station with a quiet atmosphere—overall very satisfying!

The points that met expectations were the customer service and meals (breakfast and dinner), while the Onsen and quality of amenities did not.

The sky terrace and the bath are excellent.

The view from the Sky Terrace and the open-air bath on the hill were very relaxing. The meals had just the right portions, and the modern tableware was beautiful. The building felt a bit old, so the interior was generally cold. (The hallways were chilly when going to and from the bath or dining area.) Personally, I was also concerned about some odors. The room was spacious with tatami flooring and beds, making it comfortable to use. I considered walking from Hakone-Yumoto Station but ended up using the shuttle service. With some slopes along the way, it was convenient and smooth.

I had a relaxing time. I would love to visit again.

Thank you for allowing me to spend some time at the entrance as I arrived a little earlier than the 3 PM check-in. Since it was a December stay, I was comforted by the Christmas decorations. Both the room bath and the large public bath were kept very clean. The meals were visually delightful and tasted delicious as well. Although there is a shuttle service available, I chose not to use it since it's only about a 7-minute walk to Hakone-Yumoto Station, which made for a pleasant stroll. I look forward to staying here again!

    Very disappointing

The meals were delicious, and the service from the foreign staff was pleasant. However, I was very disappointed that the bed frame seemed to be broken, making creaking (or cracking) noises every time I turned over, which made it impossible to sleep. It felt like something that should have been noticed during bed-making. While I understand it might have been a busy season and reducing turnover rates could be challenging, I can't help but think some measures could have been taken beforehand. Perhaps it was just bad luck, but my goal of relieving daily fatigue wasn't achieved—instead, I returned home even more tired. I had been looking forward to enjoying a Room with an open-air bath, so this was truly disappointing.

It was a very lovely accommodation.

This was our first trip as a couple, and we carefully chose Ryokan Aura Tachibana. I had some concerns after reading reviews about the hallway smell, fixed shower in the room, and towels. - The smell in the hallway didn’t bother me at all. It just felt like a typical ryokan scent. In older buildings with onsen facilities, stronger smells are common. After reading the reviews, I paid attention to it but only noticed a faint scent that wasn’t bothersome. - The room’s shower had been updated with a movable Japanese-style one, so there were no issues. The shower room and bath were clean. - As for the towels, I did notice some fraying at the edges. However, they were otherwise clean and didn’t have any unpleasant odors even when wet. While it didn’t bother me much, I think replacing them with newer ones might be better for some guests. Regarding meals, we informed the ryokan in advance that we are light eaters and requested smaller portions if possible. However, we were told on the day that it wouldn’t be feasible. We didn’t mind and wondered if we could finish everything. The dinner was absolutely delicious. I couldn’t finish my portion, so my partner helped me out, and he managed to eat everything. Unlike some ryokans that serve rice in large containers, they kindly asked about the rice portion, which we appreciated. Breakfast, however, was quite filling for us. While it was very tasty, we couldn’t finish it all and felt bad about leaving some behind. For light eaters like us, this was our experience, but those with bigger appetites might find the portions slightly small—just a guess. As for the baths, the private bath in our room was so wonderful that I used it three times! (laughs) We also visited the public bath and had it all to ourselves, which felt very luxurious. However, for those staying in the “Kaze no Kan” rooms, the public bath might not feel necessary since the private bath in the room is so exceptional. The room’s bath is on a higher floor, offering a more relaxing atmosphere compared to the public bath, which doesn’t have much of a view. There’s so much more I’d like to share, but I’ll stop here due to space constraints (laughs). In conclusion, it was a very satisfying trip. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Unfortunately.

This ryokan with an open-air bath on the top floor, including dinner, breakfast, and wine, caught our attention during our accommodation search. We were concerned about some reviews but decided to book after confirming the renovations through photos. Unfortunately, the reviews turned out to be accurate. The toilet in the room was narrow and felt uncomfortable. The view was obstructed by railings and could only be seen clearly when standing close to them—perhaps due to the presence of the open-air bath? Some areas like connecting corridors seemed to have their smells masked by aroma or air conditioning. However, in hallways and elevators we used, the odor was so strong that we had to cover our noses with handkerchiefs. At dinner time, there was a noticeable restroom-like smell near the dining area entrance which dampened our mood despite enjoying a luxurious meal. Although breakfast was included, walking through hallways with strong odors made it difficult for us; we ended up checking out without eating breakfast. Even considering factors like this year's intense heat or high humidity after rain—and possibly being more sensitive than others—the consistent mention of "odor" in reviews matched our experience exactly and left us disappointed. That said, given this price range along with staff's dedicated hospitality and excellent meals, it might still be worth considering for some guests.

I don't want to stay here again.

The building's age and unique smell were noticeable, and the cleaning was disappointing as dust could be seen on the ventilation fans and sashes in the Room and public bath. The public bath had dim lighting, creating a slightly eerie atmosphere; mirrors were foggy, making it hard to see one's face, and wooden chairs felt slimy, lacking cleanliness. Both dinner and breakfast did not meet expectations for traditional Japanese cuisine in taste or presentation. While the staff were hardworking and provided polite service, which left a good impression, the thin futons and pillows caused body aches by morning, preventing adequate rest. Additionally, we received an unexpected call at night asking about "whether fluorescent lights had burned out," which was surprising; even after asking for clarification on this matter, explanations remained vague and left us uneasy. Our Room being located near the elevator meant constant noise from its operation ("ding"), making it difficult to relax. Overall, while we visited hoping to refresh ourselves, we ended up feeling more fatigued instead; unfortunately, a return visit seems unlikely.

    We stayed as a family.

The building is a bit old as it was originally a forest lodge, but the room was spacious and clean. We had both dinner and breakfast, and the breakfast was particularly satisfying. Dinner might not be enough for men or growing children, as it consisted of many soup-based dishes. The onsen water was smooth with no odor due to added water; however, it is not sourced directly from the spring, which might be something to consider. Overall, it was a nice accommodation for a relaxing family trip.

It was an accommodation full of love.

I stayed here on short notice for the same day. This accommodation offers great value with both dinner and breakfast included. The building itself is old, depending on the wing, but the tatami was clean, giving a true Ryokan experience. The bath facilities, including an open-air bath and sauna, were satisfying. Above all, the staff's warm hospitality was evident from their kind service to their heartfelt farewell. Thank you very much!

    Please try a little harder.

The view from the room's balcony was beautiful and refreshing. The meals were hearty and delicious. However, there were several disappointing points. For example, more attention could be given to the scent inside the facility, the foot mat in the room's washroom was worn out and lacked cleanliness, there was no chair in front of the sink which made it tiring to stand while drying hair or applying makeup, and the sofa in the room had no cushions which caused back pain. I hope for improvements.

Although it was unfortunately raining, we were greeted with umbrellas. The room was spacious and quiet, allowing us to relax comfortably. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious sashimi platter for dinner and the breakfast as well. It would have been better if the temperature of the large public bath was a bit hotter.

    Onsen is relaxing.

The service remains disappointing as always. The meals do not suit the senior class and have been adjusted for international guests. I will not stay again, even if just for the bath. Disappointing!

The Japanese staff are very friendly and helpful.

The requested arrangements were handled as discussed in advance. At checkout, having a Japanese staff member explain the breakdown of charges felt more accurate. The air conditioning did not reach an ideal temperature, and adjusting the shower temperature was challenging; fixed types might need improvement. The food was very delicious, but the rolled omelet and dessert at breakfast could be improved. A spoon seemed necessary for the yuba dish. While there were some concerns leading to a critical overall score, this is still one of the accommodations I would consider staying at again. Thank you very much!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

We decided to go at the last minute and used a last-minute discount. My family went directly, while I took the Shinkansen from Tokyo after work. The room had an Onsen, the meals were very delicious, and the breakfast was especially outstanding. Everything was clean, and the service was excellent.
