The views, hospitality, and meals are wonderful!

I made a Reservation for a 7th-floor Room with an open-air bath and stayed here. The view from the lobby was outstanding, and the welcome drink there—along with the sake tasting available until 6:00 p.m. and the sweets and coffee service until 9:00 p.m.—was wonderful. That said, the elevator was uncomfortably humid, which was truly disappointing for a Facility. The Room itself was very spacious, comfortable, and had a great view, but the hallway in the Room, the changing area, and the restroom were all extremely humid. Since it was summer and already very hot—and because the open-air bath is not an Onsen—I only used it once in the morning for a quick footbath. In that case, a lower-floor Room with a view bath might have been enough. On the other hand, the private open-air bath was excellent! The changing area felt like a small lounge space and even had air conditioning. Although it’s limited to 45 minutes, our family could relax and enjoy it. The meals were also delicious—especially dinner, which fully satisfied both in taste and portion size! We had an all-meat course that’s rare for a seaside Ryokan, and every dish was fantastic. I loved being able to enjoy plenty of meat along with how delicious each item was—it exceeded my expectations in a great way. During dinner they provided turndown service and left items like steam warming eye masks by our pillows, which felt like such thoughtful hospitality. Since we checked out one hour later than others, there was no send-off at all—it felt surprisingly simple—but we had lots of luggage, so it actually worked out well because we could get into our car without rushing. It’s only about 1 hour 30 minutes from Kobe, yet much more reasonably priced than Arima Onsen or Awaji Island—highly recommended!

    This was my second stay.

My father loved this Accommodation so much during our previous stay that we came back again. Everyone on the staff was so thoughtful, and the food in particular was delicious. We could really feel your hospitality. Even the tableware became part of our conversation, and my father’s favorite—pike conger—was especially tasty. Even after we got home, he kept saying, “It was delicious.” The portions were generous, so it may have been a bit too much for seniors. I felt bad leaving some behind. At night, I soaked in the ceramic tub and relaxed while gazing at the stars—it was truly healing time. We will definitely visit again. Thank you very much.

No accommodations for guests with allergies.

My wife is allergic to a specific ingredient (raw shrimp), and as usual we informed the Accommodation in advance. However, this Accommodation offered no alternative for guests with allergies and simply removed one dish. We have stayed at many Accommodations, but this was the first time we experienced this, so I was honestly surprised. I understand that you get what you pay for, but I’m not sure whether this reflects the management company’s policy or an on-site decision; either way, it was disappointing, especially given how hard the staff were working.

    It was my first stay.

We stayed here with my elderly parents. Thank you for your thoughtful support in making it easy for my mother, who has difficulty walking, to get around from the parking lot to our Room and to the dining area. All the staff were kind, and we had a comfortable stay. The food was delicious, and the sashimi was outstanding. The meat was also tender, and even my parents—who rarely do—ate a lot. I also enjoyed playing the retro video games again for the first time in a while and got really into it (lol). We would definitely love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    This was my first st...

This was my first stay. Although it was raining, the view over the Seto Inland Sea was wonderful. With the IKYU benefit, I was able to use the private open-air bath free of charge, so I made a Reservation after arriving. However, I had to get wet in the rain on the way there (I only noticed there were umbrellas available for loan on my way back), and because the washing area is exposed to the rain, I couldn’t relax even after changing and going in. If I had known about this layout beforehand, I would have chosen not to use the private open-air bath. I would have appreciated being informed in advance that there is no roof over the washing area and that umbrellas are available along the way. Also, on my departure day you provided a Shuttle Service by wagon to Ako Castle, but it was disappointing that there wasn’t even a brief greeting. I understand it may have been Golden Week and perhaps staff who do not usually handle guest service were assisting, but overall this stay involved several disappointments. I did appreciate the complimentary drinks service in the lounge, and the meals were delicious. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Finally

I have stayed at other Accommodations in the group many times, but this was my first time here. The bath was wonderful and I really enjoyed it, and it was great to be able to spend time exactly as I wanted without worrying about the clock. There was a misunderstanding on my part at check-in, but thank you for handling it so kindly.

Come and see the sunset in Ako...

Whenever I visit Ako, I always choose Kirara Shokichi. It’s simply very comfortable. The weather wasn’t great this time, so I couldn’t see the sunset, but I was able to relax and take my time. Thank you very much.

    My expectations were too high.

On April 11, my spouse and I stayed in a top-floor corner Room with an open-air bath. We love Accommodations with open-air baths and travel to many places. What was good: - Although the person in charge was young, they were very kind. - The oyster kaiseki dinner at night was even more delicious than expected. - We were happy that the young staff member who took our photo at the end and saw us off did so with a smile. What was disappointing: - We couldn’t really feel the advantages of a corner Room. - The toilet had an unpleasant odor. - Parts of the open-air bath area, such as the sauna and ceramic tub bath, were out of order, which made it feel even older. - The changing room was small. - Breakfast was average. - The young staff member handling souvenirs and checkout seemed completely unfriendly and left a bad impression. Overall, I think we may have expected too much, but at this price point we don’t think we would return.

The staff member from Myanmar provided attentive service, making our trip wonderful.

The oyster dishes, the Room, and the hospitality were all excellent.

The attendant who took care of us was refreshingly sincere, and we could truly feel their strong spirit of hospitality—it was very comfortable. Thank you very much. This was our first time staying in a Room with an open-air bath, and it was amazing to be able to see the sunrise from the bath. Everything was thoughtfully arranged with great attention to detail, and next time we’d like to relax and enjoy a Multiple Night Stay. We were looking forward to the oyster dishes, and every dish exceeded our expectations—we enjoyed them thoroughly. We were worried because oysters are scarce this year, but we were able to have plenty and were very satisfied. We also went to the oyster okonomiyaki restaurant that the attendant recommended. It was crowded, but it was well worth the wait. We’ll definitely stay again!

    Mostly satisfied

This was our return visit less than six months after last September! Even at New Year’s, our family of five can’t always all get together—but when someone says, “Let’s go to Shokichi!” everyone shows up. Because the Ryokan is so comfortable, we always arrive right after check-in time. The view from the Room is wonderful, and then we relax in the Onsen. In the lobby, we enjoy sake and snacks, and the conversation really flows. The dishes are served at just the right pace, and everything tastes amazing—we kept saying “So good!” with every bite. As an aside: first we visited Ako Marine Science Museum (admission 200 yen), then did the free salt-making experience. We sprinkled that salt on an Onsen egg made using the Ryokan’s equipment—perfect with the sake mentioned earlier! The eggs are also sold at the Ryokan. Thanks to all the staff, we were able to spend our time there feeling truly warm and relaxed. We’re very grateful! But there is one thing I regret after coming to Shokichi: I wish we’d discovered it sooner! (Am I Hiroshi Abe or what!)

    Private Bath

This time, we used the private bath. We had a wonderful and relaxing time with the night view and the sound of waves as our background music. The next morning, although we had an early departure and couldn't secure a taxi reservation, the Hotel kindly offered to take us to the station. Thank you very much!

    Had a comfortable stay!

Stayed in a 10-tatami Room under a limited-date Plan. At the lounge, I enjoyed four types of Japanese sake while admiring the stunning Seto Inland Sea view. The private open-air bath offered an incredible sunset view, making me wish to stay longer. As a Diamond Member benefit, I could use it for free from 17:00 for 45 minutes—highly recommended! Dinner featured delicious hamo shabu broth with an exceptional taste. During the meal, the young male staff member provided delightful conversation that made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Many thanks to him for his excellent service!

    Thank you for your patronage!

This is my 4th or 5th stay here. I have stayed at other Ryokans in this Onsen town, but this one is definitely the best. Depending on the grade you choose, it is reasonably priced for ordinary people. If I may add, staying here in winter can be a bit chilly when walking to the Onsen.

The staff are mostly young and efficient. The sake tasting and coffee service in the lounge were delightful. The open-air bath on the third basement floor had many tubs, making it enjoyable. I also appreciated the massage chair in the room. The meals, centered around seafood, were satisfying. Great value for money—highly recommended accommodation!

    Satisfied with the Anago Feast

Stayed with the Anago-focused Plan, and it felt like I ate a lifetime's worth of Anago from start to finish. The staff were foreign, which was surprising at first, but I got used to it quickly and it wasn't an issue. The baths, especially the open-air ones, were numerous and offered a stunning view of the ocean.

    A very lovely accommodation

This was my first visit to Ako. I felt a bit shy but happy to be warmly welcomed by multiple staff members. Upon arrival, a welcome drink was prepared on the lobby table, which was a lovely gesture. The bath was amazing as well. The infinity design gave an open feeling, as if I were in the sea. Since it was still bright outside, I could see seagulls flying, which made for a spectacular view. The food not only looked beautiful but also tasted incredible. The dishes were stunning and caught my eye immediately. Each piece had unique shapes or patterns that I had never seen before, and they differed from one another—making each one enjoyable to admire individually. It seems like you use an impressive variety of ceramics! Beyond the meals, ceramics were displayed throughout the facility too, which delighted me as someone who loves pottery!

    Dinner is absolutely delicious!

I stayed here for the first time, looking forward to the ocean view and delicious seafood. From the lobby of this hotel located on a hill, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the ocean—truly an ocean view! However, I was a bit disappointed with the view from my room as the roof of another building partially obstructed it. The building itself shows its age, and you can feel it in areas like plumbing and air conditioning. For a perfect ocean view from your room, I recommend choosing a different room. What stood out about this accommodation were the food and baths! The carefully prepared seafood dishes were excellent, with various à la carte options available. (Personally, I loved the charcoal-grilled conger eel—it was exquisite!) The baths alternate between men and women but feature an open-air bath with breathtaking views. Overall, it’s a great accommodation that I would recommend to others.

    Accommodation with the Best Hospitality

It was my first time staying, and I was deeply impressed by the staff's thoughtful hospitality. The room and facilities were impeccably clean, allowing for a very comfortable stay. The meals were plentiful and satisfying, with each dish carefully prepared. The bath was excellent, making it an accommodation I would love to visit again.

This was my first time using it.

This was my first time staying here. While I have no particular comments about the bath, food, or service, the rattling of the room's sash was severe, making it difficult to sleep throughout the night. I strongly recommend prompt repairs.

    Comfortable Stay

This was my first visit. The Facility is old but clean, and the standard Japanese-style room was comfortable. The meals, featuring fresh seafood, were delicious. I especially enjoyed the open-air bath. The view from the guest room and lobby was stunning, with a beautiful view of the Seto Inland Sea. The sunset was also breathtaking. I enjoyed exploring around the Hotel (Kirakira Slope ~ Misaki Coast Promenade ~ Iwatsuhime Shrine). It was my first trip to the Ako area, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Hotel, bath, meals, and sightseeing. Thank you very much!

    It was just right.

Unpretentious and not overly luxurious, yet every detail was thoughtfully attended to. It's the perfect distance from Osaka to escape daily life. I spent hours just gazing at the sea. I would love to stay here again.

    The meals are incredibly delicious.

This was an accommodation I had been curious about for a long time. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were more elaborate and tastier compared to the neighboring Gin◯so. (The sashimi and sea bream ramen were exceptional. The tofu in the morning was also delightful.) I chose a traditional Japanese-style room this time, which had a calm atmosphere and was very pleasant. The private onsen was incredibly close to the sea, with great water quality, making it highly satisfying. All the staff members were courteous, and I would love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    Room with Open-Air Bath

Rooms with open-air baths are limited, so it was difficult to make a Reservation, and I ended up booking far in advance. Perhaps because of that, my expectations were too high. The view was great, and the private bath was excellent. Oysters seem to be famous here, but unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy them as I'm not fond of oysters.

Highly recommended for its exceptional quality!

A charming Ryokan with a warm atmosphere, featuring thoughtful touches of hospitality such as delicious snacks, soft drinks, a variety of fun chairs, books, a stereo with great music, and more. The female staff member who attended to our room and meals had a wonderful smile and was incredibly kind and gentle in her demeanor. Her service truly enhanced the travel experience and made us very happy. The cuisine was absolutely delicious with generous portions and beautifully presented—simply outstanding. The Onsen utilized its location perfectly to offer breathtaking ocean views. Among all the seaside Onsen facilities I’ve visited so far, this one stands out for its immersive design—it was truly stunning. During my previous trip to Ako Onsen, I stayed at a different hotel; however, next time I will undoubtedly choose this Ryokan! It offers unbeatable value for money overall. The experience was so moving that I immediately shared it with fellow travel enthusiasts who have already decided they must visit!

The sea is right in ...

The sea is right in front, with lovely walking paths around, and the meals were delicious and satisfying. However, I was looking forward to watching the sunset while soaking in the Onsen, but it was disappointing that the view was blocked by a fence. I think the sunset looks more beautiful from the walking path.

    This was my second time.

The first experience was excellent, but this time it felt different—perhaps due to bad timing or a new staff member? The receptionist seemed nervous, and while they explained about the candy upon departure, there was no "Thank you." It might be better for them to avoid front-facing roles for now. My companion shared the same opinion. The meals were just as delicious as last time. When trying to change the water in the open-air bath in the Room, even after removing the plug, the water did not drain. Why?
