    Although the propert...

    Although the property is old, it is well maintained and we were able to stay comfortably for the most part. However, the female staff member at the front desk was very unpleasant, which spoiled our trip.

    Satisfied once again with a relaxing stay while enjoying the view of Soya Bay.

    I stay here every year (sometimes twice) whenever I visit Wakkanai. Having a coin laundry, microwave, and ice machine on site is very helpful. Especially in summer, I often stay in Hokkaido for about two weeks, so the coin laundry is a big plus (some city hotels don’t have one). I didn’t use it this time, but room service is also convenient. I visited in autumn before and there was a day with a severe snowstorm, so I used room service then. I was satisfied with the meal at Annon (this time, the Soya Beef set meal) as well as the breakfast buffet. I’m looking forward to the Onsen.

    A Comfortable Room

    The Room was spacious and very comfortable. The view was not great because hot spring drilling work was taking place right in front of us, but once the construction is finished, I think you will be able to enjoy a wonderful view. The price was reasonable for the quality, and the breakfast was delicious. Next time, I’d like to visit Rishiri Island and Rebun Island as well, so I would love to stay here again as a base for that trip.

    Thank you for your support.

    Although our plan had an early check-in time, the staff greeted us with a smile and let us in because the Room was ready even when we arrived ahead of schedule. We were able to rest well after the previous day’s hike, and we truly appreciated it. We will definitely stay here again when we have the chance.

    Breakfast start time

    I had breakfast right after the restaurant opened so I could catch the first ferry to Rebun Island, but I still didn’t have enough time. It was really disappointing because there were so many delicious-looking options. It would have been great if breakfast could be served a bit earlier—even 30 minutes, or even 15 minutes.

    We had a great stay!

    The Hotel was cleaner and nicer than I expected. The view from the Room was wonderful, and I was able to relax. Breakfast was delicious, but it felt a bit cramped. I thought it would be even better if there were more space to enjoy the meal comfortably. When I come to Wakkanai again, I would like to stay here again.

    I expected too much.

    Arrived at 7:00 PM. Even though we clearly had a lot of luggage, two young staff members at the front desk looked idle and ignored us. When I asked if I could borrow a luggage cart, they only said “Go ahead” and made no effort to help. Although the parking lot was obviously full, there was no guidance or signage at the entrance about where to park next. A female front desk staff member who seemed to be Chinese and an older male staff member inviting guests to the Japanese restaurant on the first floor were kind and worked hard, which really helped, but since I had high expectations, I was disappointed with the hospitality. The Room is spacious but not very user-friendly. The bed, view, and cleanliness were excellent.

    The food was amazing!

    First, I rated the Onsen/bath as 1 not because the Hotel facilities were poor, but because I went to Yamuwakkanai Onsen Minato-no-Yu instead. As for meals, I used the morning buffet and everything was excellent. It featured plenty of Hokkaido ingredients, and every dish was delicious. Personally, the dashi ochazuke stood out: a simple DIY style where you add your preferred toppings and just pour broth over it—but the flavor of the broth was incredible. I also ended up having seconds of milk. The corn soup also felt very “Hokkaido.” I could go on forever, but it was truly outstanding. If I had to mention one thing, only the coffee might have some room for improvement. The Room was spacious and comfortable as well. My wife and I stayed together, and it was large enough that we didn’t even need to step aside when passing each other—so we could relax with zero stress throughout our stay. It was also nice and roomy when having drinks in the Room at night. Also, this Hotel is in a great location. Wakkanai Station and the Breakwater Dome are right in front of you, and Yamuwakkanai Minato-no-Yu and Fukko Market are also nearby. It sounds like an Onsen Facility will be added soon, which I’m looking forward to as well.

    It was comfortable.

    I was traveling solo, but the single rooms were fully booked, so I stayed in a twin Room. It was going to rain the next morning, but the Room was so comfortable that I ended up relaxing until right before checkout. The amenities (including Sekkisei) were excellent, as expected. However, I would prefer a body wash that feels less slippery. This is my own fault, but after washing and stepping out of the bathtub once to grab something, I slipped on a small amount of body wash left on the tub floor when I got back in and fell, ending up covered in bruises. That unit-bath bathtub is quite slippery, so I think a body wash that rinses off cleanly would be safer. The breakfast venue is small. The table layout and guidance left a negative impression, but all of the food was very delicious, so I’m glad I added breakfast. I recommend it if you’re unsure. For me especially, the buttered potatoes and milk were great—I went back for seconds. I think it starts to get less crowded from around 8:00. I wanted to wash clothes using the coin laundry machines, but there was only one and it was in use, so I couldn’t do laundry. I think quite a few people want to do their own laundry during their trip, so having more machines would be convenient. It sounds like you’re developing an Onsen; once it’s ready, it should make staying here even more enjoyable. Overall, this was a very good Hotel with high satisfaction.

    We are currently planning to add new services related to Onsen drilling.

    Using a nearby day-use Onsen facility might be a good option. Rather than keeping everything within the Hotel, it would be great if the whole area offered services together. Experiences like a fishing boat ride or fishing also sound fun. A sea urchin rice bowl tour and a market visit would be nice as well. Wakkanai Station, the breakwater, and more are right in front of you—an excellent location.

    Stay in Wakkanai? This is the place!

    I stayed here the night before sightseeing in Rishiri and Rebun. I wanted to enjoy local dining, and since I was leaving early in the morning, I chose a stay without a meal Plan. If I had to mention a downside, the parking lot is a little far from the building and is gravel, so you can’t roll a suitcase easily. However, my Room was on the ocean side, and from the window I could see the ferry terminal and the Breakwater Dome. The window is fixed and cannot be opened. The Room was clean and spacious enough. After touring the islands, I stayed at another Hotel in Wakkanai city, but this Accommodation was far better. When I stay in Wakkanai again, I will definitely choose this place.

    It was clean.

    I stayed for two nights. It feels like a high-quality Business Hotel, and the Room was clean with a great view, so I had a very comfortable stay. I was a little surprised to see a deer at the Hotel entrance early in the morning. I’m sure it causes various problems for locals, but as a visitor I couldn’t help thinking it was cute. There was only one coin laundry machine, so I got worried, but I was able to use it early in the morning and it worked out fine. Breakfast was delicious across the board.

    Close to the station...

    Close to the station, ferry terminal, and town, the Hotel was spacious and allowed us to relax and take our time. I thought an Onsen would make it even more relaxing, and I heard a Facility may be added in a few years. When that happens, I’d like to visit again.

    A nice Hotel (we recommend an ocean-side Room).

    I stayed in a sea-side Room, and the view outside the window was like a painting. The bed was very comfortable, and I felt reassured that this is a Hotel where you can truly sleep well. The sheets were smooth, with no strange odors, and very pleasant. The bathroom area is old but well cleaned and kept tidy. One thing that felt like a missed opportunity was the dining area on the first floor. I think it could feel more inviting if there were illustrations or displays introducing what’s available and highlighting local specialties—this could also add more energy to the Hotel overall. It feels like there’s still plenty of potential to build on, which seems a bit of a shame. As a base for sightseeing in Wakkanai, the location is excellent. Thank you for your hospitality.

    This is a very good Hotel.

    The Facility was impressive and the location was great, yet it was very reasonably priced. Highly recommended if you are visiting Wakkanai. The meals were also excellent.

    Room Upgrade & Early Breakfast Opening

    I reserved a single room, but at check-in, I was informed that I had been upgraded to a more spacious twin room on the hotel's top floor, the 11th floor. Although it wasn't on the ocean side, I was satisfied. (This likely depends on availability at the time, so I consider myself lucky.) For guests using public transportation with early departures, breakfast is available starting at 5:00 AM. This was explained during my stay and is the earliest opening time I've experienced in any hotel so far. While an early breakfast wasn't necessary for me this time, there were occasions in the past when I wished for an earlier start—so this earns extra points from me! It allowed me to proceed with my next plans efficiently. However, the restaurant where breakfast was served felt cold; it made me crave something warm. Next summer, I'm planning to visit Rishiri Island and Rebun Island again and would love to stay here once more. Thank you!

    Landmarks in Wakkanai

    A landmark accommodation in Wakkanai, this is a must-visit when you come to the area. While the facility does show signs of aging compared to the "recently renovated business hotel" nearby and lacks a large public bath, it still has its charms. The breakfast is delicious, and the service is truly first-class. Notably, breakfast is served as early as 5 AM, which is impressive. This timing is thoughtfully aligned with the first ferry to Rishiri and Rebun Islands, which departs shortly after 6 AM. Such efforts are truly commendable. The location, being very close to Wakkanai Station, is also extremely convenient. If I may suggest, it would be even more helpful if recommendations for nearby dining options were provided, as local restaurants tend to be crowded during the peak season. The northern Hokkaido region is blessed with abundant natural beauty and rich tourism resources, but it is unfortunate that there are currently very few accommodations available. While I understand the challenges posed by population decline and other factors, I sincerely hope this landmark accommodation continues to thrive and represent the region.

    The buffet was delicious.

    I chose the Plan with breakfast and dinner included because I didn't feel like going out to eat. The meals featured local specialties, had a wide variety, and everything was absolutely delicious. The curry was exceptional. Most guests seemed to go out for meals, so the buffet was quiet and allowed for a relaxed dining experience. The Hotel had a very calm atmosphere, which helped me unwind from the fatigue of traveling. I would love to stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality!

    We stayed as a family, including two elementary school children!

    We visited Wakkanai for the first time in Hokkaido with our two elementary school-aged sons and stayed for two nights in a Japanese-style room at the Sahil Hotel. As mentioned in other reviews, the meals were excellent. If I had to point out something, it would be that having more dessert options would have made the kids happier. The building is old, so it's understandable, but the toilet flush lever was stiff and didn’t work very well. The faucet lever at the sink was also hard to use for young children, and they couldn’t turn on the water by themselves. Perhaps because we stayed in a Japanese-style room, the futons were thin and we didn’t sleep well. Next time, we’d prefer beds instead. The most negative impression was with the laundry facilities—especially since the dryer didn’t work properly at all. With small children who often dirty their clothes, having laundry facilities is appreciated; however, even after extending drying time by an additional hour beyond default settings for washing and drying cycles combined—it still left clothes damp! This caused frustration among family members as plans changed next day solely due redoing laundry outside hotel premises instead! Avoid using hotel’s laundry services altogether!

    The Room offers a stunning ocean view in an excellent location. It is conveniently just a few minutes' walk from Wakkanai Station. While many places serve less-than-ideal rice these days, the lunch here is reasonably priced and features perfectly cooked premium rice, making it a rare treat to enjoy delicious rice when dining out. On the other hand, the seafood at the buffet did not suit my taste. Perhaps this is understandable given the price point, but I hope for improvement in this area. Still, this Hotel remains my choice whenever I visit Wakkanai.

    It was a good Hotel.

    Stayed for one night on the way back from Rebun and Rishiri. I didn't have high expectations, but it turned out to be an excellent Hotel with a great location and a comfortable atmosphere. Although I hadn't made a Reservation for dinner, nearby restaurants were fully booked, so I ended up trying the Japanese cuisine at the Hotel. It was delicious, the service was excellent, and it exceeded my expectations as well.

    The Hotel as Expected

    This was my second stay in five years. The twin room on the high floor with an ocean view met my expectations. The breakfast had a wide variety and was delicious. The only improvement I would suggest is the faucet in the room's bathroom, as adjusting the temperature was challenging. Other than that, everything was excellent.

    Recommended Restaurants

    Annon, the Japanese restaurant, offers both course meals and à la carte options, which was perfect for my mother and me as we eat small portions. Every dish, from the Soya beef tataki to mozuku seaweed, fried chicken, and even the broth for ochazuke, was delicious. Marine, the Western-style restaurant, also provided a pleasant experience with kind and attentive service. Both their cakes and dishes were delightful. The housekeeping staff greeted us warmly every day, making our 3-night stay comfortable. While we appreciated the assistance from the front desk staff, there is room for improvement in their communication skills to make it more polished. The Hotel is about a 4-minute walk from the station and stands tall enough to be easily visible from anywhere nearby—a reassuring feature. We even saw wild deer walking in front of the Hotel; it was such a calming sight. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the ferry terminal—an excellent choice if you’re planning trips to Rishiri or Rebun islands!

    The view may not meet expectations.

    Being a seaside Hotel, I had some expectations for the view, but unfortunately, all I could see was the parking lot, the lobby ceiling, and what seemed to be the walls of a hall. At night, there was a guest speaking loudly in Chinese on the phone in the hallway for an extended period, which was quite noisy. The breakfast lacked freshness and variety; staying for 3 nights with exactly the same menu every day made it tiresome by the third morning. Despite being the most expensive Hotel I stayed at in Hokkaido, it left little positive impression. That said, the Room was clean and quiet with minimal noise from air conditioning.

    Be inspired by the stunning sunrise.

    You can enjoy a view of Soya Bay from the room, and the beauty of the sunrise was particularly breathtaking. The breakwater dome and Wakkanai Station are nearby, making it very convenient. I would love to stay here again when I visit Wakkanai next time.

    A Wonderful Hotel in the Northernmost Town

    I never expected to find such a wonderful Hotel in the northernmost town. Highly recommended along with the view of the Soya Line running along the Teshio River.
