    Completely satisfied with everything.

This was my first stay in four years, and I was completely satisfied with everything—the clean Facilities and the thoughtful care from the staff. I could also clearly see your environmental initiatives, and it really felt like you are making a genuine effort. Breakfast was carefully prepared item by item, and the health-conscious dishes were delicious as well. In the evening, since my birthday is next week, my friend ordered champagne via room service, and when the staff member delivering it heard that, they brought me chocolates. I truly appreciated that kind gesture. I would love to stay again for a special occasion.

I have used the lounge before, but this was my first time staying overnight. The meals, Room, Facility, and service were all excellent, and I’m glad I stayed. I was able to relax and unwind at the Horizon Club. The French toast on the breakfast menu was especially delicious, and there were many other items that caught my interest, so I would definitely like to visit again!

    Long live the staycation!

It was discounted on IKYU, so I begged my companion to come with me. (I really did beg, haha.) Back when I lived in Tokyo, whenever my parents or grandmother visited, we would always stay here—our family has always loved this place. When we arrived at Tokyo Station by Shinkansen, it was easy to spot the staff member who came to meet us. She was cheerful and friendly, and chatting with her helped ease my nerves since it had been a while since my last visit. Back at the club lounge for the first time in ages. The melon juice was unbelievably good! I kept drinking melon juice nonstop—maybe six glasses in total… (haha) The Room was spotless, the bed was wonderfully fluffy, and the night view was beautiful! I’m sure people in the building across could see how excited we were (haha). There were plenty of towels as well, which really helped! The grilled chicken during cocktail time was so delicious… I don’t usually drink alcohol, but since it was a special trip I decided to try some—and it was sweet and tasty! When we returned to our Room, turndown service had been done. There were dried pineapple pieces—I expected them to be crunchy, but they were soft and moist. They were sweet, and the pineapple aroma gently spread in my mouth… so good (tears). One thing that concerned me: one of the replacement water cans had a large dent. orz It wasn’t an easy-to-miss dent. The contents seemed fine though, so I drank it anyway. We also ordered the signature cake via room service. It looked so gorgeous that I couldn’t help blurting out “Wow!” out loud. It also doubled as a celebration for my companion’s anniversary; since I mentioned that in advance, they even provided complimentary drinks—which truly moved me. The taste was excellent too—we finished it easily between the two of us. We slept soundly until morning and had breakfast at the club lounge. There were lots of options; among them, mango bread drizzled with honey surprised me! It’s sweet but not heavy—the honey really brought out the mango flavor. Last time I tried the Chinese congee at breakfast and loved it; this time it felt a bit under-seasoned, which was disappointing… Also, there were moments when different staff members gave different answers to the same question, which made me uneasy… Still—it was an extremely satisfying stay! I’m also grateful to all the staff who saw us off with bows until the elevator doors closed on our way out. We truly had a wonderful time! Thank you very much.

Enjoy a wonderful, extraordinary time with a touch of luxury.

Everything was top-notch. The entryway area is separated from the carpeted space when you enter the Room, and the carpet is plush yet easy to walk on. The sheets are high quality, and the logo amenities made me feel excited. There’s even a TV by the vanity. The shower products at both the vanity and the bath were Molton Brown, and the view was incredible. Just being in the Room made me happy. It’s also close to Tokyo Station, with a great location and easy access. The night view was amazing, and I slept soundly. A sleeping mist was provided, and when I returned to my Room after going out at night, turndown service had been beautifully done and even the trash had been cleared away. Breakfast was outstanding—especially the pastries. With so many beautiful breads lined up, I truly regret not being able to try them all; they were that delicious. Even the water bottles and slippers had Shangri-La logos—thoughtfully present in the Room with pride, making them reassuring companions for relaxation. The service was excellent as well—an exceptional Shangri-La stay. I would definitely love to stay again.

As it was my first stay, you kindly picked me up at Tokyo Station and showed me to a beautifully clean, nicely chilled Room as much as three hours early. Every member of staff welcomed me with such warm smiles that, even in a luxurious space far from everyday life, I was able to spend a wonderfully comfortable day as if I were in my own Room. Breakfast was truly delicious, and on top of that, the delightful conversation with the cute female staff member who spoke languages fluently, along with the thoughtful attentiveness of the male staff member—never intrusive yet always considerate—made me linger longer than planned. I’ll work hard and will definitely stay again!

    Disappointed with the lounge service.

I have stayed here many times, but each time the lounge hours, food selection, and benefits seemed to decline, so I hadn’t visited for a while. However, since the Italian restaurant Piacere reopened, I decided to stay again after a long time. In the past, when I entered the Hotel and said I had access to the Horizon Club Lounge, staff would contact the lounge for me. This time I was simply told, “Check-in is on the 28th floor,” which was disappointing. I then went up to the 37th floor to check in. My luggage was taken at the entrance, but when I left the lounge it had gone missing—I was shocked. The staff only kept repeating, “We’ll check,” and “It may have been delivered to your Room.” There was also a male staff member who handled my check-in but acted as if it had nothing to do with him, which made me lose trust in the lounge staff. During my stay (and again at checkout), explanations were given by foreign staff whose Japanese was difficult to understand, and it was stressful just trying to listen. Fortunately my luggage was found, but it was an unacceptable experience and response overall. Both afternoon tea and cocktail time offered only what was on the buffet counter; compared with other Hotels’ lounges it clearly felt inferior. Despite that, the Room rate is now double what it was before COVID-19. The attentive staff who used to provide pleasant service are gone—despite two of us sitting together, when we asked for water they brought only one glass. Used plates were not cleared promptly either; eventually we placed them on a small ledge by the window. In every respect, I strongly felt that service has deteriorated. When we returned to our Room about 30 minutes before cocktail time ended, turndown service was still in progress. Champagne and fruit had been left in water as if ice had melted around them, but there was no message or explanation (and not a single word from lounge staff), so we didn’t understand why they were there. The next day someone who said they were a manager came to apologize at the restaurant but did not give us a business card. They offered late checkout instead, which we truly appreciated. That said, Piacere’s food was delicious; thanks especially to the foreign receptionist and a Myanmar team leader there، our impression of Piacere remained excellent—just as it used to be. However، at checkout our payment details were also handled incorrectly، so our impression of the lounge is extremely poor۔ This used to be a truly wonderful Hotel، so this stay ended up being deeply disappointing۔

A luxurious Hotel offering exceptional service, refined elegance, and a distinguished atmosphere.

This is currently one of my favorite hotels—along with Fujiya Hotel and The Prince Park Tower Tokyo—one of my “top three” favorites. (All three have been rated as my single favorite hotel at least once.) The front desk service, which I once ranked No. 1, has declined, but the Lobby Lounge—which I previously rated poorly—has improved. Nadaman offers the best food and beverage among these three hotels (though this time a weakness showed when it came to tea). When Piacere was closed, the Lobby Lounge expanded its menu, and it has been maintained since then; having more choices is a good thing for guests. I like Piacere’s half-buffet, but I feel the salad selection is smaller than at other hotels. The lack of a cold plunge pool in the sauna is a major drawback, but I don’t think the Hotel realizes how significant this is. I was satisfied with this stay as well, so I made my next Reservation during my stay.

    The Room was spaciou...

The Room was spacious, bright, and comfortable, and we could even see the Tokyo Skytree. However, the shower head in the bathroom was positioned too high and could not be fixed after adjusting its direction or height, which made it difficult to use. Also, there was a gap at the connection part of the shower head, and water sprayed out from the side, which was unpleasant. I would like to ask that the Facility be inspected. All of the staff were very pleasant, but when our group of four ordered different main dishes for breakfast, there was a significant difference in serving times; the last dish took more than 30 minutes to arrive, and we were worried about making our next appointment. If it would take that long, I wish we had been informed in advance so we could have avoided that menu item.

We had another comfortable stay. There was a power outage in our Room at night and we had to move, but you kindly accommodated our child’s sleep and allowed a late check-out. Thank you very much for your consideration. The pool and spa were as comfortable as ever. We look forward to staying with you again.

    Wonderful

I stayed with my mother in a Deluxe Twin Room without breakfast. It was very nice—close to the station yet away from the hustle and bustle. The atmosphere inside the hotel and the Room were both wonderful, and we had a very comfortable stay. I would love to visit again.

    It felt reassuring.

I usually stay with my family, but this time I was traveling alone and felt a little uneasy at first. Thanks to your many thoughtful gestures, I was able to relax and truly enjoy my stay. Everyone—at the front desk, the staff who delivered Room service, the spa staff, and the team at the breakfast venue—was very pleasant and professional. The view of Tokyo Skytree from my Room was wonderful. Thank you very much.

    The Best Birthday

We stayed here to celebrate a birthday. We were already very happy just to be able to stay, but the Hotel kindly surprised us with a complimentary birthday cake. The cake had a beautiful green sponge inside—gorgeous to look at and delicious to eat! Above all, we were truly touched by the thoughtful care of all the staff. Thank you so much. I am sincerely grateful to have found such a wonderful place as Shangri-La Tokyo and to have met such wonderful staff. I hope to cherish this connection for years to come. Thank you again.

Thank you for your kind support.

I have stayed here several times before, but this was my first visit since COVID, and I came with my daughter for a staycation. The food on the club floor was as delicious as ever, with a good variety, and the hospitality was excellent—overall, it was a wonderful experience. I was also happy that it felt less crowded than before. In the past I brought my own swimsuit, but I had forgotten the details and checked the website this time. However, there was no clear information on whether swimsuit rentals are available for hotel guests (it only mentioned rentals for official gym members), and there was also no mention that pool use requires a Reservation. Because of that, I came without contacting anyone in advance, and unfortunately I couldn’t rent a swimsuit or use the pool—this was the only disappointment. Still, I’m glad I could work up a sweat at the gym. The website seems to lack some of the detailed information commonly provided in Japan and doesn’t appear to be updated frequently; as a result, some explanations are insufficient. Since unclear information likely increases inquiries and creates extra work for your team, I would appreciate it if you could consider improving it. Other than that, everything felt wonderfully familiar and it truly was an excellent stay. Thank you very much.

    It was great.

This was my first stay, and I could clearly see the high standard. I booked a Plan with breakfast, and the breakfast was truly delicious, with outstanding service. In particular, during breakfast, the woman in the lobby lounge impressed me with her refreshing smile and efficient assistance. It’s a Hotel that made me want to stay again.

I have stayed here several times, but each time I felt uncomfortable with the way a front desk supervisor-like staff member spoke to me. I think I will wait a few years before staying again. By the way, the restaurants—both Japanese and Chinese—are excellent in terms of both food and hospitality.

Serendipity! We had a wonderful birthday celebration at this five-star hotel.

Seventeen years after visiting on February 28, just a few days before the Hotel opened on March 2, 2009, and being allowed a brief look inside, my dream finally came true and I was able to stay here. Thanks to a complimentary upgrade, we were given a Room on the Imperial Palace side, and I was able to see the roof of Tokyo Station with my own eyes for the first time. At the main dining restaurant “Piacere,” one surprise followed another: a courteous greeting from the head chef and even a gift to take home—I was truly amazed by such warm hospitality. I had an extremely comfortable stay, making it a memorable birthday celebration. When I returned to my Room from “Piacere,” birthday treats had also been delivered, for which I am deeply grateful. It felt like serendipity after so long, and it became a wonderful birthday celebration at this five-star Hotel.

    This is my first rev...

This is my first review, although I have stayed here several times. The hospitality and attentive service remain unchanged year after year, making for a very comfortable stay. Everything is thoughtfully maintained, so it doesn’t feel dated at all, and there is nothing to complain about with either the Room or the bathroom. Above all, the location is excellent! You can check in right after getting off the Shinkansen, so even if you arrive in Tokyo early in the morning, you can leave your luggage and head out right away. The same goes on departure: you can store your luggage after checkout and pick it up before boarding the Shinkansen. The convenience is outstanding.

    Horizon Club Birthday

From the entrance to the 28th floor, and then up to the 37th. I was disappointed that the staff I passed did not offer greetings or even a smile. Even with guests carrying luggage, this Hotel offered no “May I assist you?” or “Thank you for staying with us.” I can understand why it lost its Forbes five-star rating. Feeling disheartened, I went to the Horizon Club. The experience immediately turned around with a wonderful welcome. Many staff members greeted me with “welcome back” and “happy birthday.” Thank you very much. I had not informed the Hotel that it was my birthday. Supervisor Mr./Ms. T remembered that I had stayed here for my birthday a few years ago, which made this surprise possible. Thank you for the lovely message card and all your thoughtful arrangements. It was the best birthday—thank you. Mr./Ms. S, who has been here since opening day, has extensive experience in bell service and at the front desk and knows this Hotel inside out, which is very reassuring. And Mr./Ms. M, who handled my check-in and check-out—I have been in their care for many years as well. They perfectly understood my preferences and requests, making everything comfortable from start to finish. There were also staff members I met for the first time, yet everyone knew my name—I was truly impressed. The high quality of the food presentation is well known, but what stood out was how the chef regularly checked in to keep everything in perfect condition—excellent. Thank you again for an unforgettable birthday.

    We had a luxurious stay.

I stayed for two nights to enjoy Kabuki. The Room was spacious, well equipped, and in an amazing location with views of Tokyo Station and Marunouchi from the window. It was a truly luxurious Room, and I was able to spend a wonderful time. All the staff had lovely smiles and were very friendly. When I took photos of the “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” artwork at reception, I was also given an art guide for Shangri-La Tokyo, which really moved me. If I have the chance to stay again, I’d love to take my time enjoying the artworks. Thank you very much.

A luxurious Hotel with a stately, refined atmosphere

Along with The Prince Park Tower Tokyo, this is my favorite Hotel in Tokyo. Many big-name foreign luxury Hotels offer a disappointing level of service, yet lure well-meaning Japanese guests with their brand names and charge high rates that don’t match the value. In contrast, this is a dignified, high-service-level, trustworthy luxury Hotel that truly delivers value for money. That said, frequent staff turnover makes it harder to maintain a familiar rapport. (Compared with 10 years ago, the level has declined quite a bit; even so, it remains outstanding and in a class of its own.) On arrival, both the doorman and the front desk welcomed me with “Welcome back, Mr. Yamato,” and the executive chef came to greet me right away. Since my Room wasn’t ready yet, I was able to enjoy a pleasant conversation with him at The Lobby Lounge. For dinner at Nadaman, I thoroughly enjoyed the exceptional cuisine by Chef Mo and Sushi Chef Sa. At breakfast at Piacere, Ms. Ruin Tutu’s warm hospitality made for a wonderful start to the day; Executive Chef O as well as Manager Ma and Manager Si—and Ms. Ka/Ru—also came by to say hello, which made it a truly happy moment. At departure as well, I was seen off by Executive Chef O and Manager Si among others—and left already wanting to return again.

The finest Hotel with true elegance

A typhoon was approaching, so I came to Tokyo a day early and made a last-minute Reservation the night before. I chose to stay at the Shangri-La Hotel, which I had been curious about for some time. It was, honestly, outstanding—far beyond my expectations. The staff’s hospitality was exceptional and genuinely warm, and I became a fan. In particular, it impressed me how they removed their shoes outside the door before entering the room, and how they would stop properly to greet me when we passed each other—every brief interaction felt pleasant and thoughtful. The next day I stayed at another popular luxury hotel with a club lounge, but the Shangri-La Hotel was by far better. Also, the laksa I had in the lobby lounge was truly delicious. I was satisfied with everything. Next time, I would love to stay in a Horizon room. Thank you very much.

    Relaxation

The Room, meals, and hospitality were all excellent, and we had a very relaxing stay. One thing I would like to mention: the front desk in the lobby did not confirm our credit card at check-in and instead asked after we entered the Room. Also, at checkout, we were charged twice for the dinner fee included in this Plan. This lack of coordination was somewhat concerning.

    Simply wonderful.

I visited Shangri-La Tokyo for the first time as a birthday gift. I had originally requested another international Hotel, but I was drawn to Shangri-La Tokyo and asked to make a Reservation instead. It turned out to be absolutely the right choice (I’d like to praise myself for requesting Shangri-La Tokyo). From check-in and tea time in the calm Horizon Club lounge, to cocktail time from 5:30 pm, I was able to relax and fully enjoy champagne, cocktails, and delicious savory bites at my own pace. The staff’s refined, high-quality yet warm hospitality truly felt like Shangri-La Tokyo. The Room was pure luxury—simply wonderful. Since it was a special occasion, we ordered late-night in-room dining and had Ginza Kagari’s chicken paitan soba. It’s a must-try when you stay here. Because the Room was so lovely, we chose not to go to the Horizon Club for breakfast and ordered in-room instead. Each family member selected a different breakfast set, and everything was carefully prepared with excellent ingredients—we were very happy we chose in-room dining. I’ve already requested another stay at Shangri-La Tokyo as next year’s birthday gift. I’m looking forward to next year’s stay at Shangri-La Tokyo. Thank you very much to all the staff.

We stayed for two nights. The wonderful space and the night view from the window made for an incredibly luxurious time. We would love to visit again.

The men’s restroom in the lobby smells really bad.

I stayed for three nights in March. The first thing that shocked me was the stench in the men’s restroom on the 28th-floor lobby—like a public park toilet, as if feces and urine had been left there for a long time. Don’t the staff notice? I feel sorry for the people at the front desk and those dining at the lobby café while that smell drifts through. If you think I’m exaggerating, please try going in without a mask—it really does smell like feces and urine. Also, my name was repeatedly mistaken from start to finish. This has never happened to me at any other Hotel. As a basic rule, I believe you should address the person who made the Reservation and is paying—I certainly would. The food is good. In particular, Room dining is high quality, and that was the only real saving grace. However, when I ordered Chinese rice porridge late at night, it was different from the photo—there were no toppings such as pickled mustard greens; it was just plain porridge. All Facilities feel old. Given that this Hotel is past its peak, some of that may be unavoidable, but things like worn-off labels on Room buttons that are hard to read are honestly disappointing. It felt like visiting my grandfather’s old family home. Overall: an old Hotel with little sense of cleanliness. Still, since prices are relatively low, I gave it four stars. I don’t think I will return.
