    We had a wonderful time.

    It was a trip with my mother. She can’t walk for long anymore, so in recent years we’ve been traveling to enjoy the Hotel rather than sightseeing. This place was perfect for that kind of trip. From the welcome pickup to the very end, all of the staff were incredibly kind. Our Room had an open-air bath, and we truly enjoyed the delicious meals. It became a wonderful memory. Thank you very much.

    It was a wonderful Ryokan. This Ryokan is perfect for anniversaries. The staff were kind and attentive, the dinner was delicious, and the room even had a private open-air bath—I would love to stay here again.

    Relax in the Room bath.

    The Room bath is a free-flowing open-air hot spring bath, available 24 hours a day, so I used it five times. It felt wonderful. Whenever I used the Room bath towels, they were promptly replaced with fresh ones, making for a very comfortable bathing experience. The staff were highly attentive, and the meals were delicious. The public bath only has an open-air bath, and since it was still a bit cold outside, it was hard to warm up properly.

    This is a very cozy accommodation.

    I arrived at the station earlier than the scheduled Shuttle Service time, but they promptly called a taxi for me, and I was able to reach the Accommodation smoothly. I was also able to switch to teppanyaki, which made me very happy. The Room was comfortable, and above all, the food is delicious—I've stayed at this group’s Accommodations many times. I’d like to stay again at a different location.

    I appreciated that y...

    I appreciated that you asked about our meal preferences. We were able to stay at a great price through an IKYU bargain deal, but perhaps because of that, there were no toilet slippers, which personally made me uncomfortable. I borrowed a hair iron, but it may have been an inexpensive one—I slightly burned my cheek. Hakone Fufu was excellent, so we chose this place this time, but it would be difficult for us to use it again.

    The large public bath is a bit small.

    The large public bath felt small, so I didn’t use it. The bath in the Room was fine. The chef adjusted the portion sizes for our meal, which was appreciated. All the staff were courteous and helpful.

    The Room bath is very relaxing.

    Fufu Atami My first stay. The open-air bath in the Room was wonderful and very relaxing. As for the meals, the plating felt a bit rough overall, but the horse mackerel was delicious. However, the kamameshi topped with fried sakura shrimp was too heavy. I think it would be much better to let the ingredients shine—edamame rice with lightly boiled sakura shrimp would taste far better. I also added abalone tempura, but to be honest, all of the fried items were extremely greasy—like tempura made by an amateur. It’s such a waste; I wish they were fried crisp and light. There are many staff members from overseas, and I want to support that, but some spoke too fast and their explanations were not very clear. Proper training seems necessary. It also seems popular with younger guests, but if families with children are staying, I would like to see some measures such as seating families together. With so many inbound travelers as well, this was one of my recent stays where other guests were by far the noisiest during meals. It’s not a family restaurant, and that did cross my mind.

    Always a reliable stay at Fufu.

    The Facilities, dining, and service are consistently excellent, making every Fufu stay a pleasure. At check-in this time, we were also offered sushi and teppanyaki for dinner, and we enjoyed outstanding sushi—thank you very much. We were also told about seasonal sightseeing spots and had a great time exploring. We’re aiming to stay at all Fufu Accommodations.

    This was our fourth ...

    This was our fourth stay at Ki no Ma no Tsuki, which is one of our favorites. We stayed this time to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and as always, the Room and the meals were excellent. However, when we previously visited as a couple, we were seated at a counter with partitions so we could enjoy our meal without being concerned about others around us. This time, we were seated in a private room but at the same table as another family. We have stayed at various Fufu properties (including Atami), and the dining areas have always been designed to ensure privacy—either with layouts that prevent concern about other guests or with fully private rooms—so this seating arrangement was very disappointing. The family seated with us had children, and their conversation was distracting and made us uncomfortable. As a result, my husband and I ended up eating sushi in silence. Because this is an annex property of Ki no Ma no Tsuki, I hope you will place greater emphasis on guest privacy.

    A gold-medal level of satisfaction with sushi kaiseki and Japanese sake

    I returned on a rare day when it even snowed in Atami! Compared to last year, there were more staff, and everything—from check-in to arranging a taxi to Kinomiya Shrine—was surprisingly smooth and flawless. The team has become more international, and it was wonderful to see newcomers working so earnestly within Japanese culture. I was finally able to get a Reservation for the sushi kaiseki at Fufu Atami after a friend recommended it. I was impressed by the thoughtful menu: each warm dish was freshly made or finished right in front of us. The sashimi was outstanding as well—especially the lightly seared Spanish mackerel with perfect charcoal grilling—and the sushi progression was clearly well planned; everything was delicious. When I ordered sake pairings for the sushi, the sake manager explained each one carefully and curated them like a story arc to match the food—excellent taste and sense. It was so good I ended up drinking a bit too much. Both the chefs and staff kept just the right distance, and our conversations were enjoyable. This is my third time at Fufu Atami. Every Room is calm and relaxing, and the in-room open-air bath is amazing. It’s such a comfortable Accommodation that it feels like home. I’ll be back again, and I look forward to seeing you then.

    This trip was for our wedding anniversary, but I felt a bit shy, so I made the Reservation as usual. In the past, during COVID, I had to cancel a stay after requesting flowers for our anniversary. It seems you still had that note on file, and you celebrated with us again this time—it truly moved me. I was genuinely happy. Even though this was our first time staying as a family, I was amazed that you remembered and recreated what we had requested for the previous Reservation.     It was a wonderful stay!

    I stayed for 2 nights, and even before my stay, I received heartfelt support through multiple email exchanges regarding dinner, spa times, sightseeing, as well as baby food and body soap for my baby. I am truly grateful. The room's open-air bath and the large public bath (with open-air bath, sauna, löyly sauna, and steam sauna) were excellent and provided relaxation for both body and mind. Every meal was outstanding in both taste and presentation, and all the staff were very kind. This is a hotel I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Onsen is the best!

    I had the opportunity to stay at an accommodation I had been interested in for a while. The room layout was just my style, and the private open-air bath attached to the room was fantastic. I really appreciated being able to adjust the water temperature. The only downside was that the public bath wasn't very spacious. Starting dinner at 8:30 PM was a bit tough, but I suppose it couldn't be helped since I made the reservation relatively last minute. The meal itself was absolutely satisfying. I would love to visit again!

    Impressive in every way!

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip, and from start to finish, it was truly wonderful and a meaningful time we will always cherish. The meals were delicious, with each dish being a delight for both the eyes and the palate. The Room was spacious, impeccably clean, and provided a very comfortable stay. What left the deepest impression was the exceptional hospitality of the staff. Their heartfelt kindness and thoughtful gestures filled us with gratitude.     First time in Atami, first time at Fufu Atami

    Our family are fans of "Fufu," and this year we had the pleasure of experiencing new encounters with "Fufu" in snowy Karuizawa and autumnal Lake Kawaguchi. To conclude the year, we stayed at this esteemed accommodation, which is the origin of "Fufu," and were delighted to discover a different charm compared to other "Fufu" locations, making us fall in love with it even more. During our stay, our family thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen and indulged in the exquisite cuisine. My wife was particularly impressed by the staff member who handled her spa treatment. It would be wonderful if you could convey our gratitude to them. Thanks to the thoughtful hospitality of everyone at this accommodation, we were able to heal from a year's worth of fatigue and create delightful memories.     I have stayed at numerous onsen accommodations before. While I had high expectations due to its high ranking, the service did not go above and beyond. However, the atmosphere was pleasant. What stood out most was the long wait during check-in. It took an hour from arriving at the accommodation to entering my room. After being served a welcome drink in a private room, no staff came for quite some time. Even when I approached them due to the delay, I was still made to wait. When someone finally arrived, they only confirmed my name, address, and meal times in a very brief manner. After that, I was told another staff member would guide me to my room shortly and waited another 10 minutes. Couldn’t one staff member handle everything? The operation seemed inefficient and unnecessarily time-consuming. I had left my luggage with them before check-in; however, it was placed on a cart in the lobby until brought along by the staff guiding me to my room later on. Some items even fell off during transport in the elevator—it didn’t feel smooth or professional at all despite having handed over my luggage earlier. Couldn’t they have placed it in my room beforehand? The rushed demeanor of the staff gave off an unpolished impression. When arriving by car, I mistakenly went toward another building (annex). If there had been clearer guidance or if staff were stationed further ahead for directions, this could have been avoided. Regarding valet service: My car ended up parked near what seemed like a warehouse area visible from our balcony—this wasn’t ideal for creating a good impression during our stay. While parking space may be limited here overall consideration should include assigning rooms where such views are hidden away entirely instead! Honestly speaking though seeing how cars appeared sorted based upon their rank/model crossed mind too... As far as meals go: High-quality ingredients featured prominently throughout dishes served yet delivery explanations lacked fluency detracting somewhat overall experience unfortunately since presentation matters equally alongside taste/flavor profiles themselves! Timing between courses also slowed significantly nearing end leaving us overly full prematurely diminishing enjoyment levels slightly compared initial stages dining session itself earlier-onwards comparatively better-paced flow-wise otherwise satisfactory nonetheless!     The price does not match the value.

    The room is dark and located under a cliff with no sunlight. Check-in and dinner service were handled by Asian foreign staff who tried their best, but communication was difficult, making it hard to feel the service matched the price. Due to my oversight, I was surprised to find that the public bath (which isn't very large) only had an open-air bath. On the coldest day of the season, using an outdoor bath was impossible due to concerns about heat shock at my age. Visiting Atami without being able to enjoy a proper hot spring was a rare and disappointing experience. The meals were decent but far from justifying the cost. Dining in a cramped private room while watching people walk by outside and listening to loud crying from children in neighboring rooms felt humiliating. Having enjoyed Fufu Karuizawa before, I decided to try this property but will definitely not return again.

    Service not worth the price

    I stayed with my son. It was surprising that there was no welcome drink, and the hospitality snack was just a single bite-sized yokan. At accommodations in Kyoto and Nara, there were plenty of sweets and rice crackers to enjoy. There was quite some time until dinner, leaving us feeling hungry during the wait. Considering the location without a sea view, I would have appreciated more thought on how to spend the time before dinner. Dinner was delicious; however, sushi pieces were served one by one, which felt awkward for us as we don't drink alcohol. The advertisement photos showed several pieces of sushi on a plate at once. That said, the chef had a charming personality which we appreciated very much. As for breakfast, I noticed about a 1cm fish bone next to the coaster which ruined the experience for me. Doesn't table cleaning involve wiping down everything thoroughly? It felt unhygienic. The points mentioned above might be acceptable at more affordable accommodations; however, given your pricing level, I expected better attention to detail and care in these aspects.

    The Western breakfast is disappointing.

    This was my second stay. The room was spacious, and since we used the elevator, it was convenient for my elderly mother. Thank you for making it comfortable for us. The towels were replaced promptly, and we appreciated being able to use plenty of them. However, the breakfast on one day was Western-style, which I had been looking forward to based on past reviews and photos from before COVID-19 at Fufu Atami. Unfortunately, the meal served was completely different and disappointing. Everything was lukewarm or cold. The bread seemed to be store-bought and reheated—a thin slice of toast and a burnt croissant each—both served cold with butter that wouldn’t melt when spread. There was only one sausage provided as well as just one drink option, which wasn’t even offered until we asked for it. Even a café’s morning set would have been of higher quality than this breakfast. Since meals are an important part of travel enjoyment, I hope improvements can be made in this area moving forward.

    This was our first visit to Atami. The staff who welcomed us and guided us to our Room were very kind, and the garden was beautiful, creating a wonderful atmosphere. However, my husband has back issues and experiences numbness when walking for long periods, so the distance to the Room and the stairs were challenging for him. The open-air bath was small but very relaxing, almost cleansing for the soul. Unfortunately, my husband couldn't use it as it required going down stairs. The temperature adjustment of the open-air bath in our Room was a bit difficult. However, bathing in the morning while listening to birdsong under dappled sunlight was truly amazing. For dinner, we initially requested Japanese cuisine but switched to teppanyaki upon recommendation as there was an opening available. The Hokkaido-sourced meat was incredibly delicious! Breakfast also had excellent flavors with a delightful broth that made me wish I had tried Japanese cuisine for dinner too! That said, if we had chosen Japanese cuisine for dinner, we would have dined in a slightly smaller space without much openness; therefore, enjoying teppanyaki at the counter turned out well. Overall, everyone’s hospitality left a great impression; our Room was clean and well-maintained along with beautifully kept gardens. We look forward to visiting again!

    It exceeded my expectations!

    We stayed in the Premium Corner Suite at Annex Kinoma no Tsuki for our anniversary. The room was spacious, and the garden view from the large windows was beautiful. The private open-air bath in the room was incredibly relaxing. The slightly lukewarm temperature made it so comfortable that my husband thoroughly enjoyed soaking for a long time. Dinner at the sushi kaiseki restaurant was exquisite, with each dish carefully prepared and absolutely delicious. It became a truly memorable anniversary. We sincerely hope to visit again!

    Clean and pleasant a...

    Clean and pleasant accommodation. The room bath is a bit small for two people, but the room itself is spacious and well-arranged for convenience. However, both the restaurant and the large public bath are quite far away, requiring a walk outside, which could be challenging on bad weather days. It seems like this accommodation is designed for a leisurely stay, but dinner took nearly three hours. For two people who don't drink alcohol, the waiting time felt a bit long.

    Fufu Atami was amazing!

    I stayed with my son, sister, and husband, making it four of us in total. For my husband and me, this was our third time staying at Fufu (after Nikko and Karuizawa), but it was the first time for my son and sister. My son mentioned that this accommodation was the best overall compared to any other place we’ve stayed at before. We requested pick-up and drop-off services, which allowed us to relax comfortably. Every staff member we encountered greeted us with a warm smile and excellent hospitality. Above all, the onsen with its natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source had an incredibly smooth texture—it was by far the best quality onsen I’ve ever experienced. We had booked two rooms, which were arranged close to each other—thank you for that consideration! This flawless accommodation left nothing to be desired, and I would love to stay here again. Fufu truly offers exceptional experiences at all their locations!

    I stayed here once before the renovation, and this is my first visit in several years. The sense of privacy remains outstanding, with no surrounding noise or voices heard, making it very comfortable. The meals were absolutely delicious, especially the cherry shrimp rice at the end, which was exquisite. I enjoyed a long soak in the private bath while watching TV and found the bed to be incredibly soft and cozy. The Sisley spa is also hard to resist... Honestly, one night is not enough. I hope to stay for a multiple night stay someday when time and budget allow. Even the amenities like lotion were pleasant to use.

    Accommodation after the renewal opening

    This was my second stay at Fufu Atami, with the first being before the renovation. Thank you for accommodating our last-minute shuttle service request. Check-in was quick and smooth. Although it was a bit disappointing that our room was on the far side of the second floor, the room itself had a practical square layout and was very comfortable. Everything about Fufu is always excellent, but this time, the cuisine stood out as exceptionally delicious. The head chef's dedication to dashi really shone through—it might have been the best meal I've had at any Fufu property so far. I stayed at Fufu Tokyo on its opening day a week ago, where I found the flavors slightly stronger in comparison—perhaps that's why this meal felt even more refined (or maybe it's just my age). As always, everything from staff service to overall experience met Fufu's high standards. Next time, I hope to stay in "Kino Ma no Tsuki" room. Thank you again for another wonderful stay!

    First Trip to Atami

    This was my first trip to Atami, and I chose to stay at Fufu Atami. The shuttle service from Atami Station to the hotel, as well as the private check-in and dining rooms, provided a very relaxing experience. The open-air bath in the guest room was absolutely amazing. I also appreciated having plenty of towels available. Dinner was delicious, and the service timing was perfect.     It was wonderful, but there was one disappointing point.

    I have stayed at five Fufu series Hotels, including this time, and I always end my trips with great satisfaction. I truly love these Hotels. This one in Atami is also impressive overall, as expected. Among the Fufu series, the meals here felt particularly delicious (this is just my personal opinion), and it’s enough to make me want to visit again just for that. However, there was one disappointing point about the meals. During dinner, the server was a foreign staff member, so it was hard to understand their explanation of the ingredients. There were also no instructions on how to eat certain dishes or what utensils to use. The serving speed was slow as well; the wait time between courses felt quite long. The foreign staff member was extremely polite and not at all bad in their service—on the contrary! But because such wonderful meals are being served here, these points were truly unfortunate.
