    A Wonderful Experience

    This was our second stay, and the wonderful hospitality, delicious meals, and above all the bath in the Room were outstanding. The amenities are so well stocked that you can come almost empty-handed with just a change of clothes, and my wife was thrilled with the hair dryer.

    I have stayed at several Hotels of a similar class, and personally I did not find it as disappointing as the Reviews had led me to expect. Given the layout of the Facility, some aspects—such as the size of the large public bath—may be unavoidable, and overall I was able to stay without any major complaints. If I had to mention one thing, guests who choose their Accommodation primarily for the food may find it a little underwhelming.

    A luxury Ryokan secluded from the bustle of Atami

    I recently stayed at Fufu Jogashima and it was even better than I expected, so I chose to stay at this Accommodation as well. The food was excellent, and you can really feel the attention to detail in the Room interior and amenities. Although it has been nearly 20 years since it was built, the Facility and overall upkeep are well maintained. They even covered the taxi fare from Atami Station, which made me happy even over a small gesture. I’d love to try other Fufu properties too.

    Everything is wonderful.

    The staff, amenities, cuisine, and baths—everything is wonderful. I’d love to visit all the Fufu locations. I want to come back again and again.

    This is my second time.

    Because the meals and the Onsen were great when I visited two years ago, I decided to come back. It was just as good as I remembered.

    It was a very nice accommodation.

    Both the Room and the bath, as well as the meals, were excellent. The service was attentive. We were able to spend a relaxing and luxurious time. If I may mention one thing, a razor was provided, but it wasn’t very sharp, and there was no shaving foam. I tried using another soap instead, but it didn’t work well and I ended up cutting my face.

    The hospitality was ...

    The hospitality was excellent. I really appreciated the Shuttle Service when traveling from the annex. However, it was disappointing that the open-air bath in the main building was small.

    A Comfortable Stay and Innovative Japanese Stone Design

    This Hotel, set in a quiet area of Atami, was comfortable and well suited to its surroundings. The Room’s semi-open-air bath was spacious and very relaxing. Dinner, a Japanese kaiseki course, was innovative and unconstrained by convention, and it was an excellent meal that conveyed the chef’s passion. However, while I understand staffing shortages are common these days, the person who handled check-in procedures and guidance seemed like a part-time worker with limited training; they were hesitant, unable to provide necessary information, and even gave incorrect guidance, which was very disappointing.

    The expiration date is.....

    At the recommendation of friends who wanted to see the fireworks, I stayed for one night on July 26. The open-air bath attached to the Room was wonderful, but the corridor leading to the Room was narrow and winding, which made it difficult. Sandals were provided, but the straps hurt and I couldn’t use them. There were three pieces of fruit in the refrigerator, but since I didn’t eat them during my stay, I tried to have them on the Shinkansen on the way home—and was shocked. Despite staying on the 26th, their best-before date was listed as July 25, 2026. They are now sitting in my refrigerator at home while I wonder what to do with them. I wish this had been properly checked. I was disappointed in many ways.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    The Room, service, and Onsen were all excellent. The meals were good as well, but breakfast at 9:30 was a bit late. That said, we arrived late too, so that may have been part of it. Everything else was truly great.

    The bath is amazing!

    The Room was wonderful, and soaking in the hot water again and again was truly relaxing. The amenities were high quality, and my wife was impressed with the hair dryer and hair iron. There were many doors throughout the Hotel’s layout, which was a bit confusing at first, but the staff kindly guided us.

    The top priority for improvement is the draft beer.

    The Room was absolutely wonderful, and it was an excellent stay overall. There were a few disappointing points, but the biggest one was the draft beer at dinner. Draft beer doesn’t taste good if the taps aren’t properly cleaned… In my view, restaurants with great food tend to have great draft beer as well—meaning the equipment is well maintained and cleaned, and they pay attention to details. If the draft beer isn’t good, it can feel like that attention to detail is lacking. This time, the draft beer at Fufu had a taste you would never expect at a high-end place. I hope this can be improved. Also, compared with other Hotels in the same group as Fufu, I was disappointed that the breakfast desserts were very ordinary. Most of the staff were wonderful—I could really tell how hard they were working. However, one female staff member came across as unpleasant (for example, when we made requests she seemed irritated and started placing dishes down loudly). Even if everyone else is doing their best, it’s a shame that just one person’s irritation can leave such a negative impression.

    The service is good, but…

    There were several noticeable issues, such as rust and peeling paint. I called multiple times before check-in, but no one answered, which was disappointing. I wanted to use the hometown tax donation program, but I was told to ask IKYU.

    This was my first stay at Fufu Atami, and everything from check-in to check-out was exceptional. I will definitely stay again!

    An outstanding Accommodation with nothing to fault.

    We stayed to celebrate an anniversary. First, the Shuttle Service was very comfortable, with one vehicle provided per party. From check-in to being shown to our Room was smooth, and we were truly moved by the surprise flowers waiting in the Room. Thank you as well for accommodating ingredients we don’t like without any hesitation. The meals at Fufu were as delicious as rumored; although we have stayed at many Ryokan, this was the best. It made us want to come back just for the food. After dinner, I had arranged for a cake to be brought out after we returned to the Room and had some time to relax. The timing was perfect, and I was impressed by how well the staff coordinated behind the scenes. The Room was wonderful in every way, and the open-air bath was especially relaxing. We would love to stay in a different Room next time. Even after checkout, arranging a taxi was very smooth. Throughout our stay, Fufu’s staff were attentive down to every detail and always seemed one step ahead—I found them truly outstanding. We had a comfortable and special experience, which made for a wonderful anniversary trip. My partner loved it too, so we would like to return for another anniversary stay. A flawless five-star experience. Thank you very much.

    An Accommodation I’d Like to Visit Again

    I can confidently say this is the best Accommodation I have ever stayed at. The meals are truly exceptional, but my selfish feeling that I don’t want it to become too popular makes me hold back from saying more. If I had to add one thing, since it’s a Ryokan for adults, it may not necessarily be the best fit for families with children. I will definitely come again, and I look forward to staying with you.

    This is my first stay.

    The Room was very clean, and we were able to relax! The open-air bath attached to the Room was also wonderful. I was also happy that the women’s amenities were Sisley. The meals were delicious, and we enjoyed them even more thanks to the beautiful tableware. With high expectations, a few areas I hope can be improved… At check-in, it would be nice if an oshibori hand towel were offered in addition to drinks. I understand there may be staffing shortages, but it was disappointing that hand towels in the lobby restrooms weren’t replenished, and that glasses and drinks in the free-flow area weren’t refilled at all. Also, while all staff members worked hard with smiles, some international staff are not yet fluent in Japanese, which made simple communication a bit difficult. That said, it’s an Accommodation with a great atmosphere, and each Room is different with thoughtful details—overall a very pleasant space.

    Thank you very much.

    I stayed at Sekaie two years ago, and this time I had the pleasure of staying at Fufu Atami. It was busy when I arrived, so it took a little time, but I was offered a welcome drink and received guidance while waiting. When I entered the Room, it was even more wonderful than I had expected—spacious and open, with a minibar as well. The open-air bath was excellent, and the Onsen surrounded by an airy bamboo grove was truly relaxing. For dinner, I enjoyed a sushi kaiseki course along with paired drinks at the same time, which made for a luxurious and very satisfying experience. They also replaced used bath towels immediately with fresh ones, so I was able to soak in the Onsen many times both morning and night and fully enjoy it. All of the staff welcomed me with smiles, and it was impressive how naturally they showed thoughtful attention to small details. This stay was for our 43rd wedding anniversary trip. It is an Accommodation I would definitely like to use again if I have the chance. Thank you very much for everything.

    Trip with My Mother

    Fufu Accommodations are a favorite of mine, and I have visited several locations; Atami also offered spacious rooms, excellent service, and delicious meals. The open-air bath in the room was roomy, but it was separate from the shower room, which was a little inconvenient, and I felt it might be cold to move between them in winter. It would also be nice to have an elevator to the second floor.

    Two-night trip with my father

    This was my first visit. We enjoyed a free-flow welcome drink on the Fufu Main Building terrace and made a toast. Dinner was sushi on both nights, but there was an experienced sushi chef, everything was delicious, and there was a great selection of wine by the glass, so we enjoyed it without getting tired of it either night. It was an Accommodation with outstanding hospitality, and one I would love to visit again.

    Completely satisfied with the Onsen and teppanyaki

    We stayed in the Comfort Suite at Fufu Atami during Golden Week. It was quite rainy and cold that day, so we cut our sightseeing short and headed back to the Hotel early. We worked up a good sweat in the sauna and Onsen and were able to warm up thoroughly. The beer after the bath was exceptional. The teppanyaki dinner was very filling—guaranteed to leave you satisfied. Since our Room was far from the restaurant, rain blew into the stairway section of the corridor, and we got wet at times. We would have appreciated an awning for shelter from the rain. Overall, the service was attentive and we were very satisfied.

    Overall, it was good.

    This is an Accommodation I’d been curious about for a long time. As all Rooms are suites, the spaciousness and sense of openness were excellent, and we were able to relax and enjoy a wonderful stay. However, there was one very disappointing point. Because my companion has a visual impairment, we requested in advance that meal explanations be given using methods such as the clock-face position. The staff at dinner were very pleasant and explained everything exactly as requested, but at breakfast it seemed that this information had not been shared at all. The explanations relied only on vague terms like “here” and “there,” which conveyed nothing to my husband, who cannot see. If this were a reasonably priced Accommodation, I could understand—but because I trust Fufu as a top-tier Accommodation, I had expected thorough staff training and proper information sharing. Since everything else was perfect, this lack of coordination felt especially unfortunate. I was also surprised by the guidance to our car after checkout: the staff member proceeded matter-of-factly and only offered words of thanks after we greeted them first. At other Accommodations in the same price range where we have stayed, there was always a courteous farewell through to the very end, so perhaps that made it feel even more disappointing. I’ve written quite a bit, but I hope you will take this as feedback offered with high expectations for future improvement. Thank you for the soothing time we spent in our Room.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    This was my first stay at Fufu Atami. The Shuttle Service from Atami Station was very helpful. I enjoyed a variety of dishes unique to a Ryokan. The optional abalone tempura was outstanding—the thick, meaty abalone was delicious. The Onsen was a bit hot, but I adjusted it with water and soaked at a relaxed pace. Having free-flowing Onsen water in the Room is very convenient. In the open-air bath area, there were cold beer, coffee milk, and ice pops after bathing—such a thoughtful touch. I was able to unwind in the Onsen while listening to Japanese bush warblers singing. In two weeks, I’ll be visiting Fufu Jogashima.

    The Room, meals, hot water, and service were all excellent.

    From the welcome to check-in, the service was exceptionally courteous—more like a luxury Hotel than an Onsen Accommodation. The Room was clean and functional. Every dish was outstanding, bringing out the natural aroma and flavor of the ingredients without heavy seasoning. Even the sashimi in this kind of course—which I usually don’t expect much from—was properly prepared and consistently delicious. With only a small number of guest rooms, it never felt crowded, and we enjoyed a very comfortable stay. The sound of bush warblers heard through a slightly open window, along with the sound of Onsen water flowing into the private open-air bath in our Room, was also wonderfully soothing. I’ll work hard so I can come back again.

    Fully satisfied with the dining, Onsen, and guest room.

    Hehe, I stayed in the Comfort Suite in Atami. First of all, the meals were wonderful—every Japanese dish was carefully prepared, and I was highly satisfied with both the taste and presentation. The Room was spacious with a calm atmosphere, allowing me to relax and unwind. It was also very clean, and I felt that attention to detail was excellent. The in-room Onsen was incredibly pleasant as well—so comfortable that I wanted to soak in it again and again during my stay. Overall, this Accommodation had an excellent balance of dining, guest rooms, and Onsen, and it’s a place I’d love to stay at again.

    We had a wonderful time.

    It was a trip with my mother. She can’t walk for long anymore, so in recent years we’ve been traveling to enjoy the Hotel rather than sightseeing. This place was perfect for that kind of trip. From the welcome pickup to the very end, all of the staff were incredibly kind. Our Room had an open-air bath, and we truly enjoyed the delicious meals. It became a wonderful memory.     It was a wonderful Ryokan. This Ryokan is perfect for anniversaries. The staff were kind and attentive, the dinner was delicious, and the room even had a private open-air bath—I would love to stay here again.

    Relax in the Room bath.

    The Room bath is a free-flowing open-air hot spring bath, available 24 hours a day, so I used it five times. It felt wonderful. Whenever I used the Room bath towels, they were promptly replaced with fresh ones, making for a very comfortable bathing experience. The staff were highly attentive, and the meals were delicious. The public bath only has an open-air bath, and since it was still a bit cold outside, it was hard to warm up properly.
