    Please clearly state that the Facility has significant changes in elevation and many stairs.

    We stayed at this Accommodation for 2 nights and 3 days as an anniversary trip with my wife, who has weak legs and a heart condition. Overall, it was a very poor fit for us, and we felt unwelcome throughout our stay. 1. Property layout and Room changes The in-house map on the official website barely showed any stairs, so we could not confirm them in advance. In reality, there were no elevators except in the lobby building, and moving around required many stairs and steep slopes due to significant changes in elevation. I believe we arrived around 14:30. Perhaps because the lobby lounge was full (I’m not sure), we were directed to chairs at the spa reception area instead. We waited there for about 10 minutes, then were told they had opened the bar urgently and that we should move there. After taking the elevator down to the lowest level, we had to go outside and descend multiple flights of stairs within a property with major elevation differences. At the bar, we waited about 30 minutes. We were then told they would take us to our Room—without having completed a proper check-in up to that point. However, the Room we were shown required going down another full floor by stairs; we were told it was on “3F” with no elevator access. Considering my wife’s condition, I asked once to cancel our stay. In the end, they adjusted us to a smaller Room with less burden and we decided to stay, but moving around during our stay—including going to the smoking area—was consistently difficult. 2. Lack of consideration regarding meals and response For dinner, we asked to be moved to a first-floor table seat in order to avoid using stairs; however, everyone around us appeared to be international guests. Many of the dishes served—such as “Shinmaru-imo simmered with mint” and “Paprika castella with basil cheese”—were unfamiliar for Japanese guests, and the seasoning was extremely strong; my wife could only eat about half of it. From the next day onward, we requested lighter seasoning and managed somehow through two nights. 3. Dissatisfaction with Facilities / services The large public bath in the lobby building was very small. While the open-air bath in our Room was comfortable, there were no slippers provided for use on the wooden deck area. Also when requesting an umbrella on a rainy day, it was left at our entrance without any prior notice—another example of insufficient consideration. As people who usually choose places with minimal steps or level changes, I feel it was also our mistake that we failed to recognize how many steps this Accommodation actually has; however while individual staff members did their best on site, overall service left us strongly dissatisfied.

    My Beloved Suisyoen

    I have stayed at Suishoen many times, and once again I truly appreciated your hospitality during my two-night stay from May 7. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the consistently warm welcome from all of your staff. Because this is an Accommodation I love so much, I would also like to share a few honest points that stood out, in the hope they may be helpful going forward. Regarding the wait time at check-in, as with my previous visit, there was a period after arrival when we waited in the car. Even during busy hours, having a system that allows for smoother guidance would make the experience even more comfortable from the moment guests arrive. Also, when we were served tea in the lobby, I noticed there was no oshibori. Given your thoughtful hospitality, it would be even more appreciated if an oshibori could be provided as well. As for the yukata, it seemed the design had changed since before; when worn, wrinkles were noticeable in unnatural places, and I was also bothered by wrinkles on the sleeves of the haori. It felt a little disappointing compared with how nice wearing a yukata can be. On the other hand, the pajamas were now a separate top-and-bottom style and were far more comfortable than before—this was a very welcome change. The meals have always been delicious, and I had long been curious about the head chef’s name listed on each menu. This time I was able to greet him directly and speak briefly with him, which made me very happy and left a particularly strong impression. Every dish reflected careful craftsmanship; conversation with our attendant flowed naturally as well, and we enjoyed a luxurious and deeply satisfying time. The open-air bath in our Room was also extremely relaxing—especially bathing in the morning while listening to beautiful wild birdsong. Soaking leisurely in the Onsen became a blissful moment of deep healing for both body and mind. I also heard that all seats at the bar are now non-smoking, so next time I would love to stop by. I am already looking forward to returning again in October—Suishoen is an Accommodation where each visit brings new discoveries and comfort—and I cannot wait until the day I can “come home” again.     Disappointing meals

    The dishes were served very quickly at first, but then became extremely slow partway through—so much so that it made us sleepy—which was disappointing.

    This is a wonderful Accommodation where you can relax and unwind.

    After the renovation, I visited with my husband and was able to relax in the greenery, and the Onsen water quality was excellent, so we returned again right away. As it was a last-minute stay, we were told the dining menu would be the same, but it was so delicious that we would have been happy with the same menu as last time. However, thank you for kindly changing it at short notice. It was wonderful again this time. We visit Hakone every month, and this place was so outstanding that we would like to come every month. All of the staff were also excellent in their service.

    A Luxurious Adults-Only Getaway

    I had been looking forward to the reopening, so I stayed right when it opened. From check-in, I loved the completely refreshed atmosphere and would love to stay again as soon as possible. All Rooms are suites, and I enjoyed an elegant time soaking in the in-room open-air Onsen bath again and again. If you want the luxury of doing nothing, Hakone Suishoen is the place! Each dish prepared by the head chef is like a work of art—absolutely delicious—so both my heart and stomach were completely satisfied. Also, just like at Fufu, I love Hakone Suishoen’s onion dressing—it’s so good that I bought some to take home. I also had the chance to speak with the general manager; it was truly insightful, and I’m very grateful for their valuable time. The hospitality of all the staff was wonderful as well, and it’s a place I’d love to stay again in a different season.

    The wonderful staff made my stay truly relaxing.

    It was my first visit in a year and a half. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted with a smile by Ms. B. I was delighted that she remembered me from my previous visit at the bar. For dinner, I enjoyed teppanyaki. Thank you, Mr. O, for making it such an enjoyable and delicious experience! After dinner, I returned to the bar where Ms. B once again took care of me, and we had a wonderful time chatting together—thank you for your kindness despite being busy! I also had the chance to talk with Butler S from my last stay, which made this visit truly special. After checking out, several staff members in casual attire kindly saw me off with warm smiles as I stepped onto the road—what an amazing team of staff! I look forward to visiting again after the renovations. Recently, I visited "Yoko no Kaze" in Karuizawa to see Mr. S there as well. He provided exceptional service as always! The other staff members were equally impressive and left such a positive impression on me. KGP is truly remarkable (in the best way possible)! Absolutely outstanding!

    The best room in a special accommodation

    Having visited Fufu properties in Suihoen, Nikko, and Kawaguchiko, all were wonderful, but the luxury suite Room at Suihoen is truly exceptional. The teppanyaki dining and Bar are also excellent, and I am looking forward to the grand reopening.

    Always completely satisfied.

    We always look forward to staying at this accommodation, which our whole family loves. The staff's hospitality is exceptional. Both the dinner and breakfast staff provide attentive service, which we deeply appreciate every time. The meals are always outstanding, thoughtfully prepared with care, allowing us to enjoy the presentation, textures, and flavors—leaving us feeling truly happy (we tend to overeat every time!). We heard that the accommodation will temporarily close for renovations but are excited to visit again once it reopens. Thank you very much!

    Thank you very much for your hospitality the other day. Despite the sudden reservation, we appreciate your thoughtful arrangement of the room. Thanks to you, my daughter and I were able to spend a relaxing time together, creating wonderful memories. I have always loved "Fufu" and enjoy visiting its accommodations. This was my second visit to Suishoen since my first visit last year. The calm atmosphere and, of course, the delicious meals are exceptional. All the staff members were very polite and provided excellent hospitality, making it a truly wonderful accommodation. I heard that renovations will begin at the end of this month, and I am looking forward to seeing its renewal next year.

    Enjoyed the cuisine.

    The accommodation will be closed for renovations until the end of September, so improvements are expected. The air conditioning in the guest room was noisy and not very effective. The detached accommodation we stayed in had two beds and an onsen bath. The room had a calm atmosphere, but it felt a bit confined due to the lack of windows. The onsen bath in the guest room offered a view outside, creating the best ambiance (though I got bitten by mosquitoes). The property has varying elevations, which might make it challenging to walk to dining areas for those with mobility issues or during rainy weather. I did not use the large public bath as it was far from our room. Meals were kaiseki cuisine with great variety—visually delightful and delicious. There seemed to be many foreign staff members who were friendly and pleasant.

    For a blissful moment, choose Hakone Suishoen.

    The hospitality of the Katopleasure Group staff is amazing, and I absolutely love it. Our room was upgraded. Each room has a name with a happy meaning, making you feel joyful even before entering. A spacious room with a large wooden deck and a hammock!! We were able to relax and unwind at our own pace. The Japanese cuisine prepared by the head chef is simply delicious!!!! The dishes are served in an exciting flow while looking at the menu, leaving both our stomachs and hearts completely satisfied. Suiso-en is such a wonderful accommodation that makes me want to visit again after its renewal!

    The service is not worth the price.

    The staff were very kind and did their best, so I’m giving 5 stars, but I was disappointed with the service overall. - Check-in took quite a long time. (I also saw another guest who had been kept waiting get angry with the butler.) - There was no welcome drink or hot towel. (This was my first time not receiving them at this price point.) From that moment, my excitement dropped immediately. As with Fufu Hakone, everything felt rushed and not relaxing, and it really seemed understaffed. It made me feel sorry for the staff who are working so hard. The Grandistyle in Okinawa that I visited last month was much better. Unfortunately, both Fufu and this property do not feel worth the price.

    It was incredibly relaxing.

    The chef's cuisine is exceptional. With great care, high-quality ingredients, perfect seasoning, and creativity, the dishes are elevated to an even more delicious level. Not only dinner but also breakfast is meticulously prepared and feels like a warm treasure box. I am completely a fan of the chef. Additionally, the service and care provided by all staff members are impeccable. The amenities and towels are of high quality. The Room's open-air hot spring bath with natural flowing water leaves your skin silky smooth. Even in the hot month of August, it was cool with breathtaking views. Everything was satisfying!

    I had a comfortable stay.

    I have stayed here several times and, as always, had a comfortable experience. The dinner during the autumn leaves season was delicious. Although there was a mix-up between Western and Japanese breakfast, it was promptly corrected, and they even extended the check-out time to 1 PM—such excellent service. It seems renovation work will begin next month, but I look forward to visiting again once it's renewed. However, I hope there won't be a similar issue as with Fufu Atami of the same group, where smoking on the terrace became prohibited after its renovation.

    Relaxing and Leisurely Summer Retreat

    A trip that helps you forget the scorching days. Surrounded by trees in Hakone, we enjoyed two cool and delightful days. The meals were delicious, and the Onsen provided a refreshing break. Thank you to the staff for their thoughtful hospitality. It's unfortunate that we won't be able to visit for a while due to renovations.

    Stay After 9 Years

    The Onsen, meals, hospitality, room, and service were all excellent. I stayed with my children and sister. The staff were very polite as well. However, perhaps due to fatigue or a communication error, the breakfast order for the next day was mixed up between Western and Japanese styles. It didn’t bother us much, but I was slightly concerned if the staff might be tired. Previously there were only Japanese staff members, but this time there were many foreign staff as well, which might have been a factor. I was thrilled to visit before the renovation. The atmosphere of the location is wonderful, and I look forward to visiting again after the renovation!

    The food and bath were excellent, but...

    I have stayed at Fufu several times before, and this time, based on a friend's recommendation, I decided to stay for the first time. As expected, it was a calm and relaxing accommodation. The meals were exceptional, including the atmosphere of the dining area, and the room's open-air bath provided a peaceful retreat. However, there were some disappointing aspects that seemed to stem from many staff members being foreign trainees. For instance, there was no breakfast menu provided nor any explanation from the staff. Although I had heard about cold brew coffee during check-in, there was no further mention or explanation about it later on. It felt awkward to ask questions due to the atmosphere created by some of the foreign staff members. Additionally, upon entering my room, there was no explanation regarding how to use the dual-sided compartment at the entrance of my room. Assuming it worked like Fufu's system elsewhere, I left dishes in it for collection; however, they were not replaced by morning. A clear explanation about such differences would have been appreciated in advance. While I had high expectations for this stay and enjoyed certain aspects thoroughly, overall it left me with mixed feelings due to these service-related issues—improving attention towards guest interaction could make this an accommodation I'd love to revisit in future!

    I visited with my wife and both of our mothers. We stayed here last year as well and had such a wonderful experience that we decided to return. Once again, it was an exceptional stay that exceeded our expectations. The warm hospitality of the staff was truly comforting.     "It was amazing!"

    We stayed for two nights from May 7th and had a very comfortable stay. At the dining area, we were delighted to reunite with a staff member who assisted us during our previous visit. For dinner, we enjoyed kaiseki cuisine on the first night and teppanyaki on the second night—both were absolutely delicious. Of course, breakfast was also fantastic! We were completely satisfied. Thank you for the wonderful meals! The open-air bath in our Room had soft and soothing water, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We felt deeply relaxed while admiring the 300-year-old maple tree along with various plants and flowers around the property. On our way out, we happened to meet someone in chef's attire who kindly stopped to bow at us. All other staff members greeted us warmly whenever we crossed paths within the premises, making it a pleasant experience throughout our stay. Even after check-out, you sent us off with smiles, leaving us feeling great until the very end of our visit. Thank you so much! We look forward to visiting again in September! Best regards, Unizou

    This was my first ti...

    This was my first time staying here, and I appreciated being able to switch to a Western-style room as the Japanese-style room wasn’t as comfortable for me. Although many of the staff were non-Japanese and their language skills were slightly awkward, their earnestness left a positive impression. Just like my previous stay at Fufu Atami, the food was exceptional. The teppanyaki was great, and while I would have preferred the lobster to be slightly rarer, it was still delicious. Breakfast, in particular, was perfect. Overall, there’s very little to criticize—though a slightly larger TV would have been nice. This has become a place I’d love to return to again!

    I had informed the staff about my dislike for certain ingredients three days prior by phone, and they confirmed it at the time. However, I was surprised to see those ingredients served during dinner. For those with allergies, I recommend confirming multiple times. Although I have had good experiences using this accommodation several times before, I think I'll choose a different accommodation next time.

    Short-staffed?

    I chose to stay at this Hotel as I had a good impression of Nikko Fufu. Upon being seated at the dining area, the appetizers were served promptly, but it took an hour for the next dish to arrive. Such a long wait diminished my appetite. I left before finishing the final course and dessert. Although I submitted a questionnaire addressed to the manager, there was no response.

    Accommodation from June 2 to June 4, 2025

    Thank you for the other day. This Hotel is a wonderful escape from my daily life. Although I have only visited a few times, I always find myself wanting to return! Even on a budget, it feels worth it. The Room was clean, and the staff treated me kindly with pleasant conversations despite my modest means. Above all, the food was incredibly delicious, making it a place where both body and mind can relax and feel fulfilled. The Onsen in the Room also allows for leisurely relaxation. This time, I visited with my mother again. Since our last visit together, her legs have become weaker, and as Suishoen is located in the mountains with stairs and stylish stone paths that can be challenging to walk on, she seemed to find it inconvenient at times. My mother even said softly, "This might be my last time here," which made me sentimental. As life changes over time and ways of enjoying things evolve too, I felt truly happy to be able to visit this place again with her during this phase of our lives. I'll make sure we create another opportunity to come back together someday. Thank you for providing such a restful holiday—I’ll work hard until then!

    I had a bit of trouble with the room's lighting and temperature settings. It would have been helpful if there was a brief explanation when we were shown to the room. For dinner, we chose teppanyaki, and the menu was very well thought out and absolutely delicious. Additionally, I was touched by the thoughtful gesture of providing tissues and a trash bin at our breakfast table after remembering my husband's reaction during dinner that caused him to have a runny nose. This level of hospitality combined with the delicious meals makes me want to visit this accommodation again.

    The atmosphere was very calm, allowing for a relaxing stay. The Room was spacious and included an open-air bath, which was very comfortable. The large public bath was also clean and pleasant. Both the dining area and the meals were highly satisfying. The attentive hospitality from the staff from check-in onwards felt truly exceptional.

    Satisfaction Onsen Property

    This time, I stayed for one night in a standard Room. I was very satisfied!! The Room was very clean, and the open-air bath in the guest room had just the right temperature and size, allowing me to relax comfortably. (The soft drinks and beer in the Room are free!) For dinner, I chose kaiseki cuisine. The quality was high, and there was a wide variety of drinks on the menu. Although there were slight variations in service timing depending on the time of day, all staff provided excellent hospitality and service. I think the satisfaction level is higher than the price! Considering access, if circumstances and budget allowed, I would have liked to stay for two nights.

    Very satisfied!

    I stayed for 3 nights. Everything was perfect from arrival to checkout. The Room and the private open-air bath attached to the Room are very spacious. The large public bath is also sufficiently spacious considering the total number of Rooms. Everywhere is clean, quiet, and flawless. Above all, the highlight is the excellence of the cuisine and the dining area. I am thrilled to have finally found a Property worth repeating after a long time. Thank you for your hospitality.
