    A very relaxing Accommodation that we were completely satisfied with.

    With only a few Rooms, it never felt crowded, and we were able to enjoy a relaxing, luxurious stay. We also tried the private bath, but the open-air bath in our Room was more than enough and very satisfying. Every meal was carefully prepared and delicious. The staff were all highly professional as well—this Accommodation exceeded our expectations, and we would love to visit again.

    To celebrate my father’s 90th birthday.

    We visited with my parents to celebrate my father’s 90th birthday. Thanks to the thoughtful care of all the staff, my father, who has difficulty walking, was able to enjoy a wonderful time. Thank you very much. He was also able to use the private bath and says he would love to come again. We look forward to staying with you again in the future. Thank you very much.

    Wonderful.

    I felt truly refreshed. It was quiet, and the views, the Accommodation, and the food were all outstanding. The Shuttle Service vehicles—a Mercedes-Benz and a Century—made it feel like VIP treatment. Next time, I’d love to stay again in an even better season and enjoy a cruising experience as well.

    Compared to before...

    This has been my favorite Accommodation in Shima, and I’ve been coming for the past six years. This time, however, I noticed some signs of cost-cutting and changes to the Onsen Reservation system, which left me surprised on several occasions. That said, the food was high quality and truly delicious. It’s certainly not bad, but because the hospitality used to be exceptional, arriving with that same expectation was a bit disappointing.

    Excellent!

    The guest room with an open-air bath, the private bath, the in-house salon, breakfast and dinner, and the staff’s hospitality were all wonderful. If I have the opportunity, I would definitely like to stay again.

    Wonderful.

    We were completely satisfied with the Room, the in-house Facility, and the meals. Everything was wonderful. We will never forget how delicious the Basara rice was.

    A bit disappointing.

    I’ll mention a few disappointing points. First, I understand it may be unavoidable that the roof above the indoor bath is not connected to the main building’s roof, but leaving it as an open hole without even installing netting makes me wonder if there is any consideration for insects in summer. It makes me not want to visit in summer. Also, I was bothered by the creaking noise of the bed. Other Accommodations at a similar level use beds such as Simmons, so it stood out even more. Also, perhaps because the wall between rooms is thin, I couldn’t sleep because the neighboring guests’ voices were loud. However, when I contacted the front desk, they responded immediately. The meals were very delicious.

    It was a bit disappointing.

    This was my second visit. I stayed once shortly after the opening, and it was so wonderful that I chose Basara-tei again this time. Once again, the service felt like the very best hospitality. However, I was disappointed that the hours for the tea room and lounge felt awkward. Dinner is offered at either 17:30 or 19:30, but 17:30 is too early—so if you choose 19:30, you can’t use the tea room or lounge. If you want to enjoy them, I recommend choosing 17:30. I gave up (in tears). As for the food, I was also disappointed that it no longer had the kind of performance it did before. I saw on TV that the special rooms still come with a wonderful performance, so if you’re looking for a sense of surprise like I was, definitely stay in a special room. In the past, even without a special room, dinner was exciting and fun to watch… so this change was disappointing.

    A Ryokan that exceeds expectations in every way.

    We traveled as a family with our grandfather. We have stayed here many times and made a Reservation because we really wanted to bring him along. Although he has some difficulty walking, the staff kindly helped us with Room arrangements and meal requests, and our grandfather was very satisfied. We also reserved the Amatsuki Room, and the view was wonderful. Time seemed to slow down, and it became a happy trip where everyone could spend time smiling. The meals were very delicious, and the portions were truly just right.

    There was an incorrect charge, and the response left concerns.

    Despite not receiving any massage services, the charges were added to the bill. I had already completed the payment, and upon reviewing the statement later, I found it suspicious and decided to check. It was then confirmed that it was an incorrect charge. While I acknowledge my fault for not checking the statement immediately on that day, I never expected such a billing error at a Ryokan in this price range, which left me very surprised and disappointed. If I hadn't reviewed the statement, I would have ended up paying for those charges unknowingly. Additionally, this reservation was made as part of a birthday trip, and I had requested a cake in advance. The email correspondence prior to our stay was very thorough, and since it was planned as a surprise after dinner on that day, we felt assured leading up to our visit. However, after dinner we were handed breakfast information with "That will be all for today," but no cake appeared even after waiting for some time. My companion almost returned to the room before I went to confirm with staff myself; only then was the cake finally brought out. Given how carefully everything had been arranged beforehand through discussions via email, we had expected smoother handling on that day itself—this left us feeling disappointed.

    The private open-air...

    The private open-air bath recommended by the staff was freezing but enjoyable. Unfortunately, there was a dripping sound from the water facilities in the room throughout the night, which made it hard to sleep. Although I was informed that guest rooms can be cold, it was colder than expected, and I couldn't sleep well until I requested extra blankets. Better air conditioning would have been appreciated. Would this have been different in another room? The meals were visually appealing but tasted average. The breakfast staff seemed very busy and did not attend to us much; as we had a train to catch and were about to leave, another staff member hurriedly prepared dessert for us. While tea and desserts were available in the lounge, they were not replenished during our visit, so we left without having any. Given its high review ratings, we had high expectations for this accommodation but felt it did not quite match its price point.

    The property is frequently renovated, blending old and new features, which some guests may find intriguing. The commitment to regular updates within the national park is commendable. The focus on creating a dynamic and engaging experience is impressive. Additionally, the variety of lounges with unique features stands out. Among them, the least crowded lounge "Aoi" offers exceptional acoustics with its wave speakers in a perfectly geometric interior space.

    You can relax completely.

    The room had an onsen, allowing us to enjoy a soak while gazing at Ago Bay anytime, which was amazing. Since we stayed in a sea-view room, we chose the private bath "Tsuki no Miya." It offered a different atmosphere from the room's bath, which was delightful. The meals were as delicious as expected. We could feel the dedication to ingredients, such as having a rice field exclusively for Basara-tei. The overall ambiance of the accommodation was wonderful, and strolling around the premises was enjoyable. The view from the lounge was stunning. We would love to stay here again!

    Luxuriously and leisurely

    ■Room I stayed in the annex "Tsuki no Kan," which offered ample space and a comfortable atmosphere. The room had several relaxing spots, allowing for a very leisurely stay. The view from the private open-air bath on the second floor of the maisonette was stunning, and I could enjoy a warm bath anytime (the water is heated cold mineral spring water). ■Facilities The lounge was well-equipped, offering alcohol at certain times, which greatly enhanced satisfaction. The sunset view from SAZANAMI Lounge was also beautiful. Since it is primarily self-service, you can relax without worrying about others. As SAZANAMI Lounge is located by the seaside, there are some steep slopes and stairs to navigate; those concerned about walking should consult with staff members for assistance. I used two private open-air baths; personally, I liked "Ten no Kagami" better as it was quite spacious and allowed me to enjoy views of the bay before sunset. On certain days, stars can be seen from "Tsuki no Miya," but unfortunately, I only saw two or three stars during my visit. There seem to be local cats around; while walking outside, you might spot them napping peacefully (staff members are attentive to ensure they do not bother guests). ■Dining The quality of dinner was exceptionally high and very satisfying in terms of both taste and quantity. Even small details like tableware were beautiful. After dinner, night snacks were also provided. For breakfast, you can choose between Japanese or Western styles with generous portions available for both options. Although some dishes were served in slightly hard-to-eat tableware, everything tasted delicious. ■Service The service style allows for relaxation without unnecessary interactions from staff members unless needed. Requests such as reservations for private open-air baths or changes in sizes of indoor wear or sandals were promptly accommodated via internal phone calls. Although I arrived quite early before check-in time and had to wait unattended in the lobby until check-in began later on—other guests who arrived afterward were guided first—it seemed that both check-in and check-out processes took their time individually per group at a slow pace overall!

    Multiple Night Stay is difficult.

    I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay, but compared to the hotel I stayed at the previous night, there were many disappointing aspects. The most disappointing was the dinner on the second night. It did not feature ingredients from Ise-Shima and was just average Japanese cuisine. I was honestly very surprised to see squid tempura served. Since the first night's dinner was delicious, it made it all the more disappointing. The Japanese-style breakfast also did not include Ise-Shima ingredients like seaweed miso soup but instead had pork and mushroom miso soup. As someone else mentioned, dishes using local ingredients would be preferable. The room was clean and generally satisfactory, but noises from neighboring rooms' toilets and door openings/closings echoed significantly. Regarding the lounge, when I visited after 9 PM, almost all cups for drinks were used with only two left available, and snacks were sparse as well—very disappointing. Although I wanted to relax during my Multiple Night Stay, the lounge closed at 10 PM; moreover, there were no workshops or similar activities within the facility, leaving me with no choice but to stay in my room... A dedicated lounge or workshops for multiple-night guests as well as private baths seem necessary. I use various Ryokans and Hotels throughout the year; it's been a while since I've experienced such a disappointing Ryokan. However, one staff member from Nepal left a very positive impression on me! Their manners and language skills surpassed those of many Japanese staff members—I was truly moved!

    A relaxing accommodation where you can stay and feel satisfied even without nearby tourist attractions.

    Stayed on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025. This time, I chose to stay at the accommodation to relax rather than explore tourist spots. I stayed in "Akari no Ni." The high ceiling with large wooden beams and Ryukyu tatami made the room very comfortable, offering a beautiful view of Ago Bay. It was truly a relaxing experience. The accommodation has two lounges where complimentary snacks and mini cakes are available, providing a cozy space to unwind. The SPA offers thorough massages for complete relaxation. Both dinner and breakfast are served in private rooms, allowing you to enjoy your meals without worrying about others' eyes. The portions were generous for both meals, leaving me completely satisfied. While I was happy with my stay overall, I think it would be perfect if there were an option for smaller portions with even more focus on quality. According to locals, this accommodation is operated by people from the area and has been open for 18 years with many repeat guests. Although not inexpensive, the satisfaction definitely exceeds the cost. Highly recommended for a leisurely stay!

    I slipped and fell d...

    I slipped and fell due to water sprinkling. Every time I met the staff, they kept asking if I was okay, which made me uncomfortable as it felt like they assumed it was my fault for tripping. When the shuttle service arrived for my departure, the staff gave me a small souvenir and handed me an umbrella since it was raining. However, as both of my hands were full with luggage, I declined the umbrella but was still told to take it, which left me in a difficult situation.

    The private open-air bath with a view of Ago Bay is exceptional.

    Located by the stunning Ago Bay in Ise-Shima, this accommodation offers an exceptional location. The room's open-air bath is outstanding, allowing you to relax while enjoying the view of Ago Bay. With multiple lounges, private open-air baths, a cruise ship experience, and more, there are plenty of activities to explore—it's recommended to research in advance. Both dinner and breakfast are delicious, especially the Basara rice and fish. If anything could be improved, it would be great if leftover Basara rice could be turned into onigiri for a late-night snack. This is an accommodation you'll want to visit again!

    This was my second stay in two years. Just like last time, I was extremely satisfied with the accommodation. Although my arrival was delayed by an hour due to unexpected changes in my schedule, the staff kindly called to confirm, providing attentive support even before I arrived. Additionally, they thoroughly accommodated my wife's meal requests made in advance, allowing us to fully enjoy our stay. I would love to stay here again!

    We are currently understaffed.

    When we arrived before 2 PM, we were told to wait about 10 minutes as the waiting room was not ready yet. We waited in the parking lot, but even after 20 minutes, no one came to call us. Carrying our luggage into the Ryokan, there was no one around. While wondering what to do, someone who seemed to be from the spa came out and served us tea. Most accommodations guide you to your room even if you arrive early for a 3 PM check-in, but here we were finally guided at 2:50 PM. We wanted to reserve a private open-air bath and asked a staff member about it. They said reservations start at 3 PM for a usage time of 50 minutes and advised us to make the reservation by phone from our room. When I called immediately after entering my room, I was told that reservations are accepted starting at 3 PM. When I explained that I had been instructed by staff to call right away, they then accepted my reservation. If usage starts at 3 PM, it should be common sense for reservations to be accepted before then. During dinner service, when appetizers were brought out, I ordered alcohol; however, it only arrived after finishing my appetizer and receiving the next dish. Additionally, while there is an open-air bath in the room and access once-only private open-air baths available for use during your stay—there is no large public bath facility which felt disappointing despite these options being available. The facilities and furnishings are thoughtfully designed throughout; however moving forward please consider investing more towards addressing staffing shortages as well adding larger communal bathing areas onsite! For reference improvement ideas perhaps look towards Shima ◯kō Hotel where stayed following day whose team/staff training left positive impression overall!

    The service was exceptional, among the best I've ever experienced, and the Room was fantastic, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful time. It felt like an extraordinary escape and a valuable experience. However, the meals and lounge were disappointing. I believe it would be worth investing a bit more in the food quality. While I think the head chef did their best, it must have been challenging with those ingredients. To be honest, even upgrading to the highest level still resulted in poor-quality ingredients. In terms of food alone, it felt overpriced even at 10,000 yen. The sashimi with yellowfin tuna and squid was subpar—below even casual pub standards—and while the beef's cooking was excellent, if it's due to the owner's preferences or budget constraints, there's little that can be done about such low-quality ingredients... As for the lounge: perhaps because the owner doesn't drink alcohol? Glassware should definitely be provided there. Enjoying canned beer or plastic cups amidst such stunning scenery diminishes its charm significantly. Although wine is available upon checking further details—there are no wine glasses provided either! This seems quite lacking given everything else being so outstandingly well-done otherwise. Guests choosing accommodations within this class likely prioritize content over cost; therefore improvements here could make all difference moving forward positively overall long-term perspective-wise too! At present honestly speaking under current circumstances repeating stay wouldn’t seem likely but since staff hospitality truly stood out remarkably beyond expectations hence sharing feedback constructively hoping things improve better soon ahead eventually altogether ultimately!

    It was truly the bes...

    It was truly the best Ryokan! One night is not enough. The staff, meals, and Onsen were all perfect! The late-night snacks, three lounges, and high-quality private baths were unique features rarely seen at other Ryokans, making it an enjoyable experience! I will definitely visit again!

    Inspiring.

    On December 8th, we visited to enjoy an early year-end celebration and spend a relaxing time with my wife. Upon arriving at Kashikojima Station, we were promptly greeted with shuttle service. At the front desk, we were welcomed warmly with yuzu tea and sweets along with a kind "Welcome back." The guidance to our room and explanations about the facilities were thorough. The staff also made optimal suggestions for private baths and cruise reservations tailored to our pace, allowing us to fully enjoy our stay. The charcoal-grilled dinner exceeded all expectations in its excellence, and the hospitality of the chef and staff left a lasting impression. Conversations naturally arose with other guests who were all refined individuals, providing an inspiring experience. Breakfast featured dishes made from plenty of local ingredients, making for a refreshing start to the day. At the end of our stay, we even received souvenirs before being smoothly shuttled back to the station—a thoughtful touch that accompanied us until the very end of this journey. This stay became one of the most special moments in my life. It was such a fulfilling experience that it gave me strength for days ahead!

    Pros: - Friendly and attentive staff. - Three lounges available, which is convenient. - Beautiful and relaxing location overlooking a seaside cove. - Delicious meals provided. - Small nighttime snack offered. - Complimentary drinks in the refrigerator. - Comfortable attire provided, including samue, bathrobes, and pajamas. - High-quality snacks that are genuinely tasty. Cons: - Private baths can only be used once per stay. - Lounge is lovely but lacks sufficient snack replenishment. - The lounge pot contained water instead of tea or other beverages. - Breakfast miso soup was watery (seemed to have been left out for too long). - Meal portions were on the smaller side.     It was finally the relaxing trip I had been dreaming of.

    After several cancellations, we finally managed to stay at the accommodation this time. We were able to visit the long-awaited Ise Jingu Shrine and enjoyed a blissful moment in the relaxing space of Basara-tei. Thank you for your hospitality. The only slight disappointment was with the meals. While dinner was served hot and delicious, and we were satisfied with even a late-night snack provided, the Japanese breakfast was overall lukewarm. Especially, the miso soup and dried fish were cold, which was unfortunate. I understand that preparations might be made in advance due to busy times, but freshly prepared dishes would have been more enjoyable. The facility map was difficult to read; I mentioned this to the shuttle service staff as well. It might be easier if areas like private open-air baths (three locations), lounges, and guest rooms were color-coded on the map for clarity. If these points are improved by our next visit, it would leave an even better impression. Looking forward to it!

    A Long-Awaited Visit to Ise-Shima

    The open-air bath in the Room overlooking Ago Bay was delightful. The atmosphere and furnishings in the facility and guest rooms were also lovely. However, the meals were a bit disappointing.

    Wonderful... but...

    The price is relatively high, and from a cost-performance perspective, there are some minor doubts about whether it matches the value. However, overall satisfaction is achieved. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, are exceptional—visually stunning and absolutely delicious. The Room is very comfortable and relaxing. The lounge offers excellent drinks, snacks, and desserts—truly impeccable. Because of this high standard, small imperfections tend to stand out... Having stayed at many Facilities before, this one made me feel like I want to return again. It’s that relaxing!
