    I feel refreshed.

    I planned to take it easy, but then I got greedy—I wanted to enjoy matcha, go cruising, visit the lounge, and use the private open-air bath—so I had to make a schedule from check-in (lol). I thought that if dinner started at 5:30 p.m., we would make it in time for the 8:00 p.m. private open-air bath, but the final dessert took a long time to arrive and I started to panic. In the end, I used the call button and asked a staff member to bring it. Even so, by the time we got back to our Room and got ready for the bath, we ended up about 10 minutes late, which was a bit disappointing. But that’s only because it was such a wonderful open-air bath. The in-Room bath was also available anytime and felt amazing, so I soaked in it several times as well and just relaxed. Getting down to the seaside lounge involves quite a lot of stairs—easy on the way there, scary on the way back (lol). It was tough for seniors like us, but we still went three times. With so many services available, one night isn’t enough to enjoy everything. Even though we made some complicated requests regarding meals, they accommodated them perfectly and we’re very grateful. They changed our Room between dinner and breakfast so we could enjoy different views as well—that was great. All of the staff were kind and welcoming with smiles. Thank you very much.

    A Stay After a Long Time Away

    This was my first stay in a year. Perhaps because it is close to the sea, the food was fresh and delicious. There was also a nice surprise, which I appreciated. The staff’s hospitality was excellent, and their friendly smiles were wonderful. However, I was concerned about the aging Facility. The bathroom floor in the guest room was broken, and it seemed worse than a year ago. I think this should be fixed as soon as possible. Overall, I feel the rating has improved slightly compared to before. It’s very hot out there, but please keep up the good work.

    It was amazing.

    This was the best Accommodation I’ve ever stayed at. The in-room open-air bath was easy to use, and the overall atmosphere of the Accommodation was wonderful. The only drawback was that the dinner portions were far too small. I think increasing them a bit wouldn’t change costs much, but would significantly improve guest satisfaction. The hospitality was excellent as well, and I’d love to come back with my whole family.

    A Relaxing Holiday

    A private, adults-only retreat. Everything was wonderful, including the bath with views of the lush, beautiful garden and Ago Bay. We also loved the staff’s warm hospitality—attentive without being intrusive. The cuisine, focused on local ingredients, was thoughtfully crafted and full of delightful new discoveries. The matcha prepared for us in the tea room and the Ise tea were both refined and truly impressive.

    Excellent!

    We had a wonderful time. At dinner, we were served a rich tofu topped with cashews as one of the small side dishes—absolutely outstanding! I wanted to buy some to take home, but it’s homemade and not available for takeout. I really hope you’ll commercialize it! I’d subscribe regularly (haha). Breakfast was also excellent: your original rice is cooked in a pot and served fresh, along with homemade dried fish, steamed vegetables, and grated yam—so filling from the morning. The spacious grounds are beautifully maintained. The Japanese-modern feel of the Room, the open-air bath, and the calm atmosphere created by all the staff made this a place we’d like to visit regularly to enjoy each season. Thank you very much. (It was so delicious that I only managed to take photos of part of dinner; in reality, it was more than enough to leave us completely full.)

    Wonderful Accommodation

    This was my first stay, and I was completely satisfied with everything. The quantity and quality of the food, as well as the free private bath, were all excellent. I would definitely like to visit again!

    What is hospitality?

    I stayed on the solo traveler Plan. Although I had informed you in advance that I would check in around 4:00 PM, the Room I was shown was not cooled, so I assumed it had just been opened and waited for a while. When I tried to use the open-air bath attached to the Room, the vanity area in front of it was unbearably hot—like a sauna—and even after lowering both air conditioners to 19°C, it did not get cool at all. When I went to the private bath Reservation at 5:00 PM, the vanity area there was properly cooled and the air conditioner was set to 24°C. The rest of the building also felt cool. After finishing about 30 minutes later, there was a notice telling guests to contact the front desk, so I called twice but no one answered. Even after returning to my Room, it still wasn’t cool at all. Despite having taken a bath, I was sweating heavily again. I called the front desk again with no answer. On my fourth call—after a long ring—it finally connected. I informed them that I had finished using the private bath and that the Room’s air conditioning wasn’t working. One of the two units only blew air like a fan and did not cool. The other did blow cold air, but it was covered in dust and its filter was completely clogged with dust. Because I have a house-dust allergy, soon after arriving in the Room I started sneezing with a runny nose and an irritated throat, which now made sense. I told this to the staff member who came to my Room as well. They said they thought pouring water on the outdoor unit would make it work again, and that they would clean the dust-filled unit while I ate dinner at the dining area. I was shocked that no one seemed to have checked whether there were any issues with room temperature or Facility cleaning before check-in. Even though this is a solo traveler Plan, I understand that using one Room is expensive and made my Reservation knowing that—but paying JPY 120,000 for one night did not feel remotely worth it. It turned into an extremely disappointing trip. For dinner options, I had also ordered spiny lobster sashimi as an add-on; however, it wasn’t used for miso soup at all. For some reason, breakfast miso soup was pork miso soup instead. The private dining room also felt hot in the morning; although staff said they would lower the temperature, it never became comfortable by the end of our meal. They offered one complimentary glass of wine at dinner as an apology, but that is not what I wanted. I took time off specifically to relax here; however because of how uncomfortable my Room was (and because support from staff took so long), I could not relax at all. I wanted service—and a Room quality—that matched what we paid.

    It was my first visit in a while, and I was completely satisfied. I felt truly refreshed and relaxed. Thank you sincerely for checking the dinner menu with us in advance and for your thoughtful consideration. I was also impressed by how delicious the breakfast was.     Enjoy an Easy Ago Bay Cruise

    The Shuttle Service from Kashikojima Station in a white Mercedes wagon was very comfortable. First, we went to the Sazanami Lounge and enjoyed beer and rice crackers. A cruiser departs from near the Sazanami Lounge, and it was great that we could join the Ago Bay cruise empty-handed. Dinner was served in a fully private Room, so we could dine quietly. Although there is no large public bath, you can use a free private bath (once per Room). We used “Kuyuribiri.” The bath was spacious and clean, and the garden was beautifully illuminated. However, perhaps because of the garden lighting, it felt too dark inside the bath and seemed potentially unsafe. Also, although there was a hair dryer, there was only a comb and no brush, which was inconvenient. For some reason, the in-Room bath had sash windows with no blinds, so we hesitated to use it during daylight hours. The shower head also felt very old and we couldn’t adjust the water pressure. There was no wash basin either, which made it inconvenient. The layout of the property is quite complex. It’s a long walk from our Room to the Sazanami Lounge, so it might be difficult on rainy days. There were leaves floating on the water surface in front of the lounge. Also, between 24:00 and 26:00 we could hear men chatting loudly from next door along with noise through the walls, which was unpleasant.

    It lived up to its reputation.

    I’ve been staying more often at Accommodation with an in-room bath with an outside view, and this was the most comfortable stay I’ve had so far. The Room layout was very comfortable, and having multiple lounges was perfect for relaxing. The sweets and drinks offered changed depending on the time of day, so I went back several times. The meals were delicious, and the portions were just right. Dinner was a bit early, but they gave us a late-night snack, which we enjoyed in the Room while having drinks. The private bath was spacious, open and airy, and very clean. Since we visited during a typhoon, it would be even better if there were at least some roofing over the drop-off area. I’d love to visit again.

    The staff’s hospitality was wonderful!

    Thank you very much for taking care of us during our two-night Multiple Night Stay. My mother and I stayed with you, and we truly appreciate that you kindly accommodated our unreasonable requests—thank you so much! The meals were absolutely delicious, and we could feel the attention to detail in everything. The fresh local fish and vegetables were so good that we were genuinely impressed. We were also able to enjoy the bath in our Room many times, which allowed us to relax deeply. This is an Accommodation I would love to recommend to close family and friends. We would definitely like to stay again. When we do, we look forward to seeing you again.

    Starry Skies, Local Ingredients, and an Ago Bay Sunset Cruise

    To make the most of my first visit to Kashikojima, I stayed at this seaside villa for stargazing. The Room was comfortable, with a large window overlooking the sea right in front of me. Relaxing on the terrace while feeling the ocean breeze, and then spending a laid-back evening watching the starry sky from the rooftop terrace, was truly soothing. The meals featured local ingredients, and everything—vegetables, seafood, and Matsusaka beef—was outstanding. What impressed me most this time was conger eel grilled directly over Ise binchotan charcoal; it was incredibly fluffy with a texture I had never experienced before. Including breakfast, I was so amazed by how fresh the fish was that I ate too much and slightly regretted it. Overall it was a very satisfying stay, but here are a few personal points that stood out to me. First, the toilet in the Room: based on my experience with Accommodations in this class, it felt small and inconvenient—and an inward-opening door only made it more awkward. Some of the in-room equipment also seemed to be there just for appearance; there were audio/video devices but their purpose wasn’t clear. On top of that, even radio reception didn’t work—just white noise. As for amenities, the 3-blade razor won’t work for those who prefer wet shaving; many places now provide 5-blade razors instead. I’d like to see more consideration for male guests as well. The coffee is hand-drip style and tastes great, but honestly I don’t want to go through that much effort while traveling. Lastly, there’s an uphill slope between the main building and the Room—personally it felt a bit tough if you’ve been drinking (just my opinion). That said, I was able to spend my time very comfortably overall. The bed and bedding were excellent, and for the first time in a while I woke up feeling truly refreshed in the morning.     An Elegant Escape from the Everyday

    The service was excellent from the warm welcome at arrival to the send-off at departure. Overall it was very quiet, and except when needed—such as during meals—we rarely saw the Accommodation staff, which made it feel like a truly private space. The meals were luxurious; each dish was refined, and every broth-based item was especially delicious. We were told the head chef is very particular about the dashi. The spiny lobster oden was something we had never seen or tasted before, both in appearance and flavor. I understand availability is limited, but it was disappointing that the free private bath could only be used once. The ocean-view lounge allowed us to enjoy sweets and tea freely, and we were able to spend a very elegant time there. We would love to visit again.

    Not only did it exceed our expectations—it was an outstanding Accommodation far beyond what we imagined.

    This was my first visit to the Ise area, and I wasn’t sure which Accommodation to choose, but selecting Basara-tei was absolutely the right decision. From the staff’s attentive hospitality and the excellent lounge services, to the complimentary private Onsen, meals made with fresh and reliable local ingredients from partner farms, the guest room, amenities, views, museum-like art throughout the lobby and lounge interiors, and even the quality of the Onsen itself—everything was of a very high standard, making for an extremely satisfying stay. I debated a lot over which room to choose and whether to stay in a detached villa-style room, but I stayed in “Mori no Ni” and found it very comfortable. It felt like one night wasn’t enough, and next time I would definitely like a Multiple Night Stay. I also accidentally left something behind in my room, but they contacted me immediately before I even noticed and handled everything quickly, including shipping it back. I truly appreciate their thoughtful support as well.

    A Couple’s Trip to Visit Ise Shrine

    This Ryokan is so popular that it’s hard to get a Reservation, and I was thrilled to finally be able to visit. The location, meals, and the staff’s service were all excellent.

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. I have stayed at many Accommodations in Japan and abroad. To be honest, my impression was that it was commensurate with the price. However, I would like to note what stood out. - Staff upon arrival (Japanese staff) There was no attentiveness until I gave instructions regarding my luggage. - At reception Under the table where we checked in after arrival, there were noticeable crumbs from welcome sweets that were presumably spilled by the guest who checked in before me. - Meals This was critical. The sashimi was delicious, but there is significant room for improvement in the cooked items such as fish dishes. I think it would be better to visit other Ryokan and learn from them a bit more. (The food differed far too much from the photos used for promotion.) Aside from the welcome service, all staff interactions were pleasant. If the meals are not appealing, it will be difficult to return.

    Highly satisfied

    The four of us stayed for one night on a trip with female friends. Above all, the staff’s thoughtful hospitality was wonderful, and the meals were far from ordinary—each dish used local ingredients with an extra touch of creativity. The portions were just right, so we could enjoy everything deliciously to the very end. As for the baths, the one in our Room was also fed by free-flowing hot spring water and could be enjoyed anytime. In addition, the complimentary private bath was spacious enough for all four of us at once—about the size of a large public bath at a small Accommodation—and we were impressed by its fantastical lighting as well. We are a group of four seasoned travelers, but this became an unforgettable Accommodation that left everyone completely satisfied. Thank you very much.

    This is an Accommodation we return to again and again. Since we love drinks, they check in advance what we usually order, so it’s ready for us even without asking—nothing could make us happier. Each time, they also offer a recommended champagne at a great price.

    Executive status

    It was an absolutely wonderful one-night, two-day stay. The Room (high ceiling with no sense of confinement), meals (the wine pairing was outstanding), service, entrance, lobby, open-air bath (so spacious you could almost swim), lounge (the quiet seaside at dusk is lovely, though the clattering noise from the smoothie machine was a bit distracting), amenities (how comfortable the loungewear feels), the sofa on the veranda, and the futon (I love its texture)—everything was top-class in a way I’ve never experienced before. I regret arriving late for check-in. It truly made me realize what it means to experience something out of the ordinary.

    Best value-for-money accommodation

    This is an Accommodation I want to visit at least once a year—my satisfaction is always at the highest level. 　This year, a new salon had opened where we could enjoy delicious sencha and Japanese black tea. It had been a while since I last had such sweet, flavorful sencha. I also heard that a tea room where guests can enjoy matcha will open in April, and I’m looking forward to that next year as well. 　I’ve visited around this time for the past three years, and I always look forward to the in-Room open-air bath and the meals. It was truly refreshing. I was impressed by the impeccable manners in the Japanese-style Room shown by a staff member who seemed to have foreign roots. Their attentiveness was outstanding as well.

    Relaxing Onsen

    I was finally able to stay at the Accommodation I had admired for many years. From the welcome to the Room, meals, and Onsen, everything was truly outstanding. There were also several lounges, which was great. The open-air bath in the Room was especially amazing. Overall rating: 5. I’m looking for my next Accommodation, but it’s hard to find this level of quality at this price. Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing time.

    Truly wonderful.

    Everything was excellent in every way. In particular, the private open-air bath was spacious enough, and my wife and I were both very satisfied. For the first time in a while, we both agreed: “We definitely want to stay here again.” The food was delicious, with a wonderful sense of handcrafted creativity—we were truly impressed by and grateful for the chef’s skill.

    The Facility offers ...

    The Facility offers a wide range of amenities, including two lounges and a tea lounge. The Room has a calming Japanese-style atmosphere. The indoor bath and open-air bath do not allow temperature adjustment, so the open-air bath feels too lukewarm during cold nighttime hours. Dining felt rushed—possibly due to understaffing. We were kept waiting at the entrance, and even after ringing the call bell, staff took a long time to come. Because the charcoal grill area was crowded, we were asked to change the serving order and agreed, but it was switched back without our knowledge. Service was delayed, leaving us with barely enough time before our post-meal spa appointment. With luxury Hotels and Ryokans nearby, comparisons are inevitable. Overall, it felt worlds apart from Hiramatsu.

    A very relaxing Accommodation that we were completely satisfied with.

    With only a few Rooms, it never felt crowded, and we were able to enjoy a relaxing, luxurious stay. We also tried the private bath, but the open-air bath in our Room was more than enough and very satisfying. Every meal was carefully prepared and delicious. The staff were all highly professional as well—this Accommodation exceeded our expectations, and we would love to visit again.

    We visited with my parents to celebrate my father’s 90th birthday. Thanks to the thoughtful care of all the staff, my father, who has difficulty walking, was able to enjoy a wonderful time.
