    An Accommodation filled with refined aesthetics and heartfelt hospitality

    The refined Japanese-modern aesthetic—stripped of anything unnecessary—along with thoughtfully placed artwork throughout, was truly captivating. Spending time in the Room’s open-air bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water was pure bliss. I was also impressed by the high quality of the in-Room amenities, including a Dyson hair dryer and BOSE speakers. The cuisine, presented with a menu listing only the ingredients, was exciting from the start; not only were the flavors deeply satisfying, but the harmony with Kutani ware—such as pieces by Shunzo Masaki—was outstanding. The seasonal sweets and hospitality at the tea lounge also had a unique charm unlike anywhere else, making for an unforgettable memory. As a small suggestion, having an option for relaxing loungewear such as samue in addition to yukata as stay attire might make it even more comfortable. I was able to fully immerse myself in a truly high-quality experience and am sincerely satisfied. I look forward to returning again in another season.

    Traveling with my parents

    Because it is a well-known long-established Ryokan, I had decided to stay here when visiting Yamanaka Onsen. The Facility was clean and well maintained after renovations, but the meals were disappointing—especially the breakfast, which was terrible. It got to the point where someone even said, “We should have chosen the cheaper buffet Ryokan next door.” It was a learning experience in many ways.

    Head to the long-awaited Kaga Onsen by Hokuriku Shinkansen for your wedding anniversary.

    We were very concerned to hear on the news that heavy rain and flooding occurred in Kanazawa and Fukui starting the day after we returned to Tokyo. This time, we stayed at Hanamurasaki for two nights and were able to fully enjoy an Accommodation rich in atmosphere—such as the wonderful open-air bath on the top floor, the spacious Room, and the washi-paper interior design. We also had a blissful, satisfying time with tea at the tea lounge, shaved ice, and a full-course Kaga cuisine meal served on beautiful Yamanaka lacquerware and Kutani ware. On the second day, we drove a rental car to Fukui to visit Eiheiji Temple and the Dinosaur Museum. Also, although a sake brewery in Yamanaka Onsen was temporarily closed so we couldn’t purchase anything there ourselves, thanks to your kind help we were able to obtain what we wanted, for which we are truly grateful. We enjoy tea every day in the lovely Yamanaka lacquerware teacup we bought at your shop.

    We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. In short, it was a wonderful stay that far exceeded our expectations, and we are truly grateful. Not only were the atmosphere of the Accommodation and the Onsen excellent, but above all, we were deeply moved by the warm and attentive hospitality of all the staff. They took great care of us throughout our stay, and my husband kept saying how glad he was that we came. Each dish was prepared with great care, beautifully presented, and perfect for a special-occasion dinner. Thanks to you, we were able to create unforgettable birthday memories.     A Ryokan where you can experience a new kind of value

    We stayed here to celebrate his birthday. I had long dreamed of visiting this Accommodation, so I was truly looking forward to it—and the experience exceeded my expectations in every way. Personally, I’m not usually comfortable with the atmosphere of a traditional Ryokan, but Hanamurasaki pleasantly changed that impression. The Room was a refined, modern space, yet it also felt warmly relaxing. Even down to the amenities and small details, everything matched a contemporary sense of comfort while still offering the calmness and attentiveness unique to a Ryokan. Above all, the view from our Room was breathtaking. Watching the scenery slowly change over time—accompanied only by insects chirping and the sounds of wind and water—felt incredibly luxurious. I even forgot about my smartphone entirely and was able to savor unhurried time and conversation, which became a cherished memory. The in-room Onsen was also wonderful: an unexpectedly spacious bath with an exceptional sense of openness. From soaking while taking in the view to simply enjoying the moment, it truly felt like pure indulgence. Dinner was served as a course meal, enjoyable not only for its flavors but also for its beautiful tableware and presentation. We could fully appreciate local tastes and seasonal touches, and we were very satisfied. Thank you as well for kindly accommodating ingredients I don’t eat. Another highlight was the hospitality from all of the staff. It never felt excessive—always natural—yet their thoughtful attention could be felt throughout our stay. Beyond the sophisticated space and cuisine, I believe this Accommodation’s greatest charm is also its human warmth. A modern, polished setting combined with warmth that only a Ryokan can offer—the two coexisted so comfortably that “a place where you can experience a new value in what a Ryokan can be” felt like exactly the right description. This trip was chosen to celebrate his birthday, but before I knew it I had completely fallen in love with Hanamurasaki (laugh). I’m truly glad we chose it for such an important occasion. Thank you for such a wonderful stay beyond expectations. It has become an Accommodation we’ll treasure—and one we’d love to return to in another season.

    It became a wonderful memory for us as a couple.

    At the tea lounge, a staff member prepared the tea right in front of me. They followed each step carefully, and I was truly impressed watching them. The male staff member who assisted with our meal also worked very hard to take care of us. I did wish dinner had a bit more volume, but everything was refined and easy to enjoy without worrying about calories. It was delicious. In some places, the Accommodation’s age showed through, but the renovated areas (the lobby, tea lounge, and dining area) are clean with a nice design. The younger staff may not yet have that seasoned presence you often see in veterans, but everyone was earnest and courteous, which left a great impression. Pleasant service is important for an Accommodation. From welcome to farewell, it became a memorable part of our Hokuriku trip.

    We had a comfortable and relaxing stay.

    The meals were delicately seasoned yet full of umami—truly delicious. I’ve stayed at many Ryokan, and this may have been the best. The soup dish in particular was outstanding. The sake pairing was also a great value and matched the cuisine perfectly. We upgraded our Room for a small additional fee, and the “Summer 3” Room was modern, spacious, and beautifully decorated with lovely art. We also enjoyed the white bean shaved ice and Japanese black tea to the fullest. I would definitely like to visit again. The staff were very pleasant, and the male staff member at the dining area looked wonderful in his hakama attire.

    It was excellent.

    We had a wonderful holiday. The open-air bath was amazing—the view and the water were both excellent, and one night didn’t feel like enough. The meals were delicious, and although the grilled oysters we were introduced to along the way were expensive, they were well worth it. Every side dish for the rice was tasty, and we bought a few to take home and are enjoying them now. We’d love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    The Accommodation was filled with modern art. Although it seemed to host quite a few guests, surprisingly the large public bath was never crowded. The meals were also delicious.

    Not suitable for elderly guests.

    We love Onsen, and Hanamurasaki was very attentive. However, the Diamond Member benefit we received was a 3,000 yen voucher for food and drinks at the tea lounge. We arrived in the evening, enjoyed the Onsen, and had a delicious dinner that left us full. With a relaxed breakfast in the morning, as elderly guests we were unable to use the tea lounge voucher before check-out. We were also told it could not be used at the shop, so unfortunately the Diamond Member benefit we had been looking forward to felt pointless and disappointing.

    Warm hospitality

    The meals at this Accommodation were all delicious, and we left completely satisfied. When we mentioned at the time of our Reservation that we were celebrating, a whole cake was served at the end of the meal! It was also very tasty, and we somehow found room for it (lol). Above all, we truly appreciated your thoughtful hospitality. At the tea lounge as well, the lightly salted ice cream, roasted green tea ice cream, and mascarpone shaved ice were all wonderfully creative and delicious—we enjoyed everything to the very end!

    I was able to spend a relaxing Obon holiday.

    We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of two nights during the Obon holidays and were able to relax. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and the menus for both meals were completely different from the previous day. Since we don’t eat very much, the portion sizes were just right and we didn’t order any additional dishes. The drink menu during meals was also extensive, with a good variety of sake, so we enjoyed trying different ones over the two days. My Room rating of 4 is because the view wasn’t as nice as I expected (since it’s along the river, I assumed we would have a more dynamic river view), because humidity was still noticeable with a first-floor riverside Room, and because I would have preferred double sinks in the wash area. As mentioned in other Reviews, I felt that having an overly large Room may be unavoidable due to renovations. The service was attentive as well, so this is an Accommodation I would recommend.

    Our Family’s Favorite Place — Hanamurasaki

    I visit Yamanaka Onsen twice a year, in March and August. In this beloved hometown filled with cherished memories, there is a Ryokan that continues to evolve while preserving elegance, healing comfort, unhurried time, and warmth. That is Hanamurasaki. Each time I visit, I fully enjoy the changes and leave feeling completely recharged. When it was selected for IKYU Plus+, among so many Hotels and Ryokan, I remember feeling as happy as if it were my own achievement—and truly proud. Yamanaka Onsen may be compact, but it’s packed with all the little things you wish a town had, making it perfect for creating memories. For one page of your journey shared with someone special, I wholeheartedly recommend staying at Hanamurasaki.     My long-held wish has finally come true.

    Ever since a senior colleague at work told me, “The food is amazing—I highly recommend it,” I’d been wanting to visit for about three years, and this time my wish finally came true. I stayed with my parents, and they were both very satisfied. What left the biggest impression was the open-air Onsen on the 7th floor. Maybe we were just lucky with the timing, but we had it all to ourselves and could relax and enjoy the Onsen at our own pace. The view was truly stunning, and the sense of openness felt wonderful. I also really liked the amenities. The meals were as delicious as their reputation suggests. I was reminded just how good Ishikawa Koshihikari rice can be, and the sweet-simmered ayu (sweetfish) was especially memorable since I’d never had it before. The Kaga hojicha meringues we bought at the gift shop were also excellent—we finished them in no time. The complimentary ice cream, welcome drink, and sweets served with tea were all delicious too, so we enjoyed ourselves even outside of mealtimes. Most guests were calm, mature adults, which made it easy to spend a relaxing time throughout the property. I’m so glad we finally made it after three years—it became a wonderful family memory. Thank you for such a lovely stay. We would love to visit again.

    It was wonderful.

    I’d always wanted to stay here, so I made a Reservation for our anniversary. The interior was truly beautiful, and the space was spotless down to every detail—very comfortable and pleasant. The bath and open-air bath were both wonderfully open and relaxing. The meals were elaborate and delicious—I ended up eating too much. The staff member who served us was wonderful, and I was happy they remembered it was our anniversary, which I had mentioned briefly in advance. My husband, who stayed with me, was also very pleased. I’d love to stay again on another special occasion. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

    Generational changeover

    A renewed Accommodation under new management. When we arrived by rental car, we were greeted with, “Are you here for the workshop?” Tired from traveling, I couldn’t respond cheerfully and simply said “We’re staying overnight,” without much expression. With fond memories of the charm and atmosphere of the old building—and that first impression in the parking area—I casually wondered if I would visit again. However, I was captivated by the work of a glass artist who was there for a workshop, so I decided to join. The Room where it was held felt like a calm corner of an art museum. I chose Hanamurasaki mainly for the Onsen and meals, but today Hanamurasaki also lets you experience Japanese culture and art up close. Of course, the cuisine was exceptional and soothed all five senses. I rated the Facility and guest Room 3 stars because I noticed a plumbing odor—perhaps because this time it was a standard Room rather than my previous one, or due to summer or its location. Still, it has become one of the Accommodations I would like to stay at again when I have the chance.

    Impressive attention to detail

    Staying here this time truly reminded me what genuine hospitality means. You stayed close in a quiet, unobtrusive way—never overstepping, yet always watching over us with warmth. That perfectly comfortable sense of distance made it easy to relax, and I was able to spend my time slowly, wrapped in kindness. Each dish was prepared with great care. Beyond the beautiful presentation, the seasonal flavors were deeply satisfying and filled my heart as well. Every time a course arrived, I found myself thinking, “What will the next plate be like?” It was a wonderful experience that delighted all five senses. I was also happy that the staff addressed me by name—it made me feel this Accommodation truly values each guest as an individual. I had missed my chance to use the after-bath ice cream voucher, but someone gently said, “You haven’t had it yet, have you?” Thanks to that thoughtful reminder, I was able to enjoy it at the end. It may seem like a small gesture, but that consideration felt so warm and became an unforgettable memory. The staff member who took care of us had such a lovely smile—just seeing it made me feel happy too. You also kindly accommodated our unreasonable request without hesitation, which helped make an important moment even more special for us. The Accommodation itself, the Onsen, the cuisine—and above all, the hospitality of every staff member. Everything left a lasting impression and made for an irreplaceable stay. “It makes me want to come back.” This is a wonderful Accommodation that naturally makes you feel that way.     It was wonderful.

    I visited with five family members: my elderly parents, my sister, and my niece. It seems my mother and sister had stayed here together long ago, but that was before the renovation, so they said it felt completely different from Hanamurasaki today. For a Ryokan, it was surprisingly stylish—modern and sophisticated. The hospitality was excellent, and the meals were delicious. I would love to visit again.

    It was very good.

    From the Shuttle Service to the station to the front desk and dining staff, everyone provided exceptionally courteous service. The front desk, tea lounge, Room, open-air bath, and large public bath were all wonderful. The hot spring water felt great—so much so that after bathing, it almost seemed like you wouldn’t even need lotion. Above all, the meals were outstanding. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent: superb seafood and mountain delicacies, high-quality ingredients, perfect seasoning, and generous portions. This Accommodation is one I would gladly return to just for the food alone.

    I finally had the chance to stay at this Accommodation I had long admired. There was an impressive variety of teas, and even though I don’t drink alcohol, I was able to enjoy myself. When I asked the staff about the teas, they explained everything clearly and their attentive service truly impressed me. Artworks were displayed throughout the property, and the dining area was a wonderful space. The food was also outstanding—each dish was highly creative and unlike anything you can find elsewhere. The Room was stylish in monochrome yet very comfortable, making for a truly satisfying stay. I would love to visit again.

    It was a relaxing accommodation.

    We visited as a family of three. After arriving, we enjoyed shaved ice and a matcha highball at the tea lounge in the lobby, which helped us unwind. We relaxed in the open-air rooftop bath while listening to insects, then it was time for dinner. The dining area was beautifully designed, with private spaces separated by wooden latticework and washi paper screens. Every dish at dinner was exquisite, and the tableware and presentation were outstanding; the staff who served us were also attentive, and we were completely satisfied. We thoroughly enjoyed everything along with delicious local sake. After dinner, we took our time warming up in the spacious public bath and had a very relaxing evening. The teacup used at breakfast was so lovely that we bought one as a souvenir at the shop. My son also gave me a Kutani ware glass from dinner as a gift, which became a wonderful memory. This is an excellent Accommodation that we would love to visit again.

    My wife’s birthday became an unforgettable memory for a lifetime.

    We stayed here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The staff prepared the champagne, cake, and bouquet I had requested in advance at exactly the right moment, and the surprise was a great success. My wife—who rarely cries—was so happy she teared up, and it became an unforgettable memory for us. We also loved the incense we received as a celebratory gift, and even at home it brings back memories of our time at Hanamurasaki. Both dinner and breakfast were thoughtfully prepared dish by dish, allowing us to fully appreciate the quality of the ingredients. In our room with an open-air bath, we could enjoy the Onsen as many times as we liked at any hour, and truly relax. Of course, the Facility and cuisine were excellent, but what makes this Accommodation special is the heartfelt hospitality of the staff who genuinely care for each guest. It was a wonderful Ryokan where you can confidently entrust an important anniversary with someone special. We would love to return again for another milestone in life.

    It was an excellent accommodation.

    This was a wonderful Accommodation in the charming setting of Yamanaka Onsen, beautifully blending traditional character with modern style. The hospitality in the tea lounge, the delicious dishes made with seasonal Hokuriku ingredients, and the excellent service from all staff allowed us to forget everyday life and enjoy a truly relaxing time. In particular, the panoramic open-air bath on the 7th floor offered breathtaking views. We would love to visit again.

    An Accommodation offering refined hospitality to delight all five senses

    Three friends and I stayed here, and it was a thoroughly satisfying experience from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a drink in a refined, museum-like lobby. The original herbal tea—made with local tea leaves blended with shiso and sudachi—along with traditional sweets, was a wonderful touch that truly made us feel, “We’re in Kaga!” The guest room had a simple, calming design, yet featured artwork on the walls, creating an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. The view from the window was beautiful as well, and we were able to relax and enjoy an unhurried stay. We used both the large public bath and the rooftop open-air Onsen, but the rooftop bath left the strongest impression. The view was spectacular, and the space—gently scented with flowers—was incredibly soothing; it was truly blissful. Dinner was kaiseki cuisine showcasing seasonal local ingredients. Each dish—centered around fish and vegetables—was prepared with great care. It was generously portioned without feeling heavy, so we enjoyed everything through to the end. We also requested a sake pairing; each selection complemented the food beautifully and made the meal even more enjoyable. If I could suggest one thing, it would be even better if there were brief explanations of each sake’s characteristics and why it was paired with each dish. Breakfast also impressed us. In addition to dishes featuring local ingredients such as warm vegetables, nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), and dried firefly squid, there were plenty of rice accompaniments—and I couldn’t stop eating rice (I ended up having 5–6 extra bowls!). It’s been a long time since I’ve been this satisfied with breakfast at a Ryokan. Thanks to the warm hospitality of all staff members and their thoughtful guidance on nearby sightseeing spots, our trip was comfortable and memorable. When I visit Ishikawa again, I would love to return. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

    An artful accommodation serving exquisite cuisine on Kutani ware and Yamanaka lacquerware.

    In mid-June, my spouse and I stayed for one night on an in-Room dining Plan from Tokyo. When we arrived at the Accommodation by the pick-up car from Kagaonsen Station, the staff member was already waiting outside. After entering, we checked in while enjoying tea and sweets, and were then shown to our Room. Everything was smooth and gave the impression of being very well organized. From the Room we could look down over Kakusenkei Gorge, and when we opened the window, the sound of the Daishoji River flowing and the waterfall striking the surface of the water was deeply soothing. The meals—our biggest highlight—were even more delicious than we had imagined. We enjoyed each dish with admiration, beautifully presented on Kutani ware and Yamanaka lacquerware. Some Accommodations have a great dinner but an average breakfast; here, breakfast impressed us just as much as dinner in terms of quality dish by dish. The same attendant served both dinner and breakfast; she was delightful, and answered every question about ingredients and tableware with great care. I had assumed some questions might require her to check first, but she responded accurately to everything, which truly impressed me. The entire staff were highly professional, making our stay wonderful. We would love to visit again in another season.

    It turned into a wonderful anniversary.

    We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. When we arrived at the Accommodation and stepped inside, we found a calm, modern space that still retained a Japanese atmosphere. From the moment of check-in, we felt excited about our stay. As we made our way to the Room, it was so spacious it almost felt too luxurious for just two people, and we were able to spend our time in great comfort. In particular, the open-air bath in the guest room was designed to overlook Kakusenkei Gorge, and we enjoyed a refreshing soak from early morning. This time, the fresh greenery was lush, and we were able to take in the vivid green scenery. Both dinner and breakfast were extremely satisfying. The menu featured many local ingredients such as Kaga vegetables and seafood sourced from Hashidate Fishing Port, allowing us to fully experience the charm of Ishikawa. Breakfast also offered many dishes that paired perfectly with rice, and my wife and I left feeling completely full even in the morning. We truly felt that this cuisine is one of the main reasons guests want to return. Just before our visit, we learned that my wife was pregnant and informed you during the pre-stay confirmation. Not only did you kindly accommodate requests such as thoroughly cooked meals, but at dinner a staff member also offered encouraging words along with a safe childbirth amulet from a local shrine. Throughout our stay, you consistently looked after my wife’s condition, for which we are deeply grateful. We believe this thoughtful attention tailored to each guest is another wonderful quality of Hanamurasaki. Thank you again for all your kindness. Our stay was so wonderful that we are already talking about coming back once my wife’s pregnancy has settled down and things have calmed down a bit. Thank you very much for helping us spend such a special anniversary. Next time, we would love to enjoy Hanamurasaki in another season as well—perhaps during autumn foliage or winter snow scenery.

    We truly had a wonderful time.

    We chose this property for a special commemorative trip because the Room was exactly what we were looking for. We love saunas, so having a sauna in the Room that we could enjoy together, fresh outdoor air coming into the relaxation area, a cold plunge bath, and an open-air bath—all of it was perfectly in place. Once we arrived, we were amazed at how spacious the Room was—almost too much for just two people. As an art-themed Room, it was stylish and truly artistic. The sauna, which was our main highlight, exceeded expectations; we did multiple rounds and felt genuinely refreshed from the bottom of our hearts. The meals were also delicious, and we could dine in a private space like a personal room, which made it very comfortable. We were also very happy with how politely and thoughtfully all the staff treated us. We felt that our age and experience didn’t quite match such a high-level stay yet, but even so, we really appreciated being treated with such care. From dishes we had never tried before to a wonderful Room unlike anywhere we’ve stayed before, it was an incredibly valuable experience—and it became a truly important and joyful memory for us. Thank you very much! We’ll work hard so that we can come back to stay again!
