    A quiet, relaxing Hotel

    This was my third stay. After visiting the five Togakushi Shrines, I spend one night in Karuizawa to rest and recover before heading home, and I always choose this Hotel. The reason I keep coming back is the food—it’s truly delicious. Dinner is authentic French cuisine, and breakfast offers French toast or a salad breakfast. Dinner is consistently excellent quality every time. For breakfast, I always find myself torn between the salad breakfast and the French toast—the vegetables are so fresh, and the French toast has a classic, traditional flavor. The property is clean and relaxing, and the Room is very comfortable and easy to use. The bed firmness suits me perfectly, so I sleep soundly. The Hotel is surrounded by lush forest greenery as well—perfect for a refreshing forest walk. This is my go-to Accommodation in Karuizawa.

    It’s quiet.

    I was surprised by how small the front desk area was, but the staff were very courteous—just what you’d expect from an Okura-affiliated hotel. They also arranged a bicycle rental right away, and I really enjoyed exploring the area! The Room had a few small bits of trash here and there, but overall it was clean. However, I would have preferred separate slippers for the toilet. Alternatively, disposable spare slippers would have worked. It would have been even better if there had been a large public bath! Breakfast was delicious.

    I was able to spend a quiet, relaxing time.

    Because the Reviews were highly rated, this was my first stay. In conclusion, as the title says, we were able to spend quiet, relaxing time with our family, and we were very satisfied. The meals were delicious, and we enjoyed every dish of the full-course dinner. If I had one request, the bed was a little firm, so I would have preferred it to be a bit softer. In any case, I would like to stay here again the next time we visit Karuizawa.

    I stayed for one nig...

    I stayed for one night on my way back from checking in on my mother at my family home, where I live apart. I was exhausted, but the staff’s warm hospitality and delicious meals truly helped me relax. For breakfast, I chose the salad breakfast. It was quite a generous portion, but I finished it all while admiring the careful preparation. After check-out, I even came back again and enjoyed lunch as well. The pieris in the garden was also very soothing. I would love to visit again during the autumn foliage season.

    High-quality Hotel

    A Hotel quietly tucked away deep in a villa area. I was satisfied with the tranquility and delicious meals. The staff kept a respectful distance in a calm way, yet were gently kind. Silver raindrops fell on the trees beginning to awaken from winter dormancy. Dinner was carefully prepared, beautifully presented, and delicious—I was very satisfied. Breakfast was also excellent. However, at check-in, one male staff member was sniffling with a runny nose... that is not good. Overall, my satisfaction level was high, so I would like to visit again.

    Exceptional service and hospitality

    This was my second stay. During my previous stay, I posted a small review with some feedback, and at check-in this time, I was asked, "If you have time, could you share more details to help improve our services?" While many accommodations may respond to reviews but not follow up further, this hotel stood out. They genuinely checked customer feedback and made efforts to address it. During this stay, I enjoyed services that took my previous feedback into account and had a very comfortable experience. In particular, the warm smile and gestures of the male staff member with glasses who served jasmine tea in the lounge reflected the hospitality of a long-established hotel.

    Quiet and serene atmosphere

    About 10 minutes by taxi from Karuizawa Station, located quietly in the forest. As expected from the Okura group, the staff provided courteous service. The room was clean and spacious enough. If I had to mention something, the water pressure in the shower was a bit weak. The meals were very delicious, making it a highly satisfying accommodation!

    The hotel was clean, quiet, and elegant. All the equipment and amenities were of high quality, providing a sense of satisfaction with attention to detail. Before Christmas, the garden illumination visible from the room was soothing. The calm and gentle service of the staff was also pleasant, making it a hotel I would definitely like to use again.

    Family Trip

    It was our first family trip. The Hotel was clean, the service and staff were kind and attentive. Most importantly, the dinner and breakfast were truly delicious. As expected from our prior research, it lived up to its reputation as a Hotel with great food. The view was wonderful, allowing us to relax, and the late checkout is a plus. We would love to visit again with our family for another meal!

    Experience Okura Hospitality in Old Karuizawa

    Stayed for one night on a weekday after the November holiday. Visited a friend's restaurant in Naka-Karuizawa to enjoy delicious grilled dishes, and after stopping by the Fujita Tsuguharu exhibition at the Ando Museum, we initially planned to return directly to our mountain lodge in Tateshina. However, as crossing the pass after 3 PM meant facing sub-zero temperatures, we decided for safety reasons to stay overnight in Karuizawa and chose Hotel Kajima no Mori. We enjoyed a high-quality dinner and breakfast the next morning while taking in the serene late autumn scenery transitioning into winter. Our stay in a first-floor Room facing a beautifully lit Christmas garden was very comfortable. An unexpected highlight was spotting bears within the hotel grounds! It reminded us of how deeply nestled this area is within nature despite being close to Old Karuizawa. This impromptu one-night trip left us deeply impressed once again with Okura's exceptional management quality.

    Repeat Accommodation

    I visit every year, 2 to 3 times without fail. Everything is perfect, including the Room, meals, hospitality service, restaurant, lounge, and location. Someday, I hope to stay for a week during the summer. Thank you again in advance!

    First night: In-room...

    First night: In-room dining. Second night: Full-course dinner accommodation. The interior of the accommodation and guest rooms is not overly luxurious but offers a quiet and calming atmosphere. The view from the window features beautiful lawns during the day, and at night, subtle and elegant Christmas illuminations can be enjoyed. Although I requested low-sodium meals, it seemed difficult for this hotel to accommodate all dishes accordingly. However, none of the dishes were overly salty, so they were acceptable overall. The timing of meal service was appropriate without long waits. On a personal note, I found the backrest of the dining chairs uncomfortable as it pressed against my back, making it hard to relax fully. I wonder if cushions are available? Since I plan to revisit, I'll inquire about this next time. Service was neither too intrusive nor too distant. However, service by staff who appeared to be in training felt slightly disappointing for a hotel of this class—this impression was particularly strong with in-room dining service. Additionally, when using the lounge terrace and ordering tea, it would have been nice if teapot covers were provided to keep the tea warm longer.

    A Reliable and Established Hotel

    We decided on a sudden one-night stay as a couple during the peak autumn foliage season. The location is excellent, within walking distance to the famous Kumoba Pond for autumn leaves. The service was impeccable, as expected from the Okura group. Although public spaces are limited, the Room was spacious and had a calm, quiet atmosphere where we could relax comfortably. The meals were delightful, especially dinner, which was both delicious and generously portioned. In an era with many new types of Hotels emerging, this stay reminded us of the charm of traditional Hotels. Highly recommended for middle-aged and older guests!

    We stayed as a couple. When we were shown to our Room and mentioned it was for our wedding anniversary, we were surprised with a "Happy Anniversary" plate on the dessert during dinner! Such thoughtful attention made us very happy and grateful. Dinner was served in half portions but was more than sufficient, with the tomato soup and fillet poêlé being particularly delicious. From our Room, we enjoyed the view of autumn leaves in vibrant yellow and red hues. The Facility was clean, well-maintained, and provided a luxurious Hotel stay where we could relax at ease. Upon checkout, we received advice on a spot to enjoy a full view of Mount Asama, which made our trip even more fulfilling. Thank you very much! We would love to visit again if given the opportunity.

    Top-notch quality even after the renovation.

    Stayed again in summer after a long time and revisited in autumn due to the pleasant environment. Both the accommodation and meals maintained high quality, so I made a reservation for spring next. This is the only hotel in Karuizawa I revisit, enjoying a quiet vacation. All staff are friendly with just the right sense of distance.

    Amidst the Best Scenery

    I stayed on a dinner-free Plan as I was visiting a friend living in Karuizawa, so my time at the Hotel was short. The Hotel had a simple and clean design, making my stay very comfortable. I appreciated that breakfast could be changed to brunch, allowing me to enjoy it at a relaxed pace without feeling rushed. The brunch exceeded my expectations with its generous portions, and I could empty my mind while admiring the picturesque view from the window. The hot sandwich was incredibly delicious! There is also a beautiful pond nearby, which made for an enjoyable morning walk. Above all, having a 12:00 PM checkout time was the best part for me. Highly recommended for solo female travelers looking for a relaxing getaway!

    The building itself is not brand new, but it is thoroughly cleaned in every corner, and its convenient location made for an incredibly comfortable stay. The meals were absolutely delicious, and the timing of the service was perfect, showcasing the high standards of the Hotel. Although it is not a new Hotel, the building and furniture are tasteful without unnecessary extravagance, which adds to its charm. We recommend staying in the spacious Royal Suite for an even more enjoyable experience. The autumn leaves in the garden were truly stunning, making it an incredibly pleasant stay.     It was a one-night stay, but the location near Kumoba Pond and Karuizawa Ginza was very convenient. The Room was clean, with new furnishings, making it a comfortable stay.     As expected of a Hotel under the Okura brand.

    As expected from a hotel in the Okura group, it is understated yet exudes an elegant and calm atmosphere. The building seems old, but the interior has been beautifully renovated, making for a pleasant stay. With not too many rooms, it’s perfect for those who want to spend their time quietly and leisurely. Above all, the meals were exceptionally delicious. Since I can't eat much, I opted for the half-portion course, but from appetizers to fish dishes and meat dishes, everything was meticulously prepared with excellent seasoning that I thoroughly enjoyed. For breakfast the next morning, I chose the American breakfast which included omelets, ham, bacon, sausages, bread, jam, juice—all carefully selected items that reflected their commitment to quality even in breakfast offerings. It would have been perfect if there was an Onsen; however, considering Karuizawa has very few Onsens available anyway—it can’t be helped!

    It was a quiet and nice Hotel.

    In recent years, I have been staying in Karuizawa to see the autumn leaves, but this was my first time at this Hotel. Unfortunately, it was a bit early for the autumn foliage, but the Hotel was quiet, calm, and had a very pleasant atmosphere. The meals were delicious, and the Room was clean and comfortable. The staff's hospitality was excellent as well, and I would love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    An elegant and tranquil Hotel nestled in the forest

    I arrived much earlier than the check-in time, but I was kindly guided to my Room, which was very helpful. When I consulted the front concierge about lunch, they kindly recommended a local soba restaurant frequented by locals, allowing me to enjoy delicious soba without waiting in line. The Hotel itself had a historic charm but was tastefully renovated in all the right places, making it very comfortable. Above all, the location was stunningly beautiful. The guests were composed of calm and mature individuals, and I would love to stay here again next time.

    Autumn Foliage in Karuizawa

    We celebrated my wife's birthday by strolling through the autumn foliage in Karuizawa, enjoying shopping at the outlet mall and Tsuruya, and spending a relaxing time. Of course, we were fully satisfied with the delicious cuisine, sommelier-recommended wine, and birthday cake. The thoughtful gestures from the staff, including a birthday message card, made us appreciate this Hotel even more. The lighting of the giant Christmas tree was also a memorable highlight.     The accommodation is calm and often used by older guests. The rooms are new, clean, spacious, and comfortable. Meals were served as a half-course, which was perfect for those who prefer smaller portions. For dinner, the fish dish could use a bit more creativity to enhance the overall experience. Breakfast was delightful, especially the French toast. It’s conveniently located near Kumoba Pond, just a short ride away by rental bicycle.
