A Moment of Bliss
The staff were very courteous, the hotel was spacious and quiet, and the food was delicious. We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing stay.

The garden view from the first-floor room was lovely too.
My favorite is the front-facing double room on the second floor, but the garden views from the first-floor rooms are also lovely. The glass of wine delivered to my room was excellent, too. Karuizawa is truly beautiful when the first snow begins to fall, during the autumn foliage season, and when the cherry blossoms bloom—it feels like being in Germany. The ducks at Kumoba Pond always offer something different to watch. This time, I saw a family slowly making their way back to their resting place in a line at dusk. Since I travel alone, I find it a little difficult to dine at the restaurant, but the food is simply delicious. I especially enjoyed the smoked rainbow trout and consommé soup. On a somewhat unrelated note, the bread at French Bakery in Old Karuizawa is every bit as delicious as its reputation suggests. The “Tortilla Sausage” is my top recommendation!

A hotel where you can truly unwind
When people judge or review something, their comments reflect their own interests, circumstances, and personal preferences. But if I were to assess Hotel Kajima no Mori in terms of life's meaning and how we choose to live, I would call it an ideal hotel. It is worth making a special trip to stay here. During my stay, the guests were refined ladies and gentlemen and quiet seniors, making for an elegant atmosphere. Guests treated the hotel's belongings with care, and the staff responded with kindness and courtesy. The beautifully maintained gardens were also a delight. An incredible amount of effort must go into their upkeep. The hotel truly belongs in this upscale villa district. I was told that the owner has excellent taste, which explains why. Perhaps that is what put my mind at ease. Thank you. My stay was so blissful that I wanted to create a photo collection of the landscapes that touched my heart. Please note: this is not a hotel for lively partying or noisy entertainment.

I had a comfortable stay on my first visit to Karuizawa in a long time.
I finally had the chance to spend a night at this hotel in Karuizawa, where I had long wanted to stay. The hotel is excellent, and the location is ideal. Early morning walks to Kumoba Pond and Old Karuizawa, surrounded by lush greenery, were so refreshing. The quiet, peaceful atmosphere made it easy to unwind, just as I had hoped. It was a wonderful stay. I only had breakfast this time, but I would love to return and enjoy dinner as well.

A cozy and comfortable hotel!
I have stayed at this favorite hotel several times. It is the perfect place to relax surrounded by greenery, away from the bustle of Karuizawa. All the staff are pleasant, and I appreciate their respectful sense of distance. It is a hotel I would like to visit again.

We stayed for one ni...
We stayed for one night on a weekday in October. Both dinner and breakfast were served in our room. The portions were just right for us as a couple in our 60s. The coffee in the pot was more than enough for two, and we enjoyed it hot and delicious for a long time. All of the amenities were excellent. The best part was having a small tube of toothpaste. Of course, we took the rest home with us. We appreciated being able to use it without waste.

A popular annual stay
I managed to make it here again this year. However, since the calendar lined up for a five-day holiday, there were traffic jams everywhere and it took quite a long time to get around. In contrast to the hustle and bustle of the holiday crowds, I can truly relax in the calm atmosphere of Kashima Forest. It’s an authentic hotel without any flashiness, yet it has a certain ambience that feels almost like a private villa. It rained throughout my stay this year, but that actually allowed me to take things slowly and unwind. Next year as well...

You can relax and unwind at your own pace.
This was my second stay, following last year’s visit. I was very fortunate to be upgraded to a suite this time. (The room was spacious with a living area, and the bathroom had both a bathtub and a separate washing area, so I could enjoy a relaxing bath.) The dinner main course—beef fillet—was absolutely delicious. Breakfast was also excellent. It seems there is a tall Japanese chestnut tree in the garden, and many chestnuts still in their spiky husks had fallen to the ground. During the season of prolonged September rains, we were lucky enough to catch a brief spell of sunshine and enjoy a very peaceful time. Thank you very much.

It’s a nice hotel.
With my wife’s birthday coming up again this year, we visited Karuizawa, a place filled with memories for the two of us. We were blessed with great weather and enjoyed a relaxing stay—taking walks and cycling around Karuizawa as the autumn leaves began to change, and spending time shopping. We were also very pleased with the thoughtful hospitality from the hotel staff, including a birthday message card, as well as the delicious food, our favorite wine, and the birthday cake. For us as a couple, this is truly a wonderful hotel.

Highly satisfied
There were four of us. Even though it had been raining every day, the weather was perfectly clear for these two days. We were truly moved by how beautiful the greenery in the hotel courtyard was. The scones and tea served with brunch were a hit—everyone said they were the best they’d ever had. The venison curry for lunch was incredibly tender, and we agreed it’s something you can only enjoy here. There were plenty of amenities as well, and we were more than satisfied with the girls’ getaway plan. Thank you very much for your hospitality, and our sincere thanks to all of the staff.

A Wonderful Hotel Worthy of Karuizawa
We stayed for multiple nights. Surrounded by a tranquil forest, it was an impeccable hotel where we could truly relax and enjoy an escape from everyday life. The excellent location, the spacious atmosphere, the simple and uncluttered room design, the staff’s hospitality, and the delicious meals—everything was of outstanding quality. What impressed me most was not only the solid construction of the walls and floors but also how well-built the interior doors and fittings were, providing exceptional soundproofing, along with how easy-to-use the bathroom facilities were. It felt as comfortable as a luxury hotel overseas. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to spend quiet, unhurried time away from it all.

Wonderful
This was my first stay. I booked a Plan with breakfast, and both the French toast and the American breakfast were absolutely satisfying! I felt the thoughtful attention to detail and heartfelt hospitality. The Facility was clean and well maintained, making for a very comfortable stay. The peaceful atmosphere of spending quiet time in the forest was incredibly soothing. Next time, I’d like to choose a Plan that includes dinner as well!

This was my first ti...
This was my first time staying here. The quiet, relaxing atmosphere, pleasant service, and lush green surroundings... It was a very comfortable Hotel. I stayed after attending my daughter’s wedding, and I was able to unwind and relax. I didn’t have much time for sightseeing this time, so next time I’d like to stay here longer and enjoy sightseeing as well. Thank you very much.

Japanese Breakfast
I usually enjoy the Japanese meals here, but this time the rice was a bit dry and the grilled fish had cooled down, making it slightly difficult to flake and eat.

The meals, the Room,...
The meals, the Room, and the Hotel staff’s service were all outstanding—truly what you would expect from an Okura Hotel. Every dish in the full-course dinner was beautifully presented and delicious, with perfect cooking that brought out the best of each ingredient. The large windows offered soothing views of lush greenery, and I felt once again that this historic Hotel in Karuizawa is in a class of its own.

Relax and unwind again this year.
It rained day after day, but it suited quiet Karuizawa and allowed us to relax while enjoying the greenery. The Room was thoroughly cleaned, and the windows and exterior areas were well maintained with no dust or cobwebs. The staff kept a comfortable distance, which felt just right. To all Hotel staff, thanks to you we were able to recover from summer fatigue. Thank you very much.

As expected from Hotel Okura.
I had a stress-free stay. The Room amenities and meals were excellent—wonderful. Every year during the summer holidays, I stay at Kashima no Mori. One bellboy didn’t fully understand the Hotel Okura style, but I took it as part of his charm.

A Hotel where you can fully enjoy Karuizawa!
Nestled in the forest and a little away from the bustle of Old Karuizawa, it is wonderfully quiet. Being here makes you want to take a deep breath. A Cozy Place to Relax
I have stayed here several times. Every visit, I’m impressed by the warm service, the simple and spotless Room, and the soothing greenery—my satisfaction is always extremely high at this Hotel. While service standards at Hotels across Japan have been declining due to staff shortages, this Hotel continues to uphold the tradition of classic hospitality and could serve as a model for Hotel professionals nationwide. I would love to visit again next summer.

A calm, relaxing atmosphere for adults
The abalone at “Toen” at Hotel East 21 Tokyo was excellent. My 83-year-old mother was also very happy. There were older guests as well, and we appreciated the calm, mature atmosphere. Thank you also for upgrading us from a Standard Twin to a Deluxe Twin. We would like to stay again.

A Stay Where You Can Experience the Beauty of Karuizawa
During our 3-night, 4-day trip, we stayed here for the first time on the first night, and it was a wonderful Accommodation. The location is in a quiet forest lined with villas for distinguished guests, offering a calm atmosphere, yet it is also conveniently located about a 15-minute walk from Old Karuizawa, making sightseeing easy. There is a courtyard where you can sit and relax, as well as a small ravine-like area with spring water flowing through it, allowing us to fully enjoy forest bathing. The service was also attentive, and we were able to spend our time comfortably. This time we only had breakfast, but next time we would like to try dinner as well.

Valuable Heritage
I had known about this Accommodation for some time, but this was my first stay. Given its age, I didn’t have high expectations, but once I entered the Room, it felt truly modern, very functional, and wonderfully comfortable with a strong sense of cleanliness. The French dinner was excellent, and even the half portion was more than enough to enjoy. For breakfast, I upgraded the bread to their signature French toast. Paired with the salad and yogurt, the combination was outstanding. Karuizawa has been extremely crowded and noisy lately, but Kashima-no-Mori alone feels removed from all that bustle—quiet and calm—allowing you to enjoy a truly Karuizawa-like stay. All of the staff provided superb service as well, and I was able to fully appreciate Okura-quality hospitality. I’m left with a lingering feeling that makes me want to return again—thank you very much.

Last year’s stay lef...
Last year’s stay left such a lasting impression that I made a Reservation six months in advance this year for a Multiple Night Stay (two nights). Time passes quietly here. Greenery outside the window, birdsong, and thoughtful, understated hospitality. Not flashy—just being here makes you feel your mind and body unwind. This is the kind of time that makes you think, “I want to come back.” Once again this year, I was moved by the same unchanging comfort.

We had a relaxing stay.
We stayed here for the first time as an elderly couple. Located in a nature-rich area of Old Karuizawa, it was very quiet and we were able to relax and enjoy our time. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptionally delicious. We would like to stay again. It’s a pity there is no Onsen. The service from everyone at the Hotel was also excellent. Thank you very much.

Excellent service from the staff

It was a fulfilling trip!
This was my first time staying at this Hotel, and I was satisfied with the delicious meals and the calm atmosphere. However, it was disappointing that there was no large public bath, and the bath in the Room was small—typical of a Business Hotel.
