    A calm, relaxing atmosphere for adults

    The abalone at “Toen” at Hotel East 21 Tokyo was excellent. My 83-year-old mother was also very happy. There were older guests as well, and we appreciated the calm, mature atmosphere. Thank you also for upgrading us from a Standard Twin to a Deluxe Twin. We would like to stay again.

    A Stay Where You Can Experience the Beauty of Karuizawa

    During our 3-night, 4-day trip, we stayed here for the first time on the first night, and it was a wonderful Accommodation. The location is in a quiet forest lined with villas for distinguished guests, offering a calm atmosphere, yet it is also conveniently located about a 15-minute walk from Old Karuizawa, making sightseeing easy. There is a courtyard where you can sit and relax, as well as a small ravine-like area with spring water flowing through it, allowing us to fully enjoy forest bathing. The service was also attentive, and we were able to spend our time comfortably. This time we only had breakfast, but next time we would like to try dinner as well.

    Valuable Heritage

    I had known about this Accommodation for some time, but this was my first stay. Given its age, I didn’t have high expectations, but once I entered the Room, it felt truly modern, very functional, and wonderfully comfortable with a strong sense of cleanliness. The French dinner was excellent, and even the half portion was more than enough to enjoy. For breakfast, I upgraded the bread to their signature French toast. Paired with the salad and yogurt, the combination was outstanding. Karuizawa has been extremely crowded and noisy lately, but Kashima-no-Mori alone feels removed from all that bustle—quiet and calm—allowing you to enjoy a truly Karuizawa-like stay. All of the staff provided superb service as well, and I was able to fully appreciate Okura-quality hospitality. I’m left with a lingering feeling that makes me want to return again—thank you very much.

    Last year’s stay lef...

    Last year’s stay left such a lasting impression that I made a Reservation six months in advance this year for a Multiple Night Stay (two nights). Time passes quietly here. Greenery outside the window, birdsong, and thoughtful, understated hospitality. Not flashy—just being here makes you feel your mind and body unwind. This is the kind of time that makes you think, “I want to come back.” Once again this year, I was moved by the same unchanging comfort.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    We stayed here for the first time as an elderly couple. Located in a nature-rich area of Old Karuizawa, it was very quiet and we were able to relax and enjoy our time. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptionally delicious. We would like to stay again. It’s a pity there is no Onsen. The service from everyone at the Hotel was also excellent. Thank you very much.

    A Hotel shaded by lush greenery—perfect for a summer stay.

    I loved the calm atmosphere when I visited for lunch, so this time I booked a 4-night Multiple Night Stay. As expected, I enjoyed a cool and relaxing Karuizawa stay.

    Excellent service from the staff

    Although I stayed for only one night, I’m grateful for the staff’s warm hospitality. Walking was difficult due to a leg injury, but their thoughtful, unobtrusive care really helped. Thank you very much—I’d love to stay again.

    It was a fulfilling trip!

    This was my first time staying at this Hotel, and I was satisfied with the delicious meals and the calm atmosphere. However, it was disappointing that there was no large public bath, and the bath in the Room was small—typical of a Business Hotel.

    Hump Back

    Although there were some disappointing points, it was a good Hotel.

    It was a Hotel in a quiet setting where I would definitely like to stay again. In particular, the staff member who assisted us at check-in and carried our luggage to the Room was extremely courteous, allowing us to start our stay in a very pleasant way. We also appreciated that you were able to move our dinner start time from the originally scheduled 19:45 to 19:00. Every dish in the half-portion dinner course was delicious, and both the French toast breakfast and the salad set were excellent. On the other hand, there were a few service points that concerned me. At dinner, we had to wait briefly at the restaurant entrance as other guests were leaving; I think it would have left an even better impression if someone had simply said, “Please wait a moment.” Also, although it did not appear very busy inside, no one checked on us when our drinks ran out and we had to call for staff. A bit more attention to each table would make dining even more comfortable. At breakfast, the French toast set came with only a large knife and two forks, which made it quite difficult to eat the fruit served in small bowls. The salad set included a small dessert fork, so I would be happy if one could be provided with this set as well. (It was especially hard to eat small blueberries or slippery grapes with those forks.) Also, when leaving the restaurant, a staff member assisting a guest using a wheelchair ended up blocking the entrance area and we had to wait for a moment. It would have been helpful if there were consideration so both parties could pass easily—for example by moving slightly further inside. Finally, at checkout, a staff member offered to carry our luggage but left partway through for another task and our luggage was left behind. I did not expect anyone to carry it for us in the first place; however, if it cannot be seen through until the end, I feel it may be better not to take charge of it. Because my expectations were raised by such wonderful service at check-in, these small lapses felt disappointing. Still, we were very satisfied with both the food and Facility overall, and we hope service will improve by our next visit.

    The Comfort of a Long-Established Hotel

    The forest setting was incredibly relaxing. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and the service was excellent. The breakfast omelet was top-notch. I also appreciated the staff’s attentive hospitality. The only downside was that the Wi-Fi signal was a bit weak, which bothered me slightly.

    Thank you as always....

    Thank you as always. We had a Multiple Night Stay. As usual, the garden was beautiful and the greenery was lush, which helped us feel refreshed. However, the fruit did not arrive with breakfast on the second day—the fruit that should have come with the French toast set was missing.

    I stayed in Karuizaw...

    I stayed in Karuizawa during the rainy season. This Hotel is wonderful. The Room cleaning was especially perfect. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. However, on the second day’s breakfast, there was no fruit. That was disappointing.

    Reliable Hospitality

    I was able to spend another wonderful time here this year. I had planned to relax in the lounge, but we arrived late and missed the sweets service, which was disappointing. Still, I was very satisfied to enjoy café au lait and tea served in a pot. Dinner was a French course meal. The pacing between dishes was a little slow, so I ended up eating too much bread and felt quite full before the main course. Just one comment about dessert: there were two delicious mousses, but I think it would have been more refreshing with just one mousse and some ice cream on the side. The French toast at breakfast was piping hot and outstanding. The orange juice had a natural sweetness you don’t find elsewhere, and the fruit, yogurt, and jam were all delicious as well. This breakfast alone makes me want to come back again. This time it was a trip to Karuizawa with my two grandchildren. Even though it was during the rainy season, we had good weather and fully enjoyed the Karuizawa atmosphere. It takes some time from Nagoya so we can’t visit often, but next year I hope to return again—especially for my favorite sole gratin. Thank you very much.

    A great Hotel—this one phrase says it all.

    This year again, we spent our wedding anniversary in memory-filled Karuizawa. For us, this is truly a wonderful Hotel. With a typhoon approaching, we were worried the weather might turn severe, but the Hotel was so quiet and peaceful that we forgot all about it. Surrounded by delicious food and wine and the thoughtful care of the staff, we had a very comfortable stay. Thank you very much. We plan to stay again in autumn.

    Your First Visit to Karuizawa

    We stayed as a family of three. After researching various options, we chose Kashima no Mori and were very glad we did. One of us had an ingredient they couldn’t eat, and instead of simply removing it, they prepared a delicious alternative dish—we truly felt their heartfelt hospitality. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and it was nice to be able to choose from several breakfast options. It was a bit disappointing that there isn’t a large bath or open-air bath, but the lush green garden and nearby walks were very relaxing. We’d love to visit again in another season.

    I was able to relax completely during my stay and truly unwind. Not only the facilities and the Room, but also the staff’s courteous and warm hospitality was wonderful, making for a very pleasant stay. Every dish at dinner was delicious, but I was especially impressed by the main beef course—cooked to perfection. The dessert was also excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal from start to finish. In the morning, I took a walk to Kumoba Pond. It was just the right distance from the Hotel, and I enjoyed a refreshing start to the day. This is a wonderful Hotel that I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Always a wonderful Hotel

    It was my first visit in a while, and everything—from the hospitality and service to the meals—was perfect. Dinner was delicious across the board, especially the meat dish and the pumpkin soup. The Room amenities had increased since last time, and the fixtures had been updated to newer ones. The shower room also seemed to have been renovated; it was sparkling new and made for a very comfortable stay. With its quiet setting, this is a Hotel where adults can truly relax. I meant to go to the bar but fell asleep (lol), so I’ll definitely visit next time! This time there was a photo exhibition in the garden. I also love that they always find ways for guests to enjoy the garden each visit. There aren’t many Hotels I can honestly call perfect in every way. I left feeling grateful for all the staff’s hard work. Thank you very much, and I’ll be back again.

    This was our first stay. We have been visiting Karuizawa for many years and often passed by this Hotel, and although we have stayed at various Hotels in Karuizawa, we had never had the chance to stay here (even though we had long wanted to). This time, however, we ended up staying right in the middle of Golden Week. The town center and several other Hotels were unbelievably crowded—packed with cars and people—but this Hotel (of course it was busy too) still felt calm and quiet. Thanks to that, we were able to enjoy an exceptionally relaxing stay in Karuizawa during a season when we didn’t expect it at all. Thank you very much.\n\nAlso, when choosing an Accommodation, we usually prioritize places with separate bathroom/toilet/sink areas, but at this Hotel we were able to spend our time without that being a concern. That was a pleasant surprise. Finally, the lighting in the appropriately renovated Room was perfect. Even at newer Hotels these days, it’s surprisingly common for lighting not to be directed at the right angle or provide enough brightness where it’s actually needed.

    A Relaxing Hotel

    I stopped by in the early afternoon hoping to enjoy lunch on the fresh green terrace, and they kindly offered an early check-in, saying the room was ready after cleaning. I was traveling with my elderly mother this time, so I truly appreciated their thoughtfulness. For me, this is one of Karuizawa’s rare retreats where I can escape the city’s noise and stress. With birdsong in the background, I enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing time. It was my first time trying in-room dining, and everything was delicious—I was able to unwind at ease. It’s always hard to leave, but I depart each time promising myself I’ll be back. Thank you to all the staff and housekeeping team for always greeting us so warmly and pleasantly. I will visit again.

    We had a relaxing stay!

    This was my first visit since last winter. The Room was bright and comfortable, and all the staff were calm and welcoming, so I felt at ease throughout my stay. The meals were excellent—the dinner soup was outstanding, and the sauce for the meat was thoughtfully crafted and very delicious. I was also lucky to spot a squirrel in a tree in the garden. One day wasn’t enough, so next time I’d love to book a Multiple Night Stay.

    It was a quiet Hotel...

    It was a quiet Hotel away from the bustle of Old Karuizawa, and I was able to relax very much. When I took an early-morning walk nearby, I was able to see wild birds such as the Japanese Green Woodpecker. I thought the guest room, Facility, and service were all good. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. However, during the dinner course, as soon as I finished one dish, the next was brought out with little pause, which made me feel somewhat rushed. I would appreciate it if we could enjoy the excellent food a bit more leisurely while having drinks. Even so, this is a Hotel where I would like to stay again next time.

    A quiet, relaxing Hotel

    This was my third stay. After visiting the five Togakushi Shrines, I spend one night in Karuizawa to rest and recover before heading home, and I always choose this Hotel. The reason I keep coming back is the food—it’s truly delicious. Dinner is authentic French cuisine, and breakfast offers French toast or a salad breakfast. Dinner is consistently excellent quality every time. For breakfast, I always find myself torn between the salad breakfast and the French toast—the vegetables are so fresh, and the French toast has a classic, traditional flavor. The property is clean and relaxing, and the Room is very comfortable and easy to use. The bed firmness suits me perfectly, so I sleep soundly. The Hotel is surrounded by lush forest greenery as well—perfect for a refreshing forest walk. This is my go-to Accommodation in Karuizawa.

    It’s quiet.

    I was surprised by how small the front desk area was, but the staff were very courteous—just what you’d expect from an Okura-affiliated hotel. They also arranged a bicycle rental right away, and I really enjoyed exploring the area! The Room had a few small bits of trash here and there, but overall it was clean. However, I would have preferred separate slippers for the toilet. Alternatively, disposable spare slippers would have worked. It would have been even better if there had been a large public bath! Breakfast was delicious.

    I was able to spend a quiet, relaxing time.

    Because the Reviews were highly rated, this was my first stay. In conclusion, as the title says, we were able to spend quiet, relaxing time with our family, and we were very satisfied. The meals were delicious, and we enjoyed every dish of the full-course dinner. If I had one request, the bed was a little firm, so I would have preferred it to be a bit softer. In any case, I would like to stay here again the next time we visit Karuizawa.
