    We’ll be back!

    Our previous Accommodation had quite a few foreign guests, and it didn’t feel very relaxing, but this place was quiet and we were able to unwind. I’ll recommend it to friends, and we’d love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    It was quiet, and I was able to relax and take my time.

    Shikotsuko Onsen was very quiet, with no convenience stores or restaurants nearby, so we were able to relax peacefully. The front desk, lobby lounge, and restaurant areas felt calm, spacious, and comfortable—perhaps also because the Hotel was not fully booked that day. I have often stayed at small guesthouses and pensions recently, so it was great to experience proper Hotel-style service again, even though this was an annex of a major Hotel. Meals at a Ryokan are often more than I can finish, but here the portions were just right. The pasta in particular was excellent. I was also very satisfied with the services such as drink service at dinner, 24-hour coffee service, gelato after dinner (especially the liqueur-topped gelato, which is available for an additional fee), replenishment of towels and water after dinner, and more. It was also nice that we could use the main building’s private open-air bath at a very reasonable price. The complimentary ramune soda was delicious as well. Two points concerned me: first, the Hotel’s Reservation page stated that they would contact guests by phone or email a few days before arrival for confirmation, but we did not receive any contact. Since it also said that staying might not be possible if there is no response, I called the day before; they simply replied that my Reservation existed without any apology for the lack of notice. Second, while the large in-room jacuzzi filled quickly despite its size and was enjoyable once inside, it was difficult to get out because it is deep and high-sided. This could be dangerous for older guests; having steps or at least a non-slip step stool would make bathing much safer.

    It was a great Hotel.

    The food was simply delicious. I still can’t forget the flavor of the potage. It was a bit of a hassle having to go to the main building for the Onsen, but it was wonderful and the water was great, so I was satisfied. The lighting was dim and it was hard to do my makeup, so I would appreciate it if at least the wash area could be brighter or if a hand mirror could be provided.

    This was my second stay. I came back looking forward to the carefully selected ingredients and dishes full of rich, natural flavors, which I really love. Just like last time, the serving staff had a distinctive style in a good way, and it made the meal even more enjoyable. The drink service was excellent, and on top of that, the all-you-can-eat homemade gelato was very generous. The gentle sweetness made every flavor delicious! My only concern is still getting to the large public bath—during colder seasons it seems tough. That’s the only downside. I’ll visit again in a warmer season.

    The Onsen in the main building was excellent.

    The Accommodation concept is wonderful, but there are some inconveniences that come with having only a small number of Rooms. I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay in the Room with the mini theater, but to be honest, I found the toilet malfunction stressful. I noticed the issue on the first night and explained it, but no Room change was offered, which left me feeling frustrated. (Especially since it seemed we were the only guests on the second night.) At the same time, I also wondered if this wasn’t something a guest in the smallest Room should be complaining about... That said, aside from that, we really enjoyed the main building’s Onsen and nearby facilities. As for meals, it didn’t seem like Multiple Night Stays are really anticipated, and I feel we caused you some trouble with planning different menus. Personally, I wouldn’t have minded having the same breakfast two days in a row (for example, just changing up the smoothie). This was my second time staying at Lake Shikotsu, and I was able to fully enjoy its beautiful winter scenery. Thank you very much.

    Simple

    Thank you for your hospitality the other day. The efficient setup allowed us to enjoy our stay freely. The theater room was fun, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. We were especially satisfied with the all-you-can-eat desserts after meals. As for the Onsen, it is accessible at a nearby Ryokan, but for our family who loves frequent visits to the Onsen, it felt a bit far. However, the silky smooth water was wonderful. We look forward to visiting again!

    Wonderful Hotel

    I chose this Hotel because I wanted to visit Lake Shikotsu. One staff member kindly explained everything from check-in to meals, and the service was exceptionally polite. The food, especially the pizza, was large and very filling. Before coming here, I bought snacks and drinks at Seicomart, but it turned out unnecessary! (laughs) Next time, I’d like to visit a Hotel in the Jozankei series as well.

    I stayed on July 4th...

    I stayed on July 4th. I read in previous reviews that gelato served in a cute cow-shaped container was offered at check-in, but it seems to be no longer available as I didn’t receive it. Overall, it was a good experience.

    Accommodation with exquisite dinner pizza

    Quiet and simple, with exceptionally delicious meals. The pizza, in particular, was outstanding—be sure to try the original pizza. Despite the modern concept, we were worried as a couple in our late 60s that we might feel out of place, but it was an unnecessary concern. Choosing this accommodation was absolutely the right decision; we would love to visit again.

    Wide variety of gelato!

    I visited for a solo trip. The room was clean and had a neat atmosphere. The Onsen, which is accessible on foot, is about a 5-minute walk downhill. It was mid-October in the evening, and it was quite dark with few streetlights, so the way back felt a bit scary. The room had a jet bath. The meal was an Italian course: appetizers, marinated fish, soup, pizza, pasta, hamburger steak, followed by all-you-can-eat gelato! It was quite filling and unfortunately I couldn’t finish everything (sorry!). A few points of concern: there’s no place to hang the bathrobe after use; tissues in the bathroom would be convenient; and the trash bin being inside a cabinet under the TV made it hard to find. Overall though, I think this accommodation is safe for solo female travelers and would also be enjoyable for groups of women!
