    Work up a sweat in the sauna before peak summer!

    I had a very comfortable stay and was able to work up a good sweat before the Nagoshi no Harae day. I worked in general affairs at a financial institution in front of the Kanko-boko float until five years ago, and I believe the pullers and officials after the parade may still be using your services. Before COVID, our company’s rally was held in the Kensington Room, and that was when I first stayed here because it was too much trouble to go back to Osaka. I will visit again for another good sweat. Thank you very much.

    Around 5:30 a.m., an unexpected lightning strike caused a power outage.

    Even though there was an unexpected power outage caused by a lightning strike around 5:30 a.m., breakfast was served almost as usual, even while they said they would provide what they could. Their hospitality under such difficult circumstances was truly impressive.

    Given the low price,...

    Given the low price, I honestly didn’t expect much, but both the food and the Facility were excellent. The only inconvenience was that there were no shower caps in the large public bath, but the mist sauna and open-air bath were great. It was very crowded, so next time I’d like to choose a better time and relax. The food was delicious, so I’ll stay again when the season changes. Thank you very much.

    I will use it again.

    Convenient and comfortable for an overnight stay before work, with a great location in central Kyoto. I especially liked the large public bath and the lounge. One thing: when I used the restroom late at night, I noticed an odor coming from the drain, but it was fine during the day. I also used the parking lot, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. This will likely become my regular Accommodation whenever I have business in Kyoto.

    It was very good.

    Both the Room and the service were excellent. If I had to say one thing, I wish the morning bath hours started one hour earlier. (Just a small personal request.)

    The location is good, but the nearest subway exit is...

    The location is excellent, but the stairs at Exit 6 of Karasuma Oike Subway Station are tough when you have luggage. I guess that’s one difference compared with central Tokyo, where redevelopment has progressed further. During my stay, the Room and amenities were completely stress-free, and the bed was very comfortable. However, at checkout I didn’t want to use the subway again, so I asked for a taxi. It took a long time to arrive, and while I waited as instructed by the front desk, the driver came to the front desk upset because more than five minutes had passed since arrival with no passenger showing up. In the end, I barely made it to my destination on time. I assume you were busy and simply forgot to confirm, but it would be disappointing if this became a situation where guests feel they can’t rely on what the front desk says like at some overseas hotels. Please provide more attentive support for future guests.

    I stayed in the Ladi...

    I stayed in the Ladies’ Room for a Multiple Night Stay of two nights and used the bath four times. Since it was a Multiple Night Stay, I saw several housekeeping staff members, and I had a very good impression—they worked efficiently without unnecessary chatting. It also seemed that the bath lockers were cleaned after each use, and the bathing area and powder room appeared to be cleaned frequently as well, so I was able to use them comfortably. Thank you. The work of those who support things behind the scenes is truly important, and I think quite a few guests notice it. Please continue providing the same level of service in the future. One point: could it be due to insufficient maintenance that the stylish hair dryer provided is very loud but doesn’t dry well? Also, after entering through the main entrance and walking further in without seeing any Hotel staff can be surprising for first-time guests, but it’s fine for repeat visitors.

    Conveniently located.

    The convenient location and the spa were great. Last time I stayed in a double Room, but the bed felt too large for the size of the Room and it felt cramped. This time I downgraded to a single, and it actually felt more spacious, which was nice. At check-in, I heard staff explaining complimentary drinks and beer service to the guest next to me, but I wasn’t told about it, so I assumed it wasn’t included with the discounted IKYU rate—however, it turns out this service is available to all guests equally.

    I was able to relax.

    The interior and other areas were stylish. Dinner at the restaurant we used once was à la carte, but it was affordable and delicious. The Onsen bath was excellent. One request: for breakfast, I felt there were not many types of bread for international guests. I also thought something like corn soup would be nice. Since I prefer Japanese food, I was very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    This is my favorite regular Accommodation.

    It’s an older Hotel, but the location is great. The Room doesn’t feel cramped like a typical Business Hotel, and the interior is charming. I especially like the striped wallpaper. The bedding suits me perfectly, so I always sleep well. I also appreciate having an air purifier and humidifier in the Room. The hair dryer is SALONIA, and in the ladies’ Room it’s ReFa. I liked ReFa so much at this Hotel that I bought one for myself. The large Onsen bath is spacious and relaxing—one of my favorites. The staff are also very courteous.

    Kyoto Family Trip

    We used this as our base for a 3-day, 2-night parent-and-child trip to Kyoto. The location was very convenient for transportation, sightseeing spots, and dining. They upgraded our Room, and we were able to stay comfortably.

    With heartfelt gratitude.

    This spring, my child started university and began living alone in Kyoto, so I gifted them a one-night single stay at Hotel Monterey Kyoto as a birthday present. They seemed worn out from adjusting to an unfamiliar new life. They even said, “I just want to relax in a big bath,” with a little sigh… (laughs) After the stay, I received a thank-you call in such an energetic voice. They said the bath and the meals were amazing, and they were thrilled by how kind and welcoming all the staff were. To everyone at Hotel Monterey Kyoto who helped cheer up my child while we live far apart—thank you so much. As their mother, I hope to stay there myself someday.

    Unsettling

    I thought Monterey was a chain found across The whole country, but this was my first stay. From the photos, I expected a cute, girly Hotel interior like you often see in Paris. But once I entered the Room, the interior felt… disappointing. It may look cute at first glance or in pictures, but in reality the materials felt cheap. The main ceiling light shade in the Room was badly misaligned, and there was a lot of dust under the bed. Overall, the cleaning quality didn’t match the price. I felt itchy throughout and it took me a long time to fall asleep. The bed itself also wasn’t comfortable—the mattress felt thin. The bathroom layout was awkward to use, and it didn’t feel high-quality. Compared with Hotel New Otani Osaka, where I stayed for almost the same price the day before, the difference was far too big. I don’t think I would stay again.

    Centrally located and convenient for getting anywhere. Because I have limited mobility, it was helpful to be able to use the Room anytime when I returned to rest, and housekeeping was flexible. Taxis are easy to catch in front of the Hotel. If I had one complaint, the bed felt a bit too high—perhaps designed for international guests. The front desk staff were kind and responsive. I received a neighborhood map and asked about a soba restaurant, but it had already closed; it was a little disappointing that the map wasn’t up to date.

    This was my second stay, in February and May, with breakfast and dinner included. I was able to relax in the spa and lounge, and the staff service was excellent. I really enjoyed the kaiseki dinner on my first visit, so this time I chose the chef’s recommended Plan. Each dish was carefully prepared with high-quality ingredients—you can truly feel the chef’s dedication. I’m glad I chose this Plan. The portions were generous and very satisfying. If I have the chance, I’d love to stay again many times. It’s perfect for exploring Kyoto on foot. Due to work, I can only stay on Wednesdays, but since Zuien is closed then, I hope to visit when a holiday lines up someday. I’d like to recommend it to my friends as well.

    It was very good.

    We stayed for a 2-night, 3-day family trip to Kyoto during Golden Week. The Room was spacious and impeccably clean. The Onsen on the top floor was also beautiful and very enjoyable. This is a Hotel we would want to stay at again. The location is excellent, with the subway and restaurants close to the Hotel. Just one point... When we arrived around 3:30 PM, the parking lot was full! We were directed to a nearby affiliated parking lot and parked there. That was fine, but for those unfamiliar with the area, the printed directions to the affiliated parking lot are hard to understand. Although it was explained to us, it was still quite difficult to find. I think it would be even better if the map were made clearer.

    Satisfied

    I stayed here for the first time in 10 years. I was able to relax so much that I found myself thinking, “Was it always this good?” The sencha set (with proper tea utensils) brought back fond memories. I don’t remember there being a large public bath 10 years ago. The large public bath was excellent. These days, many front desks are staffed by part-time workers, but the service here was professional and made me feel very welcome.

    I stayed for three n...

    I stayed for three nights on business. Although I was traveling alone, I was able to use a spacious double Room. It was plenty large, the air conditioning worked well (cooling, heating, and auto were all comfortable), the bathroom was new and clean with ample hot water, the TV and Wi‑Fi worked great, the tea set had a nice design, and the bed was comfortable. I only used it once, but the top-floor spa (large public bath and open-air bath) was also very relaxing. The building has a stylish atmosphere as well. I was able to rest very comfortably.

    I have been staying here in Kyoto for the past few years. This time, I was upgraded to the ladies-only floor. The Room was spacious, and I was able to relax comfortably. I would like to stay again during the autumn foliage season.

    A Hotel for a Comfortable Stay

    Thank you for having me for two nights last week. I had made a Reservation for a single Room, but due to availability on the day, you upgraded me to a twin Room on the ladies’ floor. The Room was spacious and elegant, and I had a very comfortable stay. All the staff were friendly and welcoming with warm smiles, everything was well cleaned, and the amenities were more than sufficient. The location was excellent and very convenient as a base for sightseeing and shopping. Personally, I loved the detox water in the front lobby—it was delicious. I would like to stay again when I visit Kyoto. Thank you very much.

    I was able to relax and feel refreshed at the spa!

    A wonderful Hotel with a lovely classical atmosphere. We walked from the Hotel to visit the Kyoto Imperial Palace just as the weeping cherry blossoms were beginning to bloom. The Onsen spa on the 13th floor gently soothed our tired legs and back. In the spa lounge, we enjoyed one beer in the evening, and at the morning bath they kindly provided one complimentary ice pop. I never expected to enjoy so much Onsen time in Kyoto. We also received a discount voucher for the lounge bar on the first floor, so we could relax there at night as well! The Room and bed were spacious, clean, and comfortable. There are cafes and convenience stores nearby, as well as Daimaru, so you won’t have trouble finding something to eat. This is a Hotel I would definitely love to stay with again.

    This Hotel always feels surprisingly calming.

    I’ve stayed here many times. I visit Kyoto often and try different Hotels, but I end up staying here more than once every three trips. Whenever I’m traveling for business or a conference and feeling a bit stressed, I always choose this place. Maybe it’s because I’m used to it, but it’s simply so comfortable and reassuring. It’s amazing that this feeling never lets me down. It had been a little while since my last stay, and in the meantime the Room seemed even cleaner, which made me happy. I was quite surprised that you can now go to the bath in pajamas and slippers, but in its own way it felt very “Kyoto-like,” which I liked (just my personal impression). I’ll probably be back again soon. Thank you in advance for taking care of me then as well.

    A great-value Hotel

    With a large Onsen, relaxation areas, spacious Rooms, and a clean environment, this Hotel offered excellent value for money. If there is room for further improvement, it would be the quality of the breakfast and the hospitality of the staff, but overall it was a very satisfying Hotel.

    The spa is very crowded; there is an 8-person wait for the washing area.

    I stayed here looking forward to the spa. At check-in, I was told it can get crowded at night, but I never expected a situation where eight people were waiting for a washing station. Standing in line naked and cold was extremely uncomfortable, and I couldn’t relax at all. Fortunately or unfortunately, there were only Japanese guests, so everyone waited quietly, but I strongly request that this be improved as soon as possible.

    A consistently reliable stay at Hotel Monterey Kyoto

    Thank you for upgrading my Reservation from a single to a twin Room! The Room was spacious, and I was able to stay comfortably without feeling cramped. This time, the spa was crowded when I checked, so I gave up. If I could check in earlier, I’d love to relax at the spa with a beer, but since I come after work, it’s difficult. I also wanted to visit the library on the first floor, but this time I relaxed in my Room instead. The subway is very close, which is convenient. I’ll stay again to recharge!

    It was very convenient and comfortable.

    Although it’s located in the central area along Karasuma-dori, it was quiet once inside the building, so I was able to rest well. I appreciated being upgraded to a larger Room at check-in. The front desk staff were courteous and efficient. The bath was spacious, and I could soak comfortably and relax. There is a large public bath on the top floor; I didn’t use it this time, but I’d like to try it on my next visit. It’s close to both the subway and Hankyu stations, and there are Kyoto-style shops and sightseeing spots within walking distance, which was very convenient. This was my first stay here, but I’d like to consider it as an option for future stays in Kyoto.

    A Local’s Day Off

    I’m a local, but I stayed at Hotel Monterey Kyoto for a change of pace. I checked in at 3:00 PM and felt refreshed with a bath and sauna. After that, I had dinner at Umenohana across the street, then went back to the Room and toasted with champagne. The next morning, I woke up slowly and enjoyed a morning bath. It was perfect for a local refresh! I’ll be back again next month...

    Although we stayed during heavy snowfall, it was great to warm up in the Onsen. With such a great-value Plan, the price and level of satisfaction make us want to stay again. The restaurant also looked delicious, so we’d like to try it next time. It was disappointing that we didn’t realize the morning bath was only available until 10:00, and it had already ended when we went. We also wished there had been information in the Room about options such as Spa Trinite’s esthetic massage Plan, as we would have considered booking one.
