    Unfortunately.

    We visited with high expectations, but the facility was outdated, the distance to the annex was long, and we only used the large public bath once. The meals were far from what one would expect from an auberge.

    Highly satisfied.

    About 30 minutes by Shuttle Service from the Orient Hotel. The riverside auberge exceeded expectations from the approach to the entrance, offering a comfortable stay. Enjoy free drinks in the private lounge and a delightful round trip to the villa just across a suspension bridge. Dinner featured beautifully presented dishes using local ingredients from Kochi, paired with sake or fruit-based cocktails. The stay is mostly all-inclusive, with no extra charges unless ordering special drinks. The staff provided friendly service, making it easy to indulge and thoroughly enjoy the experience. While strolling near the riverbank, we heard a warbler practicing its song; by the next day, it was producing beautiful melodies. On departure, we were kindly dropped off at Kochi Station. We look forward to visiting again!

    It was delicious.

    I stayed in Tosayama to enjoy the meals. Every dish served exceeded my expectations. The next morning, I waited for a nearby shop to open and did some shopping, buying strawberries, vegetables, and citrus fruits before heading home. It was a day that truly allowed me to appreciate the charm of Tosayama.

    Relaxing Hotel

    A secluded mountain Hotel where you can relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The charm becomes even more apparent with a Multiple Night Stay. The Hotel staff are friendly, kind, and humble, and the meals made with locally sourced ingredients were delicious. I would love to visit again in a different season.

    Accommodation for Multiple Night Stay

    Delicious cuisine and drinks made with local ingredients. The stunning scenery and perfectly tempered onsen made this accommodation exceptional. However, the mountain road from the city is narrow, so it is recommended to arrive at the hotel during daylight hours. This accommodation is highly recommended for those who wish to enjoy a multiple night stay and relax at their own pace.

    This is a property I would like to visit again.

    The dishes were dynamic, beautifully presented, and delicious. Also, everyone was very kind, which was reassuring. Since we had an early departure, it was unfortunate that we couldn't use the bath as it opened at 6 a.m.

    I used the property for my partner's birthday. The food was delicious, and the view from the window was very nice. I thought it was a property where you could enjoy the mountain atmosphere with overall clean facilities. As others have mentioned, for this price range, I think there could be a bit more attention to amenities (such as the soap in the guest room and the shampoo in the bathroom). In terms of customer service, although the staff in the dining area maintained a good distance, it seemed they were busy as it was hard to make eye contact, and it took a little time to order drinks. Since I had informed them in advance that it was a birthday, I thought it would have been nice to have some gestures like offering to take photos at checkout. The main point is about the sauna; since it's a stone type, I wish it could be managed to allow for löyly. It felt like a missed opportunity given the potential, such as being able to enjoy an outdoor air bath (though there are no chairs).

    What is an auberge?

    The high expectations due to the good reviews were, on the contrary, disappointing. The location had a nice rural atmosphere, but including the Facility, especially the dinner, it was like an old-fashioned kaiseki-style meal with volume but nothing particularly impressive aside from being fresh. In my opinion, it was clearly different from Tobe Auberge.

    It made me forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

    We visited as a couple and spent a night in a detached villa, which was a space so quiet that it made us forget the hustle and bustle of daily life. There was no TV, and we enjoyed a relaxing time while playing CD music borrowed from the front desk. Since it was a Sunday stay, there were only four groups including us, so we were able to enjoy our meal in a quiet and calm atmosphere even though it was in the same room. The dinner was filled with local ingredients, and both the presentation and taste were excellent. We were very satisfied with the additional service of vegetable sushi and bonito belly, which were not on the course menu. It rained late at night, but it cleared up by early morning. We were able to welcome a refreshing morning with clear air, bright sunlight shining on the trees, and only the sound of the river and birds, which is not something we experience in daily life. The staff were very kind and attentive, making it a Ryokan that makes us want to visit again.

    Satoyama

    Satoyama! A river flows! It's so calming, and the staff are people who find their life's work fulfilling, which makes me feel like I should work too. I feel like I received power from this Hotel. The food was delicious! The Room was separate, and it felt like a nice day in a villa!

    Auberge?

    Despite being an auberge, there is no sommelier. The chef does not come to greet guests. The hall staff are all elderly (they are very hardworking and heartwarming, but) they only know what's in the manual about the dishes. The tableware is ordinary. I ordered a sake pairing, but the sake was served after the dishes. The cutlery does not match the dishes. Perhaps you could study in Yakushima or Hakone. As an accommodation, it is not worth the price. You have to carry your luggage up the stairs yourself (no elevator). There is no guidance to the room. No explanation of the evacuation route. The room was not air-conditioned and the temperature was 32 degrees Celsius. There is no safe in the room. No power outlet by the bedside. There is no beverage service in the room, and when I inquired, I was told, "Tap water is drinkable." "What? Without a pitcher? Directly into a glass?" "There is also a vending machine in the large public bath area." The worst part is the poor access. If there are many difficult-to-pass mountain roads, I would like that to be indicated.
