We stayed at the villa to celebrate.
The building is beautifully maintained, and I was truly moved by its smart design that still feels warm with natural wood. The food was excellent, and we really enjoyed having plenty of both fish and meat. The Hotel staff were always smiling, and it was a pleasure communicating with them. I came for lunch five years ago and had been dreaming of staying here ever since—my wish finally came true. Thank you so much; I’d love to come back again!

Highly satisfied
While looking for an Accommodation in Kochi for our Obon holiday as a couple, we found availability for two and made a Reservation. The building is very stylish, and we felt it blends beautifully with the surrounding nature. The view from our Room was incredibly soothing. The meals were delicious, with excellent quality and generous portions—nothing to complain about. We could also feel the attentive hospitality from all the staff, which is becoming rare these days, and we had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

Stayed to escape the early-summer heat. I was able to relax and enjoy the Onsen. The meals were delicious, and I was especially surprised by the large seared bonito. Since I can’t eat the finishing egg-over-rice dish, thank you for preparing a piping-hot rolled omelet instead. All of the dining staff were cheerful and spoke to us many times, and when I asked about the dishes, they answered properly, which was great. If I had to mention one thing, there was no air conditioning on in the Room upon arrival—it felt like a steam bath and I was drenched in sweat. Shouldn’t this be checked before welcoming guests? As for loungewear, it would be even better if you had samue instead of yukata.

While the area is rich in nature, the roads are narrow and can be difficult to navigate.
This was my first stay, but since cars cannot pull up directly in front of the entrance, it seems to be a self-carry system (they helped carry some items on arrival, but on departure I had to carry everything myself with an umbrella even though it was raining). After check-in, they did not take my luggage to the Room and there was no explanation of the Room. Although beer and other alcohol are available in the lounge, there was no 안내 about this either (I only found out after asking after my bath). When I told them my height for a yukata, I was told “L size,” but it was far too small, so I went back to the front desk to change it. Next I chose “LL size,” but it was also labeled “M” and wasn’t large. The way sizes are arranged is inconsistent. The Room has a sofa, but the table in front of it is far too low (about 10 cm high), making it inconvenient and difficult to use because reaching items placed there is awkward. The washbasin area is small, and the lighting position is poor—the light makes it hard to see properly because my head blocks it. I think the Hotel management should try using the Room themselves once to evaluate usability. The large public bath is also small; the source temperature is 17°C and there are few Onsen components (ions). At dinner, the bonito sashimi pieces were large, but the Akaushi beef was tougher than expected and not juicy. The soup had no flavor—it tasted like there was no dashi (was it forgotten?). Breakfast involved grilling fish such as horse mackerel over a brazier; since it was fresh rather than dried fish, it was delicious. If this is all-inclusive, they should provide a proper explanation at the beginning (what is available where). The sake in the lounge wasn’t good, and I would like them to put more thought into snacks as well—such as rice crackers or similar items. The road on the way here was narrow and difficult when an oncoming car appeared; thinking that we had to drive back along that same road made me uneasy. Also, not having a TV can be good or bad—I think having one would be fine (those who don’t want to watch simply wouldn’t). Considering the cost, I found aspects such as service, Onsen quality, location/access road conditions), and overall Room usability disappointing.

The meals were exactly as expected—very delicious. The Onsen was also very relaxing. I had heard from a friend that the hospitality was outstanding, but overall I did not find the service very kind. In particular, when I asked for advice about road conditions at checkout, the response felt intimidating. I may have asked an off-base question because I’m unfamiliar with the area, but I didn’t feel any sense of hospitality, which was very disappointing. The location and building are wonderful and I’d like to recommend it to other friends, so I sincerely hope you will review and improve your customer service.

There was a luxury in doing nothing.
We chose this auberge with high expectations for the cuisine, and we were very satisfied not only with the food but also with the clean Facility. With no TV, we were able to appreciate the richness of nature. I still found myself using my smartphone, so I would love it if you offered an option like “We can hold your smartphone and other devices” for guests who want a digital detox. (Perhaps the front desk could have held it if I had asked.) I’m also grateful that the staff kindly assisted my elderly father. At bath time, we were given one bath towel and one face towel each, but when my mother asked for an extra face towel, she was apparently refused at first (though she did receive one in the end). It would have been nice if this could have been handled more flexibly from the start. Also, we couldn’t book a massage because all appointments were full, so I wish we could have made a Reservation in advance. I’ve mentioned a few things, but overall it exceeded our expectations and we had a wonderful time. Thank you very much!

Relax in a hidden retreat
We were able to relax comfortably in the Room. The meals were delicious both morning and evening, and we really enjoyed the drinks. It was our first time using an all-inclusive beverage plan, and it was great—especially being able to make our own smoothies. Thank you very much.

An Accommodation I’ve long wanted to visit
We were able to relax at a very leisurely pace. The road leading to the Accommodation was very narrow, so we arrived feeling a bit nervous. Although it was an older Accommodation, everything was kept very clean, and nothing bothered us. The only downside was that the meals were not what we had expected.

Feels like your own mountain lodge.
A hotel that feels like your own private retreat, offering warmth and tranquility. The staff are kind and welcoming, the scenery is beautiful and serene, providing a perfect escape from the city. If you can take a break from work, this is an ideal place to stay for some much-needed rest.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the meal this time, which fell far short of what one would expect from an auberge. With such a prime location, excellent Facility, and great staff, it felt like a missed opportunity.

Tosa no Okyaku
This was my third stay, and everything here is truly authentic—a one-of-a-kind experience. The beautiful autumn mountain scenery of Tosayama, the meticulously maintained natural landscaping, the timeless architectural beauty, and the delicious "Ruten Kaiseki" cuisine made with fresh ingredients from Tosa. All of this is complemented by the warm and lively hospitality of the staff who deeply love Tosayama. The charm of "Auberge Tosayama" is supported by these dedicated individuals and cannot be fully expressed in words. I had a blissful time enjoying their fresh and creative dishes. Starting with seasonal appetizers, followed by "Kuroshio-dancing Pacific Ocean Tosa Bonito Tataki with Yuzu Ponzu Sauce and Wasabi," "Foie Gras Steamed in Yam," a meal featuring "Tosa Jiro Egg Over Rice with Specially Made Soda-Bushi Soy Sauce," and your choice of dessert to finish. We stayed in a villa for a Multiple Night Stay, experiencing true relaxation and inspiration. We look forward to visiting again next year in search of this unparalleled comfort once more. The culture of “Tosa no Okyaku” (hospitality) is truly wonderful!

We visited an irreplaceable spot in the region.
We visited the Yanase Takashi Memorial Hall in Kami City and the Makino Botanical Garden, then headed towards Tosayama while passing by Kochi Castle. Although I am not familiar with architecture, the villa building we crossed a suspension bridge to reach was luxuriously designed in a way that is rarely seen nowadays, with meticulous attention to detail. I highly recommend staying at the villa. The hotel's onsen is wonderful, but soaking in the bath at the villa while gazing at the clear blue sky after a typhoon through brick walls was truly exceptional. The fresh air you can't find in cities, the murmuring of clear streams, rustling leaves, and a night sky full of stars were unparalleled luxuries. Standing by the clear stream flowing beneath this accommodation brought me great peace. The meals were thoughtfully prepared using rich-tasting vegetables and other ingredients. The aroma of grilled fish over charcoal during breakfast surprised me, and my wife was deeply impressed by how deliciously fresh bonito tasted. During our stay, there happened to be a candle event organized by local residents. The words "Tamaruka~" were illuminated on both hotel grounds and harvested rice fields nearby. It felt like being welcomed into an irreplaceable place tied closely to local warmth. Thank you very much!

Exceptional Hospitality
I have visited several times since it opened for the onsen, lunch, and dinner. This is my second stay at the accommodation. I was deeply impressed by the head chef and all the staff. I will visit again. Thank you very much!

No complaints.
I stayed in a detached accommodation. The special feeling of the cottage situated in an independent location, accessed by crossing a suspension bridge. Below, the soothing sound of the river and being surrounded by forest provided a sense of security with no trace of artificial structures. I fully enjoyed this extraordinary experience immersed in nature. I strongly feel that I would like to stay here again.

After several years, I visited Tosayama again. No matter how many times I come here, it’s always a place that soothes the heart. On the way to the accommodation, you can feel the air changing as you enjoy the scenery. This time it was rainy, so I couldn’t enjoy the starry night sky, but I appreciated the gentle lighting indoors and in the hallways.

It was not an auberge.
The staff were very pleasant and left a good impression. However, as an accommodation, it did not meet the standards of an auberge. We stayed in a villa, but the room smelled musty despite being told there was a hinoki aroma, which had no effect at all. Additionally, the room's refrigerator was empty. If you wanted cold drinks, you had to go to the lounge and carry them back yourself in paper cups. As for the meals, when we arrived at the dining area, everything from appetizers to salad, soup-like dishes, and sashimi were already set up on the table. This is unacceptable for an accommodation claiming to be an auberge. While vegetables and fish were of good quality ingredients-wise, they were not utilized effectively. The bonito was cut uniformly for appearance but was impractical for eating purposes. A dish featuring large chunks of raw fish treated as if it were a specialty seemed odd as well; dressing could not coat such large pieces properly making it incomplete as a dish overall. The appetizers resembled side dishes more than anything else—not inherently bad but inappropriate for what should be served at an auberge. The all-inclusive menu felt like something offered in an izakaya’s drink-all-you-can lineup—acceptable if that’s what they’re going for—but there weren’t any other paid options except wine available on their menu either! Offering special sake or beer separately might have made things better since guests would’ve had more appealing choices instead of feeling forced into drinking items they didn’t prefer. Breakfast lacked proper preparation; guests needed themselves cook items like fish/hanpen/eggs personally due absence chef present during morning hours while dinner ended egg-over-rice meal typically associated breakfast even ordinary accommodations let alone those branding themselves under "auberges." Staff members worked hard without ill intentions yet management-level issues ultimately led disappointing experience overall unfortunately

Dinner, Starry Sky Open-Air Bath, and the Murmur of the River... Auberge Tosayama
Dinner The bonito and steak were both delicious, with just the right portion size. The all-you-can-drink option was also a delightful bonus. Breakfast Freshly grilled fish was served, making for a luxurious start to the day. Atmosphere The building exudes the warmth of wood and is surrounded by calming natural sounds. The chirping of insects and the gentle flow of the river created a serene environment for a relaxing stay. All-Inclusive The free drinks were appreciated, but additional thoughtful touches like chilled glasses would have enhanced the experience even more. Onsen The bath itself was excellent, especially the open-air bath where you can gaze at the starry sky—a truly moving experience. However, it became slightly crowded when overlapping with day-use guests, which was unfortunate. Massage Chairs In the lounge area, some day-use guests used massage chairs as regular seats without paying, making it difficult to use them when needed. Having two complimentary massage chairs exclusively for accommodation guests in a separate space would greatly improve comfort and convenience.

Overall, I think thi...
Overall, I think this is a good accommodation. Here are my thoughts on two points: 1. I stayed in the villa building, but it was extremely far from the hotel lounge. Since the accommodation promotes itself as all-inclusive, I believe drinks and other amenities should either be prepared in each room's refrigerator or a dedicated lounge should be set up for the villa building. It was truly disappointing that despite staying in one of the most expensive rooms at the hotel, it was located furthest from hotel services. 2. The breakfast included grilled horse mackerel cooked individually on small charcoal grills at each table, but I found this slightly questionable. The temperature of the grill was low, and it took forever to cook properly; I ended up eating half-cooked fish without realizing if it was done or not. Eventually, we had to request a replacement grill to resolve this issue, but there seemed to be a risk of food poisoning due to improper cooking temperatures—a concern from a risk management perspective. It appeared that guests at neighboring tables also pointed out similar issues. Additionally, smoke filled the dining area due to grilling fish at each table; while some may find this rustic charm appealing, others might find it unpleasant as their clothes and hair absorb odors—especially as they start their day during travel. Providing prior notice about this setup would allow guests to prepare accordingly (e.g., adjusting clothing). Personally speaking, having fish grilled under proper temperature control in the kitchen would not only mitigate risks but also ensure better taste. These are two points that stood out for me; however, other aspects such as dinner quality excellence, spaciousness and stylish design of rooms—and even having no TV(!)—were highly impressive and made for a relaxing stay overall. This is definitely one of those accommodations I'd like to visit again!

A Relaxing Auberge.
It was my first visit in two years. This time, I stayed in the hotel building for the first time, and just like the villa, it was a lovely room with a simple design and a warm wooden feel. The staff were very kind, and I was able to create another wonderful memory with my mother. Thank you so much for all your thoughtful arrangements.

An accommodation with the soothing sound of a flowing river.
In the Room, you can always feel the flow of the river. The blue sky, green mountains, and the azure water of the river were incredibly beautiful. The meals featured a variety of delicious dishes made with an abundance of seafood and mountain delicacies from Kochi. Thanks to the sake pairing that complemented the meals, we were able to enjoy a wide selection of Kochi's sake. It was also delightful to relax in the lounge with drinks during both day and night.

Second Stay
This was my second stay. Once again, the cuisine was excellent and incredibly delicious. This time, I requested a meat dish as the main course, but next time I would like to try a fish dish. The chef kindly served an ayu (sweetfish) dish, allowing me to enjoy the seasonal flavors. Although I had a light lunch, I ended up feeling very full. I was able to relax in the lovely villa room. The onsen was also wonderful. I forgot something during dinner, but it was kindly returned to me, which was very helpful. The staff treated us exceptionally well. They even arranged a celebratory presentation during dinner, creating a memorable experience for us. It was also special that we could enjoy sparklers as a family; the front desk staff informed us of breaks in the rain so we could make the most of it—this gesture was greatly appreciated! When visiting Kochi again, I would love to stay here once more. Since it rained during our visit, we walked across suspension bridges and up stairs and slopes to reach the baths and dining area. For those who may have concerns about walking or footing stability, staying in the hotel building might be more suitable. There are some narrow sections on the road leading to this accommodation where cars cannot pass each other easily; if you are not confident with driving skills, it's advisable to allow extra travel time. Highly recommended for those who want to enjoy nature!

The onsen, service, and meals were excellent. However, during the reservation, the equipment options were limited to CD and Bluetooth. It would have been perfect if a tablet-style TV could be rented upon request.

The service and architecture were excellent.
The food was delicious, and the relaxed hospitality of the local staff felt refreshing compared to the rigid service often found in urban Hotels. The architecture was also remarkable, reflecting a high standard of local public design philosophy. It felt like a more genuinely relaxing summer retreat than places like Karuizawa. The perfect balance of relaxation made it so enjoyable that I hope it doesn't get too crowded, but it's definitely a place I'd love to visit again.

An accommodation worth visiting even from afar.
This was my fifth stay. As expected from an auberge, the meals are absolutely delicious. The locally sourced menu is beautifully presented yet unpretentious, and the portions are generous enough to satisfy even men with hearty appetites. Unusually for an auberge, it features an onsen with a sauna. Since there aren't many rooms, the large communal bath rarely gets crowded. There is no TV, but you can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the area or relax at the accommodation with CDs and books available for borrowing. A new all-inclusive system has been introduced, allowing free drinks during dinner and coffee on the terrace while chatting—making your stay even more enriching. The staff at this accommodation provide just the right level of attentive service to make your stay comfortable. The front desk and restaurant staff remembered our previous visit and greeted us warmly, which made us feel valued as guests—a truly delightful experience. This time we were lucky to participate in a firefly viewing event due to perfect timing. Additionally, there’s a small shop on-site selling local specialties like vegetables; we purchased pre-processed Itadori (Japanese knotweed) and Konatsu (a type of citrus). Blueberries will also be available around July. Surrounded by Tosa-yama's seasonal beauty, this is truly a wonderful accommodation where you can relax deeply. I felt like making my next reservation immediately after returning from this trip. One small note: only yukata are provided as loungewear in-house; bringing casual wear would allow you to go straight out for walks comfortably. Considering the atmosphere of this accommodation, I always think it would be nice if they offered samue-style loungewear instead!

We visited with high expectations, but the facility was outdated, the distance to the annex was long, and we only used the large public bath once. The meals were far from what one would expect from an auberge.
