    An accommodation where you can relax right in front of the Sea of Japan.

    The moment I stepped into the Room, the Sea of Japan and the blue sky filled my view. The scenery from the large sofa by the window was truly wonderful. All of the seafood in the meals was fresh and delicious. After dinner, we went out to the beach and enjoyed beautiful fireworks, which really made it feel like summer. I’d love to visit again in a different season to enjoy more great fish.

    I made a Reservation...

    I made a Reservation because I wanted to see the sunset, but unfortunately we couldn’t see it that day. We also had a great window-side table, and I thought it would have been perfect if we could have enjoyed our meal while watching the evening view. Yunohama Onsen was quiet, without the bustle it once had. All of the dishes were delicious—especially the simmered blackthroat seaperch, which was outstanding. The abalone grilled right in front of us by the head chef was also excellent. If I have the chance, I’d like to visit this Accommodation again. Next time, I hope we’ll be able to see a beautiful sunset.

    A Relaxing Getaway for Retired Couples

    The Facilities are clean, everyone at the Accommodation is kind, and the food is delicious. All rooms have an ocean view, and the sunset sinking into the sandy beach stretching beyond the road in front of the Accommodation is truly moving. However, with this Review form, if you try to edit it and go back, the main text disappears.

    Satisfied!

    Our stay was very comfortable in the new Room with an open-air bath. The reason I rated the meals 4 is that the appetizer served at dinner felt a bit dry and was too firm for me. Everything else was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious local seasonal ingredients.

    Breathtaking Views of the Sea of Japan

    The Room is comfortable and spotless. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the Sea of Japan from the window. Nothing blocks the view. The sparkling sea surface is truly breathtaking. Dinner is kaiseki, and you can take your time in a calm, relaxing setting. Both breakfast and dinner are delicious, made with local ingredients. I learned that Yamagata Prefecture has excellent rice. The bath is also spacious and very relaxing. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

    We were very satisfied.

    I was happy with the matcha service right after arrival. The Onsen had wonderful water, and the sea breeze felt great. The Room was clean and I slept soundly. The meals were carefully prepared with local ingredients and were truly delicious—the rice was excellent too. Thank you for accommodating my allergies. After both dinner and breakfast, I was able to relax in the lounge while enjoying drinks.\nEveryone’s hospitality was attentive, and I had a very pleasant stay.

    Excellent hospitality

    The attendant in charge of our Room also served our meals. They were a great conversationalist, very knowledgeable, and attentive, which made for a wonderful time. Thank you very much. It would have been nice if there were a service allowing us to take the morning lounge coffee back to our Room.

    It felt heartfelt.

    The moment I arrived and stepped into the spotless property, I felt instantly at ease. The view of the Sea of Japan is breathtaking. Each dish showcased a deep respect for local ingredients and was prepared with great care, which truly moved me. The staff who served us were wonderfully attentive, making this a stay I will never forget. The hot spring water left my skin feeling smooth, and it felt as though its warmth lingered long after bathing.

    We stayed here for a special occasion.

    The meals were simply outstanding, and we were completely satisfied. There aren’t many activities nearby, but we felt it was well worth visiting for the food and the Onsen.

    Room: <Japanese-Style Deluxe> Spacious Japanese-style room with ocean view (Japanese-style room) Plan: Savor Shonai, the gourmet capital—premium ingredients and the chef’s masterful skills【Premium Kaiseki -Kiwami-】 What I liked: ・The dining quality was very high; the dishes showcasing local ingredients were outstanding. The dining venue being fully private rooms was also a big plus for families with children. ・The sunset viewed from the open-air bath in the large public bath was breathtaking. However, one of the two large public baths does not have an ocean view, so depending on the time slot you may not be able to bathe while looking out over the Sea of Japan. ・Right outside the Ryokan is a sandy beach, which is extremely convenient when you want to take a walk along the shore. What I didn’t like: ・In-Room amenities felt somewhat lacking. ① There was hot water in a kettle and cold water provided, but no bottled mineral water; we had to buy drinks at the shop or vending machines. Even if it were paid, I would have appreciated having it stocked in the Room. ② Only one yukata per size was provided, so there wasn’t an extra yukata to wear to breakfast. ③ There are no towels in the large public bath, so you need to bring them from your Room; however, there is no bathing basket provided in-room either—you can only borrow one by asking at reception. Because both the views from this Accommodation and the quality of its meals are exceptionally high, I do recommend it. When I stay at Yunohama Onsen again, I would like to choose this Accommodation again as well.

    It was excellent.

    Right in front of the ocean

    The Hotel is located right in front of the sea. In summer, you can fully enjoy swimming in the ocean. The Room had an open-air bath. Although I thought it was a bit expensive, overall, it was worth the price.

    As always, the food and bath were excellent, and I was very satisfied again this time. The Room this time had been renovated, providing an even more comfortable environment. I also enjoyed a delicious breakfast. The breakfast staff was the same as usual, and I appreciate their consistent and dedicated service.

    Highly satisfied.

    Despite the unfortunate weather, I was immediately soothed by the calm atmosphere that remained unchanged from my visit over 10 years ago. The view of the Sea of Japan from the room was truly spectacular. I look forward to enjoying the sunset next time. Every meal was incredibly delicious, and I savored each dish with delight. I am truly happy to have spent time at my favorite accommodation. I definitely want to visit again. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality this time!

    Stunning Sunset

    While hiking leisurely on Mount Gassan, I realized it was close to 5 PM and called in a hurry. The staff responded kindly, saying, "Please take care." I arrived 15 minutes before sunset and was warmly guided to enjoy the sunset first before checking in. It allowed me to witness the most breathtaking view I've ever seen. The Onsen was at a perfect temperature, the large bath was clean, and both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious. Yamagata's rich culinary offerings, especially the fluffy white rice, were outstandingly tasty. This is a wonderful Ryokan I would love to visit again!

    Breakfast

    The breakfast was incredibly delicious. Dinner also featured local sashimi, which was tasty, but the breakfast stood out as particularly exceptional. I believe grilled sablefish was served, along with a variety of side dishes. Among them, the green chili miso was especially delightful.

    I stayed here once over 10 years ago and recently visited again after a long time. Back then, I checked in after sunset and couldn't see much of the surroundings, but the bath and the view from the window were magical. This time, I checked in during daylight hours and noticed some slight wear over time, but it was still clean and more than satisfactory. Having dinner while watching the sunset was wonderful; however, it was a bit disappointing that the windows were taped shut for safety reasons (including those in the Room), so they couldn't be opened. Both dinner and breakfast were extremely satisfying. Thank you for the delicious meals!

    It was an accommodation with excellent hospitality.

    I chose this accommodation for its beautiful sunsets, but I was also impressed by the comfort of the tatami in the room. The view of the light blue sea, sky, and horizon from the daybed by the window was stunning, allowing me to relax completely. What amazed me most was that instead of using typical bed-making styles with decorative bed covers, this accommodation used clean white duvet covers that were not tucked into the mattress. This made it much more comfortable to sleep without feeling restricted during movements at night—a refreshing change from tiring nights at other accommodations where such setups are common. In places where many guests stay, it's unclear what might have been placed on top of decorative bed covers or how often they are washed. I truly appreciated this thoughtful style and couldn't help but applaud it. Additionally, tatami flooring felt much cleaner than carpets that people walk on with shoes. It was a wonderful experience showcasing Japan's unique hospitality. The room lighting was well-considered in both brightness and variety, making it easy to plan for the next day, take notes, or read books comfortably. The meals were diverse and delicious, and I admired the attentiveness of those who took care of us. Everything about this accommodation was perfect; however, if I may make one suggestion—it would be ideal if pajamas or jinbei-style loungewear were available for rent even at an additional cost. Many hotels nowadays provide modern loungewear instead of traditional yukata robes; hence I did not bring my own this time. While yukata offers a unique Japanese ryokan atmosphere, they can be slightly inconvenient for sleeping. Although access via train is somewhat challenging due to its location, I would love to visit again someday. Thank you very much!

    The hot water was excellent!

    The Onsen water was amazing, leaving my skin smooth and hydrated without the need for lotion—absolutely perfect! I wish I could have had a Multiple Night Stay. I particularly enjoyed the large public bath on the garden side, which felt more relaxing than the sea view. The meals were delightful, and above all, the rice was exceptionally delicious—I couldn't help but eat too much! Although it rained during my stay, I still had a wonderful and relaxing time. Thank you very much!

    The location is excellent! Great view from the Room! The meals are...

    The location is excellent, and the moment you check in and open the door to your Room, the stunning view of the Sea of Japan instantly lifts your spirits. However, the meals were disappointing. While there were some tasty dishes, others had bland flavors or lacked any taste at all, leaving both dinner and breakfast underwhelming. The dining area was also inconvenient for a family member with mobility issues; there were no supports or seating available for putting on or taking off shoes or slippers, and although staff were present, they showed little consideration. The bath lacked an outdoor option, children were running around noisily—perhaps inevitable at a seaside Ryokan. There was no coffee service either; even the herbal tea offered for two hours in the evening required searching for staff to request it. Overall, it left a disjointed impression.

    Ryokan with Ocean View

    The room offers a great location with views of the Sea of Japan from the window. One of the baths also overlooks the sea, allowing you to relax while enjoying the view. The meals were delicious, especially the sashimi, which was exceptional. It is about a 10-minute taxi ride from Shonai Airport, costing 2,720 yen each way for your reference.

    It was excellent!

    We recently stayed here for a birthday trip with my sister. The other guests were pleasant, and we enjoyed a quiet and peaceful time. On the day of our arrival, there was a severe snowstorm, and the sea was rough with roaring sounds. However, the next morning, sunlight streamed through gaps in the clouds, revealing beautiful colors in the sky visible from our room. Although we expected bad weather during midwinter, we were delighted to see such a clear morning view—it was stunning. I imagine the sunset would be even more beautiful, so I hope to visit again in early summer! The room was spacious and very clean. For dinner, they served dishes themed for that month—a delightful Hina Matsuri meal set that was adorable! The food itself was incredibly delicious. Breakfast was truly luxurious and made us feel very pampered. The rice served at breakfast (Tsuyahime) was exceptionally tasty—absolutely unforgettable! The onsen had several types of baths; they were spacious and allowed us to relax fully. Additionally, various services provided by the accommodation were excellent. I would love to stay here again and highly recommend this accommodation to others! Thank you so much!
