Yunoka Matsunoyu

We stayed in a Room with a private Onsen. We also used the large public bath, and since there are only a few Rooms, we were able to enjoy it privately. I couldn’t tell the difference between the two hot spring sources, but the water was soft and the temperature was just right. In any case, the garden is wonderful. Although Tendo Onsen is located in town, it’s in a calm setting where you can hear cicadas. And the food is outstanding—no typical “just to increase the number of dishes” meals; instead, you can enjoy local and seasonal ingredients prepared with care and served with refined flavors. They also have an excellent selection of Dewazakura sake. I stay at various Accommodations for work, and among those that fit our budget and lifestyle, this is one of the very best. We’d love to stay again.

We stayed in a Room with a semi-open-air bath. The in-room bath was great, and the large public bath was spacious and wonderful; around 5:00 PM there were no other guests, so we were able to enjoy a truly luxurious time. The water quality was excellent as well. Meals were served in the Room for parties of two or fewer, which was very convenient. Dinner felt like classic Ryokan cuisine while also reflecting the season, which we really enjoyed. The main steak was delicious and nicely marbled with a generous portion, but it became a bit heavy toward the end due to the richness; it would be even better if there were an option to choose filet (even with a slightly smaller portion). Breakfast was lavish, and the rice was delicious—we were very satisfied. The service was kind and attentive: they drove us to our sightseeing destination on departure day, stored our luggage until we left Tendo, and then took us to the station as well. We truly appreciated their hospitality. Also, there was an “resident” cat by the garden near the entrance—it was adorable.
