    This happened on a snowy day.

    The view from the open-air bath in our Room was amazing. Because we stayed on a snowy day, we couldn’t see a blue sky, but soaking while looking out at the sea and Oshima across the water felt truly luxurious. On the day of checkout, we wanted to catch the 11:17 train from Kawana Station, so we asked you to make a taxi Reservation for 10:50 and completed checkout around 10:45. However, due to the snow, the taxi never arrived, and we were told you could not reach the taxi company either, so you offered to drive us to the station in your vehicle. We waited at the front desk until the car was ready. We got into the car at 11:04, and even according to maps our arrival time at Kawana Station was 11:18. Your staff said we might still make it, so we headed to Kawana Station. But by the time we crossed the railroad crossing near the station, the train had already arrived. Since I was traveling with my mother (in her 80s), we couldn’t run through the station grounds, and in the end we missed it. After dropping us off, your vehicle quickly drove away from the rotary. The next train was at 12:06. With heavy snow falling and nowhere warm to wait—and with shops closed because it was Sunday—we waited for 50 minutes on a bench at an unmanned-feeling station. It was extremely cold.

    Basically satisfied.

    It would have been nice to have a small table in the open-air bath area. Also, since it was a maisonette-style room, having a toilet near the bedroom would be more convenient and reassuring for older guests. Other than that, we were very satisfied.

    We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday.

    To celebrate my husband’s birthday, we made a Reservation for the “Moon Boat” Room with the Anniversary Plan. As I am pregnant, you were considerate in every way—not only adjusting the meals, but also preparing a non-alcoholic drink for me instead of the Anniversary Plan sparkling wine. The Room felt like a private standalone house, so we could relax without worrying about our surroundings. The Onsen was spacious, and I enjoyed it many times whenever I had time. Since the weather was clear, we could see countless stars at night. Every year we take an Onsen trip as a birthday gift for my husband, and he said this was the best one yet. We would love to stay again.

    A welcoming accommodation where you can truly relax from the heart

    My spouse and I stayed for one night in mid-December. Not only did we enjoy a high-quality, relaxing time while taking in the open, beautiful scenery, but the heartfelt hospitality and warm atmosphere created by the proprietress and all the staff allowed us to truly unwind—an invaluable experience that is hard to find elsewhere. The meals were also a luxurious spread featuring local ingredients, and we were able to enjoy them at our leisure in a private dining room. The portions were a bit large, and I feel sorry that we couldn’t finish everything. We were moved by the beautiful starry sky seen from the open-air bath. We would love to return when work has worn us out, to heal and recharge as time flows by at a gentle pace.

    Both the bath and the meals were excellent.

    I was really looking forward to the bath with an ocean view. The weather was great, and the scenery was amazing! The sunrise and the starry sky were also wonderful. Above all, the meals were truly outstanding. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared down to the smallest details, and everything was delicious. It was so amazing that I can honestly say it had the best food of any Accommodation I’ve stayed at so far!

    An accommodation you’ll want to return to again and again

    This was an Accommodation I’d been curious about for a long time. We stayed in the single-story Room “Ryoya,” and it was wonderful not only at night, but also in the morning and even during the day (lol). What surprised me at check-in was the private open-air bath attached to the Room. A true open-air bath!! Like, “Yes—this is what an open-air bath is” kind of bath. Right in front of you is the ocean, and Izu Oshima!! The Room had a traditional old-house style, was impeccably clean, and we were able to relax a lot. Everyone welcomed us on arrival and saw us off when we left—it was so warm and kind that I didn’t want to go home (lol). The person in charge was friendly and easy to talk to, with a great attitude. The amount of food was just right for us, delicious, and we were completely satisfied. The chopsticks we used during the meal were surprisingly easy to use, and they were sold as souvenirs, so we bought a pair. We’ll start using them after the New Year. It really was a wonderful Accommodation. We’d love to come again.

    The open-air bath with breathtaking views is outstanding.

    We were blessed with great weather and truly enjoyed the breathtaking open-air bath. A sky full of stars at night and a moving sunrise in the morning—when it comes to the bath, it was among the best of any Accommodation we have stayed at. We also enjoyed the meals. The only concern was that the Room heating was a fan heater. Even when we tried to turn on the air conditioner, the power button just kept blinking and it wouldn’t start. I wondered if it was broken, which is why a fan heater was provided… This wasn’t only on the first floor but also on the second floor. It would turn off after a while, and each time we turned it back on there was that distinctive fan-heater smell. Since the fan heater also seemed old, I couldn’t help but worry about carbon monoxide poisoning. That part alone… was disappointing.

    Quality of Hospitality and Consideration

    This was my first visit to this accommodation. I had known it as a famous place for some time. My honest impression after staying here is that it truly is a wonderful accommodation. The facility was impeccably clean, the staff maintained just the right level of attentiveness, and their professionalism, including that of the attendants, left me deeply impressed. The view from the bath was unparalleled, with a large open-air onsen offering breathtaking scenery. The meals were also meticulously prepared and highly satisfying dishes. A temporary escape into another world away from the hustle and bustle of city life. However, I have two points of constructive feedback: First, regarding the onsen water quality—after warming up in the bath, there was a lingering disinfectant smell on my skin... While I understand this is for hygiene purposes, it was slightly disappointing. If it were natural flowing hot spring water (gensen kakenagashi), I would definitely become a regular visitor! Second is about the food—while all dishes exceeded average standards in quality, there wasn’t any standout specialty or signature dish that left an impression; everything felt like it stayed within "decently good" territory. That said, even when cooled down, the beef remained tender and high-quality. If improvements could be made to enhance these aspects of your onsen’s water quality in particular—it would bring this experience closer to perfection! Overall though—it was two relaxing days with great value for time spent here!

    I was satisfied.

    I stayed for one night with my wife to celebrate her birthday and our wedding anniversary. As seen on social media, the view from the Room and the open-air bath was absolutely satisfying. We enjoyed a full moon at night and a beautiful sunrise in the morning. Thank you very much. However, turning the lights on and off in the guest Room (especially in the bedroom) was inconvenient as it wasn’t controlled by a remote. During late-night trips to the restroom, we had to fumble around using our phone lights. Additionally, it was disappointing that the dining Room was cold. I understand that keeping doors open is necessary for serving meals, but some seasonal considerations would have been appreciated. Also, not just here at Tsuki no Usagi but generally speaking, having meal Plans tailored for seniors or those with smaller appetites would be great—both for customer satisfaction and reducing food waste. That said, both my wife and I talked about wanting to stay again. We are considering coming back for her birthday in September!

    Hope to visit again

    It has been 20 years since I first learned about this accommodation (back then, it was so difficult to make a reservation that I gave up for a while). I was finally able to visit, and it truly lived up to its reputation as a wonderful accommodation. The view of the Izu sea from the room with an open-air bath was breathtaking, with both sunset and sunrise being stunningly beautiful, offering a serene and refreshing experience. The cuisine and service were also satisfying, making me want to visit again. As I've grown older, one important point when choosing a ryokan is accessibility; since this is a two-story building, it might be challenging for elderly parents. Therefore, I hope to revisit while I'm still in good physical condition.

    It was a wonderful experience.

    This was my first stay at this accommodation. I received a confirmation call before my stay, which heightened my expectations, and they also inquired about food allergies, making me feel very reassured. The room and bath were spacious and relaxing—I even fell asleep while watching TV. The bath was truly wonderful; I thought I’d take a dip five times! Although I didn’t manage that many, I thoroughly enjoyed gazing at the starry night sky or waiting for the sunrise during a morning bath. The meals were all delicious, but the portions were quite large, and I felt bad for leaving some behind. We discussed that breakfast could be slightly smaller in portion size, so we deducted one star with hopes for improvement in this area—but the food itself was excellent! Additionally, my partner had a meeting during breakfast time in the morning, and we appreciated how considerate they were by ensuring doors were opened and closed quietly to avoid noise—it made us happy to see such thoughtfulness! The international staff members explained everything earnestly as well—it was heartwarming to see their efforts. We used taxis during our trip, and they kindly arranged one for us at checkout time—this was very helpful. I hope to work hard every day so that we can stay here again someday!

    A Blissful Moment

    We stayed for two nights to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. The Room had a spacious and traditional Japanese atmosphere, allowing us to relax and unwind. Outside, there was an open-air bath with a breathtaking view of the vast sky and ocean beyond. At night, we enjoyed soaking in the bath while gazing at the star-filled sky—a truly rejuvenating experience. The meals were abundant in variety and absolutely delicious, complemented by warm and welcoming hospitality. Thank you for providing such a comfortable space, memorable moments, and thoughtful care.

    It was an amazing experience.

    Everything was amazing. The view of the Izu Islands and the ocean from the open-air bath was breathtaking. The meals were exceptional as well. What delighted me most was the kotatsu in the room. It felt like spending time at a countryside home, offering a relaxing and leisurely experience. I would definitely love to stay here again. Instead of going sightseeing, simply unwinding here is also a great option—it’s that comfortable of an accommodation. Since there are no convenience stores nearby, it might be a good idea to bring snacks or drinks, though with such luxurious meals, you might not even need them! Additionally, the open-air bath was incredible. On clear nights without a moon, you can enjoy a sky full of stars. If you have a camera capable of long exposure photography, you could even capture stunning astrophotography thanks to how dark the sky is here. The open-air bath faces eastward, so from spring through summer, you can enjoy views of the Milky Way right from there!

    It was excellent.

    I visited last year for my birthday and had such a wonderful experience that I decided to bring my mother, who loves Onsen and seafood, for her birthday this time. From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. The staff carefully confirmed our food preferences multiple times and even arranged a surprise for the birthday celebration. It was the ultimate relaxation after tiring days. I would love to visit again!

    A Long-Awaited Stay at a Japanese Ryokan

    I used the accommodation to celebrate my partner's birthday. The accommodation and bath were excellent, and I would love to visit again. However, the air conditioning in the upstairs bedroom of the annex was not effective, and it felt quite cold. Regarding foreign staff, there were some misunderstandings as they could not understand our language well, highlighting a need for improved communication skills. At breakfast, the timing of when foreign staff asked about refills was poor; we had to leave our room specifically to request them. Additionally, they came at the end of the meal saying refills were available, showing a lack of understanding regarding timing. I hope for more thorough training in this area. For dinner service, Japanese staff attended us perfectly in every way.

    Having an open-air bath in the Room was delightful. However, I also wanted to try a larger bath. The meals were excellent, and the staff's service was perfect. It became a wonderful memory for me.

    This was my first visit in two years. Unlike last time, I chose the upgraded meal plan this time. The flavors were rich, and everything was delicious. The turban shell provided as part of the upgrade was the largest I’ve ever seen, and the spiny lobster was incredibly satisfying in volume—absolutely delightful! The portions were so generous that it might be a bit much for some women, but in a good way! As for the Room, it still offered breathtaking views as before. Blessed with great weather, I could relax in the bathtub and rejuvenate my body. Later at night, I felt like having a drink and purchased some alcohol from the fridge. They had local beers from Izu, Asahi beer, and lemon sours available to enjoy even late at night. It seems ice can only be requested until midnight (12:00 AM). While having an ice machine available 24/7 would have been ideal, buying ice from a nearby convenience store beforehand works fine since there’s a freezer available too. Next time, I'll make sure to bring some ice along to enhance both my bath time and nighttime enjoyment! I definitely want to visit again! Thank you very much!

    It was great.

    Each accommodation is in a separate building, and we stayed in the furthest single-story house, walking through a bamboo grove to reach it. The open-air bath was particularly wonderful, offering a stunning view of Sagami Bay while bathing. However, it was slightly disappointing that there were no table seats in the dining area and that there were many steps throughout the property, which posed challenges for those with mobility issues. The dishes featuring abalone and alfonsino were creatively prepared and absolutely delicious.

    Blessed with good weather

    I finally had the chance to visit the accommodation I had always dreamed of. The weather was perfect for both nights, and I enjoyed beautiful views of the sunrise. The building seems a bit aged, and I could hear sounds coming from the connecting part with the neighboring room. At times, sudden noises from the neighboring room's door opening and closing startled me. The meals were delightful over two days with different menus catering to various tastes.     Annual tradition

    We have been using this accommodation every year at my mother's request. There was a minor issue last year, but it has been resolved, which gave us peace of mind. The view from the open-air bath is breathtaking and mesmerizing. The food has always been delicious, but this year it was even better. I personally enjoyed dishes that allowed me to savor the broth. Despite rising costs for ingredients and utilities, efforts to adjust ingredient combinations and portions while maintaining overall cost balance have resulted in very high satisfaction with the Accommodation Fee. Even my mother, who wasn't very enthusiastic this year, was extremely satisfied and said she would like to come again next year. We will definitely use your accommodation again. Thank you very much!

    I stayed here with my mother for a two-person trip. From arrival to departure, the hospitality was consistently pleasant. There were several foreign guests as well, and the staff provided thorough and earnest explanations, leaving a very positive impression. The bath offered breathtaking views as expected. Although it was warmer than anticipated due to the effects of a typhoon, the sea breeze was refreshing and made for an excellent experience. The only downside, which is truly unavoidable in nature, was the presence of many insects. We decided against using the open-air bath at night because of this. A centipede appeared in the bathroom area, which caused some panic; however, when we called reception, they responded promptly and calmly resolved the situation. As this is an old traditional house-style accommodation, some creaking noises from the floor were noticeable. Additionally, there wasn’t a restroom on the second floor where our bedroom was located. This made it slightly challenging for my elderly mother to go downstairs during nighttime trips to use the restroom. Despite these minor inconveniences overall we were very satisfied with our stay. I would love to visit again when it gets cooler and there are fewer insects around!

    Stunning open-air baths and exceptional dining.

    Amidst the tranquility, you can hear the sounds of waves, wind, and birds during the day, and the soothing chirping of autumn insects at night—a truly extraordinary and relaxing experience. We enjoyed a full-course pairing with Japanese sake, which exceeded our expectations and was delightful. The grilled golden eye snapper (Kinmedai) in Tanba style was absolutely exceptional.

    It was a bit disappointing.

    It was my first visit, and I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, due to the rain, I couldn't enjoy the ocean view that should have been spectacular. However, I believe the most important aspect of an Onsen accommodation is the Onsen itself. The private open-air bath in the room was spacious and impressive like no other I've experienced before. That said, since there isn't a proper roof, it might be uncomfortable to stay in during heavy rain. Additionally, the water wasn't free-flowing from a natural source and had a strong chlorine smell similar to a swimming pool, which was disappointing for an Onsen experience. As for other aspects such as meals and service, they were handled with care and politeness. The room had an unpleasant musty smell from the air conditioner that bothered me. Considering this price range, unfortunately, I would rate it below average overall despite its potential with such stunning views—it feels like a missed opportunity.

    I first stayed here 11 years ago, but due to a typhoon, I arrived late and couldn't fully enjoy the bath or the view. Despite the inconvenience caused by my late arrival, the staff handled everything, including the meal arrangements, smoothly at that time. Since I had always regretted not being able to fully enjoy my stay, I decided to visit again for the second time, combining it with a celebration of my 10th wedding anniversary—and it turned out to be the perfect decision. The private open-air bath in the room, with its breathtaking view, is highly recommended. Surrounded by the sounds of birds and waves, with a gentle breeze occasionally brushing by, the expansive ocean view and the distant sight of Izu Oshima offer ever-changing beauty throughout the day. The night sea reflects the moonlight so beautifully—it was like a painting when I took a photo, but nothing compares to seeing it in person. To have such a space where you can immerse yourself in nature with all your senses, undisturbed, is truly rejuvenating. The room itself, while retaining its charm, showed no signs of aging. The water facilities were updated with the latest equipment, making them very user-friendly. The creaking of the second-floor flooring and stairs, rather than being a nuisance, added a quaint charm that felt special, especially for someone like me who lives in the city. The quality of the cuisine matched the excellence of the room and the view. The taste, portion size, and presentation were all highly satisfying. The hostess personally greeted and saw us off, and all the staff were welcoming and attentive, accommodating even our smallest requests with a smile. From start to finish, the experience was delightful. True to the name of the accommodation, rabbit-themed ornaments, paintings, and designs on tableware and small items were scattered throughout, bringing a sense of warmth and comfort every time I noticed them. What started as a "revenge" visit turned into a stay that made me want to return again and again. This is a truly wonderful accommodation. Thank you for the exceptional hospitality.
