    My first trip to Morioka! Amazing Onsen!

    As I was traveling without a car, easy access from the station was essential. The deciding factors for my stay at this Hotel were the shuttle bus service and the excellent Reviews of the Onsen. My Room was on a high floor with a great view, and I was truly impressed by the scenery from the window! The free-flowing natural hot spring water was also wonderful. Dinner was kaiseki plus a half buffet, and they kindly accommodated changes for ingredients I can’t eat. I honestly didn’t expect much from the Sansa Odori show, but it was thoughtfully put together—and I ended up completely captivated. It was fantastic. I even bought a Sansa Odori tenugui towel in town... One disappointing point: I don’t think the steam sauna was turned on. Please check!

    Watch the Sansa Odori Dance!

    Watching the live Sansa Dance performance was a lot of fun and really lifted my spirits. From the Room on the 11th floor, we had a great view of Gosho Lake. This is an Accommodation I would like to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    The view is wonderful...

    This was my first stay in about 10 years. We were lucky with the weather, and it was wonderful to have a clear view of Gosho Lake and Mt. Iwate from the Room. While some parts of the building showed their age, the meals and hospitality were excellent, and overall I was very satisfied. However, when I went to the open-air bath, a large group of Chinese guests were talking loudly, which made me uncomfortable and I couldn’t bring myself to enter. There is also a door between the indoor bath and the open-air bath with a notice in Japanese asking guests to keep it closed, but they apparently couldn’t read it and left it wide open—I was astonished. After that, I paid closer attention to signs around the property and noticed there is very little information displayed in foreign languages. Given how many inbound visitors you are receiving, I believe at least English and Chinese signage is necessary. Since this is Japan, if such behavior by some tourists is overlooked, it inconveniences other guests and could lead to fewer Japanese customers. Please respond firmly rather than leniently when necessary.

    There are many types of Onsen, and the food was delicious, so we had a wonderful time. The Sansa Dance was truly moving.

    I made a Reservation...

    I made a Reservation on ChatGPT’s recommendation. I had forgotten that I had stayed here before—perhaps it didn’t leave much of an impression last time. This time, I was very impressed. The baths were excellent, and I really enjoyed the open-air bath as well. What stood out most was watching the Sansa Odori dance performance in the building. I had only known the name and had never seen it in person, but I was truly moved by how wonderful it was. The food and service were just right, and I was very satisfied overall.

    Top-tier prices, third-rate quality.

    First-class prices, third-rate quality: cheap clothing displays in the lobby like a bargain arcade, possibly overcrowded baths, worn and poorly maintained interiors throughout, and sloppy front desk staff with a messy office. Overall, this Ryokan is not worth the high price charged.

    Very satisfied with the one-night stay including two meals.

    The trickling hot spring is very unique, and the other two outdoor baths offer beautiful scenery. The water quality is excellent, leaving the body feeling refreshed after soaking. Dinner was a kaiseki course featuring seasonal spring ingredients, including Iwate wagyu beef, Sanriku kombu kelp, and the famous “Hitomebore” rice. Every dish showed the chef’s care and attention, and the apple sorbet dessert was especially memorable. The breakfast buffet was very generous as well, with many local specialties—particularly the tomato juice, made by peeling the tomatoes before blending it, which was incredibly delicious. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I look forward to coming back again.

    Everything was comfortable.

    We were able to secure a cancellation for the Premium Room, which had been fully booked when we first made our Reservation, and stayed as a family. The Room size, Facility amenities, and view were all wonderful—everyone in our family was completely satisfied. It became an unforgettable stay. In addition to the large public bath, we thoroughly enjoyed the in-room bath and the semi-private open-air bath both at night and in the morning. Snow started falling during the night, so we unexpectedly got to experience a snow-viewing bath—something we all felt was truly luxurious and unforgettable. The Hotel staff were also exceptionally kind and attentive, and everything exceeded our expectations. From the day we checked out, we’ve been saying how much we want to return—and stay in that same Room again—and we’re still savoring those happy memories.

    We would like to stay again.

    I stayed for three nights starting February 20. When I arrived at the nearest bus stop, I hadn’t made a Reservation, but they kindly let me ride the shuttle. The driver was so fun that my excitement shot up right away. After checking in and entering my Room on the 8th floor, I was thrilled all over again by the view of Mt. Iwate and Lake Gosho. The much-talked-about open-air bath in a traditional Nanbu magariya style, the meals where you can enjoy many small portions of local cuisine, and the lounge where you can have a beer after your bath— everything made for such a wonderful time and atmosphere. Thank you very much. I’d love to come back again!

    Birthday & MISIA Live

    We visited for a birthday celebration and the MISIA concert in Morioka. We stayed in a Premium Room. The meals, room, and service exceeded our expectations and surprised us. The MISIA concert was amazing, and it was our first time in Morioka—it was fantastic. We would love to visit again!

    I had a great time.

    The room was on the 11th floor. The Room was spacious with a stunning view of the mountains and lake. Although there were some minor cleaning issues, overall it was clean. The bath area had two types of large public baths with a gender-swapping system, allowing us to enjoy four different styles. The bathtubs were spacious, there were plenty of washing areas, and the atmosphere at the natural hot spring bath was delightful. For dinner, we chose a banquet-style meal which offered sufficient variety and quantity; everything was delicious, especially the abalone. The breakfast buffet was crowded but well-managed by staff who guided guests and replenished items promptly. There were many local dishes available, which I appreciated. Since it was the weekend, we also got to watch Sansa Odori dance performances—an experience that left us very satisfied! We would love to visit again!

    It was a great trip.

    I stayed here for my first trip with him. Despite being very crowded during the year-end, we were able to enjoy the Onsen before dinner, and the dinner buffet was highly satisfying. The small sukiyaki pot was especially delicious. After dinner, there was a Sansa Odori dance event in the lobby, which made for an enjoyable evening. Back in our room, we were grateful to receive ice from the front desk to enjoy drinks. The next morning, we had the chance to try a different Onsen from the one we used the previous day and were extremely satisfied. After relaxing in the Onsen, we headed straight to breakfast and enjoyed a delicious meal. We arrived slightly early but noticed that by the time we finished eating and left, there was already a line of people waiting outside as all seats were occupied—so our timing worked out perfectly. This is definitely a Hotel I would love to visit again!

    To celebrate my wife's birthday at Morioka Tsunagi Onsen.

    To celebrate my wife's last birthday in her 60s, I made a reservation at "Morioka Tsunagi Onsen Hotel Shion" for a one-night stay. We were grateful to receive a birthday gift from the staff. The dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and we were fully satisfied with the meals. The onsen had perfect water temperature, allowing us to relax comfortably. The accommodation cost was also very reasonable, so we would love to stay here again.

    The staff's hospital...

    The staff's hospitality was excellent, as also mentioned in the hotel survey. The meals were satisfying as well. However, the aging of the facility was noticeable. For example, I was surprised that many of the toilets were traditional Japanese-style.

    A warm and welcoming Hotel

    The accommodation features two Onsen: "Nanbu Magariya no Yu" and "Hitorijime no Yu." Among the two, "Hitorijime no Yu" had stronger hairdryer power and provided hair treatment milk, which was a nice touch. The dining area was divided with partitions, allowing for a relaxed meal experience. For dinner, we enjoyed seafood hot pot, pork hot pot, and sashimi. The half-buffet offered plenty of food to fill us up. Tempura included three types: whiting fish, shrimp, and sweet potato. The beef steak had a slightly sweet sauce but was delicious. There were also salads, tasty pickles, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), and desserts available. At 8:15 PM, we watched the Sansa Odori dance performance. We enjoyed the drum sounds and dancing. For breakfast, freshly made tomato juice prepared by staff right in front of us was incredibly delicious—I even went back for seconds. We booked an accommodation plan that included tickets to Koiwai Farm; although these were supposed to be distributed on the day after our stay, we requested them earlier on our check-in day due to our schedule. Thank you for accommodating our request despite it being inconvenient. This is a warm and welcoming hotel—thank you for your hospitality!

    Traditional Large Ryokan

    The staff here always greet guests warmly when passing by, providing excellent and pleasant service. Thoughtful amenities are available throughout, such as bath chairs and diaper bins for children. Complimentary drinks are provided in the lobby (available from around 8 AM to 8 PM). The Onsen features a natural hot spring bath with flowing water, offering a soothing and skin-friendly experience. Meals are served in a banquet hall divided by partitions for a private dining feel. Dinner is a semi-buffet style, while breakfast is buffet-style, allowing you to enjoy local specialty dishes. This Ryokan has a nostalgic traditional atmosphere and offers great value for money.

    The three baths were...

    The three baths were too small, the showerhead position in the large public bath was too low, and there was a queue at breakfast (after 7 AM) that prevented entry. Other than these issues, I was very satisfied with the dinner style and content, as well as the Room facilities.

    It was an extremely satisfying accommodation!

    As our trip was focused on enjoying the Onsen, we chose this accommodation where the room's bath also uses natural hot spring water. In addition to the private bath in the room, there are two large public baths with a variety of options. We used both in the evening and morning, and especially loved the serene atmosphere of the Nanbu Magariya-style large public bath. The dinner was luxurious with a wide variety of dishes, yet not overly excessive in quantity, allowing us to enjoy everything until the last bite. The children's meal was beautifully presented with great attention to detail, which made my child very happy. For this trip, it was just me and my child traveling together. Since I wanted to enjoy Onsen late at night or early in the morning, we stayed in a Premium Room. The room exceeded our expectations—it was spacious and even had a mini kitchen, which we greatly appreciated! The amenities were luxurious and using them brought joy! There were also plenty of amenities for children as well as rental options available for added convenience. On our way home, my child mentioned wanting to stay here again. Next time, we hope to visit as two generations—parent and grandchild—to create more wonderful memories!

    Premium Room - The Best!

    The futon is fluffy. Onsen with free-flowing hot spring water. The front desk staff is lovely. Watching the Sansa Odori dance was a delightful bonus. The host seems like he could become popular on YouTube! However, the breakfast was shockingly disappointing—probably the worst I've ever had. Maybe even budget hotels like Toyoko Inn offer better breakfasts? I’d gladly pay extra for a proper breakfast. Is that too much to ask?

    Highly Satisfied

    My husband and I stayed here for the first time. The place was very clean, the Room was spacious, and we had a comfortable stay. Both the meals and the private open-air bath were extremely satisfying. The breakfast buffet, in particular, had a wide variety of dishes and was incredibly delicious. Unfortunately, we couldn’t try all the options! (laughs) We are planning to visit again in November with my mother. Thank you very much!

    Highly satisfied!!

    I used this Ryokan for my girlfriend's birthday, and thanks to the incredibly pleasant service, we were extremely satisfied. Since I had made a reservation for an anniversary plan on IKYU, sparkling wine and dessert were included in the room. The dessert provided was luxurious and exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed three types of Onsen, including a private bath, all of which were fantastic! After relaxing in the baths, we looked forward to the half-buffet dinner. The table was filled with luxurious dishes, and there was also a buffet-style selection including steak. We were very satisfied! The abalone was the softest and most delicious we've ever had. Additionally, Koiwai pudding was exceptional! I secretly booked this Ryokan for her birthday through a reservation without telling her beforehand. I was worried about how it would turn out if it wasn’t good enough, but thanks to their warm hospitality, both of us started our second day of travel feeling completely satisfied. We will definitely use this place again when visiting Iwate! Thank you so much!!

    Stunning View, Standard Onsen Accommodation

    The view is outstanding, with a man-made lake spreading out before you and Mount Iwate visible in the distance on clear days. The room is a standard tatami room. Dinner is served downstairs at tables, with half of the meal pre-prepared and the other half offered as a buffet. The platinum pork shabu-shabu was delicious, and local dishes like Jajamen noodles and Wanko soba were also available at the buffet. Breakfast was also served as a buffet in the same venue. The Onsen facilities are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors, with separate areas for men and women that switch between night and morning use. However, the changing rooms were quite steamy, and the hairdryers felt overly hot—using your room's dryer might be more comfortable. The Onsen water is weakly alkaline sulfur-based but didn’t feel particularly slippery to touch. A welcome drink such as coffee or tea provided in the lobby was much appreciated. Given its price point, it feels like an average Onsen accommodation—suitable for those prioritizing cost-effectiveness.

    I stayed in a Premium Room. It had an open-air bath, allowing me to relax at my own pace. The spaciousness, well-equipped amenities, and beverages in the refrigerator were all satisfying.

    Comfortable Stay

    The lobby is spacious, and welcome drinks were provided. The facility is well-maintained and the natural flowing Onsen was very relaxing. Dinner was a half-buffet style, allowing us to enjoy delicious dishes of our choice, which was wonderful. Breakfast was a buffet as well, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The view of Mt. Iwate from the room was fantastic. Thank you very much!

    I think the cost performance is good.

    I missed the opportunity to use the bath in the Southern Minka on the 3rd floor as it closes at 10 PM. Although it was mentioned in the instructions, I wish this had been highlighted during check-in. Additionally, the sliding door of the toilet in my Room made a very loud noise, which was quite noticeable. I could also hear similar sounds from other Rooms, presumably from their toilet doors. This was particularly bothersome at night and early morning, making me cautious when using it. That said, I believe the cost performance is excellent and would consider staying again if given another opportunity.

    Family-friendly Accommodation

    It was great to see the Sansa Odori. The children's meal options differed between lower and upper grades, which was also nice. Both the bath and the room were excellent. These are comments from my daughter’s family visiting from Switzerland.

    At check-in, I was told that the Reservation had not been made and had to wait for 20-30 minutes, which was the most disappointing part. In the end, the Reservation was confirmed, but I arrived at the Accommodation shortly after 3 PM hoping to check in early. However, by the time I was shown to my Room, my plans were disrupted.

    Excellent Accommodation

    I was very much looking forward to it since making the Reservation. The shuttle bus made access convenient, and the Room was very spacious with an absolutely stunning view! The welcome drink provided in the lobby was truly appreciated. There were two baths, both of which were excellent. The natural hot spring bath was exceptional. The staff's hospitality was incredibly kind and outstanding. Watching the Sansa Odori dance became a memorable part of our trip. The mystery-solving game was well-crafted, and we thoroughly enjoyed it as two adults fully immersed in the experience. It turned out to be a perfect trip to Morioka. Thank you very much!
