    Highly satisfied

    I saw Hida-tei Hanaougi featured on TV and knew I wanted to visit. When my wish finally came true, the hospitality, cuisine, and Onsen were even better than they looked on TV—I was completely satisfied. I’d love to stay again.

    I stayed in Takayama...

    I stayed in Takayama for the first time in a while with friends. The Onsen was wonderful, and I was able to relax. The food and the staff were very kind, and I had a pleasant stay. Thank you very much.

    Although there didn’t seem to be many staff members, the service was very attentive, and we had a wonderful time. The entire building has tatami flooring, so it was comfortable to walk around barefoot. Thank you very much.

    Satisfied with the Onsen and the cuisine

    The hot spring water was wonderfully silky and thick, just as the reviews said. We chose a Room with a private dining area. Being able to grill Hida beef ourselves was great, but a distinctive smell had already permeated the Room from the start, and it bothered us quite a bit both at night and in the morning. Ventilating and deodorizing in advance would make it more comfortable. There were no hooks for bathrobes or towels in the Room, so I would like you to install them. The service was not bad, but compared with other Accommodations at a similar level, it felt a little lacking. I also wished the amenities felt more upscale. The cuisine was delicate and truly excellent, so if you can address the issues we discussed that day, I would like to visit again. Also, I would prefer sake served by the 1-go measure rather than in small bottles.

    Highly satisfied.

    The staff were all very kind and cheerful, making our stay extremely pleasant. We had a wonderful trip enjoying the snow and the open-air Onsen. The Room, Onsen, and cleaning were all impeccable and very clean. I would love to visit again during the snowy season. On a side note, I was delighted that the showerhead in the private bath of our Room was from ReFa (something I had been considering buying for a while). It worked so well that I immediately purchased one for home use!

    Highly Satisfied

    Despite traveling in bad weather, the high level of service provided, from phone support to hospitality within the facility, as well as meals and bath facilities, was exceptional and brought great joy to my parents. I am deeply grateful. If I may point out one thing, the hallways inside the facility were a bit cold (though it might have been unavoidable due to heavy snowfall on that day).

    Everything was excellent.

    This was my second visit. I was captivated by "Hanaougi" in Gora, which inspired me to stay at "Hanaougi" in Hida as well. It was truly a wonderful accommodation. This place encapsulates the essence of Hida's culture. The staff, whom I believe can be referred to as Nakai-san, provided heartfelt hospitality that was incredibly soothing. Every staff member exuded the spirit of omotenashi (hospitality). The cuisine was also exceptionally delicious. I would love to visit this accommodation again. Thank you for a truly relaxing experience!

    It was my first visi...

    It was my first visit. The Ryokan was quite large, but despite its size, the service was attentive, and the meals were delicious. The late-night ramen stand felt just like a real ramen shop and was incredibly tasty, leaving me very satisfied. I stayed in the "Takumi" Room. The room was spacious, and the open-air bath had a silkier water quality compared to the public bath. It was very relaxing and enjoyable.

    They addressed our concerns.

    The next day, I planned to go to Kanazawa, but after consulting AI, I was advised against it due to bad weather. When I consulted the front desk, they kindly suggested several plans based on local information, which was very helpful. Thanks to their advice, I safely made it through the snowstorm and arrived at my destination. Thank you very much. Although I was too anxious at night to eat much, the meal was excellent in both quality and quantity. The private open-air bath with Onsen was incredibly relaxing. I'd love to visit this warm Ryokan again during the cold winter season!

    Very satisfied, would like to stay again.

    Having previously stayed at "Hanaougi Bettei Iiyama," I had high expectations, but this Onsen Ryokan exceeded them. The onsen water was silky smooth with excellent temperature control, the food was exceptionally delicious, the facility was impeccably clean, and the service was outstanding. I would love to stay here again.

    A Japanese Ryokan with a warm wooden ambiance

    The Room, service, and meals were very satisfying. However, the outdoor bath was lukewarm and cold, which was disappointing. The Hida beef and white rice were very delicious.

    A Long-Awaited Visit to Hida

    It was my first time at this accommodation, and the hot spring quality was excellent. The temperature of the open-air bath in the room was a bit low, which was a little disappointing, but I felt that I could bring my grandchildren to this accommodation. I will use it again.

    Arrived in Takayama and explored the old town. Finished early, so called to switch to an earlier Shuttle Service. The open-air bath and indoor bath on the first day were on the hotter side. The next morning, with a gender-swapped arrangement, the baths were slightly cooler. The dinner was amazing; everything was delicious, especially enjoying Hida beef to the fullest. On the next day, as we had an early bus for Shin-Hotaka Ropeway, breakfast was arranged 30 minutes earlier at 7:00 AM. Overall, the atmosphere was great, and the staff provided excellent service. It was a wonderful Ryokan experience—thank you very much!

    A Japanese Ryokan that we highly recommend for international guests.

    We highly recommend this accommodation to those who want to experience the unique charm of a Japanese Ryokan, as we could feel its traditional essence throughout our stay. We personally loved everything, from the room itself to the atmosphere of the hallways, the tatami flooring in the facility, the serene dining area, and even small touches like tea and sweets in the room along with excellent service. If we may suggest one improvement, having a free coffee maker available at all times in the beautiful lobby could create an even more enjoyable public space atmosphere.

    Looking forward to visiting again!

    This was my second visit. The staff's warm hospitality, the comfortable room, and the excellent Onsen—everything was truly satisfying. However, this time I noticed something concerning: As soon as I stepped into the Ryokan, there was a noticeable "musty smell." I tried to locate its source but couldn't figure it out; it was particularly noticeable around the front desk area. Additionally, the provided yukata in the room had a lingering odor as well—perhaps from being stored for too long? It bothered me enough that I changed into my own loungewear that I had brought with me. This wasn't an issue during my previous visit, so perhaps it was just an isolated incident this time. I look forward to visiting again and hope these concerns will be addressed by then!

    Hida Takayama's charming Hida-tei Hanaougi. In conclusion, I would like to visit again... but here are some points of concern: ① It is good that the name is confirmed upon arrival by car, but if this information were shared within the accommodation, there would be no need to confirm it again at the shoe removal area. Calling customers by their names feels more welcoming than simply being greeted formally. ② While I appreciate assistance with carrying my suitcase, it was dropped in front of me without any acknowledgment, which was disappointing. ③ If "Hida Koshihikari" rice is a point of pride, perhaps more effort could be made in its preparation so that freshly cooked rice can at least be served for in-room dining. Instead of asking about refills during service (though the staff were very polite and attentive), offering individual pot-cooked servings might enhance the experience. ④ From a diner's perspective, there were not enough small plates provided during meals. ⑤ Including socks with the indoor wear was thoughtful; however, I got a splinter while walking in them. Although this may have been an isolated incident, it wasn’t addressed even at checkout—such small details add up and feel unfortunate and wasteful considering how close to perfect everything else was. I hope these suggestions help make this accommodation even more appealing for future visits! Thank you for your understanding and consideration!

    The hot spring quality here is exceptional!

    I am a repeat guest! The quality of the private open-air bath is amazing—silky smooth while soaking, yet refreshing after stepping out. Absolutely perfect! I enjoyed it so much that having multiple soft bath towels would make the experience even better. Additionally, the attentive service from Ms. ◯mura was exceptional and made my stay truly satisfying. I will definitely visit again in a different season!

    The food was disappointing, but overall it was a good accommodation.

    Upon arrival, two staff members greeted us warmly with a deep bow, saying, "Welcome." While this traditional gesture felt somewhat outdated and made me slightly uncomfortable, the service overall was excellent. The welcome drink included beer, and several drinks in the refrigerator were complimentary. When being shown to our room, I noticed for the first time that the entire accommodation had tatami flooring throughout. There was no need to remove footwear when entering or exiting rooms or even at the large communal bath area. Although I initially felt hesitant about walking barefoot in the hallways after bathing, my concerns were quickly alleviated by how impeccably clean everything was—there wasn’t even a single strand of hair on the floor. Walking barefoot to the dining area turned out to be quite enjoyable. The room itself had one issue: part of a door's fitting seemed faulty and should ideally be fixed promptly. Additionally, we requested a change in breakfast time late at night due to personal circumstances. The staff responded sincerely and accommodated our request without hesitation—this level of service is truly appreciated. As for the open-air bath, while it’s understandable given its location that there wasn’t much of a view, it would have been nice if there were an outdoor space for cooling off after using the sauna. Now onto dinner—the main issue during our stay. The menu listed "Saikyo-yaki" (grilled fish marinated in sweet miso), but when served we were informed it had been replaced with "salt-grilled ayu" (sweetfish). This substitution should have been explained as soon as we sat down since we were expecting Saikyo-yaki based on what was written on the menu. Unfortunately, this salt-grilled ayu was poorly prepared—it wasn’t fully cooked and arrived cold. As someone who loves salt-grilled ayu and usually eats it whole from head to tail, I found this dish impossible to enjoy due to its bitterness from undercooked innards combined with its cold temperature. It left me wondering if this dish had been hastily prepared as an emergency replacement rather than planned properly. Even farmed ayu can taste delicious when cooked thoroughly; however, this experience fell far below expectations—a truly disappointing aspect of an otherwise pleasant stay at this accommodation.

    Delicious meals and a satisfying Onsen experience.

    I stayed at the accommodation as a reward after climbing Mount Norikura. The building has a distinctive appearance that stands out even when passing by, and upon entering, there was a spacious and luxurious atmosphere. The room was clean, and I particularly liked the chairs and futon. However, I felt that one of the sinks repelled water too easily, making it slightly inconvenient to use. Meals were served in a private room where I could relax, featuring a course with Hida beef along with luxurious ingredients like matsutake mushrooms and abalone—an absolutely satisfying experience.

    Relaxing Accommodation

    In June, my father really enjoyed his stay and expressed a desire to visit again soon, so we planned this trip. Once again, the hospitality was wonderful just like last time. When we mentioned to the front desk that the air conditioning wasn't working well, they promptly arranged another room for us, allowing us to have a comfortable stay. The meals were as delicious as they were in June. The onsen was silky and left our skin feeling smooth and refreshed. It was truly a relaxing experience once more. We look forward to returning again.     I stayed at the accommodation for my wife's birthday. The staff member who assisted us was very attentive, allowing us to have a wonderful time. The bath had a silky texture that we really enjoyed. The room and meals were also excellent. During the meal, the ryokan kindly gave my wife a birthday gift, for which we are very grateful. Thank you very much. This is a ryokan I would love to visit again.

    Traveling with a Baby

    Upon arrival, our luggage was delivered to the Room. Before check-in, we were greeted and had a chance to discuss various details. My son was thrilled watching the large koi fish in the pond. They were much bigger and more vibrant than the ones we used to have at home, making us feel like we were truly on vacation. The bathwater temperature was very comfortable, and my son enjoyed bathing twice. We also used the private Room bath, and my wife was delighted with an included aromatherapy massage. Although dinner was slightly disappointing, having a private dining room was convenient for us.

    The waterwheel at the entrance and the many koi swimming created a wonderful atmosphere. I visited nostalgically as it is near Gifu Prefectural Hida High School, my alma mater. The Onsen in Takayama uses the same source I used to visit. Due to a reunion, I stayed at Hanaougi and was very satisfied with both the bath and the room. The silky smooth hot spring water felt amazing.

    We stayed at "Hidatei Hanaougi" for the first time during our summer vacation as a family of four, and it turned out to be the best choice we could have made. The seamless connection between the tatami area and wooden flooring felt refreshing, especially for someone used to hotels. Our entire family feels strongly about returning here someday soon; hearing our children say they want another stay at Hanaougi is especially heartwarming as parents! This is truly an extraordinary accommodation we wholeheartedly recommend for families cherishing meaningful trips together.
