    Outstanding hospitality

    First, you’re welcomed with a welcome drink upon arrival. The staff member in charge assisted us from start to finish, and their attentive service made our stay very comfortable. The futon mattress seemed designed to distribute body pressure—neither too firm nor too soft—so we slept soundly. We were very satisfied with this Accommodation and would love to stay again.

    It was a wonderful Ryokan that I would definitely love to visit again.

    I’m truly glad I stayed at Hanaougi. Everyone at the Ryokan, especially our attendant, was wonderful—kind, attentive, and courteous—so we were able to relax and enjoy a very comfortable stay. The food was absolutely delicious, and I also appreciated the careful explanation of each dish. It was memorable to see local Hida/Takayama ingredients and regional cuisine incorporated into the meals, making it a wonderful travel experience. The guest room was spotless and thoughtfully maintained down to the smallest details, with excellent amenities. The open-air bath was outstanding as well, allowing us to spend a slow and luxurious time. I was completely satisfied with everything—hospitality, cuisine, room, and Onsen. You can really feel how much care is put into this Ryokan; it’s a place that made me think, “I definitely want to come back.” Thank you very much.

    I stayed in a first-...

    I stayed in a first-floor Room, but at night, until nearly 3 a.m., there were repeated thumping noises from the ceiling, and it was too noisy to sleep. I’m sure the kitchen was directly above my Room. The staff were all very pleasant, so I couldn’t bring myself to mention it.

    A Welcoming Accommodation

    It was a truly wonderful Accommodation from the moment we arrived. The lobby is spacious and exudes a luxurious atmosphere. The Room was very clean and well maintained, and there was nothing unpleasant at all. The Onsen was excellent as well. The attendant who looked after us was courteous and wonderful. This has become an Accommodation we would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Although I made a last-minute Reservation three days in advance, I was grateful to receive a gift for Diamond members. The meals were delicious, and the staff were kind, so I had a very pleasant stay.

    A comfortable Accommodation where you can relax at your leisure

    Thank you for taking such great care of us the other day. Once again, it was a wonderful Accommodation. We were completely satisfied with the Room, the meals, and the baths. The large public bath was not crowded, and we were able to relax comfortably in the in-room bath as well. To A, who took care of our dining service—thank you for a delicious time. On our way home, we stopped by the shop recommended by your male staff member from Nagaoka who kindly saw us off. We ended up buying a lot while getting excited about the great selection and freshness. Thank you for the helpful tip. This weekend, we have made Reservations for two Rooms at “Iiyama,” and four of us—including a couple friends—will be staying with you. We love both Accommodations.

    I’d love to introduce it to my kids…

    My favorite Ryokan for years! The kids got together during Obon, and we all had a great time… The in-room bath and the large public Onsen were amazing! We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast together in a private dining room; every dish was delicious, and we were completely satisfied! We’ll be back—I'm a repeat guest!

    First stay in Takayama, Gifu

    I’ve stayed at Ryokan of the same grade in various areas, and this was easily one of my top three—thank you very much. The Room felt a bit small for four people, so I regret not upgrading. The Room was clean, and we were very satisfied with the open-air bath that left our skin smooth and silky, as well as the carefully prepared meals. Above all, the service was outstanding. When my child vomited on the futon while sleeping, the staff handled it without any sign of displeasure and prioritized checking on my child’s condition first. I’m truly grateful. I would like to stay again.

    This was my first time using it.

    The staff’s hospitality, the pleasant and spotless atmosphere of the Facility, and the silky Onsen water that left my skin feeling moisturized were all wonderful. The Hida beef steak and every dish were delicious. I would love to stay at Hanaogi again when I have a chance to visit the area. I was completely satisfied in every way.

    We stayed here to celebrate my wife’s birthday.

    My wife’s birthday is this month, and she wanted to visit an Onsen. While we were looking for the right place, I remembered this Accommodation where we stayed for my 60th birthday celebration. The attendant at that time was wonderful, and it became a memorable stay—so we made a Reservation right away. This time as well, both the Room attendant and dining staff provided excellent service. Including the male staff who assisted us at arrival and departure, everyone in the Hanaogi Group is clearly well trained, and their guest-first attitude really comes through. The Room was spotless, and the in-room bath was a wooden tub rather than a unit bath; it wasn’t an Onsen bath, but it was very relaxing. The public bath had an indoor bath, an open-air bath, and a reclining bath—all with a great atmosphere and comfortable water temperature that allowed for long soaks. It felt very well managed by the bathing staff. Despite having a fair number of Rooms, I used the public bath four times and only encountered other guests once—my wife said the same thing. Both dinner and breakfast reflected the chef’s skill and offered seasonal flavors. Dinner was simply delicious, but the hōba miso at breakfast was outstanding—so good I wanted to buy some as a souvenir to take home. I have allergies as well as ingredients I absolutely cannot eat, and I truly appreciated how thoughtfully you accommodated substitutions. Even though you welcome tour groups and international guests, the property remained very quiet throughout our stay. The dining area consisted of private rooms with just the right amount of space, making our time there very comfortable. The only busy moments were during check-in and check-out. We like to stay at many different Ryokan, but this was our second visit to Hidatei (and we have also stayed once at Iiyama). We will definitely return again—and after experiencing what makes the Hanaogi Group special firsthand, we’d also like to stay in Hakone Gora someday. Gora is in a higher price range than this one, so we’ll work hard for it (laugh).

    I stayed here with my daughter on a two-person trip. It was an excellent Ryokan—everything we could have wanted was provided, and it was truly perfect. They even offered beer as a welcome drink, which felt amazing after a long drive. The Room was clean and relaxing, the hot spring water quality was great, the meals were delicious, and the amenities were excellent. We even enjoyed Takayama ramen at night, and had a wonderful time throughout our stay.

    I was satisfied.

    The open-air bath in the Room was wonderfully relaxing. The staff were pleasant and provided excellent service. I also appreciated that they carried our heavy suitcases from the parking lot into the building, so we didn’t have to set them on the ground and drag them along. Even though we left earlier than the time we had told our assigned staff member, they still came promptly to the parking lot to see us off.\nI wasn’t a fan of how enclosed the private dining Room felt, and I found the Hida beef a bit fatty, but otherwise everything was very satisfying.

    It felt like a calm,...

    It felt like a calm, long-established Ryokan, and we had no complaints about the service or hospitality. The meal was generally good, but the Hida beef didn’t have as much flavor or tenderness as we expected, so we were slightly disappointed. If possible, we would appreciate it if the large public bath hours and sauna hours could be aligned. The open-air bath in the room was great. Thank you very much.

    A Pleasant Accommodation

    It was excellent. The staff were very courteous both during the pre-arrival phone call and after we arrived at the Accommodation, and we had a very comfortable stay. The Room was very clean, and every meal was delicious. The Onsen water had a distinctive quality, leaving the skin feeling pleasantly silky-smooth. Overall, we were extremely satisfied. This is one of the Accommodations we would like to visit again.

    Natural Onsen

    I used the private open-air bath. The Onsen water quality was excellent. My skin felt silky smooth! It was gentle on my body, so I could bathe multiple times without feeling unwell.

    The silky hot spring bath was amazing.

    This was my second stay, and I was very satisfied as the Room this time had an impressive open-air bath, allowing me to enjoy the Onsen many times. The meals also reflected the season in both the tableware and ingredients, and I enjoyed each dish. In addition, the young attendant who took care of us was cheerful and polite, which left a very positive impression; however, it was a little disappointing that the front desk staff seemed somewhat unfriendly. I think a bit more smiling and warmth would have made the stay even more pleasant. Even so, overall I was very satisfied and would like to stay again if I have the opportunity.

    The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

    The staff were exceptionally pleasant. I really enjoyed the perfectly balanced conversation with the staff member in charge—neither too long nor too short. The cheerful greetings and smiles from other staff members as we passed each other were truly heartwarming. It made me want to see how the proprietress, who is clearly loved by the staff, trains and guides her team.

    This Ryokan is highly recommended.

    This was one of the top one or two Onsen I’ve ever visited—so silky that it made my skin feel noticeably smoother. All the staff were very pleasant as well. If I had to point out something negative, it would be that the coffee in the Room was instant. I’d love to visit again if I have the chance.

    It was a great Onsen accommodation.

    We stayed at Hanaougi to celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Just like everyone’s Reviews said, the hot water was amazing. We soaked in the Onsen bath in our Room many times. The water was so silky-smooth and gentle that we wished we could take it home—we absolutely loved it. The food was also very delicious. And the attendant who looked after us was lovely, and her service was excellent. After we returned from our trip, when I saw my father again for the first time in a while, he said, “That Onsen water was really wonderful,” and he seemed to love it very much. Of course, I loved it too. It has become an Accommodation we definitely want to stay at again.

    Always the best Onsen—so relaxing.

    Thank you for taking care of us on my wife’s birthday. The Onsen water is wonderfully silky and truly relaxing. The staff member in charge served us with great dedication, making it a very memorable night in Takayama. We would love to visit again if we have the chance.

    Used for a trip to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.

    This was our first stay here. What we liked most was the quality of the Onsen water. Both the changing room and bathing area were very clean, making it a truly pleasant experience. The meals featured plenty of Hida ingredients, and for us as an older couple, both the taste and portion sizes were just right—we enjoyed everything. The wait between dishes felt a little long at times, but we also felt it may have been thoughtful pacing so we could relax and enjoy our conversation while dining. Our assigned staff member was about the same age as our grandchild and wore a “new staff” badge, but their service was very polite and earnest, which left a great impression. We also received a commemorative gift for our golden wedding anniversary, which made it a wonderful memory.

    It was comfortable.

    Even though it was Golden Week and I expected it to be crowded, check-in was smooth, and the spacious lobby felt relaxing. I stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and the open-air bath in the Room was also an Onsen. The silky water warmed me to the core and left my skin feeling moisturized. Since there was an Onsen in the Room, I soaked again and again. There was also a space to unwind next to the private open-air bath. The hair dryer was Dyson. The amenities were standard. The only disappointment was the food, but considering the price, I think it’s a good Ryokan overall.

    It was a great accommodation.

    From arrival by car to departure, the staff were attentive and considerate. The Facility was spacious, and the scent of flowers placed here and there along the tatami corridors added a lovely touch. The hot spring bath water was excellent, and we truly enjoyed the delicious meals. Also, although there were many international guests who behaved differently from Japanese guests, the staff handled everything smoothly, so we never felt uncomfortable. As we often encounter travelers from overseas these days, I think this is an important point. Thank you very much.

    It was a wonderful Ryokan.

    From the station pickup to the final send-off, this was a Ryokan that left us completely satisfied. These days, perhaps due to staff shortages, more and more Accommodation seem to be cutting back on services, but not here. Our attendant took care of everything from check-in to serving dinner and breakfast. They also gave us very helpful advice for sightseeing in Takayama. The Onsen was excellent—the water felt as if it gently clung to the skin. The selection of amenities in the bath area was impressive as well. Both the quality and quantity of the meals were truly outstanding. The Room was impeccably cleaned with nothing to complain about. We would love to stay here again.

    The Room and the quality of the Onsen water were excellent.

    The silky, slightly slippery hot spring water was wonderful for this season when dryness is a concern. The food was delicious and the portions were just right—not too much. Also, unusually for a Ryokan, there was a late-night snack spot, and we enjoyed Takayama ramen—it was very tasty. The staff member in charge was also excellent.

    This was my first time back in Hida-Takayama in a while, and I was able to relax and enjoy warm interactions with the local people, which left me feeling truly refreshed. I was also able to buy what I came for, so it turned out to be a very satisfying trip.

    I saw Hida-tei Hanaougi featured on TV and knew I wanted to visit. When my wish finally came true, the hospitality, cuisine, and Onsen were even better than they looked on TV—I was completely satisfied. I’d love to stay again.

    Although there didn’t seem to be many staff members, the service was very attentive, and we had a wonderful time. The entire building has tatami flooring, so it was comfortable to walk around barefoot. Thank you very much.
