    Delicious meals and luxurious baths

    It was my first visit to Shuzenji. With many spots to explore and its compact layout, it was easy to walk around and enjoy the calm and relaxing atmosphere. The accommodation greeted us with a beautiful garden view. The long bathing hours allowed us to unwind from our travels in the Onsen. Above all, the meals were exquisite! Beautifully presented, abundant in variety, and meticulously prepared dishes left us completely satisfied. This is an accommodation I highly recommend staying at!

    Enjoy exploring the hot springs.

    In addition to the large public bath and open-air baths, there are many private family baths available for free, making it exciting to try them all. The meals were delicious, with the option to choose the main dish. This was my second visit, and I would love to come again. Thank you to everyone at the accommodation!

    This was my first stay at the accommodation. I stayed with my mother, and since I was a bit concerned about the public bath, we chose a room with an open-air bath. Being able to bathe at any time we liked, we enjoyed it multiple times without worry. Both dinner and breakfast were extremely delicious. The all-you-can-drink option, including alcohol outside of the dining area, was incredibly cost-effective! Even though I believe it was fully booked, we hardly encountered other guests and were able to relax comfortably. Also, my mother loved the samue (traditional Japanese workwear), so I gifted her one. Since there are maisonette rooms available, I'd like to try staying in one next time!

    Highly Satisfied

    Room, bath, and meals were excellent. The accommodation fee was also reasonable. Every year, four of us from university travel together, and this time we booked through IKYU—it was a perfect choice. All four of us were very satisfied, and we've decided on Kanzanji Onsen for next year. Thank you very much!

    Perfect blend of tradition, modernity, and tranquility.

    We had a relaxing stay as a couple at the historic Shuzenji Onsen. We stayed on the first floor of "Kaze no Kataribe," and despite it being fully booked, it was so quiet that it felt like no one else was there. The blend of preserving the historic building while incorporating new structures like "Kaze no Kataribe" allowed us to truly unwind. For meals, we chose different dishes to share, and both the stew and fish fritters were incredibly delicious. Needless to say, all other dishes were excellent in quality, quantity, and service—completely satisfying. Breakfast was Japanese-style, and we couldn't get enough of the rice. We visited all seven unique Onsen baths available for use; each had its own charm, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. My wife also expressed her desire to visit again!

    This was my fourth visit to a Kyoritsu Resort Hotel. Since my first visit, I have been drawn to the excellent service, variety and quality of the food, as well as the comfort of the Room and baths. Whenever I stay for three nights, I make sure one night is at a Kyoritsu Resort Hotel because it never disappoints. Once again, I was satisfied with the staff's hospitality, meals, private baths, and in-room bath. However, I found the Room smaller compared to other hotels which felt a bit cramped. Additionally, it was disappointing that the open-air bath in the large public bath had its windows closed and lacked a sense of openness.

    I stayed at "Mizu no Kataribe" accommodation. This accommodation area was newly built about four years ago, and it still feels very new. I was surprised by how fresh everything felt, especially the bathtub. The wooden-scented bathtub allowed me to relax while soaking in the onsen. The onsen water conveniently fills the tub automatically with just one button press. The water is slightly hot. There is a wooden door window on the side of the bathtub, and when opened, you can see a river flowing nearby and even a small waterfall upstream—a truly picturesque view. The sound of the stream is quite loud. If you stand up to open the window door, there’s a parking lot across the river that might make you feel conscious of being seen; however, there’s quite some distance between them. When opening it while soaking in the tub, there’s no concern about being seen from outside as long as you close it before getting out of the tub. The size of the bathtub exceeded my expectations—it’s large enough for two adults to sit side by side comfortably. The shower in the washing area has adequate water pressure and features a high-quality showerhead that makes it easy to use. I requested for a DVD player to be set up with my room's TV. Since they couldn’t attach it to their large TV setup, they brought in an additional smaller TV along with a DVD player—an effort I deeply appreciate despite its inconvenience for them! Although this setup wasn’t very user-friendly or visually ideal due to screen size limitations, I was glad I could watch DVDs like Monteverdi's "Orfeo" and Rameau's "Zoroastre." Thank you so much! There were no inconveniences inside my room—it was surprisingly new and comfortable overall! Upon entering my room, I found indoor wear neatly prepared on top of my bed. To reach your room here requires crossing suspension bridges followed by walking some distance further into designated areas within their premises using elevators where necessary during transitions between levels/floors indoors too if needed depending upon layout specifics unique per guestroom location itself perhaps otherwise generally speaking overall accessibility remains manageable albeit potentially intimidating initially especially anyone afraid heights traversing such pathways themselves firsthand experience-wise accordingly likewise noted beforehand already mentioned earlier above contextually relevant details included therein previously stated observations shared herein now reiterated again briefly summarized concisely restated succinctly clarified explicitly emphasized     The private baths ea...

    The private baths each have their own charm, and even in the large public bath, you hardly encounter anyone. The meals are delicious, and outside of the Room, there are lovely spaces where you can enjoy drinks and relax, allowing you to spend a leisurely time. It exceeded expectations.

    Maybe it was better in the past?

    Rather than feeling like a traditional Ryokan, it felt more like a Dormy Inn. I wish they would pay more attention to the details and make better use of the building. The worst part was the food. Except for the Kikuya special beef stew and the seaweed at breakfast, everything was below standard. There were too many dishes for dinner in the first place. I wish they would reduce the number and improve the quality of the ingredients. The sashimi and grilled Ise lobster were particularly terrible. There's no need for bad Ise lobster. It was questionable to follow with golden eye snapper and flounder. The rice at the end was also bad, so plain white rice would have been better.

    I was able to spend a relaxing time.

    The staff's response was excellent, and I was able to spend my time comfortably. The handwritten local sightseeing guide by the employees was very helpful. The Room's onsen bath was the best! I will be in your care again.

    Ryokan Time Room

    Relaxing on the balcony with a garden view and the spacious room was pleasant. After returning from the Onsen, I was able to spend my time comfortably. There were many places to relax, making the time spent inside the Ryokan meaningful.

    I liked it!

    It was wonderful, with a historical charm remaining from when Soseki Natsume recuperated here and it served as a venue for the Shogi Meijin Tournament. There seem to be many young employees working hard, but I felt that the male staff could learn to provide a more natural service (a bit stiff in atmosphere). I was delighted to use the corner where even soft drinks and beer were free. I would like to stay again during the cherry blossom season.

    The staff maintained an appropriate distance, allowing us to relax. This time, I had a companion visiting for the first time, and they seemed impressed by the history of the building. The abundance of Onsen also contributed to an enjoyable stay. Additionally, the meals were very delicious, with the seafood being particularly well-received by my companion.

    Personally, it exceeded my expectations.

    This time, we used three separate rooms for six people. Previously, we used a different Kyoritsu Resort property, but this one had larger rooms and open-air baths, which we enjoyed. The meals were also satisfactory for my elderly mother, with just the right amount and no hard items. The surrounding area has many attractions, and I think you can enjoy walking around. One concern was that about 30% of the guests were from overseas, and they brought beer into the private bath. Regarding the meals, with six people, there were opinions like "the chestnut rice didn't have much chestnut flavor" or "the miso soup was too salty," but it was all within an acceptable range. However, at check-in, we couldn't find the tea set in the room, and at check-out, we found it in a wooden box with items placed on top. It would have been nice to have an explanation at the beginning. It's about a two-hour drive one way, and we received discount tickets, so we would definitely like to use it again.

    Breakfast

    Thank you for your hospitality, Kikuya-san. The Room was new and well-cleaned, allowing us to stay comfortably. The dinner had a wide variety of dishes and was very delicious. After dinner, we were asked if we preferred Japanese or Western breakfast for the next day, but since we didn't know what the menu was like and had been having fish, we requested Western. That was the right choice, as the soup, gratin, and various assortments were very satisfying. I'm sure the Japanese breakfast is also wonderful, but it would have been helpful to see some general image photos when asked for our preference. I assume the menu changes daily, but having such photos might prevent any regrets later. Also, when we couldn't find the Room key and spoke to the front desk, we were surprised to hear that the loss fee would be 50,000 yen, equivalent to one night's stay in the Room! We eventually found it, but please be careful not to lose it.
