    I want to visit every year regularly.

    I have stayed at the main building of Taishoya Ryokan several times, but this was my first time at Shiibasanso. Traveling with four people, we wanted to enjoy both the Onsen and gourmet food, so we chose a room with an open-air bath. The dinner portion was just right, and after eating, we relaxed in the open-air bath. The cleaning staff regularly tidied up hair in the bath area, making it pleasant after bathing. Dinner was delicious, but the small dishes at the breakfast buffet were all carefully prepared and tasty—I ended up eating too much! One of my friends even had rice with a raw egg topping. It’s a Ryokan that made us think we'd like to make it an annual tradition to stay here together. The staff's attentiveness was also excellent.

    Enjoyed the Onsen.

    Enjoyed the Onsen. Appreciated the pick-up and drop-off service. Especially grateful for the 10:30 pick-up from another accommodation in Ureshino after check-out, being taken to Taishoya, where I relaxed in the large bath until 12:00, and then being driven back to Shiibasanso. At Shiibasanso, as there was time before check-in, I soaked in Shiiba no Yu until around 1:00 PM. Check-in was earlier than expected as my room was ready by 1:00 PM. Thanks to the early check-in, I could enjoy Yama no Yu at Shiibasanso leisurely and privately. The room offered a view of a waterfall; opening the window allowed me to hear its soothing sound—a wonderful sight and ambiance. Dinner met expectations. Breakfast was slightly less impressive due to it being a buffet style. However, the melt-in-your-mouth yudofu (tofu hot pot) was exceptional—better than what I had at my previous accommodation's breakfast. The hinoki bath in my room was also delightful. The only downside was the narrow toilet space. Although Yuyado Seiryu has been closed for one year and its onsen wasn't available this time (expected closure until March), having access to five different onsens is an excellent system overall.

    I was able to relax very much.

    The semi-detached style of the room allowed for a relaxing stay with minimal interaction with other guests. It would have been even better if the toilet and bathroom in the room were separate. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of dishes, predominantly Japanese but also Western options, and everything was delicious! The tofu was exceptional. The service was courteous, making for a pleasant experience! Thank you very much!

    Staying for my mother's 90th birthday celebration

    I was glad to stay. When we were shown to the room, I mentioned that this trip was to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday, and during dinner, we received a celebration for her 90th birthday. My mother was very touched. Everyone at the property greeted us with smiles and was very kind. The onsen was wonderful, and my mother said her legs felt much better. One disappointment was that walking from the property to the open-air bath Shiiba no Yu (Shiiba no Yu) was tough for my 90-year-old mother.

    The large mountain stream "Shiiba no Yu" is wonderful.

    Made a reservation months in advance. I realized that it was an excellent property beyond its reputation. Dinner was authentic Japanese cuisine, with beautiful tableware and presentation, and the taste was delicious. The famous Shiiba no Yu was clean and large, which was surprising. We also took a bus to use the Taishoya bath. It was an interesting large bath. The staff were cheerful and kind. However, as I always think at onsen ryokan, it would be nice to have two yukatas each. In a separate room along the mountain stream, we enjoyed a great time watching the autumn-colored trees and the sparkling flow of the waterfall through the large windows, and listening to the sounds. We will definitely be in your care again.

    Enjoyed a quiet time.

    Reaching the destination was a bit challenging. However, the stay amidst nature provided a precious time, leaving me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated both physically and mentally. The staff's hospitality was pleasant, and I thoroughly enjoyed the open-air bath, as well as the well-equipped bathtub in the guest room. I would like to visit again in a different season.

    I had been intereste...

    I had been interested in this property for a while due to its good review ratings. It was almost fully booked even on weekdays, but I found a cancellation by chance and immediately changed my stays. It was a Japanese-Western style room on the second floor. The room was spacious, and the beds were comfortably arranged, but the Western-style room had an old feel and smell, possibly due to the carpet. The bathroom floor and chairs were newly renovated, so I could use them comfortably. The large public bath was also very nice, and I think the satisfaction level would increase if the room maintenance was improved a bit more. For dinner, I chose the Saga beef teppanyaki. I think it was a loin, but for us, the amount of meat and fat was too much. It would have been nice if we could have chosen fillet meat. Breakfast was served on small plates, so even if you're not a fan of buffets, you could take your time without it being crowded, and it was delicious. I think it would have been more relaxing if the lounge had delicious tea or coffee instead of self-service soft drink machines. I had high expectations after reading the reviews, so I ended up being a bit critical, but the restaurant staff provided very pleasant service. Thank you for taking care of us.

    A hospitable inn

    As the reputation suggests, the hospitality, cuisine, hot springs, facilities, and everything else were absolutely satisfying. With four old friends, we had the best little reunion. I definitely want to visit again!
