    I was very satisfied.

    I was very satisfied with the Room, meals, and service. Especially the Room, including the private open-air bath, was truly wonderful. The kaiseki cuisine with a touch of creativity was also quite delicious and satisfying. However, the large public bath was a bit disappointing in terms of size and other aspects. I was particularly surprised that there were no combs in the changing area; I hope you can provide at least combs in the future. Also, while the Room itself was excellent, being on the third floor without an elevator was a bit tough for someone older like me. It’s unfortunate because I really loved the Room—maybe next time I'll choose a second-floor Room? In any case, I’d love to visit again during another season (perhaps during ayu season).     It was my first time...

    It was my first time visiting Gero Onsen, and staying at Miyako was a wonderful experience. The accommodation has a calm and elegant atmosphere, and as it is an adults-only facility, it was very quiet. The meals were particularly outstanding, with dishes like eel sushi rolls and whole fish preparations being incredibly delicious. The Hida beef sukiyaki was so amazing that I ended up buying Hida beef as a souvenir the next day. The onsen water temperature felt slightly hot—perhaps this is characteristic of Gero Onsen? I look forward to visiting Gero Onsen again to stay at Miyako. Thank you for your hospitality!

    A Wonderful Time

    I was impressed by the calm atmosphere, high-quality service, dishes made with carefully selected ingredients, and the staff's thoughtful hospitality. The Onsen was absolutely wonderful. I was initially surprised and a bit hesitant about the large number of foreign tourists during my Takayama sightseeing trip and felt slightly uneasy about encountering foreign guests at the accommodation as well, but I felt reassured. It was an even more wonderful accommodation than I had imagined. I want to visit again next year. Thank you for creating such a lovely experience!

    Relaxing Accommodation

    This was my first stay, and I felt the attention to detail throughout, making it a relaxing two days. My husband is a big fan of alcohol, and in addition to enjoying drinks at the lounge, the delicious dinner paired so well with the drinks that we couldn't finish the final dish of sweetfish rice. We deeply regret this. Next time, we hope to enjoy everything until the very last bite as a form of "revenge." Thank you for your hospitality.

    Room with an open-air bath and twin beds

    The sound of the open-air bath water flowing was noisy all night. There was no changing area, so moving from the Room required being undressed. The twin beds had no gap, making it difficult to get off. The Hida beef in the kaiseki meal was shabu-shabu instead of grilled as shown in the photo, so we ordered an additional dish. The service was excellent.

    It was a renovated Room with an open-air bath, and the open-air bath in the Room was the largest I have ever experienced in any Hotel or Ryokan, which was surprising. The meals were also very elaborate and all delicious. I would love to visit again.

    The meals were a bit disappointing. Warm dishes should be served on warm plates, and cold dishes on cold plates. The presentation, seasoning, vibrancy of the dishes, and choice of tableware could be improved. I will consider using your service again if the reviews improve. Thank you!

    It was a very relaxing and comfortable accommodation.

    The garden and decorations were beautiful, and I enjoyed taking my time to admire them. The meals were creative, visually appealing, delicious, and perfectly portioned—truly satisfying. The staff were kind and attentive, which made me very happy. One small disappointment was that the changing area in the bathhouse was occasionally dirty; if this could be checked more thoroughly, it would be perfect. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Relax and celebrate your wedding anniversary.

    The staff were very polite and attentive. In particular, the Nakai-san provided just the right amount of conversation and gave detailed explanations about the meals, allowing us to enjoy them thoroughly. The location is close to Gassho Village and the morning market, and within walking distance to the center of Gero Onsen town for a leisurely stroll. Overall, we were extremely satisfied.

    The meals were absolutely delicious.

    The reception area and lounge of the accommodation were clean and had a very pleasant atmosphere. However, the room seemed aged, with an open space under the shelf containing yukata, exposing peeling plywood, which was disappointing. The meals featured vegetables from Gero, offering a sense of seasonality and were very delicious. Although there were some disappointing aspects in the room, the meals were excellent, and I would like to visit again.

    The level of relaxation and satisfaction is exceptional.

    After being shown to the Room, we enjoyed a variety of drinks in the lounge before exploring the Facility as usual, which was satisfying. However, there was no sake available, and while the whiskey tasted good, it was limited to just one type from Hida, which was a bit disappointing. As a fan of alcohol, I would have appreciated having around three varieties each of sake, shochu, and whiskey. "Perhaps it's difficult to offer high-alcohol beverages since this is also a bathing Facility—just my thoughts as an enthusiast!" By the way, the coffee from the machine next to the lounge tasted somewhat average. The Room had a relaxing Japanese-style ambiance that I found very appealing. The private bath in our Room and even the reserved bath were satisfying. However, I noticed that some black stones resembling halved charcoal on the bottom of the outdoor section of the large public bath had sharp edges that hurt my feet. The meal served in an à la carte style was delicious and enjoyable despite drinking quite a bit—it might have been slightly wasted due to that! Regarding sleep quality: usually I bring my own mattress due to issues with my neck and back but didn’t this time. The mattress provided felt firm for me; however, using one soft single mat from storage worked well enough. Similarly with pillows—they were too firm and high for me personally—but swapping out their contents with cushions on hand made them comfortable enough after adjustment. Overall satisfaction led us (my wife included) into discussing plans about returning again someday soon! With Rooms/Baths/Food already excelling overall improvements toward minor personal preferences could elevate experiences further ahead!

    Heavy Rain at Gero Onsen

    My first visit to Gero Onsen. Unfortunately, due to heavy rain, I couldn't fully explore the onsen town. I checked in soaking wet, but they kindly dried my shoes for me, which was a great help. The view was beautiful and the atmosphere peaceful. The 24-hour bathing access allowed for a private-like experience depending on the time of day. The meals were not only delicious but also visually delightful. The attendant who took care of us was efficient and had a lovely smile, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. I would love to stay here again!

    Our young staff is working very hard.

    This was my second visit to Gero Onsen, and this accommodation was one I had always dreamed of staying at. We stayed in a room with an open-air bath, so we didn’t use the large public bath or private baths. The in-room bath alone was more than sufficient. The meals were crafted with a strong sense of seasonality, offering dishes that could only be enjoyed here. While there are many young staff members, they all provide exceptionally pleasant service. I believe this is the greatest charm of this accommodation. Although experienced attendants have their own appeal, the genuine and selfless service from the younger staff is truly refreshing to witness. I would love to stay here again.

    Gero Onsen, one of Japan's three famous hot springs, was a first-time experience for us, and the accommodation was truly wonderful. The interior decorations, vibrant garden greenery, and the terrace illuminated at night created a "different world" atmosphere as soon as we entered the ryokan. The standalone room was clean with well-prepared amenities. It featured a garden and an additional space, offering ample room to relax comfortably. The onsen experience was delightful overall. While the private bath had a slight chlorine smell, both the large public bath and in-room bath did not have this issue. The water had a slightly silky texture that felt gentle on the skin—truly worthy of its reputation as one of Japan's top three hot springs. The open-air bath in our room was particularly impressive; it was spacious enough for two people to bathe comfortably, with meticulously arranged stones that provided perfect back support wherever you sat—a truly exceptional bathing experience. However, both private baths and in-room baths lacked openness due to walls and hedges blocking the view (the outdoor bath in the large public area offered more openness with views of a deck and Japanese garden). In terms of service, staff members were attentive and courteous throughout our stay. Additionally, there were generous service times at the bar lounge during evening-to-night hours as well as mornings where guests could enjoy complimentary drinks including alcohol multiple times—perfect for post-bath beers or after-dinner hard liquor! Coffee from drip machines was also available 24/7—a much-appreciated touch. Another standout feature of this accommodation is undoubtedly its cuisine. The head chef has honed their skills at Kyoto’s renowned restaurants; every dish showcased creative menus with beautifully crafted presentations using local ingredients—all absolutely delicious! Both dinner and breakfast portions were perfectly balanced in volume while being incredibly satisfying to taste. Although located slightly away from Gero Onsen’s main town area—and given our tight schedule—we couldn’t fully explore everything Gero Onsen has to offer this time around but would love to revisit again someday!

    A charming hidden accommodation

    I stayed in a detached room this time. It was nestled quietly within a beautiful garden, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. The service was excellent, and the delicate cuisine was incredibly delicious. The room had both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, allowing for a relaxing soak. The large public bath was also wonderful. Decorations of cats, rabbits, and other ornaments were displayed throughout the lobby and hotel, which added charm. I would love to stay here again if I have the chance.

    The service is impressive, but the quality of the meals is questionable.

    The staff's service was polite and well-trained. A positive aspect was the comfortable lounge with a wide variety of free drinks. However, other aspects were below average. The facility is old, lacks an elevator, and requires using stairs for all movement. The public Onsen is small, and there are no bath towels or face towels provided in the bathing area; guests must bring them from their room. If you use the Onsen again in the morning, you have to reuse wet towels as there is no place to dry bath towels in the room except hanging them on chair backs. Additionally, the slippers provided inside the facility are reused by multiple guests. Guests are instructed to attach a room number sticker for identification, but these stickers tend to peel off easily. The biggest drawback was the low quality of meals. Dinner had an overly salty taste with heavy seasoning that lacked any delicate touch of traditional Kaiseki cuisine. The menu was simple; notably, grilled ayu fish—a dish we were looking forward to—was not included and required a separate order. Unfortunately, it was excessively salted as well, masking its seasonal flavor. Lastly, breakfast salad consisted merely of three small pieces (3–4 cm) of lettuce scraps and a few slices of onion on a plate—so minimal it left us astonished. As we had been looking forward to enjoying both Onsen and meals during our stay, it turned out to be an underwhelming experience lacking richness overall.

    Everything was perfect.

    The moment I entered the ryokan, I was captivated by its traditional charm, stylish atmosphere, scenic views, spacious room, and exceptional bath. The staff's attentiveness was outstanding and deeply moving. I have stayed at various hotels (including luxury hotels in Toba), but this Miyako exceeded expectations with its ambiance, cuisine, attentive staff, and the Gero hot spring bath—everything was truly remarkable. I will definitely stay here again.

    Comfortable Accommodation

    We stayed as a family of four and thoroughly enjoyed the Room's open-air bath and the large public bath. For meals, we had a Hida beef course. The main dish, Hida beef teppanyaki, was absolutely satisfying, and the appetizers, seasonal dishes, soup, stone-grilled abalone, and sashimi showcased thoughtful use of seasonal ingredients. The explanations about the dishes were excellent and made our dining experience enjoyable. As a suggestion for improvement, pairing options with local sake or craft gin from Gifu could enhance the dining experience even further.

    10th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

    We stayed here for the first time to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Although it is a bit away from the onsen town, it is within walking distance. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were absolutely satisfying. I ended up having four bowls of rice at breakfast. We stayed in a standard room without a private bath, so we used the public bath. Both at night and in the morning, there were no other guests, so we had it all to ourselves. After bathing, we enjoyed some relaxing time together as a couple in the lounge with complimentary drinks. The staff's hospitality was excellent and made this a truly memorable occasion. During dinner, they surprised my wife with a flower arrangement. When we returned to our room, there was also a bottle of wine from the accommodation as a gift—it was such an emotional gesture (apologies for not finishing it…). This time it was just my husband and me staying here. When I asked one of the staff members about bringing children next time, they mentioned that guests under 12 years old are not allowed. Once our kids are older, we'd love to come back as a family. Thank you very much!

    An Accommodation of Inspiration and Relaxation

    On our first visit to Gero Onsen, it was unfortunately a rainy day. We decided to head straight to the accommodation and checked in earlier than planned. From the garage to the entrance, through the lobby and hallways leading to the room, everything had a soothing atmosphere that we truly enjoyed. We stayed in a detached room called "Hagakure." After passing through an outdoor garden, we entered a beautifully maintained traditional Japanese-style room with impressive wooden beams and exceptional cleanliness. The room also featured an open-air rock onsen bath where we could relax without worrying about time. During dinner, the staff provided detailed explanations about each dish with great care, which showed their dedication to hospitality and left us deeply impressed. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends! The portion sizes of the meals were just right, and every dish was absolutely delicious. The free drinks available at the lounge were also a nice touch. If given another opportunity, I would love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    A Memorable Experience! Celebrating Mother's 77th Birthday Trip

    We had the pleasure of staying at your accommodation for my mother's 77th birthday celebration trip. We rarely had the chance to travel together as mother and child, but this time we were finally able to fulfill my mother's long-held dream of staying at an accommodation with delicious cuisine. I am truly delighted. When we checked in and arrived at our room, we were touched to find a purple celebratory vest prepared for her. My mother was overjoyed as she wore it and took commemorative photos in the beautiful courtyard. After enjoying a delightful dinner, we returned to our room only to be surprised by another thoughtful gesture. We were overwhelmed with surprise and emotion. The kind consideration from Miyako's staff filled us with happiness. My mother, who loves food, enjoyed every dish while repeatedly saying how delicious it was. She expressed her joy by saying, "This is exactly the kind of trip I wanted." The flavors, along with the beauty of the tableware and presentation, conveyed the chef's sense of style and meticulous care—leaving her deeply impressed. The atmosphere of your accommodation, its decor, and even each piece of furniture perfectly matched my mother's taste. On every floor she exclaimed how wonderful everything was! It became a truly satisfying journey for me as well. To everyone at Miyako: thank you so much for taking such great care of us. We are deeply grateful from the bottom of our hearts.

    Hidden Retreat Hot Springs

    It was a quiet and secluded accommodation. The meals were delicious, and I was able to enjoy a luxurious time away from daily life. However, when I arrived at the accommodation, I couldn't find the parking lot (next to the accommodation), so I parked in front of the entrance and went inside to call out, but no one responded, so I had to find it myself. Additionally, for dinner, we were told to come directly to the table at the designated time; however, no staff appeared for a while after we arrived on time, which made us feel uneasy compared to other accommodations. Since it was my first visit, this might have been an exception. Everything else was excellent, so I'm looking forward to staying again next time!
