A luxurious time spent while gazing out over Ise Bay

The location was excellent. From the Room, the lobby, and even the elevator, we could enjoy beautiful views of Ise Bay, which was truly moving. The view from the lounge was also lovely, and I wish it had been available for longer hours. We chose a Japanese-style Room, and both the Room and tatami were clean, so we felt comfortable throughout our stay. We also enjoyed the Onsen, including both the large public bath and the open-air bath. The late-night Ise udon as well as the ice cream and coffee were delicious. The Ryokan staff were kind and made us feel at ease. It was also very convenient for visiting Futami Okitama Shrine, Ise Grand Shrine, and Toba Aquarium. The salmon at breakfast was large, filling, and delicious. Next time, we plan to choose a Plan that includes dinner. We’re very happy to have found an Accommodation we’d love to stay at again after such a long time. Thank you very much.

    Nothing like the photos.

The property was far too different from the photos posted on IKYU. The building felt old overall, and the futon had a damp, musty smell. There were also fairly large insects in the Room and hair left behind, which raised many hygiene concerns. The indoor bath was pitch-dark, and I was scared to use it at night. The provided hair dryer and toilet were extremely outdated, and it is definitely not an Accommodation I would ever want to pay 100,000 yen to stay at. It was disappointing after traveling from far away.

    Staff shortage

Thank you for the birthday cake. Since it was my birthday, I came back to Umi no Cho for the first time in a while. However, the Room we were shown to was hot and the air conditioner did not work. I also felt that the food tasted worse than before. My biggest impression is that staff training is lacking; they may not be experienced yet. I think Umi no Cho used to be better.

    I stayed on a dinner...

I stayed on a dinner-included Plan featuring quality ingredients from Mie, and just as the Review said, the food was delicious and I was very satisfied. The staff’s hospitality, service, and greetings were truly excellent and made my stay very comfortable. I deducted one star because the Room curtains were not blackout curtains, so it became bright around 5:00 a.m. and I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep. Since dinner was late, I planned to sleep in and had made a later Reservation for breakfast as well. Although the summer solstice has passed, I hope you can check this while the days are still long and make improvements.

We stayed here as a family with a 0-year-old baby.

We stayed as a family with a 0-year-old baby. All the staff were extremely courteous and made us feel truly welcome. The Facility for children was also well prepared: there was a microwave and a bed on the first floor, baby items in the bathroom, and similar amenities in the dining area. We were also impressed by the quality and generous portions of the meals at this price. We were surprised by all the complimentary offerings, including free rice at night and in the morning, as well as free café service. We would love to stay again!

Stayed with breakfast after a concert at Mie Prefectural Sun Arena The spacious large public bath was amazing. I was able to relax at ease, and the breakfast was delicious. All the staff were polite, which made my stay very comfortable. I’d love to visit again. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Quiet Hotel

The interior felt spacious and calming. It seemed quite busy on the eve of Golden Week—enough to fill the parking lot—but it was quiet everywhere in the building, and we were able to relax throughout our stay. We stayed in a sea-facing Room on the 4th floor, and with wall-to-wall windows we could take our time enjoying the view. At night, the moon shone brightly on the surface of the sea, and watching a train pass along the coastline below felt like a scene from a fairy tale—it was truly relaxing. Thank you very much. Overall, my impression was an Accommodation where every small detail comes with an extra touch. The garden gazebo had a footbath; there were some simple fitness items in the large public bath; light snacks were offered in the lounge area outside the bath; complimentary coffee and tea were available in the lounge; and even in our Room there were coffee beans and a grinder… In short, thoughtful “nice-to-have” services were sprinkled throughout, and it was fun discovering them one by one while spending time inside. It was a shame that we arrived late and couldn’t enjoy the private beach or explore nearby. We only had breakfast, but it was served in a set-meal tray plus buffet style. It never felt crowded, yet we could choose what we liked—this format was excellent. In addition, my wife commented that people of many different age groups—young guests, families, and older couples—were staying there as well, which made her feel it was an Accommodation where you can feel at ease. One request: it would have been nice if there were different sizes of Room slippers available. They fit me perfectly (26 cm), but they seemed a bit too large for my wife’s smaller feet (though perhaps we should have asked at reception). That said, overall we were very satisfied with our stay. We sincerely thank all of your staff members.

    The room was spaciou...

The room was spacious and well stocked with amenities. There were also flowers on display, which was very soothing. The room had a private open-air bath, but it was a bit cold outside so I didn’t use it. I think a free-flowing hot spring bath is best. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Also, due to an issue with the internet connection, you kindly took care of us and even provided complimentary drinks—thank you, and I’m sorry for the trouble. Although it was only for one night, we were able to relax very much. Thank you very much.

    It was very good.

For our 30th wedding anniversary, we were looking for a trip to Ise Shrine and a room with an open-air bath, and chose Umi no Cho. To celebrate our pearl anniversary, we received a painting as a gift. The message truly touched us and moved us deeply—we were so happy. We have it displayed at our entrance. From the Onsen to the meals—there is too much to write—everything exceeded our expectations. At the end, when I went to the front desk thinking I absolutely had to express my thanks, even the way the change was arranged was beautiful and smart. I was so impressed that I couldn’t even carry on a conversation. Everything was wonderful. We will stay again someday. Thank you very much.

    It was very good.

The staff were very kind, and the stay was comfortable. The Japanese dinner was truly delicious—we were very satisfied! Breakfast was also great, with tasty grilled salmon and a well-stocked buffet. It was a luxury to be able to grind coffee beans in the Room and enjoy fresh coffee. The only minor issues were that the indoor slippers were a bit difficult to walk in, and the shower heads in the large public bath were set a little high. Other than that, everything was excellent. We would like to stay again.

A Pleasant, Welcoming Accommodation with Friendly Service

I stayed here as a base for visiting Ise Shrine. Since we planned to eat out at night, we chose a Plan with breakfast only. Check-in starts at 15:00, but we visited Ise Shrine early in the morning and had already finished sightseeing nearby by the time check-in was available, so we arrived at the Hotel right away. A few groups had already arrived at the roundabout, and the staff were busy welcoming guests. As it was just one night and we didn’t have much luggage, I said I would park first. When I parked near the entrance, a staff member ran over and kindly carried our small amount of luggage for us. Instead of checking in across a front desk counter, the process was done on a sofa in the lobby. It felt like being assisted in an upscale Hotel club lounge. There were no welcome drinks such as coffee or tea, but I actually preferred that—serving and clearing them during busy times can slow things down. The Facility itself isn’t brand-new, but it didn’t feel particularly dated or lacking. The equipment felt more than sufficient. As for air conditioning, since it wasn’t a hot or cold season, I’ll refrain from commenting. The key was an old-style physical key, which felt nostalgic—in a good way. Our Room had a beautiful ocean view, so we enjoyed our stay. The bath area included an open-air bath, an indoor bath, and even a sauna—everything you need without excess. I was surprised that every washing station had a ReFa shower head. Ideally, it would be nice if the shampoo and conditioner were of slightly higher quality… And on smaller points: it was hard to tell where to dispose of amenities like razors; also there was only one set of cotton swabs/ear picks placed in the center of the vanity area, so it could be difficult to reach when someone else was using it. Overall—and this is just my impression—it may not be an environment where they can staff large numbers at all times. Because of that, I felt the team has put real thought into efficiency and comfortable service. Some guests may have complaints here and there, but if I have another chance to stay near Ise again, I would like to stay here again. We only had breakfast once during our stay (the only meal included), but it was very good. It was semi-buffet style; it also seemed designed with food loss reduction in mind, and everything tasted great. Wishing you continued success—I’m rooting for you!

Your First Visit to Ise Shrine

We were blessed with great weather and enjoyed stunning views, a clean Room, and truly delicious, luxurious meals. The staff were also welcoming and attentive, allowing us to spend a relaxing time. In the morning, we took a walk from Awakoji Shrine to the private beach. The air was so fresh that we were deeply moved.

    Wonderful!

As an overseas traveler, this was the best hotel my companion and I have ever stayed at. The ocean view from the room was amazing, and during cherry blossom season we could enjoy a beautiful scene of cherry blossoms framed together with the sea right from our room. Dinner featured premium ingredients and was refined, delicious, and abundant. Overall, it offered excellent value for money, and if I have the chance, I’d love to stay for two nights.

    Breakfast

The breakfast buffet was disappointing and not good value for money. Since it wasn’t cheap, I had hoped for a proper breakfast. Dinner, however, was served in a private room and had a nice atmosphere.\nAlthough we requested an open-air bath, the room only had a bathtub. Once in the tub you couldn’t see the view, and it was inconvenient because you had to move elsewhere to wash your body.

It was a family trip to celebrate.

They kindly accommodated my grandchildren’s food allergies, and the meals were delicious—we were very satisfied. This family trip, our first in a long time to celebrate school admission and a new job, became a truly memorable one. My spouse and I have visited several times, and we are always pleased with the wonderful meals and the Onsen. It’s our favorite Accommodation that makes us want to come back again.

    Thank you for your support.

My spouse and I, in our 50s, stayed for one night with breakfast and dinner included. The seaside-view Room exceeded our expectations—very spacious and perfect for relaxing after a long drive. Dinner was a luxurious meal, and we also appreciated the complimentary bottle of wine. The next morning, we took a walk around the area and felt refreshed, ready to start the day’s journey. Thank you very much.

The meals were a bit disappointing; we usually can’t finish the amount at any Ryokan, but this time it was a portion we could finish normally. The view from the window is excellent. The facilities are very clean, and you can really feel the attention to detail.

    Highly recommended accommodation.

Four of us stayed with friends this time, and all the staff provided excellent service and were very responsive to our requests. These days, with staffing shortages, it’s becoming rare to find such attentive hospitality, but there were always staff members nearby, so we never had to search when we wanted to ask something. Both the breakfast venue and the breakfast itself were outstanding. It had a nostalgic, special feeling—like being taken on a family trip as a child. All four of us were completely satisfied with the food, the service, and the Facility. We’d love to stay again and would recommend it to others as well.

Above all, the warm hospitality of the Hotel staff.

It was amazing. The food was delicious, and we were able to relax in a Room with an ocean view. I’d love to come back again with friends! It was a bit disappointing that we couldn’t see the sunset due to the Hotel’s orientation (though we could see the sunrise).

    Gourmet Accommodation

We stayed here on our way back from visiting Ise Shrine. The building felt a bit old, but the Room had been renovated, and above all, the staff’s hospitality made our stay very comfortable. The location was great, and the view from the Room was outstanding. Dinner featured a wonderful selection of Ise-Shima cuisine, and we enjoyed spiny lobster, abalone, and Matsusaka beef. We will be back.

A Hotel where you can relax and unwind slowly

A few days before our Ise pilgrimage was decided, we hurriedly searched for and made a Reservation at this Hotel (early February). The exterior shown on Google Maps looks a bit dated, but once we arrived and stepped inside, the spacious entrance and quiet atmosphere immediately put us at ease. The staff member handling check-in was an older gentleman, and his thoughtful attention to detail left a very positive impression. The room was spacious, and with the ocean stretching out in front of the balcony-side window, it felt wonderfully open. The 1F lounge also has an ocean view, with free coffee and tea available. It was great to see how welcoming it felt for anyone to drop in casually. Both the indoor bath and the Onsen were very clean and generously sized, so we could relax comfortably. Amenities were more than sufficient as well. For dinner and breakfast, other Reviews were extremely high, so if my expectations were 90, I’d rate them around 75... That said, dinner was served in a private room so we could take our time, and the breakfast venue was spacious too, allowing us to enjoy our meal in a calm setting. (I may be a bit strict with my ratings, but my companion was very satisfied.) Overall, this is a good Hotel where you can unwind at your own pace and enjoy tasty meals. Depending on the season, I would like to stay again.

It was a very disappointing trip.

Room It was a historic Room with a Japanese-style room, a Western-style room, and a bedroom. Since it was winter, it still felt cold even with the heater set to 31°C, and we were advised not to use the semi-open-air bath attached to the Room because it would be too cold. Because of this, we couldn’t really enjoy the benefit of having a semi-open-air bath in the Room during winter, which made it feel like poor value—very disappointing. The sofa in the Room was quite worn; you could feel the coils inside pressing into the seat cushion and it was painful to sit on. The bed is firm. We laid the futon provided in the Room on top of the mattress, but it was far from comfortable for sleeping. I do not recommend visiting in winter. Food Both seafood and meat dishes were delicious and we were satisfied. We were served by an international staff member. The smile and service attitude were good, but their explanations of each dish were hard to understand and their Japanese did not seem fluent, so we had to ask repeatedly. The semi-private seating area at dinner was spacious. Unfortunately, a large group next to us was extremely loud—so much that we could barely hold a conversation—so we asked to move seats. The new table was very quiet and allowed us to enjoy both our meal and conversation at ease, which was great. As an apology for moving seats (?), we were told by the person in charge of dinner that one drink would be complimentary service, so we ordered soft drinks. However, at checkout we were still charged for those soft drinks. We paid without saying anything at checkout, but left feeling unsettled. If it’s truly “complimentary,” charging for it doesn’t make sense. Overall, this ended up being a disappointing trip.

The view from the room was wonderful, allowing us to enjoy the sunrise in a quiet and truly relaxing atmosphere. A classic and charming Hotel

Despite the unfortunate weather, the hospitality of the staff was so wonderful that it made up for it. As mentioned by one of the staff members, the age of the facility cannot be denied, but they have creatively utilized it, making it enjoyable in its own way. The meals were plentiful and delicious. I would love to stay again if I have another opportunity. Thank you very much!

    The building is old ...

The building is old and completely different from the photos on IKYU.com. Overall, the accommodation was not cleaned properly at all. I booked a Japanese-style room under the "Girls' Gathering Plan × Sangu Kaiseki ~With 4 Special Treats for Women~," but there were red stains in several places on the tatami mats, which looked unsettling and possibly like blood. The plan mentioned "stylish loungewear more comfortable than yukata," but what we received were worn-out indoor clothes resembling an old man's samue outfit. Moreover, there were four identical pairs of pants for some reason—this is supposed to be stylish loungewear for a girls' gathering? The samue also had multiple large stains, making it impossible to wear even if washed. Additionally, only one regular yukata was provided despite our group size. In the refrigerator, there was an opened bottle of water left behind by a previous guest, which made it feel unhygienic and unusable. A coffee mill was provided in the room; however, the box that presumably should have contained coffee beans was empty from the start. The bathroom mirror had countless water stains as if no cleaning or inspection had been done before our stay. At dinner, we were served Ise lobster sashimi and told not to break its shell because it would be used in miso soup for breakfast. The thought of consuming something that might have been touched by others’ hands or chopsticks felt unsanitary and frightening—I couldn’t eat the miso soup at all. Wi-Fi did not work outside of our room even within other areas of the facility. I visited the public bath at 11:00 PM and again at 6:30 AM; however, large trash that had fallen on the changing room floor during my night visit remained untouched by morning. Although access to public baths isn’t available 24 hours here either way—it seems no cleaning occurs during closed hours either. While calling reception might have resolved issues like replacing yukata or other items brought up earlier—there’s no guarantee replacements would’ve been clean enough given how poorly everything else seemed managed already! Ultimately losing trust entirely toward this ryokan meant giving up seeking help altogether instead! Despite advertising itself as luxurious high-end Ryokan experience reality fell far below expectations leaving worst impression compared past stays anywhere else ever experienced!

    The staff consisted ...

The staff consisted of young members, and while there were some awkward moments, their sincere and polite service was truly commendable. The rooms, bathrooms, and overall facilities were impeccably clean, allowing for a comfortable stay in every space. The tasteful decorations and ornaments added a visual delight to the experience. I was particularly impressed by the fresh flowers displayed throughout such a large facility, which brought surprise, emotion, and relaxation. We stayed in a room on the top floor with an ocean view. The sunrise and sunset from the room were stunningly beautiful, and the clear ocean visible from the balcony was mesmerizing enough to make us forget about the cold weather. The layout of the room was efficient yet spacious, ensuring a very comfortable stay. The bathroom was spotless with well-maintained floors that felt refreshing underfoot. All showers worked perfectly fine as well! Additionally, the quality of Onsen water was exceptional—leaving both body and mind thoroughly warmed up. The chilled tea after bathing added an extra touch of refreshment—it tasted absolutely delightful! We only had breakfast during our stay; it was served buffet-style which initially set low expectations on my part—but I couldn’t have been more wrong! Every dish featured fresh ingredients paired generously alongside excellent seasoning resulting in delicious flavors across all options available (especially seafood!). Moreover—the thoughtful touches like complimentary ice cream at rest areas or late-night udon noodles made everything even better—completely satisfying us beyond measure! Exploring their private beach turned out breathtaking too—a scenic pathway led directly toward pristine shores offering picturesque views perfect for photography enthusiasts alike—a true hidden gem worth visiting again someday despite living far away currently… If ever returning near Ise region—I’d undoubtedly choose this place once more without hesitation!

We do not recommend using the glamping facilities.

The worst accommodation experience. The special New Year’s rate was approximately 70,000 yen, but the experience provided did not match the price at all. Especially the glamping BBQ, both in content and quality, fell far below expectations. There was a significant gap between what was imagined from prior information and listings on platforms like IKYU.com. (Photos are attached for reference, but it is far from being worth 70,000 yen for glamping.) The discrepancy between the listings on all reservation sites like IKYU.com and the actual experience was so vast that, honestly speaking, it felt almost fraudulent from a consumer perspective. It is truly inappropriate to list this under the same review as the main Ryokan building. Additionally, despite being winter operations, the interior was extremely cold with insufficient heating even in the kotatsu. The lack of basic comfort was very disappointing. When inquiring about glamping issues with staff members who mentioned "the hotel is your point of contact," there were no sufficient explanations or resolutions provided. This left dissatisfaction as their response felt indifferent and operational without any sense of hospitality or desire to welcome guests back again. Reluctantly paying additional fees allowed us access to upgrade into one premium room located atop floors within its main Ryokan building instead—where both guest rooms alongside Onsen facilities proved exceptional! The potential held by these accommodations themselves remains high overall; however poor management surrounding Glamping services detracts significantly here! Personally speaking: outsourcing Glamping operations externally OR involving major branded hotels ensuring unified quality standards could transform this place into an excellent Hotel entirely someday soon perhaps? For future visitors planning stays ahead: strongly recommend choosing accommodations inside its Main Building rather than opting toward Glampings altogether!

Very disappointed with the reception service and training.

There were numerous issues with the reception upon arrival, leaving a very poor first impression of the accommodation. I handed over a sharp object resembling a toothpick found on the sofa to the staff, but there was no apology, which felt unsettling. Additionally, during luggage handling, an inappropriate comment such as "It got all messy" was made, causing further discomfort. During room guidance, despite beds already being prepared for the number of guests, I was asked whether futons were needed, giving an impression of poor awareness of the situation. Being asked about check-out time immediately after check-in also felt unnatural and came across as vague and impolite. Considering the high Accommodation Fee charged here, it is disappointing to see insufficient training for reception staff and a lack of basic hospitality. Furthermore, there was no tea offered during reception or room guidance—a lack of consideration expected from high-end accommodations. The hallways and rooms were generally dimly lit with areas where lights were off or possibly burnt out bulbs remained unattended—this added to feelings of unease. There seems to be inadequate attention given to facility inspections and lighting management. While dinner service (though mistakenly assumed private) left a positive impression thanks largely due polite staff interactions; breakfast buffet variety seemed limited while baths themselves neither stood out positively nor negatively overall experience-wise. Having anticipated much excitement around this trip after long hiatus—the particularly negative impact stemming directly from initial Check-In mishandling remains unforgettable disappointment urging immediate focus improving both front-desk training alongside operational maintenance moving forward!
