It was a relaxing accommodation.
We visited your highly-rated accommodation to relax and recover from this year's intense summer heat. First, we were comforted by the warm hospitality of your staff. They were discreet yet always attentive in a thoughtful manner. We reserved three private baths upon arrival (though not necessarily at our preferred times due to availability) and enjoyed the unique atmosphere of each one. The bath we most wanted to try, "Shinpeki," was available the next morning. Soaking in Shinpeki while watching the waterfall amidst deep greenery was truly breathtaking. It was our first time experiencing an open-air bath in such a setting, which was incredibly soothing as well. We left with hopes of visiting again during autumn's foliage season. Thank you for your hospitality!

Completely satisfied.
I visited with my parents and aunt. We were satisfied with both the meals and the service. It would be perfect if there were considerations for elderly guests, such as handrails in the bathroom or Room. Special thanks to Mr./Ms. O, who was in charge of our Room, for their excellent care. We would love to visit again!

It was excellent.
Driving down the winding slope, three staff members were waiting at the entrance. Although I arrived a bit early, I was able to check in immediately and was shown to my room. The room was the smallest "Sakura" room, but it was spacious enough for one person. I had requested a high chair in advance, so there were both a regular floor chair and a high chair in the room, which was very helpful. Meals were served in the room, allowing me to enjoy them at my own pace. The food was delicious! I was amazed by how perfectly timed each dish arrived one after another—it almost felt like there might be cameras installed in the room (just kidding!). There are four private Onsen baths available: I used "Seiran" after check-in, "Hajizome" before dinner, "Mizuhana" after dinner, "Shinpeki" the next morning, and finally enjoyed my own Onsen bath in my room after breakfast—five times total! Unfortunately, since it’s summer now, horseflies were buzzing around at the outdoor bath so I couldn’t stay too long there. In addition to this wonderful experience: various drinks are available at lounges and some of the baths; also Nigori sake (cloudy sake) is offered after meals. Drinks and ice cream inside your room's refrigerator are complimentary as well. Next time I'd love to visit again during another season with my wife! However—one thing caught my attention this time: during meals I repeatedly heard loud running noises echoing through... What could that have been? It seemed odd because there weren’t many guests staying that day—I didn’t encounter anyone else from check-in until checkout!

Solo Journey for Adults in Michinoku
As you descend the winding private road to the accommodation, a staff member greets you with a warm "Welcome" about 10 meters before the entrance. Upon parking in front of the entrance and stepping inside, all the staff enthusiastically greet you. The team is mostly young, giving off an energetic vibe. The room has a calm and refined Japanese-modern style. At 3:00 PM, I enjoyed a semi-open-air hinoki bath. Surrounded by forest with no noise, there was a faint scent of sulfur—an exceptional onsen experience. Dinner started at 5:45 PM and was served in the room, allowing for a relaxed dining experience. Every dish was delicious. They introduced me to "Fukuwarai," rice produced by specialized farmers in Fukushima, which was incredibly tasty and came with an informational pamphlet. I requested rice balls for a late-night snack, and they kindly included cheese and crackers on the plate as well—thank you for your thoughtfulness. The next morning at 6:50 AM, I visited an open-air bath called Shinpeki. Once again surrounded by nature's beauty (while keeping an eye out for bears!), it offered ultimate relaxation—a truly remarkable outdoor bath. Although it was just one night’s stay, I felt completely rejuvenated. I would love to visit again during another season!

A luxurious Onsen accommodation that soothes both your mind and body, making you want to visit again.
The accommodation was absolutely wonderful, especially the baths. The four private open-air baths had a great atmosphere, and the open-air bath you reach by descending 56 steps felt like a hidden retreat, offering a truly special experience. Unfortunately, I couldn't use the natural hot spring open-air bath this time due to circumstances, but I will definitely come back to enjoy it next time! The room was spotless and thoroughly cleaned. Parts of the building had been renovated, making my stay very comfortable. What stood out most was the staff member in charge of our room. They were knowledgeable, always greeted us with a smile, and their thoughtful attention to detail made me feel very welcomed. It was such a lovely accommodation that I would love to visit again!

I had a relaxing stay.
Meals and baths are arranged to ensure privacy, allowing for a very relaxing stay. The baths are cleaned after each use, ensuring cleanliness and comfort throughout the visit. The Kyoto-style lightly seasoned cuisine was exceptionally delicious.

We visited for my husband's 60th birthday celebration trip. I had been looking forward to it after seeing the photos of Shinpeki, but the actual experience exceeded my expectations. The open-air bath surrounded by primeval forest with a view of the mountain stream was absolutely amazing. The other private baths were also wonderful. The service and attention from the staff were very detailed and excellent. The meals, made with local ingredients, were delicious, and there was a wide selection of local sake that my husband thoroughly enjoyed. My husband was truly delighted, and I’m so glad we chose this accommodation. Thank you very much! We would love to visit again in a different season.

It was a great accommodation!
It was a very relaxing accommodation. Despite the heavy rain, it added to the charm, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The bathing system was smooth, and the staff's hospitality was satisfying. It's a great place to visit in any season. Thank you very much!

A Relaxing Day Off
Stayed alone on a Saturday. Took the bus from Fukushima Station East Exit to the final stop at Tsuchiyu Onsen. About an hour before boarding, I received a call from the accommodation asking which bus I would take, and upon arrival, an Alphard was waiting to pick me up. The bus runs once an hour and arrived at 14:08; I reached the accommodation just before 14:30. After receiving explanations in my room, I made reservations for private onsen baths (three times: before dinner, after dinner, and the next morning). There are four private baths available; I tried three of them. Additional reservations can be made once all guests have arrived and initial bookings are completed. Before departure the next morning, I reserved one more session. Each session is about 40 minutes for the first time (to allow for shampooing and washing) and about 30 minutes thereafter. However, if ready earlier than scheduled, you may receive a call from reception to start sooner. While some reviews mentioned that 30 minutes felt short, it was sufficient for me. After bathing, you can relax in the lounge with milk (Rakuou), canned beer, or various soft drinks available. The lounge is open from early morning until 10 PM—very convenient. Dinner was served in-room; while sashimi wasn’t great (understandable as it’s inland), Fukushima beef cooked on lava stone was delicious. It was also nice that no odd solid fuel dishes were served. The room's attached bath uses natural hot spring water (close to boiling), but since it’s quite small—smaller than a typical home bathtub—and adjusting water temperature is tricky, I only used it once as four sessions in private baths were more than enough. The private baths are spacious enough for about four people together and are cleaned after every use (used towels and trash are also collected). As for views from my room—it overlooked trees or forest-like surroundings without any notable scenery beyond that. I stayed in a Japanese-style room without an engawa or chairs; however low chairs suitable for tatami rooms can be provided upon request during meals. All staff appeared to be young adults in their twenties or thirties—they were polite with clear communication skills and left a positive impression overall. This is an accommodation I'd like to revisit when looking to relax leisurely!

The Onsen was incredibly relaxing.
Located within Bandai-Asahi National Park, this accommodation is nestled in a primeval forest where you can hear birds chirping and the soothing sounds of waterfalls and rivers, leaving you refreshed. The private onsen baths with natural hot spring water are exceptional, offering a variety of options with ample space. The changing area is impeccably clean, with plenty of towels available for use. Skincare products provided include SHIGETA for women and Shiseido's premium line for men. A selection of beverages is also available at the private onsen baths, making them highly satisfying. The in-room bath was also outstanding. The water was naturally hot without being diluted, so I waited for it to cool down naturally before enjoying it. Splashing myself with the hotter water felt incredibly rejuvenating. I enjoyed soaking in the onsen five times during my stay! My skin felt smooth, and I left feeling completely refreshed. Meals were delicious and served in-room, allowing me to enjoy them comfortably even as a solo traveler. Overall, I could relax fully throughout my stay as an individual guest. It’s just a 40-minute ride from Fukushima Station by local bus while enjoying scenic views along the way—it felt like no time at all before arriving at Tsuchiya Onsen. The staff kindly arranged bus tickets for me and even picked me up by car from the bus stop to ensure a comfortable journey. The natural scenery visible from the open-air onsen baths is breathtaking; autumn foliage or snowy landscapes would surely be equally stunning!

Relaxed both body and mind.
It was our first trip to Fukushima Prefecture in a while, and while the Onsen was great, everything from the scenery to the people and food was wonderful. After returning home, my wife and I talked about how we should have booked a Multiple Night Stay. We were very satisfied as we used three private baths during our one-night stay. However, if I had to mention one thing, despite the explanation provided, the water in the Room bath took some time to heat up.

An Exceptional Accommodation for Ultimate Satisfaction
We stayed at the detached "Kasong" for a three-generation family trip, and it was truly an exceptional accommodation. We travel several times a year to accommodations in the same price range, but it's rare to find one with such high satisfaction. 【Guest Room & Amenities】 The guest room was spacious and comfortable as it was detached. While the interior design and furnishings were quite simple, they were sufficient for use, including amenities, making our stay very comfortable. The hallway had underfloor heating, keeping our feet warm during movement—so much so that it felt even more comfortable than inside the room. 【Hospitality & Service】 This is one of the major factors that made this accommodation feel like the best. While some places excel in facilities but fall short in service, every staff member here provided high-level hospitality with polite and pleasant service. 【Onsen & Bath】 Simply outstanding. We enjoyed "Shinpeki" in the evening, "Mizuhana" at night, and "Seiran" in the morning—each bath had its own unique charm depending on the time of day. During our evening bath at "Shinpeki," we were astonished when two wild serows ran between the large and small baths—a memorable experience unique to an Onsen surrounded by nature. The Onsen not only offered excellent location and design but also featured soft-textured water with a smooth feel on the skin; its temperature was just right as well. 【Facility & Equipment】 The facility has several stairs leading to baths within tatami-floored areas where slippers are unnecessary—making movement relatively easy even for my elderly mother who has weaker legs. There’s also a walking path descending into a gorge near the entrance of this accommodation where you can enjoy streams with wild watercress or parsley growing naturally along with blooming primroses—a delightful stroll indeed! The detached “Kasong” is located just seconds away from their main building via pathways adorned seasonally by weeping cherry blossoms near entrances alongside light pink rhododendrons budding nearby while deep crimson camellias bloom beautifully further back—all perfect scenery especially appreciated by flower enthusiasts like us! 【Dining Experience】 Both dinner & breakfast exceeded expectations regarding quality/quantity featuring local delicacies from Fukushima blending mountain-sea flavors alongside traditional dishes rich yet subtle-tasting overall though those accustomed towards stronger seasoning might find themselves wanting slightly more intensity taste-wise!

This was my second stay, and I was finally able to revisit. I truly appreciated the thoughtful gestures, such as providing origami for the children. Each onsen had its own unique charm and was wonderful, and the private bath in the room was very comfortable, allowing us to enjoy a luxurious time. The staff maintained an appropriate distance while engaging in pleasant conversations, and I am deeply grateful for their warm hospitality.

It is a lovely Stays.
I stayed at Hanamura in Hanare. The room was warm up to the hallway, well-cleaned, and very comfortable. The private baths were all wonderful, but especially "Shinpeki" allows you to fully experience the great nature of the national park, offering an extraordinary experience. I recommend visiting during daylight hours. There are long stairs to climb and descend, but that is also part of the charm. The meals were all gently seasoned, carefully prepared, and although I was full, I finished everything. It seems to be a property with history, but all the staff were young and very kind. When I emailed about celebrating my parents' golden wedding anniversary, they prepared a sparkling wine for a toast and a celebratory plate, which made my parents very happy. With accommodation prices rising these days, it is not a cheap price, but this property truly offers value for the price. It is a memorable and moving property that I definitely want to visit again someday.

I had a relaxing stay.
I had a very elegant start to the new year. The private bath had a location that far exceeded my imagination. I was more than satisfied with the open-air bath in the Room, so it was more than enough. I was able to experience a snow-viewing bath at just the right time, and next time I would like to experience the world of fresh greenery. We were picked up at the bus stop, had a very smooth check-in, the Room was warmed up for us, the open-air bath in the Room (even just the cypress bath was enough), the perfect amount of food, and the staff's response, all of which filled our hearts. Thank you very much. My partner (wife) was soaking in the bath about 10 times a day, including the bath in the Room.

The best open-air bath
The private bath was excellent. Located in the midst of nature, the atmosphere was outstanding. Moreover, being able to use it as a private bath meant we could enjoy it with just our family, which was great, and having hot towels was a nice touch. However, it's a bit disappointing that the bath time is limited to 30 minutes per session, so you can't relax as much as you'd like. Especially for the first bath, considering you wash your body, soak, and then dry your hair, even 40 minutes feels very short. That part felt a bit rushed. But overall, it was a very nice experience. The bath near the river is also fantastic.

Stays for 140,000 yen
Stayed for a family trip. Good points: The open-air bath along the river was very nice among the four baths. Bad points: The bath is far, and the long stairs are tough, making it difficult for the elderly. The interior is tatami-matted, so the sound of walking can be heard in the room, which is quite noisy. There is only one room key, and it has a large iron keychain, making it heavy and troublesome to leave it at the front desk every time you go to the bath. Since it's a private bath, you get a bathing sign from the front desk and return it when you're done, but there was a time I forgot the sign, and when I told the front desk, they told me to go get it, making me go down the 50 steps again. It was my fault for forgetting, but being told to go get it was... The taste of the food was ordinary, but the timing was off, with dishes coming out too early or too late, making it awkward. The worst part was receiving a call after checking out and being told that a charge for one paid drink was missed. When I said I would transfer the money, they mentioned a transfer fee, making me wonder if they wanted me to come back and pay. (Summary) This time it was 140,000 yen for three people, but I didn't feel it was worth the price. I could sense the effort to provide good service, and they did see us off and welcome us with everyone, but it wasn't about that; it was the service during the stay, the food, and creating a more user-friendly facility for the elderly that were lacking, making it feel like self-praise service. That said, it depends on what level of service you expect from a countryside Onsen. The open-air bath along the river was exceptionally good, so I recommend going on a cheap weekday.

The private bath is as wonderful as the reviews say.
The staff were very pleasant, allowing us to have a comfortable stay. Above all, the onsen was excellent and we were very satisfied. It happened to be my birthday during our stay, and I received various thoughtful gestures and congratulations from everyone. Although I'm no longer at an age to celebrate, I was very happy, albeit a bit embarrassed. The meals were delicious, but I thought a little more creativity could be added.

Stayed one night in a room with an open-air bath, Kobushi.
Since the onsen and meals were good, I noticed some regrettable points. I usually don't write reviews, but I would like to express my gratitude. First, there was a minor issue with the ryokan before our stay. It was resolved by suggesting a request for action from our side. Thank you. If the ryokan has a sense of dignity, a poor discount might be a negative. Points of concern: ● The person in charge of serving dinner seemed to be a newcomer and was inexperienced. Please do your best. ● The surprise candle was forgotten. It's a commemoration, so these things are important. ● There was a strand of hair caught in the lighting of the dining room during dinner. Please be careful. ● When laying out the futon, I felt a sense of throwing it through the sliding door. I think politeness is fundamental. ● The room was small for the price, and the view was not visible, which did not exceed expectations. ● During sleep, the sound of dripping water "ton... ton... ton..." kept echoing, making it difficult to sleep peacefully. That said, everything else was wonderful. My companion praised the two female staff members who welcomed us as cute. The dining room was warm with underfloor heating, and the change of clothes was comfortable. The free drinks in the refrigerator and the towels placed at each onsen were helpful. The deep blue open-air bath was the best ever. The open-air bath and hinoki bath in the room were also good, and I liked the amenities. Every dish from dinner, including fish, meat, and rice, was satisfying. The chocolate cake ordered as a surprise was delicious, and my companion was delighted. I chose this place to celebrate my companion, and it was a good experience for me as well. Thank you.

New private bath
I visit almost every year because I love the private bath with deep blue water. This time, I was surprised to find a new private bath made of cypress. As soon as I arrived, I was the first to try it. The new private bath, located opposite the deep blue one, has a pleasant cypress aroma, a spacious area to relax, and a refrigerator stocked with beer and tea juice. I floated a tub in the bath and enjoyed a beer. It was a very luxurious way to bathe. The staff and everyone else were very kind, and the food is always delicious, making it my favorite inn. I would like to visit during the autumn leaves season next time.

I had high expectations because of the good reviews, so I made a reservation six months ago and was really looking forward to it. However, from the moment we were guided to our room, the hallway smelled. I couldn't identify the smell, but it was unpleasant. When we entered the room, the smell was even stronger. It was a different smell from the hallway. The smell persisted all night, to the point where it woke me up. I can only think it might be mold or building materials... Was it just our room and the hallway before it that smelled? The hot spring was nice, but with such a strong smell, I won't be returning. It's a shame. By the way, the waiting area at the Tsuchiyu Onsen bus stop also smells unusually bad. For those returning by bus, be cautious.
