    A highly satisfying Hotel.

    The wind was strong and it was cold, so we arrived early, but we were immediately guided to our Room and even received an upgrade. We entered the Room in the best mood. Although it felt a bit small for three family members, the view from the Room was amazing, and there were no complaints about the loungewear or amenities. The Japanese-Western fusion dinner course was delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed it with Shimoda wine. At breakfast, when sunlight streaming into the venue became noticeable, staff quickly set up a screen outside to block it. Their prompt response and kind words left a great impression on us. Other staff members at the restaurant were also attentive and efficient throughout. The large public bath was very pleasant, and having towels readily available added convenience. Overall, this is a wonderful Hotel with high satisfaction in every aspect. We would love to visit again. Thank you for your hospitality!

    It was excellent.

    Although the sky was cloudy on the day, the view from the room was wonderful and very soothing, making it a pleasant stay. The accommodation was established in 1987, making it older than me, but the room was impeccably clean and did not feel old at all. For dinner, we enjoyed a course from our plan, and since it was our wedding anniversary, we received complimentary drinks as a thoughtful gesture from the hotel. The meal exceeded expectations with excellent ingredients, flavors, presentation, and perfect timing of service. That night marked the hotel's 34th anniversary since its establishment; fireworks were launched to celebrate this occasion. The display was stunning and powerful—truly moving to watch. Originally scheduled for two days earlier but postponed due to a typhoon's impact—it happened on our stay date instead—making us feel incredibly lucky! The breakfast buffet offered an abundant variety of high-quality dishes that were deliciously satisfying. We had an extremely comfortable stay that turned into a memorable anniversary celebration!

    Cozy Hotel

    I arrived earlier than the check-in time, but I was allowed to go to my Room immediately. It was very helpful as I headed straight to the Hotel due to the heat, feeling unmotivated for sightseeing. I visited the bath several times. It was always comfortable and pleasant, making me think that it must be cleaned frequently. The breakfast, especially the Japanese dishes, was simply delicious! The miso soup with fish heads, tempura, and simmered dishes were particularly great. I had multiple servings of tempura. It's impressive how clean the buffet area always is—it's clear that it's tidied up regularly. Although I didn't have many opportunities to interact with staff or experience anything particularly memorable in that regard, I felt this is a Hotel where everything is naturally well-maintained down to every detail.

    The meals were delicious, and the staff provided excellent service everywhere. If I had to mention something, it would be nice to have more options on the kids' menu, and the tea could have been better.

    A Resort Hotel with Stunning Views

    We stayed for two nights during summer vacation as a couple. The deciding factors were the adult pool, walking distance to the beach, and dining options beyond just buffets. It was our first stay, and the Resort Hotel had a charming atmosphere located on a hill overlooking the beautiful sea of Minami-Izu. Upon arrival at the entrance, staff greeted us promptly, ensuring a smooth check-in process. Our twin ocean-view room on the top 6th floor was compact but beautifully renovated with resort-like blue and white tones that made our stay very pleasant. We dined at the hotel's French restaurant both evenings. The calm ambiance paired with dishes that rivaled popular French restaurants in Tokyo made for an exceptional experience—everything was absolutely delicious. Although accommodation fees were quite high due to peak season, we felt that the meals were worth it. On our second night, we were lucky enough to enjoy fireworks up close during their "Fireworks Night." Due to its compact size, facilities like public baths and breakfast buffets can get crowded; therefore, reserving breakfast is recommended. While there were minor issues such as missing room amenities or undersized loungewear in our room, these were quickly resolved after contacting reception. We also booked a couple's session at their spa which turned out to be an incredibly relaxing experience. The absence of large tour groups allowed for a quiet stay despite many families being present. The staff members were kind and attentive throughout our visit. This hotel is highly recommended not only for families but also for older couples seeking a peaceful getaway!

    The bath and breakfast were very crowded, which was tiring. Additionally, the sea was far away and had many rocks, which was different from what I imagined—very disappointing. However, the food was delicious, and that part was enjoyable.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    Spending summer at a hotel with a pool has become an annual event for our family. This time, we stayed at Shimoda Tokyu Hotel for the first time. The hospitality of the staff, attention to meals, and their excellent service were outstanding, and my wife and children are already saying they want to visit again. The beach and pool had a private feel, were clean, and provided a relaxing atmosphere. In particular, the flow from the pool to the bath and room, as well as towel support services, were exceptional. There was even a washing machine available. We’ve visited many hotels with pools before, but this one was thoughtfully designed and very comfortable.

    Parking lot trash

    Empty bento boxes and drink containers from convenience store meals were scattered in the parking lot's shrubbery. This was the first scene upon arrival, leaving the worst impression of the Hotel and raising concerns about the type of guests staying here. Without attention to detail, customers will quietly drift away.

    The staff's excellent service from the entrance allowed us to enjoy a very comfortable Hotel stay. The food and bath were also wonderful! We look forward to staying again next year.

    Enjoyed the Shimoda Onsen.

    It was my first visit to Shimoda in a while. The purpose of this trip was to enjoy the Shimoda Onsen and visit the Hydrangea Festival at Shimoda Park. The shuttle bus from the hotel dropped us off near Shimoda Park, which was very convenient. We enjoyed viewing 3 million hydrangea flowers there. At the hotel, I used the large public Onsen four times over two days and was very satisfied. For dinner, I enjoyed the "Bansho" course meal. It had a variety of dishes and was a luxurious course that left me fully satisfied. The clam chowder with half a spiny lobster and the beef fillet were especially exquisite. I would love to stay here again if I have another opportunity!

    Dinner was delicious...

    Dinner was delicious. Breakfast was average, but the kamameshi rice was tasty. The dressing area in the large public bath was small, but the open-air bath was great. I was surprised by the number of Asian tourists. I used it with Diamond Member benefits, but the welcome sweets were two small items similar to what you’d find at a ryokan. The check-in and check-out benefits are the same as those for Comfort Club members, so I didn’t find much value in using these perks. On my way back, I was alone on the shuttle bus. When I spoke to the driver, he shared many stories like a guide would, and I had an enjoyable time at the end of my trip.

    A property where you can always relax

    I have been visiting for over 20 years. It is always a relaxing property for us, combining old and new. The breakfast variety is also wonderful. It was unfortunate that there was no porridge, but the kamameshi was delicious. Since the rice was delicious, I asked the female staff at the restaurant about it and learned that it is "Kinumusume" and can be found at a roadside station in Minami-Izu (Minamiizu). We headed there and were able to see the wonderful scenery of early-blooming cherry blossoms and rapeseed flower fields in Minami-Izu (Minamiizu), making it a very nice trip.

    【Room & Amenities】 We stayed in a Japanese-style room with four people and were able to relax. If there are five people, one person will need to lay out a futon on the other side of the partition. There were tea sweets placed on the table, and I was delighted by this small gesture of hospitality. 【Customer Service】 All the staff we encountered were kind and their warm-hearted service touched us. Unlike large hotels in urban areas, I think it's great that they can pay attention to each guest individually. 【Onsen & Bath】 We could check the congestion status of the large public bath from our room, so we could use it comfortably when it was less crowded. The Onsen water seemed simple but after returning to our room, my body remained warm for a while, allowing me to feel the benefits of an Onsen that you can't get at home. 【Facility & Equipment】 The Hotel is located on higher ground than expected and having a shuttle service from Izukyu-Shimoda Station was helpful. Although we couldn't ride the Shimoda Ropeway, later on a TV program showed views from its summit which made me realize that similar views could be enjoyed from this hotel's garden as well. 【Dining】 The dinner course offered various dishes with combinations I'd never seen before which made dining enjoyable. Each dish had intricate presentation and careful seasoning tailored for Japanese tastes despite being served in Western-style table settings. I highly recommend opting for meals if staying at this Hotel! It had been quite some time since I last experienced such an exciting breakfast buffet with so many options to choose from. While many hotels have chefs preparing omelets fresh-to-order; instead (?), having freshly cooked Kamameshi available added originality which was nice too. 【Satisfaction Level】 Originally visiting during February's second week aiming for Kawazu cherry blossoms; unfortunately blooming occurred later than usual hence not visible then. However pleasant sunny weather vast ocean view along with time spent at this Hotel blew away any disappointment making it into wonderful trip overall!

    Unfortunately, we we...

    Unfortunately, we went to see the Kawazu cherry blossoms, but they were still buds. (This year's blooming was delayed) The Hotel had clean Rooms and the meals were delicious. (My husband said the portions were small, though.) We have visited Shimoda twice for sightseeing and love its calm atmosphere. We would like to visit again.

    I had a wonderful holiday.

    This was my first stay. The view from the Room, the meals, and the open-air bath were fantastic! The only downside was that I couldn't purchase my preferred drink after the bath due to a vending machine malfunction. I couldn't find an outlet for the hairdryer in the bathroom of the Room—did I overlook it? I used the hairdryer inside the Room, but it would have been nice to have a mirror installed indoors. However, the meals were excellent, and I would love to visit again.

    The hospitality and meals are excellent.

    We stayed with my daughter and her husband, making it a group of four. The service and meals were excellent, so I wanted to share my experience. The shuttle service was impeccable, maintaining punctual departures from Izukyu-Shimoda Station and assisting with luggage upon arrival. Although there were 4-5 groups arriving at the same time, the sorting of waiting turns, guidance according to order, and efficient check-in were all handled smoothly. When we went to see the illuminations at night, a bell staff member kindly offered to take our photo. Despite the busy "Afternoon Tea," there was evident attention to seating arrangements and guidance. The restaurant recommended and reserved by the concierge for lunch was delicious and satisfying. Their research skills are impressive. Dinner was the "Bansho" course. Each dish was meticulously prepared, with hot dishes served hot and cold dishes served cold. There were no pre-prepared dishes, and we felt a sense of satisfaction after the 2 hours and 45 minutes meal. Having stayed at hotels in a similar price range where dishes were evidently pre-prepared, this experience was truly impressive. Breakfast was a buffet. Although I generally don't prefer buffets, the quality of the dishes here was high, and I enjoyed the omelets and kamameshi, finding them delicious. The hotel staff, spanning a wide range of ages, all seemed united in their enthusiasm to elevate Shimoda Tokyu Hotel. This time, we stayed in a Superior Twin on the top floor (6th floor). We had a view of the blue sea right in front of us and watched the sunrise paint the sky orange. The location is superb. While the building shows its age, it has been appropriately renovated. The room had plenty of outlets, so charging devices was not an issue. The large public bath is somewhat small, but there is consideration, such as being able to check the congestion status via smartphone. This was our first visit, but we would like to return if the opportunity arises.

    Feel like a villa in Izu

    Reserved a hotel including gratitude to my wife. We had a great time. We checked in early and took a walk along Nabeta Beach, once again experiencing the beauty of the Izu sea. The view of the Pacific Ocean from the open-air bath and the spacious room was a luxurious time. Dinner was even more enjoyable after watching "Grand Maison Tokyo" and Paris. The fish dishes and sauces, in particular, had a complex deliciousness that made our conversation lively. The open-air bath, where you can enjoy the wide sea and the comings and goings of ships at dawn, was pleasant. The room, bath, and restaurant were hygienic and clean. The staff worked efficiently and were pleasant. Especially the young staff were able to communicate well with overseas guests in foreign languages, and their attitude towards work was very commendable. Not only inside the hotel but also the garden and surroundings were well-maintained, and the breakfast buffet was attentive with the special touch of freshly made omelets, a variety of Japanese and Western dishes, and plenty of desserts. Blinds were prepared so that the morning sun was not dazzling, and the hospitality was thorough. I have come to love Izu even more. Thank you very much.

    It was a relaxing two days.

    This time, we were able to avoid the rain just in time, and we had a relaxing stay to celebrate my mother's birthday. We enjoyed the Onsen multiple times over the two days. The dinner had quite an unconventional lineup, but everything was delicious, including the dessert. During our previous stay, there was a foreign guest who entered the bath with sandals, and this time, despite the steps, there was another foreign guest who entered the changing room with slippers. It made me wonder if such things are difficult for foreigners to understand. Other than that, I was impressed with the eco-friendly initiatives. I hope to have another relaxing stay next time while enjoying the view from the lovely Room.

    It was comfortable and relaxing.

    This time, thanks to the exemplary service that embodies a true hotelman, we had a stay that brought smiles even during the busy New Year period. It was a trip where we were soothed by the view from the room, the comfort of the onsen, and the deliciousness of the meals. Although this is only our third visit, my wife seems to have become very fond of it, and she hopes to stay again whenever we have the opportunity to visit Minami-Izu. There are not many hotels like this, so please continue to work as a team to create an even better hotel. We are looking forward to it. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

    I stayed here during the New Year.

    I stayed for one night on January 2nd. The Room was very clean, and the view was fantastic. However, the Room was a bit dry, and even after turning off the air conditioning, it felt quite hot, making it difficult to sleep. It was nice to receive detailed communication during the busy season, but the dinner course took two hours, and I got full halfway through. The bath changing room was small, and it was disappointing that there was no sauna on the women's side. The complimentary sake was very nice. The weather was good at night, and the stars were beautiful, like a natural planetarium. In the morning, it was nice to see the stuffed sea turtles and sea lions from the Shimoda Aquarium.

    A word about dinner

    On 2024/12/28, for the year-end trip, I stayed at the Tokyu Shimoda Hotel for the first night. The check-in time was around 14:20, and I appreciated being allowed into the room. However, regarding dinner time, the front desk mentioned, "Today is busy, so dinner will be from 20:00." I wondered if it was 20:00 even with such an early check-in because there were many guests staying for multiple nights from the previous day. The view from the room was a wonderful sight. At around 19:35, the restaurant called the room to say that the meal was ready. Sitting in the restaurant and looking at the stylish menu raised my expectations. However, the food was served slowly, especially with a one-hour gap between the fifth fish dish and the sixth meat dish, which was excessively long. It seemed that people at the surrounding tables were also kept waiting and appeared restless. Out of boredom, I speculated various reasons for the slow service... perhaps the chef suddenly fell ill, or maybe the oven broke down, and so on. I was satisfied with the taste of each dish, but they were somewhat lukewarm, possibly due to the distance from the kitchen. In the end, the dinner, including dessert and coffee, took over three hours, and I returned to the room just before 23:00. Additionally, there was one person with a raw food allergy, but the raw fish and other ingredients were simply boiled without much creativity and reportedly lacked flavor. On the other hand, breakfast had a wide variety and was delicious. After returning home, I checked past reviews of the restaurant here, and there were several comments similar to ours about the slow service during dinner. Although the hotel had shown an intention to improve, it seems that no improvements have been made, which is disappointing.

    After a wonderful family trip

    Recently, I have only been using the lunch service, but this time, my family and I stayed for the first time in two and a half years at the end of the year. The scenery, cuisine, and hospitality were all outstanding, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It seems your popularity has fully returned. I will continue to use your services.

    Excellent. I would like to stay again.

    The Room was clean, and the view from the window was excellent. The food was delicious, and we were able to enjoy it at a leisurely pace, which pleased my accompanying family. If possible, it would be great if the Onsen water could be a little hotter for my daughter.

    Reassuring Hospitality

    It was a short stay with check-in after 3 PM and check-out at 9:30 AM the next day. However, I am grateful for the comfortable space and time provided. In the evening, my wife and I enjoyed a course menu of golden eye snapper and spiny lobster at the restaurant. It was a wonderful meal that reminded me of how French cuisine should be. My birthday is on the 23rd, and I was able to have a great birthday vacation. I would like to repeat my stay. Thanks to all the Hotel staff!
