    Dinner and breakfast...

Dinner and breakfast were both very delicious. I had imagined the open-air bath would be a bit larger, so that was slightly disappointing. However, since it was a sea-view Room, the view from the Room was wonderful.

The meals we had here were delicious both at breakfast and dinner, and we were very satisfied. The staff were courteous and attentive without being intrusive. There were also international staff members, and everyone served us pleasantly. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

The hotel offers a beautiful setting, allowing you to relax completely during your trip.

One night with two meals (breakfast and dinner) included. The food is delicious and features local specialty ingredients, letting you fully enjoy the charm of traveling in the area. The room is spacious and clean, and it’s very relaxing to sit on the balcony and enjoy the ocean view.

    The staff were wonderful.

Although the building itself is old, parts of the interior have been renovated, and we enjoyed the picture books and traditional toys that children can have fun with. In particular, the staff were wonderful during meals, and we were able to enjoy our food comfortably even with an elementary school child and an infant.

I was really looking forward to it.

We stayed in an ocean-view Room and chose the “Land’s Blessings” kaiseki, as well as the kaiseki featuring a comparison of Kumano beef sukiyaki and sashimi made with fresh fish from Katsuura Fishing Port. I have used IKYU for a long time and have always been satisfied, but this time there were many disappointing points. First, although it is about a 10-minute walk from the station, carrying a suitcase on a hot summer day was quite difficult, and I felt that Shuttle Service would have been very helpful. In the end, we took a taxi. When we entered the Room, there was an old-room smell. The air conditioner was not working well and the room temperature was 27.5°C. There was also a large temperature difference compared to the hallway, and the installed unit looked like it had been in use for over ten years. The outdoor unit on the balcony also showed noticeable rust. After contacting the front desk, a staff member came to our Room and it improved after just a few minutes of checking. It was described as “ocean view,” but what we could actually see was Nachi Bay—not the Pacific Ocean. The sashimi comparison from Katsuura Fishing Port that we were looking forward to consisted of four kinds of sashimi with only two slices each. As for tuna, there were only two types—bigeye tuna and albacore—and there was no bluefin tuna. The Onsen itself was pleasant, but the changing-room locker key did not open or close smoothly; it took about one minute to open after bathing. There was only one face towel and one bath towel provided in our Room, which was inconvenient for using them for hand-drying, washing up, and bathing altogether. It was also disappointing that no towels were available in the public bath area for guests to use freely. Although it was described as having beds, in reality it seemed like thick mattresses with futons placed on top rather than standard beds, which did not feel suitable for elderly guests getting in and out of bed.

Looking forward to enjoying an Onsen and meals on a 1-night, 2-day stay.

Used for a trip with three adults. A standard Japanese-style room with an ocean view; the futons were comfortable and we slept well. It didn’t feel cramped. Onsen water even comes out in the unit bath. The amenities were DHC, which was reassuring. Drinking water is provided in a dedicated bottle, and you go to the water dispenser to refill it. The Onsen has one indoor bath and one open-air bath. The temperature was just right, and what I especially liked was: the spacious, relaxing changing area, and in the open-air bath, you can hear the sound of the waves and catch the scent of pine needles carried on the breeze. The meals were excellent, bringing out the best of local ingredients, and paired well with local sake. Breakfast was equally satisfying. You could really feel how hard all the staff were working through their service. There were many international guests as well, but most had good manners and we didn’t have any unpleasant experiences. Some parts of the Facility felt a bit old, but not enough to bother us. If I have another chance, I’d like to stay again.

Please contact IKYU instead of the Hotel.

The food was excellent, but the Facilities are simply too outdated for an Accommodation. The toilet lid would not stay up, and even after requesting repairs I was told it could not be fixed. I was asked whether I wanted to change Rooms, but I declined because it felt like too much trouble. After that, I also found that the bidet seat was broken. The sink drain was rusty, and the visible plumbing had deteriorated badly. In addition, the Room walls were very dirty, which was disappointing. It also makes me question IKYU for listing a Hotel like this. I will never stay at Kamenoi Hotel again.

    Room with an Open-Air Bath

The Room with an open-air bath was very comfortable, and I was able to soak as many times as I liked at any time, which helped relieve travel fatigue. The bidet toilet seat was also comfortable. On the other hand, I felt this could become an even better Hotel with a few improvements. First, the shower faucet in the open-air bath was difficult to adjust for temperature and water flow, so it wasn’t very user-friendly. Also, because there is a protruding pillar inside the toilet room, the space feels tight, and when standing up I hit my head on the corner. For safety reasons, I hope you will consider measures such as warning signs or protective padding. Dinner offered many dishes, and the local cuisine was delicious—I was very satisfied. However, the dining time felt a bit short. Also, since we were not told the end time when we were seated, we only learned it partway through and had to rush a little. If this is explained at the beginning, guests can manage their time more easily. Overall, it was a satisfying stay. If these points are improved, I believe it will be an even more comfortable Hotel. Thank you very much.

    We stayed as a group...

We stayed as a group of five female cousins. The Room was spacious and comfortable. The meals were also satisfying. However, locking and unlocking the door took some effort, and although it was only a small step, we almost tripped a few times. Other than that, everything was very good. We would like to stay again.

    The Room was nice, but

We stayed two nights in a Deluxe Corner Suite with an open-air Onsen bath. The Room itself was spacious with a great view, but everything else was very disappointing. First, at check-in there was no welcome at the Hotel entrance, and no real greeting even after we went inside. We had to bring the cart to the entrance ourselves, load our luggage, and then check in at the counter. We were told the open-air bath in the Room could not be used 24 hours a day and had the same hours as the public bath area, which was disappointing for a Multiple Night Stay. There was also no explanation about emergency exits or similar information. After check-in we had to carry our luggage to the Room ourselves. The safe inside the walk-in closet was placed directly on the floor, making it difficult to set a code. There was no wash basin or chair for bathing in the open-air bath in the Room. My mother has difficulty walking and traveled with us, but accessibility within the property was insufficient. Even after checkout there was no help with luggage or any send-off. Overall, including during meals, we were extremely disappointed by how little hospitality we felt from staff. It made us realize how much hospitality can vary by Accommodation. We probably will not stay at this Accommodation again; what should have been an enjoyable trip ended up feeling disappointing instead. With proper hospitality training for staff, this could become a good Accommodation.

    A bit disappointing.

I booked through IKYU and was looking forward to my stay, especially since I was able to get a relatively good rate. However, the Room I was shown was completely different from the photos and had a very musty smell, as if it were old. That was very disappointing, and I regret not mentioning it at the time. The food was delicious, especially breakfast. Also, the service was great—everyone was kind.

    Highly satisfied.

The meals were delicious, and we were very satisfied. Both the dining area and the large public bath were spacious, so we could relax. It was a wonderful trip that made us hope to have another chance to visit Kumano. The washlet works well enough, but it feels a little outdated, so it might be better to replace it.

A Hotel working hard while undergoing renovations

The exterior looks old, so I wasn’t sure at first, but the renovated Room was clean. The large public bath hasn’t been renovated yet and felt dated. The meals weren’t luxurious, but they were tasty enough.

    The late-night tantanmen is amazing!

This is my second stay with the Kamenoi Hotel group, and both times the views from the front desk, dining area, and Room were amazing! The food was great in both taste and portion size, and the late-night tantanmen served at night was especially delicious. One thing: this time check-in was self-service via a machine, but no matter how many times I entered my name, it kept showing an error. Even after trying 4–5 times or more and failing each time, it was disappointing that staff kept telling me to enter my name again. In the end I was able to check in successfully, but if it doesn’t work after a few tries, I would have liked staff to respond promptly—for example by having me sit down while they handled it. I think it just happened by chance this time, so aside from that one point, it was a truly satisfying stay overall, including the lounge drink service! I’d love to stay again—thank you in advance.

    We stayed as a famil...

We stayed as a family of three with our high school-aged son. Despite the inconvenience caused by his dietary restrictions due to allergies, we were warmly supported by thoughtful meals and attentive service from the staff, which helped even our shy son relax and enjoy his time. I was a little frustrated (in a funny way) when he said the food here was better than my home cooking. As for the facilities, there were a few areas that felt slightly worn, but we could tell great care had been taken to provide cleanliness and comfort within what was possible, and we were more than satisfied. Having an open-air bath in our room and being able to fully enjoy the Onsen was especially wonderful. With our son soon becoming a university student, we’ve been feeling that family trips will be harder to take, so it meant a lot to be able to spend this time together at a relaxed pace—it became a great memory for us. Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories.

Ocean-view Accommodation with a view of Nachi Falls

Since the large public bath is called “Takimi-no-Yu” (Waterfall-View Bath), I went to the open-air bath early in the morning, but I couldn’t tell where the waterfall was. A staff member kindly showed me during breakfast. It’s a bit far away so it looks small, but I could clearly see Nachi Falls. Of course, it was also visible from my ocean-view Room, and I was very satisfied to be able to see both the beautiful sea and Nachi Falls at the same time. The meals were also very delicious, featuring tuna and other local specialties. It’s true that there are some minor issues, such as the Facility feeling old, but overall I think it’s a satisfying Accommodation.

Conveniently located near Nachi Falls, though some areas may need improvement.

Convenient accommodation near Nachi Falls. However, some areas, such as dusty corners in the room, show a lack of attention to detail. The most concerning issue was the room layout, which was very inconvenient. One of the two beds had a gap between it and the wall where pillows would fall through. Additionally, the narrow space between the beds made it difficult to walk. The room also had an unnecessarily large table and chairs that made the bed arrangement feel cramped. Without a luggage stall, finding space to place bags was challenging. While the room itself is spacious, poor placement of beds, desks, and chairs resulted in an overall sense of discomfort. Business hotels often manage to make even smaller rooms feel comfortable; perhaps studying their layout strategies could be beneficial. The meals were average; however, there are many appealing izakayas within walking distance of this hotel. It might be better to skip dinner at the hotel and enjoy dining out nearby instead. During meals at this hotel, staff frequently recommended drinks regardless of whether guests were already drinking something else or not ready for more—this should be improved by respecting guest timing rather than imposing recommendations on their schedule. Additionally, while it was stated during reservation that rice refills were free for dinner service, refills were not available as promised.

    I will visit again!

Both dinner and breakfast were extremely delicious and satisfying. The staff's service was also satisfactory. However, we would like to see improvements in the changing room lockers, as about half of the locks seem to be missing, which is not ideal. Additionally, it would be nice if the baths could alternate between men and women (perhaps this only applies during New Year's).

    Unfortunately.

The private open-air bath in the guest room was excellent. However, there were cobwebs on the restaurant lighting. Ordering drinks via QR code felt like a cheap izakaya experience.

    We stayed in a Japan...

We stayed in a Japanese-style room with beds as a family of four. The room was a renovated Japanese-style accommodation with two mattress-only beds, and the other two slept on futons, but the futons were too thin. Dinner was served in an old banquet hall with chairs, but there was no heating, so it was cold. In the morning, the pre-served rice had dried out over time. Some parts of the facility were renovated; the café corner was nice, and the food tasted good. The elderly male server was polite and kind. There were also late-night ramen noodles available, but since there was only one staff member handling it, long lines formed and there seemed to be operational issues. There are many stairs and steps which can be inconvenient for those with mobility issues; however, the ocean view from our room was beautiful.

    Used for a one-week ...

Used for a one-week trip to the Kii Peninsula. This is a review from a couple in their 40s who travel monthly. Previously stayed at Kamenoi Hotel in Oarai, Ibaraki Prefecture, and had a great experience, so decided to stay here. Overall, considering the price, it felt underwhelming. There were many international guests; perhaps this pricing works for them. It depends on the target audience, but during our trip, other accommodations at similar prices were better. - Service The staff worked hard to provide good service and made our stay pleasant—thank you! However, when part of the room cleaning was incomplete and an international staff member apologized profusely, we felt that a manager should have addressed the issue instead. - Room Previous guests' facility guide map was left behind; rubber bands used during meals were left on tables; yukata jackets were left on chairs; used towels and amenities remained in the bathroom; towels were found in the open-air bath area—all of which surprised us as it was our first time experiencing this. We requested a room change but ended up handling bedding sheets ourselves and refilling water for the open-air bath from scratch. The room itself was quite old-fashioned with unit-style indoor baths. - Bath There was no heating or circulation system for water retention in both indoor baths and private open-air baths within rooms. Usage times for private baths were limited (as explained), requiring us to refill water again each morning—a bit inconvenient. - Meals Both dinner and breakfast tasted good overall—especially breakfast stood out as delicious. - Amenities Comparable to those found in business hotels.

    Ocean View Accommodation

We stayed as a family of four, including parents and daughter. We reserved a corner suite with an open-air bath and stunning views. The scenery from the window was breathtaking, and enjoying the view while soaking in the private open-air bath was an unforgettable experience. Of course, we also thoroughly enjoyed the large public bath. The room was spacious and even equipped with ReFa hair dryers and curling irons, which made us very happy. Every meal was delicious, but above all, the perfectly cooked rice stood out—it was incredibly tasty! The late-night spicy tantan noodles were also absolutely delicious. We were completely satisfied!

Unfortunately, the comments written by others were also true.

I am writing this review after a long time because I don't want others to have a disappointing experience. We stayed in the Deluxe Corner Suite with Open-Air Bath (Ocean View) for 111,039 yen (37,013 yen × 3 people). It was a trip with my elderly mother and sister while my mother is still able to walk. In short, "not worth the price" and "the room needs repairs." Please read other reviews carefully before making your reservation decision. I also read other reviews but thought some people might be overly critical and took them lightly—lesson learned. [Meals: Tasty but like a diner] This hotel seems to offer rooms at various price ranges, but it appears that both inexpensive and expensive rooms come with the same meal options. In other words, you won't get meals that match the standard of accommodations priced in the high 30,000-yen range per person. I've uploaded photos for reference. The food tastes good; I believe the chefs are skilled and put in effort, but perhaps it's due to management decisions—the number of dishes is limited and compensated by portion size. Presentation is simple as well; it doesn't elevate your mood. If staying in a room priced around 10,000 yen per person, this meal would feel satisfactory; however, it does not match expectations for nearly 40,000 yen per person pricing. Breakfast was very basic but featured local rice so deliciously cooked that even someone like me who rarely eats rice had seconds. [Room: Spacious yet ruined by odor from central washroom] The room is indeed large and impressive with an open-air bath included; views from the window are also great. However, there’s an enclosed central area serving as both washroom (the only place with mirrors necessary for makeup) and toilet (making entry unavoidable), which has no windows or ventilation fans—and reeks of what seems like adhesive chemicals due possibly to poorly applied wallpaper peeling off walls (hopefully not formaldehyde). Immediate repairs are needed here. [Other Issues] While advertised as having drinks available at their lounge area—it turned out merely soft drinks sparsely placed within rundown surroundings—I decided against using them upon seeing this setup firsthand! Additionally baths were excessively hot initially without visible faucets nearby until asking reception staff revealed hidden taps beneath wooden box-like covers inside bathrooms themselves! Lastly despite overall spaciousness televisions provided felt disproportionately small relative overall scale interiors offered alongside awkward step-level differences leading into tatami-mat sections causing accidental falls despite careful attention beforehand thankfully affecting myself rather than elderly parent accompanying us during stay altogether!

    To Seiganto-ji Temple

I visited with my mother on a trip to Seiganto-ji Temple. Since we had a great experience at Kamenoi Hotel in Izu-Kogen, we chose Kamenoi Hotel again this time, but there were some disappointing points: The sashimi and meat at dinner had an unpleasant smell. The temperature of the indoor bath was too lukewarm. The building and Facility were old, which made noise noticeable and it felt cold. On the other hand, the staff's service and breakfast were very satisfying. Thank you very much!

    We used the accommod...

We used the accommodation for a celebratory trip for my parents' 77th and 80th birthdays. The room was a corner suite, which we had high expectations for, but there were several issues. Although we made a reservation for four people, only three yukata sashes were prepared. When we tried to contact the front desk via the in-room phone, it didn’t connect, so we had to call from our mobile phone to have someone come and fix it. Additionally, the living room light was flickering; although they said it was fixed during dinner, it remained unfixed throughout our stay. At bedtime, we also found that the lights in the open-air bath and balcony area could not be turned off, forcing us to sleep with them on. At checkout, a young woman at the front desk mentioned some compensation (less than one-tenth of our accommodation fee) due to these inconveniences. However, as this was a commemorative trip for us, an apology from an appropriate person would have been more meaningful than partial compensation. That said, I would like to express my gratitude to the young male staff member who served us during dinner; his polite and pleasant service left a great impression on us. The onsen facilities were excellent—both the public bath and especially the open-air bath in our room with its stunning view brought great satisfaction. I hope proper maintenance of guest rooms will be ensured moving forward.

    My Trip

This is my second visit to Nachikatsuura, and I chose Kaminoi Hotel for its convenient location and beautiful window views. Although I was initially disappointed with the room upon check-in, the manager kindly agreed to upgrade my room for an additional ¥6,000, allowing me to fully enjoy my 2-night stay at Kaminoi Hotel. By the way, the dinner was delicious.

    Excellent service!

The entire facility, including guest rooms, open-air baths, and the restaurant, was clean and excellent. Above all, the service was courteous, kind, and comfortable. During our Multiple Night Stay, we were guided to different seats in the restaurant each time, allowing us to enjoy the morning and evening ocean views outside the window. The meals were thoughtfully prepared to suit a Multiple Night Stay, making our stay truly enjoyable.
