    As a Kobe resident, ...

As a Kobe resident, I often visit private open-air baths at various Ryokan in Arima Onsen, but there are very few places that can match the Onsen and meals offered here. The craftsmanship is outstanding—bringing out the delicious flavors of local ingredients without overworking them or loudly advertising their origins. I wasn’t particularly impressed by some of the slightly flashy decor in parts of the Room, but if it were nearby, it’s a place I’d want to visit every month.

    This is an Accommoda...

This is an Accommodation I’d been curious about for a long time. From the photos, I expected it to feel much older, but while it may be old, it is very well maintained and so comfortable that you hardly notice its age. The open-air bath in the Room was spacious, the water was wonderful, and I was able to relax deeply. What I especially loved was the large public bath. Even when there’s an open-air bath in the Room, I don’t usually go to the large public bath much, but this one retained a charming sense of age—like an old-style therapeutic hot spring or traditional bathhouse—with the warmth of wood throughout. There were both hotter and cooler baths, and it felt fantastic. We also fully enjoyed meals made with Akita ingredients. Everything was delicious. Thank you very much.

It was absolutely wonderful, just as expected.

The large open-air bath in the Room was wonderful, and the cuisine was excellent, just as we had hoped. We were very satisfied and can see why so many guests return; it is an Accommodation we would like to visit again. The only disappointment was the hospitality during meals. While the staff at other tables were very attentive, our assigned staff member seemed inexperienced, and we noticed a gap in service quality. There were several moments when it was difficult for us to speak up—such as drink service during dinner, the timing of clearing dishes, and guidance on refills at breakfast. Since the food itself was so delicious, it felt especially unfortunate. Precisely because both the Room and the cuisine are truly outstanding, we believe this Accommodation could be even more perfect if all staff worked together to keep an eye on the entire dining area. We look forward to visiting again.

    For my father's birthday celebration

Once again, your excellent service and hospitality made my father and mother very happy. The food and the Onsen were outstanding, and this is without a doubt the best Accommodation in Akita. If I had to mention one thing, it seems they were disappointed that there was no raw fish served with the sashimi. We will definitely visit again!

    Relax and unwind.

For a first-time visit, having a Shuttle Service is truly appreciated. The Accommodation was tucked away deep in the mountains. Since my grandparents were from Fukushima, it felt nostalgic—like coming home. The large public bath had both lukewarm and hot baths, and it was so relaxing I could have stayed in for hours. In front of the open-air bath in the Room, a beautiful river flows by. Dinner felt a little light at first, but it turned out to be just the right amount. Breakfast, on the other hand, was very generous. The Room did have basic overnight amenities, but I wish there had been body cream. It’s an Accommodation that makes you want to return in a different season.

    I was able to relax.

At the end of a gravel road, we found a truly wonderful Accommodation. A spacious open terrace and a relaxing open-air bath. Soaking while watching the river flow and listening to birdsong was the best time. This is the perfect Accommodation for a quiet getaway.

    Wonderful facilities

I was satisfied with everything—the Onsen, the service, and the meals. Soaking in the Onsen while looking out over the Tamagawa River, I was able to enjoy a truly elegant and relaxing time. The only potential issue is that parts of the road to the Hotel are unpaved, so if you’re not confident driving, I recommend using the Hotel’s Shuttle Service. If there is no snowfall or rain, driving is not a problem at all.

    The Reviews were goo...

The Reviews were good, so we had high expectations, but there were many disappointing points. Breakfast was good, but dinner was disappointing. The appetizer lacked color, the sashimi was only a small amount of sea urchin, the meat was just two small pieces, and the final hot pot dish felt like something served on a group tour. The rice was sticky, and there were only two slices of iburigakko pickles. Overall, it was a very disappointing dinner. Above all, the staff member serving dinner called us “big brother” and “big sister,” which made it feel like we were at a bar rather than a hotel. We probably expected too much because Myo-no-Yu was so great.

    Exceptional hospitality

After finishing a round of golf in Akita City, we headed to the Accommodation. The moment we turned off the main road onto a narrow forest path, I felt a bit uneasy, but we arrived safely. A thunderstorm had just started, and the staff warmly welcomed us with umbrellas. Check-in was done in the reception room while enjoying a welcome drink (with snacks). The Room’s refrigerator was fully stocked with beverages, the open-air bath location was outstanding, and the amenities were excellent—the towels felt wonderfully soft. What surprised me most was the five-blade razor, which was very gentle on my skin. The meals offered many dishes (in easy-to-enjoy portions). We were told the head chef is from the Tohoku region, and everything was lightly seasoned and very refined. It truly was a relaxing and healing space—just as its name “Miyako Wasure” suggests. It became the best Accommodation of my life so far. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    Wonderful in every way.

I stayed here while visiting family in Akita. Unfortunately, the weather was poor and it rained all day. I parked at the roadside station parking lot, and they provided a Shuttle Service along the narrow mountain road to the Accommodation, so I arrived safely and with peace of mind. The Western-style Room was extremely comfortable. The Facility was practical, and I could enjoy fresh greenery through the large windows. Everything—from the open-air bath in the Room to the local cuisine and heartfelt hospitality—was wonderful, and I’m truly glad I made the trip out here. I visit around Lake Tazawa every year, and this stay became another great memory.

We had a very enjoyable stay.

I was surprised to find it truly deep in the mountains. The fresh greenery was beautiful, and I was able to relax at a leisurely pace. The hot spring water had a gentle sulfur scent and felt wonderful. All of the staff were smiling, which made me feel happy. The person who served us during the meal was very kind, and not only was the food delicious, but it also warmed my heart. It’s quite far so I can’t visit often, but I would definitely love to come again.

I had an amazing time surrounded by fresh greenery deep in the mountains.

The wonderful experience from my previous stay stayed with me, so I came back for the first time in several years. The Accommodation still felt amazing—blending into the great outdoors without being overly luxurious, while also being stylish and impeccably clean. I spent a relaxing time in the courtyard while admiring the beautiful fresh greenery, and it truly felt blissful. The private bath’s waterfall-style shower and the open-air bath attached to my Room were both fantastic, and I was able to unwind to my heart’s content. Kakunodate is about three hours from Tokyo, so if possible, I’d love to drop by again sometime—maybe bringing a friend along.

An accommodation that captures the very best of a Japanese Ryokan

From the point where the pavement ends, parts of the roadside have collapsed and there are spots where you can look straight down the cliff. With my heart pounding—“What if a car comes from the other direction?”—I continued along the mountain road until Miyakowasure finally appeared. It truly is a lone Accommodation deep in the mountains, a genuine hidden hot spring, yet its chic, refined exterior already hints at its high quality. In the lobby filled with Taisho-era romance, I chose draft beer as my welcome drink before heading to my Room. My Room was “Seoto.” The private open-air bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water was around 41°C—perfect for a long soak. There is also a reservable private open-air bath with a waterfall shower; it’s booked in 30-minute slots, but you can use it as many times as you like as long as it’s available. Dinner was served in Seoto’s dedicated private dining room, decorated with Gallé-style lamps and Lladró pieces. There wasn’t one single dish that stood out overwhelmingly, but everything was carefully prepared using seasonal local ingredients, and I was very satisfied. The highlight was breakfast: freshly cooked “Sakihokore” rice from an iron pot, hatahata fish, thick rolled omelet, yudofu (hot tofu), and kiritanpo hot pot—all served piping hot—and I could enjoy them at a relaxed pace. The staff’s hospitality—warm and not overly scripted—was excellent as well, exactly as described in the highly rated Reviews. I’d love to return during cherry blossom season or autumn foliage season.

It was a wonderful Onsen Accommodation surrounded by magnificent nature.

The Onsen Accommodation we reached with lingering snow all around was a memorable Ryokan. The 6 km unpaved municipal road leading up to the Accommodation is narrow and quite thrilling, and the fact that it’s not easy to arrive smoothly gave it a certain charm—personally, it became a fun memory. Inside, the décor reflects the owner’s taste, blending traditional Japanese styling with plenty of Western touches. It may divide opinions, but we felt it worked well. We were very satisfied with the hospitality of the male staff member who welcomed and guided us. The welcome drink, indoor Onsen bath, private open-air bath, and meals were all excellent. However, at dinner a female staff member brought dishes out one after another too quickly; since we wanted to enjoy both the food and drinks at a more relaxed pace, we felt rushed. We hope this can be improved by the kitchen team. Breakfast was also very good overall, but the after-meal coffee was far too weak and detracted from an otherwise great meal. We feel it would be better to offer higher-quality coffee. Thank you for the Onsen egg souvenir at departure and for covering our car wash fee—we truly appreciate it. Overall, thank you for giving us such a satisfying night’s stay.

    It was magical.

The staff service was the best of any Accommodation I have stayed at. The open-air bath in the Room was large enough to swim in while watching the snow, which was also deeply impressive. The cuisine, generously using local ingredients, felt luxurious precisely because it did not try to appear overly extravagant. This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again in a different season.

I’ll never forget soaking in the lying-down bath while gazing at the lingering snow.

I previously visited with my husband, and this time with a friend. The wonderful hospitality and delicious cuisine were just as exceptional as before, making this another truly satisfying stay. The cypress indoor bath in the Room was very relaxing, and the large open-air bath can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. The lukewarm reclining bath in particular was outstanding—so soothing that I found myself staying in far longer than planned while taking in the scenery with lingering snow. My friend loved it as well and even said, “Next time I want to come with my husband.” As for me, I hope to return someday during cherry blossom season.

A Memorable Return Stay with Snowy Views and an In-Room Bath

The private open-air Onsen and the in-Room bath were both wonderful—especially the large bath in the Room and the view from it, which left a lasting impression. It can feel a little cold in winter, but bathing while looking out at the snowy scenery was truly beautiful, and we were able to enjoy a very special time. We also loved the kotatsu, and it allowed us to relax completely throughout our stay. We are sincerely grateful for all of your staff’s kindness. In fact, on both occasions we accidentally left something behind in the Room at check-out, but each time you found it right away and a staff member drove after us to deliver it before we reached the station. This time in particular, despite heavy snow and difficult road conditions, your support meant so much to us—we were truly thankful and deeply moved. It was a little disappointing that this time we could only make a Reservation for the same type of Room as last time, but we would love to visit again and stay in a different Room next time. We look forward to visiting again. Thank you very much.

It felt like entering another world after passing through the thrilling mountain path. The long road was not too tiring this season, as the autumn leaves were beautiful (though I still felt relieved upon arrival). The room was cozy and well-organized, with a private bath that offered both spaciousness and stunning views—the best I've experienced so far. Personally, I enjoyed the indoor bath the most (probably because I could have it all to myself, which seems likely for others too). The meals allowed us to savor local ingredients, and the staff provided detailed explanations about each dish, making every bite enjoyable. A place where rice and vegetables taste this good is undoubtedly a great accommodation. It has become a place I'd love to visit again.

    Attentive and thoughtful service

One night stay. From check-in, the hospitality was excellent. I had informed them in advance that I wasn't fond of sashimi, and they kindly adjusted the menu, replacing all fish dishes with alternative options. It felt like a "great accommodation" from the start. The room was average. It would have been nice if there were a sink inside the toilet area, but no other complaints. The private open-air onsen was fantastic. The view and chairs on the deck were great too. Although it was cold outside, sitting with a warm body and enjoying beer felt like heaven! The water quality of the onsen was excellent—I ended up soaking five times before checkout. Dinner reached an impressive level for an onsen accommodation. The wide selection of wine was a plus. The private open-air bath for rent was spacious and included features like waterfall showers—great atmosphere overall. Breakfast had quite a few egg dishes; it seemed average to me. After checkout, they saw us off to our car with thoughtful gestures including souvenirs and small tokens of appreciation—a parade of kindness! Definitely planning to return; I made another reservation at Myo-no-Yu right after checking out. Looking forward to visiting again! Thank you!

An Onsen Accommodation with Excellent Facilities and Services

A cozy onsen accommodation primarily catering to individuals or small groups. Please inform us of your arrival time in advance if using a rental car. Upon arrival, staff will greet you with a warm smile at the parking lot (they might have waited for quite some time in the cold—our apologies!). After confirming your name, they will assist with your luggage and guide you to the reception while explaining about the hot spring source. Guest registration is completed in a lounge area where you can also choose a welcome drink—draft beer was available. The accompanying snacks like smoked pickles & cheese, vinegared octopus & capers were absolutely delicious, making us forget our long journey from Nagoya to Hanamaki and Akita. The interior decor combines Rococo style with touches of Akita's charm, meticulously maintained and sparkling clean throughout. The private open-air bath and large communal bath are located separately, enhancing the onsen experience. While retaining the atmosphere of a traditional healing retreat, it offers modern cleanliness—a quintessential onsen accommodation that truly impresses. Meals feature local specialties such as Yurigyu beef, Hinai chicken, Inaniwa udon noodles, hatahata fish, mountain vegetables, and mushrooms—all beautifully presented in exquisite kabazaiku craftware dishes that are visually satisfying even before tasting. A wide selection of local sake is also available. Friendly staff serving meals provided explanations and engaging conversations during dinner and breakfast—making both meals delightful experiences filled with happiness. Access is convenient: approximately 2 hours by rental car from Hanamaki Airport via Tohoku Expressway (speed limit 120 km/h), National Route 46, and forest roads (possibly Tohoku Electric Power service roads). During autumn foliage season, vibrant red-orange-yellow mountain views are breathtaking along the way! Within a 30-minute drive are popular sightseeing spots like Kakunodate Samurai District or Dakigaeri Gorge. P.S.: Upon departure from the accommodation’s parking lot after being seen off by staff members who kindly informed us that "the landlady felt sorry about mud splashes caused by rain" had left behind funds for car washing expenses! This heartfelt gesture reflects their exceptional hospitality until our very last moment here—a truly unforgettable stay deserving immense gratitude!

An accommodation for a quality and luxurious stay

Miyawasure was an accommodation I had always wanted to visit. The open-air bath in the room had the perfect temperature, and I was soothed by the natural scents and sounds. I was impressed by how even fallen leaves, arranged like art, were carefully maintained. Experience the extraordinary.

The journey through the narrow mountain path was exciting. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with beer, which was delightful. A lovely foreign staff member provided various guidance. Although they seemed to be a newcomer and worked very hard, their speech was difficult to understand at times, requiring us to ask for clarification repeatedly, which made us feel apologetic and slightly tired. For first-time visitors, it might be better if an experienced staff member handled the explanations. It felt a bit disappointing as we wondered if this was due to choosing a less expensive plan. The room had only one sofa suitable for relaxing, making it feel cramped for us—perhaps this is also due to the plan difference. The meals were all deliciously prepared and enjoyable. The attentiveness of the Japanese female staff in charge of dining was truly remarkable and appreciated. The temperature of the private open-air bath in our room was perfectly maintained, allowing us to enjoy it multiple times comfortably. While there were some concerns considering this is a luxury accommodation, its location is outstanding and offers an extraordinary experience away from daily life. Thank you very much!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Akita. The meals, Dakigaeri Gorge, the Onsen, the warmth of the people, and above all, the lush greenery and tranquility made for wonderful memories, including the unpaved road leading to the accommodation. The staff's kind attentiveness was truly touching. I am already looking forward to visiting again in a different season.
