    We stayed here the night before our visit to Izumo Taisha Shrine.

    We stayed here as a couple, and the service was excellent in every way—an outstanding Ryokan. The meals were also delicious, and we were very satisfied. When we visit Shimane again, we would love to stay here.

    I’m glad I chose Minami.

    It was my first time visiting Tamatsukuri Onsen, so I wasn’t sure which Accommodation to choose, but I’m glad I stayed at Minami. We booked the Minami Premium Suite (70 m²), and it was very spacious and comfortable. On the IKYU site, the meal details were described only as “standard,” and since it is a Ryokan yet dinner was served at a restaurant rather than in-room, I felt a little uneasy at first. However, at Restaurant Sansuiso they prepared a private room for us, and we enjoyed a Japanese-Western kaiseki course featuring mainly Shimane ingredients. For the main dish, we could choose abalone or steak, and everything was delicious. The only reason I rated the Room 4 out of 5 is that the bed and pillow didn’t quite suit me. That said, it’s probably difficult to provide bedding that fits everyone perfectly.

    Will you see me off...?

    The Facility inside the property was very good, and the meals were satisfactory. However, I’m not sure if it was because of the rain, but the outdoor Shuttle Service was extremely curt, and none of the male staff even smiled. Both on arrival and departure, there was no sign of consideration. I probably won’t use it again. That’s all.

    Family Trip

    The Ryokan had an antique feel, but the baths were not free-flowing hot spring water. Dinner was served individually, which was nice, but breakfast was disappointing because each item was cold. It would have been great if there had been some evening events to enjoy the night a bit more. The Ryokan staff parked the car and had it ready at departure, but the spacing between guests’ cars was very tight; I worried about scratches and contact with the car next to mine when getting in.

    In the calm atmosphere of Tamatsukuri Onsen, we were able to spend a relaxing time as a family. The warm hospitality of all the staff left a strong impression, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. Each dish was carefully prepared and delicious, allowing us to fully enjoy seasonal flavors. When we mentioned that my mother does not eat meat, you kindly changed her meal to a clam hot pot. Our whole family was truly touched by your thoughtful consideration. It tasted wonderful and became one of the most memorable dishes of our trip. The Onsen was also very soothing; the soft water typical of Tamatsukuri Onsen helped us unwind and slowly relieve our everyday fatigue. Thanks to you, it was a wonderful stay that will remain a cherished family memory. We sincerely appreciate your warm hospitality. When we visit Tamatsukuri Onsen again, we would love to stay with you again.

    The Onsen was excellent.

    The Shuttle Service at check-in and check-out was excellent. I have often stayed at Accommodations where no one came out even after I arrived, so I truly felt this was an Accommodation with genuine hospitality. The Onsen was wonderful, and I was especially happy with the premium lounge. With so many Accommodations to choose from, I wasn’t sure where to go, but I’m glad I chose to stay here. Thank you for taking such good care of me.

    This is our second stay with my daughter.

    I had a relaxing time. The meals at Minami-san's accommodation are absolutely delicious, and I love them. The dinner was not only visually appealing but also incredibly tasty, leaving me very satisfied. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, and the miso soup with Shijimi clams from Lake Shinji was especially delightful! The staff's service was very polite and made me feel at ease. This time, I arrived in the evening, so perhaps because it was late, there was no welcome drink service like last time, which was a bit disappointing. Next time, I plan to arrive earlier to explore the surroundings of the accommodation and enjoy my stay even more. Thank you very much!

    Disappointing dining service

    On the recommendation of a friend from Shimane, I visited Tamatsukuri Onsen for the first time. The charm of the town and the elegance of the Ryokan were wonderful, making it a very relaxing and pleasant stay overall. With an IKYU rating of 4.7 or higher, my expectations may have been elevated, but I was deeply disappointed by the service at the dining area. It became so stressful to continue dining that we decided to leave midway through our meal. This was the first time both my husband and I have ever left a meal halfway through, whether at home or while dining out. It seems there are private rooms available, so perhaps service might differ in those settings or other dining areas. Unless changes are made—such as offering room-only options without meals or allowing guests to choose their preferred dining area—it would be difficult for me to recommend this place to others. After leaving, staff found us in the lounge and promptly apologized for what had happened; while I appreciated their swift response, it could not erase my impression of this sad experience during our stay.

    Truly excellent

    It was an excellent accommodation. The food was very delicious. The service and hospitality were top-notch, and the hot spring quality was gentle on the skin and warming. The room's bed and pillows were luxurious items that healed the body. It is well worth the price.

    The crab was exquisite.

    "Enjoy Winter Delicacies! Crab Feast for Full Satisfaction" course was reserved. Starting with one snow crab, followed by snow crab hot pot and grilled snow crab, the course truly lived up to its title with an abundance of crab dishes. Each preparation was filled with sweet and flavorful crab meat, making it absolutely delicious. The grilled crab was especially outstanding; being steamed before grilling enhanced its sweetness. Although peeling the shells was a bit of work, I thoroughly enjoyed the pure taste of the crab. However, eating crabs takes time, and initially, the serving pace felt rushed. We requested our server to adjust to our pace midway through the meal, which they kindly accommodated—this was very helpful. Since eating speed varies from person to person and crabs are particularly time-consuming to eat, it might be nice if staff could ask about preferred serving speed at the beginning. Additionally, as hands get sticky while eating crabs, having finger bowls with lemon would have been appreciated. Aside from the food experience, my favorite feature in the room was a reclining cushion-like chair placed on top of the sofa—it could be moved anywhere without slipping and was incredibly convenient. The footbath and handbath in the courtyard on the first floor were as relaxing as taking a full bath. At breakfast venues, I noticed pushcarts designed for elderly guests to place their trays on—a thoughtful touch. There were also chairs for assisted bathing in public baths; such attention towards elderly guests is commendable. The variety of teas available at the tea lounge on the first floor were delightful as well. Breakfast offered a wide selection of dishes—all delicious! Some minor disappointments included: no humidifier or air purifier in our room; mismatched heights between chairs and washbasins in public baths made them slightly inconvenient; not being able to enjoy tea after visiting early morning baths because tea lounges weren’t open yet; towels placed closer outside bath exits would have been more convenient; having clocks inside saunas would be helpful too. While choosing your own yukata is great fun here—having one or two pre-placed options within rooms might save trips back-and-forth unnecessarily unless needed later-on personally-speaking! This accommodation left me wanting another visit during next year’s Crab Season!

    I was able to show gratitude to my parents.

    We stayed for two nights, and as I was traveling with my mother who has difficulty walking, we arrived earlier than planned due to the crowds influenced by the morning drama and being unable to tour Matsue City. However, we were warmly welcomed upon arrival, which was a great help. Both the guest room and Onsen deeply impressed my mother, and I truly felt it was worth bringing her along. The staff in charge of our meals were kind, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable stay. The meal content was also satisfying, and we were able to enjoy everything until the very end.

    It was a very warm and welcoming experience.

    From the warm welcome upon arrival to the check-in process, the staff's service was exceptionally pleasant. The meals were absolutely delicious. The dishes, simple yet rich in flavor from the broth, were so good that I even finished the soup from the hot pot. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, and I ended up eating more than I intended. The Room and bath were spacious, and the lounge was very comfortable as well. A great selection of drinks, light snacks, and appetizers was available in the lounge, allowing for a relaxing time. I would love to stay here again!

    The cuisine was filled with thoughtfulness, unlike chain Ryokans. The Room's design also had a unique charm and provided a sense of calm, different from the standard modern styles. The attentive service by the staff reflected the dignity of a long-established Ryokan. I will visit again. Thank you very much.

    Thank you for a wonderful night.

    This was my second stay after several decades, and this time I stayed at the Minami Premium. I was amazed by the spacious room and facilities, including an in-room onsen bath and a leg massage device, which allowed me to have a very fulfilling time. I also enjoyed using the Premium Club. The variety of dishes at dinner and the breakfast buffet left me completely satisfied. Additionally, I am grateful to the staff for their friendly smiles and kind, attentive service. If given the opportunity, I would love to stay here again.

    Unchanging Spirit of Hospitality

    The meals, staff service, and cleanliness were all highly satisfactory. I was impressed to see the evolution with the addition of the Premium Club "Tenchi" and several types of tea with described benefits available in the evening and morning, which were not there during my previous stay. Unfortunately, I was too full after dinner to visit "Tenchi," but I look forward to experiencing it next time. It's amazing how this long-established accommodation continues to evolve without resting on its laurels.

    We visited as part of our golden wedding anniversary trip.

    We visited for the first time in 18 years to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. Thank you very much for the heartfelt hospitality. The newly added annex allowed us to spend a very pleasant time, and my wife was extremely delighted. The panoramic bath was wonderful, offering a breathtaking view of Lake Shinji in the distance, which is truly worth seeing. The food, including Matsuba crab, was exceptionally delicious. Additionally, the attentive service from all the staff left a great impression on us. We hope to visit again during cherry blossom season next time. Thank you very much!

    The open-air bath an...

    The open-air bath and balcony in the room were excellent. Since the public open-air bath is on the floor above, staying in the room was sufficient without needing to go there. However, as guests from other buildings also use the rooftop open-air bath, during meal times, the elevator became crowded, and there were several occasions when I had to wait for another one.

    Service quality may vary depending on the staff.

    The room, Onsen, and meals met our expectations. However, the quality of service varied greatly depending on the staff. The response from the person we spoke to over the phone prior to our stay was completely different from that of the receptionist, who was also quite rude. Additionally, a new Japanese staff member in charge of guiding us provided almost no explanation and disappeared midway through assisting us, which made our stay feel uncertain. On the other hand, the dining staff and those who saw us off at departure—including new foreign staff—were excellent. Overall, we were able to relax in the Onsen and were satisfied with our stay.

    The meals are excellent!!

    I was pleasantly surprised to find crab on the menu. The Shimane beef was also incredibly delicious. I didn’t expect this accommodation to take such pride in its cuisine. The lounge was comfortable, but the public bath wasn’t very spacious and felt a bit lacking.

    I stayed here during my first visit to Izumo Taisha. This large-scale ryokan offers excellent facilities, but what stood out the most was the warm and attentive service from the staff, making my stay very comfortable. I stayed in a room with an open-air bath, and the onsen with natural hot spring water from Tamatsukuri Onsen was incredibly relaxing. I enjoyed soaking in the private bath multiple times and felt no need to visit the public bath. Dinner was served in a private dining room, and every dish was delicious with portions sufficient even for men. Breakfast was a buffet with an extensive variety of dishes—so many that it was impossible to try them all—and everything tasted great. The rice made from Nita-mai was especially outstanding, and I would love to meet again the skilled staff member who served it so perfectly. Overall, this accommodation offers high satisfaction thanks to its wonderful staff who ensure a relaxing and pleasant stay. Highly recommended!

    Enjoy your stay with your baby.

    Stayed at Accommodation "Kumo no Ne" with a 5-month-old baby. The room layout was different from the photos, featuring separate spaces for a bedroom, Japanese-style room, and dining area (it seemed like two rooms were combined into one). After nursing, we could put the baby to sleep in the darkened Japanese-style room while we relaxed in another space. The attached open-air bath had a compact washing area that seemed suitable for limiting movement of active children. The floor was tiled, so bringing a mat is recommended. The cleanliness was impeccable and very well-maintained. The Onsen temperature can be adjusted by adding water to the natural hot spring flow, and there was a thermometer provided for easy adjustment. For diaper disposal, they provided a dedicated lidded trash bin upon consultation during check-in. We used both dinner and breakfast services; however, we placed our baby on an improvised bed made by putting two chairs together—this might feel unstable for babies who roll over frequently. For babies who can sit up, high chairs are available without issue. We also visited the premium lounge but recommend using a baby carrier as it’s more of an adult-oriented space designed for relaxation. As adults' feedback: this accommodation exceeded expectations! Dinner was delicious with great drinks—a perfect place to unwind from daily stress. For dinner options: grilled dishes included meat or abalone among others (I forgot one option). I chose abalone but later thought meat might have offered more variety since sashimi already included abalone slices. The Onsen felt silky yet moisturizing—a truly pleasant experience! However, note that you can see neighboring rooms through shoji screens near the attached bath; overlapping them provides privacy. Breakfast featured mainly Japanese cuisine with local ingredients and delicacies served in calm settings—the rice ("Nitamai") stood out with its sweetness and crispy edges being particularly delightful! Side dishes were abundant & flavorful—simply excellent overall! Service staff provided thorough explanations & guidance ensuring comfort throughout our stay without any worries. One minor downside: terrace views faced other accommodations directly where greetings like “hello” could occur—not ideal scenery-wise unfortunately...

    I used a blanket during dinner, and the next morning at breakfast, the staff kindly asked if I would like a blanket again. Sharing customer preferences among staff like this is truly exceptional and deeply impressed me. The lounge was also well-equipped and provided a relaxing space. I would love to visit again!

    It was a blissful time.

    The staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and thoughtful. This trip was to pray for good connections, and we were blessed with the warmth of human connection. We enjoyed a private dining experience with delicious mountain and sea delicacies at a leisurely pace—truly a feast for both the eyes and palate. The lounge "Tenchi" was wonderful, and the footbath and handbath at the front desk provided great relaxation.

    It was a trip planned at the last minute to celebrate our wedding anniversary and 60th birthday. We had heard from many people that "Kasuien Minami" is the place to stay when visiting Tamatsukuri Onsen, and it truly lived up to its reputation. From the hospitality of the staff to the room, onsen, and meals, everything exceeded our expectations at this accommodation. We would love to visit again!

    It was a great accommodation.

    I stayed here alone during a business trip to Yonago. While many of the staff seemed to be beginners, especially the foreign staff were very earnest and left a good impression. I thought it was an excellent Ryokan. The seasoning of the meals lacked some delicacy. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety, but it was slightly disappointing. Overall, the food was above average and tasty, but it might not meet high expectations based on reviews. The room was clean and comfortable. I appreciated the delicious tea and sweets provided. The private bath in the room was also a natural hot spring, which was very satisfying. Even though I stayed alone, the cleanliness of the facility and the attentive service from the staff made my stay pleasant and without any complaints.
