    Disappointing.

    Mandarin Oriental Hotel has been my most frequently used accommodation in Tokyo, but I am disappointed. The accommodation plan was for a Skytree View, but upon entering the room, all I could see were Tokyo Station and Otemachi buildings. The front desk made no comment about the room being different from the plan. As a Diamond member, I inquired about late check-out availability and was told it was fully booked; however, checking on IKYU.com showed that rooms were indeed available. Regarding amenities, I assumed there would be a brush provided and did not bring one myself, but surprisingly there wasn’t any. Even during turndown service, it wasn’t replenished—perhaps their policy has changed? Previously, there was warm hospitality starting from the entrance on the first floor. On one occasion, they even addressed me by name before I introduced myself—it left quite an impression! In comparison to that experience, this time felt impersonal and lacked warmth. I don’t think I will stay here again.

    It was great to stay at the accommodation.

    The room was clean, featured high-quality amenities, and offered a great view, ensuring a restful sleep. Dinner at SENSE was excellent with attentive service from the staff and delicious dishes. Breakfast at KESHIKI included unexpected changes like uni instead of crab for the eggs benedict and orange juice instead of vegetable juice. Despite requesting Japanese multiple times, all staff continued to speak in English, which was disappointing. At the spa, I was informed that the dry sauna was unavailable and the jacuzzi's water quality made it unsuitable for use, which was unfortunate as I had been looking forward to it. Nevertheless, this summer stay became a memorable experience with both positive highlights and some disappointments.

    Relax and Unwind

    The check-in process was smooth with attentive service, and all the staff had wonderful smiles. In the evening, I enjoyed a meal in the lounge while admiring the night view, and the next morning, I indulged in a relaxing bath at the SPA. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of egg dishes to choose from, making it fun to decide. Next time, I might go for ramen or chawanmushi. The atmosphere at the breakfast venue was pleasant. The shower room in my Room was slightly inconvenient to use, and it was disappointing that there wasn’t a hairbrush or comb among the amenities. Later on, I learned that hairbrushes are only provided upon request—I wish I had known earlier. One of my family members celebrated their birthday during our stay, and we truly appreciated your thoughtful gesture for them. Throughout our visit, we were impressed by the staff’s exceptional hospitality and were able to enjoy a very relaxing stay. As expected from a 5-star Hotel! It also brought me joy to experience the same delightful aroma (Aromatherapy Associates) as Hong Kong’s Mandarin Hotel after such a long time.

    The best 5-star Hotel in Nihonbashi

    Located in Nihonbashi, offering exceptional service. It was my first trip to Tokyo in six months, and I had a very relaxing stay. I flew from Centrair to Haneda, and the access was convenient. The view from the Room was amazing, with even Mount Fuji visible. Above all, I was deeply impressed by the warm and attentive service of the Hotel staff. I also enjoyed using the gym and morning spa Facility. Breakfast was delicious as well. Mandarin Oriental is renowned worldwide, but Tokyo truly has a special charm—it met all my expectations. I look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you very much!

    We visited for our daughter's birthday party.

    There was an accident before check-in, but it turned out to be a wonderful Hotel that made us feel it was all worth it. My daughter and I are talking about how nice it would be to visit every year on my birthday. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    Top-Class Hospitality

    I have stayed here several times, and this time was the best experience. I greatly appreciated the thoughtful bathroom amenities provided for my family member with mobility issues. The bedding was top-notch, ranking among the best of any accommodation I’ve recently stayed at, allowing me to sleep soundly from the very first night. This hotel becomes even more appealing the longer you stay.

    For a Wonderful Anniversary

    We stayed here for our 1st anniversary. The Corner King Room was very spacious, and the night view from the 36th floor was breathtaking. The room had a fruit platter with a congratulatory message, along with tea and cookies, which added to the excellent service. I was deeply impressed when I stayed here for my graduation trip in high school, and once again, the amazing hospitality of the staff made this anniversary truly unforgettable!

    It was a disappointing stay.

    This was my first stay at this accommodation. I usually use a similar hotel in another location, but this time I chose the highly-rated Mandarin due to business in Nihonbashi. However, as stated in the title, it was disappointing. At the breakfast buffet, the sauce for my companion's main dish was incorrect (we ordered the same dish, but the sauce color was clearly different). The staff did not notice until we pointed it out and simply acknowledged their mistake when informed. Even after requesting a new sauce, it never arrived before we finished eating, so we gave up and returned to our room. Additionally, when selecting our main dishes, I asked if there were any eggs available at the buffet and was told there were none. However, upon checking the buffet corner myself later on, I found items like onsen eggs available. Both incidents involved foreign staff members who seemed unable to fully understand Japanese; if that is the case, they should call another staff member for assistance. The wet area of our room felt cramped and inconvenient to use. There was no partition between the sink and bath area; moreover, since the toilet shared this space as well, it could not be used simultaneously by two people. In addition—and this might only apply to our room—the toilet door appeared warped and always left a gap open which made using it uncomfortable (this likely requires repair). Sanitary bags provided in an amenity drawer were thin paper ones that felt unreliable; they also remained untouched during turndown service instead of being replaced or tidied up properly afterward—how do other female guests manage? Are they discarding them into regular trash bins? If avoiding sanitary boxes is intentional policy here then at least provide durable plastic bags instead while ensuring these are cleared during turndown services—paper bags are unacceptable. On positive notes: bell service personnel along with cleaning staff exuded warmth alongside exceptional politeness throughout interactions; complimentary mineral water bottles within rooms paired nicely alongside delicious wagashi treats post-turndown sessions too! Lastly—a gourmet shop located downstairs offered convenient takeaway options ranging across sandwiches/breads/salads alike! Despite such highlights though—the overall experience fell short enough whereby returning again feels unlikely altogether unfortunately…

    Truly a five-star experience.

    The large floor-to-ceiling window offered an incredible view of the cityscape. Relaxing on the couch while enjoying the night view felt luxurious and truly soothing. Every piece of furniture was high-end, providing a sense of extraordinary comfort. The pleasant fragrance throughout the property added to the overall experience. However, it was disappointing that some amenities were not properly prepared. There were no brushes provided, so I had to request one later. (The spot where brushes seemed to be originally placed was completely empty.) Additionally, despite staying as a pair, there was only one body towel and one packet of bath salts provided. I wasn’t sure if this was intentional or not. While I believe they would have brought more upon request, it seemed like staff might have been short-handed and it could take time, so I decided not to ask further.

    A Wonderful Stay

    I visited after a long time. At check-in, the staff provided exceptionally courteous service and handled the process very quickly, which left me impressed. This time, perhaps in celebration of the 20th anniversary, there was a welcome drink and sweets corner set up near the reception area. They offered sake, mocktails, chocolates, and Shine Muscat grapes. I tried a mocktail and two types of sweets; both were absolutely delicious. The Room was as wonderful as before with excellent facilities and thoughtful amenities that made my stay very comfortable. The bathtub is particularly deep, allowing for a relaxing bath time which I really enjoyed. Including the washing area, it’s quite spacious but might require some caution as it can be slightly slippery. During this visit, the staff who came for turndown service left a lasting impression with their exceptional care. They were polite yet efficient and paid attention to replenishing any missing items thoughtfully—I truly appreciated their consideration. As for breakfast, the main menu had changed this time around which added an element of excitement in choosing dishes—it made me feel happy from early morning! The half-buffet selection was impressive too; especially the variety of pastries exceeded expectations. This is definitely a Hotel I would love to visit again someday.     Stayed for two conse...

    Stayed for two consecutive weeks, and from valet parking to check-in and in-room dining, the hospitality was consistently excellent. While there were many inbound guests, the room was very quiet, allowing for a relaxing stay. This Hotel stands out among the international hotels in this area. Looking forward to staying again soon.     Enjoy a Wonderful Hotel Experience at M. Oriental Tokyo

    I stayed at this accommodation several years ago and have since used hotels of a similar class. This time, after a long while, I stayed here again and felt that everything about it was exceptional compared to other hotels. The access to the subway was convenient, and the proximity made it very easy for us as seniors. The bathroom and shower were user-friendly, the room layout and views from the high floors were breathtaking, and the staff provided incredibly kind and excellent service. Years ago, I learned that M Oriental Hotel in Bangkok had been ranked No.1 in global hotel rankings for five consecutive years. I immediately flew to Thailand to stay there. Surrounded by an amazing tropical atmosphere with wonderful rooms and pools, what stood out most was the kindness of all their staff members. Their initiative of dedicating one day each year to open up the hotel for all staff members and their families left a deep impression on me. This tradition seems to have been passed down even now at M Oriental Hotel Tokyo, which became evident during my stay here. I look forward to staying again next time. Thank you very much!

    The hospitality is exceptional.

    I visited to spend some relaxing time with my daughter, a first-year working professional in Tokyo. Since it was our 30th wedding anniversary, I mentioned it, and they upgraded us from the Premier King Suite to the Oriental Suite and even prepared a lovely cake for us. Moving from the Room to the gym or spa was convenient as we could go in loungewear or bathrobes. The free wear rental was very helpful. It would be even better if shoe rentals were available too. For dinner, we used in-room dining and enjoyed a deliciously simmered curry. The body treatment was also very relaxing, allowing us to fully enjoy our staycation.

    It was the best birthday celebration ever.

    I stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my birthday. The hotel exudes a refined sense of Oriental charm, with stunning views from the lobby and room. The staff's service level was exceptionally high, allowing me to have a wonderful time. My room was upgraded, and all the furniture, fabrics, and linens were of excellent quality with perfect maintenance. The cake provided as part of the celebration was delicious. The restaurant offered dishes that were all exquisite, accompanied by very attentive service. Although the spa facility is not large, it offers great views, is clean, and has excellent staff support. I took a stroll around the area before leaving and found Nihonbashi to be a calm location conveniently close to Tokyo Station. It turned out to be a very satisfying birthday celebration.     Its stately elegance is wonderful.

    Spectacular views and binoculars, a luxurious Room and bath, morning spa and sauna, 24-hour room service, and more. Some of these were not available during the COVID-19 period, so we were able to enjoy a truly luxurious experience. For breakfast, you choose a main dish and then enjoy the buffet. The shijimi clam miso soup was especially outstanding, along with delicate Japanese dishes and rice accompaniments; Western options including three kinds of smoked items; piping-hot shumai; salads; fruit; muesli; juices; and a wide variety of carefully prepared breads. I hope we can visit again next year. As an IKYU Diamond member with early check-in, I have requested it every time—but this was the first time it was granted. Thank you very much!

    There are things you can only understand by staying at the accommodation.

    I had heard of the Hotel's great reputation before, but since I never had any specific reason to visit the Nihonbashi or Kanda area, I hadn't experienced it until now. This time, I decided to take the plunge and visit. As I walked around, I noticed familiar buildings like the Bank of Japan, highlighting how significant this location is in Japan. At check-in, a staff member offered me an incredibly spacious Room at a very reasonable rate. I decided to take up their offer and was delighted with a Room far exceeding my expectations where I could fully relax. Feeling tired that evening, I opted for room service (in-room dining). The standout dish was a plate of steamed vegetables—an unexpectedly rich and flavorful experience in such an urban setting. A staff member from Tunisia (North Africa) kindly delivered grapes to my Room, and another from the Philippines who prepared my meal engaged in friendly conversations with me. Their warmth made me feel at ease. The breakfast buffet the next morning was also exceptionally delicious; however, its variety led me to overindulge. This stay taught me that while high-ranking Hotels can be enjoyable even with smaller Rooms, staying in a spacious Room truly allows you to appreciate their full value.

    We enjoyed dining at the restaurant with my daughter and her child. The service was provided at an appropriate distance, allowing us to relax and enjoy our meal even with a 3-year-old. Pajamas were delivered to the Room, and they were just the right size. The room temperature was comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. However, I noticed that the bathtub faucet did not completely stop dripping, which concerned me. I forgot to mention this during checkout—my apologies. Thank you for a comfortable stay!

    Something different from the usual

    Is it due to a staff shortage? Unlike usual, the response to our requests was slow. I ordered a kid's meal through room service (as my grandchild came to visit us in the hotel room). About 40 minutes after placing the order, I received a call confirming that adults cannot order kids' meals. After explaining the situation, they understood and allowed me to place the order. At the same time, I also ordered dessert cake and ice cream. However, these were brought to our room more than an hour later—over 1 hour and 30 minutes from when we initially placed the order. By then, my grandchild had fallen asleep and couldn’t eat. We have stayed here several times before and were always impressed by how quickly they responded—even for requests that might seem unreasonable. Whenever we asked for something, they would respond with "Of course," in such a professional manner that it made us feel grateful. This hotel has always been our best accommodation experience so far, which is why this time was disappointing. I hope this won’t happen again next time. We want this hotel to remain our family’s best accommodation choice.

    Wonderful Hotel

    Mandarin Hotel is indeed a wonderful hotel. It offers a relaxing stay, and the atmosphere is excellent. However, one disappointing aspect this time was that all the shampoo and other containers in the shower room were fixed in place, making them difficult to use. I am not very tall, but for someone shorter, it might be even more challenging.

    Though we may no longer be at an age to celebrate birthdays with much fanfare, enjoying delicious cakes, delightful sweets, and heartfelt message cards still brings joy. Dining at Keshiki with its wonderful desserts made the celebration even more special—it truly feels great to be celebrated. It gives me the motivation to keep going for another year.     I had a relaxing stay.

    The Room was spacious with a great view, allowing for a relaxing stay. The male staff member who handled check-in was very kind and left a great impression. Breakfast included both Japanese and Western options, and it was delicious. One surprising point was that the in-room wear provided was a yukata. However, pajamas were delivered upon request. Unfortunately, we had to wait quite a while during check-out, which left us disappointed at the end of our stay.

    I used to stay here occasionally because it was close to my home, but I will never stay again.

    【Pros】 - None 【Cons】 - Staff cannot communicate in Japanese and cannot answer any questions. - As a result, the deposit of 30,000 yen was not canceled and was charged as is. - Since the amount is not significant, I decided to pay it as a severance payment. - None of the IKYU Diamond benefits were applied, making it feel like a fraudulent offer. - Early check-in, late check-out, or Room designation were not applied at all. - The Room is average; this level can be found anywhere. - Even when Chinese guests were causing a commotion in the hallway, staff ignored it and walked by.

    It's been a while since my last stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Although the stay was short, it was indeed comfortable.

    A bit disappointing compared to the last time, which was great.

    Dinner at Tapas was excellent. However, the baby crib we requested in advance was not provided, and when it was eventually brought in, it was so cramped that we ended up taking our baby home to sleep. Additionally, I thought I had reserved the same room as during a previous stay, but this time it turned out to be a type without a private toilet. While I acknowledge this might have been my oversight during the reservation process, I was surprised that such rooms exist at Mandarin. I truly appreciated how the restaurant staff picked up on our anniversary celebration through conversation and arranged a surprise in our room. However, apart from the toilet design issue which cannot be changed, other aspects could be improved. Even if families with children are not your target audience, maintaining a minimum standard of quality would ensure peace of mind for repeat guests.

    The view was great, and it was quiet and relaxing. I used the in-room dining service, but it was a bit disappointing as the food was slightly cold. Also, I noticed some issues with the electrical connections, which were concerning.

    I was very satisfied again this time.

    The front desk service was excellent, and although I had to wait a bit, I was grateful to be upgraded to a better Room! The Room was as comfortable as ever! However, one concern was that when I left my luggage at the cloakroom on the first floor, they only asked for my last name and left the luggage by the chairs, which made me feel a little uneasy.
